Volunteer Application

1. Applicants must be 15 years of age or older, Volunteers under 17 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times in all areas of the rescue. You cannot have the child in a cat room and the parent standing outside looking in.

2. Applicant must attend an orientation before volunteering. To attend an orientation we require you have at least one guaranteed 3 hr. shift you can give us.

3. 3. We request a minimum 3 hours per shift. No requirements on how many shifts per week, you can volunteer one or more days a week

4. 4. All areas of the rescue must be cleaned before sitting down and socializing with the pets.

5. 5. Absolutely no flip flops, earbuds or tablets while volunteering. No talking or texting on cellphones unless an emergency.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Please understand, we understand this is a volunteer position but there is a responsibility and commitment that needs to be made to these pets if you are going to be with Pets4Luv. Understand we can only rescue as many pets as we have volunteers to care for them. If we have 10 people on shift and 6 do not notify us they cannot make their shift or even worse do not have the concern & consideration to let us know, the pets cannot be cared for properly. It is the pets and other volunteers you are hurting. If you are not 100% sure you can give us a shift, please do not sign up for that shift. We understand things come up but we expect a call & you can post on the volunteer page if you cannot make it giving other volunteers to step up and cover the shift.

Please understand for the care of our babies if a volunteer misses two shifts without notifying us we will remove you from the schedule. If you make a habit of missing 50% of your shifts per month we will remove you from the schedule.

The Staff and or lead volunteers are here to help run this rescue and make sure things are done the way I want this rescue run. They are here to help all volunteers learn when they are starting and to help everyone until they become comfortable with all the different aspects and jobs here. They are responsible for making sure everyone is following the rules, policies & procedures I have set in place. The rules, Policies & procedures were put in place for the welfare & safety of the pets, staff & volunteers.

If anyone thinks something is not being done correctly or could be done better, please come and see or call me (David Bernacchi), one of the other board members or Michelle K.

After you are trained in our policy’s & procedure’s and are found doing things differently, you will be asked to leave immediately.

Any volunteer caught stealing (which includes merchandise and giving it to the animals without first paying for it) will be asked to leave immediately and will not be permitted to return.

With this policy Pets4Luv Foundation prohibits not only unlawful harassment, but also other unprofessional, derogatory and discourteous actions. Derogatory, racial, ethnic, religious, age, sexual orientation, sexual or other inappropriate remarks, slurs, or jokes will not be tolerated.

Harassment or discrimination on the basis of any protected characteristic is strictly prohibited. Under this policy, harassment is verbal, written or physical conduct that denigrates, shows hostility or aversion toward an individual because of his/her race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, genetic information or any other characteristic protected by law or that of his/her relatives, friends or associates, and that has the purpose or effect of creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive work environment; has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual's volunteer performance or duties; or otherwise adversely affects an individual's volunteer opportunities.

Harassing conduct includes, but is not limited to, verbal, visual/non-verbal (this includes text messages or emails), physical, threats of physical or material violence and making or threatening reprisals as a result of a negative response to harassment.

Any volunteer who believes that he/she is or may be subjected to objectionable conduct must report it immediately to Dave. Do not allow an inappropriate situation to continue by not reporting it, regardless of who is creating that situation. No person in this organization is exempt from this policy. In response to every complaint, Pets4Luv Foundation will take prompt investigatory actions, and corrective and/or preventative actions where necessary. A volunteer who brings such a complaint to the attention of Pets4Luv Foundation in good faith will not be adversely affected as a result of reporting the harassment.
Any volunteer who engages in objectionable conduct is subject to discipline up to and including termination of volunteer opportunities.
