Please make sure to read the full job description in th original post for the position you are interested in (Weekend Hire or Full Time/Part Time Animal Caretaker), and then carefully review the additional requirements listed below. These apply to both roles and are essential for consideration.
Do you acknowledge that you have read and meet the general requirements, physical expectations, and responsibilities outlined in both the job posting and information provided above?
Which position are you interested in applying for?
Why are you interested in working at an animal rescue? Is there anything specific you'd like us to know about you or your experience with animals?
Both roles involve animal handling, cleaning, doing laundry, and administering medications. Are you comfortable with all of these responsibilities given the appropriate time to train?
Are you comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced environment where you may be asked to switch between tasks quickly based on the needs of the day? Tasks may include walking dogs, cleaning, assisting with supplies, or helping with adoption-related activities, depending on your role?
Some areas of the facility, such as isolation rooms, have detailed cleaning protocols for animals recovering from illness or showing signs of illness. Are you comfortable being trained on strict cleaning procedures and following them carefully?
At any given time, some animals at our facility may be recovering from or exposed to common shelter illnesses, such as upper respiratory infections, kennel cough, ringworm, or parasites. While we follow strict, veterinary approved safety protocols to prevent the spread of illness, some level of risk is always present. Are you comfortable working in this environment?
Have you ever administered medications to animals (e.g., oral meds, eye drops, topical treatments), and are you comfortable doing so independently after proper training?
Do you have any personal or professional experience with large dogs, spicy cats, or nervous/scared animals? If so, please describe your experience and how you handled those situations.
Are you the type of person who takes initiative (for example, starting a task like laundry or dishes without being asked)?
This position requires both teamwork and independent work once training is complete. Are you comfortable working with others as well as your own when needed?
If you are applying for the weekend position, are you available to work both Saturday ad Sunday?
If you are applying for the full-time or part-time caretaker position, please list your general weekly availability.
How do you typically respond when things don't go as planned at work? For example, when there's miscommunication, last-minute changes, or tasks that weren't expected.
Is there anything else you'd like to share about your experience, your connection to Hope For Life Rescue, or why you believe you'd be a great fit for the role you're applying for?
Please upload your resume here.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the number of applications we may receive, we are only able to follow up with applicants who move forward in the hiring process. If you do not hear from us within a few days, it's likely the position has already been filled or we've chosen candidates who are a better fit this time. We appreciate your understanding and your interest in joining our team!
