About You

Your information is safe with us. We will not use it for any other reason than to contact you if necessary.

Emergency Contact

We hope nothing happens, but just in case...

Volunteer Interests/Information

We want to know what you want to help with! Please read the list of descriptions below and then tell us what you are most interested in.

  • Exercise & enrichment- Regardless of circumstance, exercise & enrichment make a dog feel good! It also uses up energy that otherwise displays itself as undesirable behavior such as pacing, barking and aggression. Not only is this great in the short term, but a happier and less hyperactive dog also has a better chance of finding a permanent home.
  • Photography & videography- Our mission is to find each of our dogs their forever home! A dog’s photo can be extremely important in determining whether they will be adopted; if you have an eye for capturing character and personality in animals, we need you! Photos and videos will be used on various platforms to advertise our rescue animals. Must use your personal camera and upload photos.
  • Social media creator- A good social media presence is vital to rescue. Quality & consistency are essential. Social media lends benefits such as: increased visibility, wider audience, community building, fundraising, success stories, etc.
  • Fundraising- NovaStar Rescue is a non-profit. We do not recieve any municipal or government funding. We rely solely on grants and donations. As a fundraising volunteer, you would be responsible for finding and/or securing funding sources such as grants, sponsorships, and donations.
  • Community involvement- Rescue only works if there is community support. Local events help us build a community of animal lovers who can help foster, adopt, spread the word, volunteer, and donate. Community outreach includes: adoption, fundraising, and advocacy events. As a volunteer, you could assist with conception, planning, organization, and/or attendance.
  • Care coordinator- Care coordinators play such an important role in rescue! Care coordinators promote and coordinate the dog portion of the foster program in order to maximize lives saved. Care coordinators responsibilites would include establishing and/or managing and supervising foster care.
  • Adoption coordinator-
  • Data Entry/Administrative Tasks-
  • Temporary pet sitting- Short term fostering when fosters/independent rescuers are out of town.
  • Local pet taxi- Sometimes we have situations that come up that require last-minute transport. Having helping hands make these runs would be such a relief! Pet taxi runs might include: picking up a dog to bring the the rescue, transporting dogs to medical or grooming appointments, etc. We would work with your schedule. Must have a valid driver's license and be over the age of 18.
  • Long distance transport-
  • On-site maintenance- Rescue maintenance is constant. From doing dishes to scooping poop- there's a task that could be done by all! Opportunities to help can include:
    • providing food and water to animals
    • observing animals for signs of illness or injury
    • unpack, label, and stock shelter supplies and donations
    • clean kennels, food bowls, or laundry
    • perform routine maintenance and ground keeping duties
  • Grooming- (experience required)
  • Onsite medical care- (experience required)
  • Training- Ranging from basic commands to Animal Behaviorist (experienced required)
You can choose as many as you would like. You may be contacted for any/all volunteer opportunities that may arise in each of the selected catagories.

Finally...

Fosters allow our rescues a redeeming, and healing opportunity- to experience love and life as it should be. The care and socialization that fosters provide help prepare each pup for their happily ever after. If you would like to foster, please ALSO complete the Foster Application.
