Why do you want a working cat?
Do you have an outside or basement space where cat would have access to when inclement weather? Describe the space.
Do you have other cats or animals? Please list.
Are there children living in the home and what ages?
If the cat eventually wanted to come inside (some do but most don't) would you allow the cat to then be an Indoor / Outdoor cat?
Will you inform your nearest neighbors of your acquisition so they are aware of your new working cat and not be concerned when they see a new cat outdoors?
Do you currently use any rodenticide? (If a working cat eats a mouse or rat poisoned with rodenticide, they will become ill and die as well).
Will you agree to stop using rodenticide if you are approved for a working cat?
Are you aware a working cat needs to be crated in two XL Dog crates zip tied together for about one month before being allowed to roam in an indoor space first? Do you own such crates and where would it be set up? (The double crate system allows the cat room to roam safely and allows the humans to feed and clean without being close to the cat)
Attach photos of the space where the working cat would start off in their crates.
Is the space heated?
Is the space insulated?
Does the space have electricity?
All working cats from Standish Humane Society are fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered, flea treated, etc. - would you be willing to make a donation of $50. to our rescue so we can help the next working cat get veterinarian treatment as well?
You must be 21 years or older to adopt a working cat.
