Information about the Animal

The SPCA of Hancock County is working within our community to reduce pet overpopulation, help prevent unplanned litters, and ensure that every animal has a home. With our Last Litter Program, we are able to offer free spay surgeries for cats and dogs brought to our shelter with adoptable litters.
Through the Last Litter Program, your adult cat or dog will be placed in foster until the litter is weaned and then the adult will be spayed at no cost to you.  The mother can then return home with you. The kittens or puppies will remain with the SPCA-HC to be examined by a veterinarian, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before being adopted by their new families.

**Appointments are required and assistance is dependent on available space and resources.**

The goal of this program is to make sure EVERY kitten or puppy in the litter is spayed or neutered before they go to new homes, and to spay the mother cat or dog to prevent any future litters. When the kittens or puppies are old enough, the SPCA-HC finds them loving forever homes.  Be sure to contact us as soon as possible, don't wait until they are weaned and ready to go before getting signed up.

Note: This program is for kittens and puppies under 12 weeks old. If yours are older, contact us to see what other ways in which we may be able to help.
