Foster Contract

This Foster Agreement and Release of Liability (Agreement) is made and entered into on the above date by and between Grass Roots Rescue, hereafter referred to as GRR, and the submitting party, hereafter referred to as Foster.

FOSTER UNDERSTAND AND AGREES TO ABIDE BY THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

Foster agrees to temporarily house and care for the GRR Foster Dog placed in their home. Foster understands and agrees that GRR is the sole owner of any Foster Dog until it has been placed in an adoptive home.

Foster always agrees to treat Foster Dog in a humane and loving way and further agrees that Foster Dog will be properly fed, given water, exercised, and socialized daily.

Foster agrees to provide Foster Dog, and all personal pets, with proper veterinary care as recommended by GRR. This includes, but is not limited to, monthly treatments such as heartworm preventative and flea and tick control medications. Foster understands that GRR will provide payment for any veterinary care and medications that Foster Dog may require as approved by GRR prior to treatment.

Foster further understands and agrees to contact their GRR Foster Coordinator prior to any veterinary treatment, including emergency care.

Foster agrees and understands that the care, control, and custody of Foster Dog may not, under any circumstances be transferred to any person other than Foster without prior consent by GRR. Foster further agrees if for any reason they cannot continue to house and care for Foster Dog, they will immediately notify GRR. Foster Dog shall not under any circumstances be given away or sold; nor shall Foster Dog be adopted out except directly through GRR.

Foster agrees that Foster Dog will reside inside of the home and will not be housed outside at anytime except as required for exercise and socialization. Foster agrees Foster Dog will be kept in a secured area such as a crate when not under the direct supervision of Foster.

Foster agrees to ensure the Foster Dog always has the GRR identification tag on their collar.

Foster agrees that Foster Dog will never be allowed off leash when outdoors unless in a securely fenced area. Foster agrees they will not under any circumstances use a chain or tie-out as a substitute for outdoor exercise.

Foster agrees Foster Dog will not be placed in dangerous situations, including, but not limited to, riding in the bed of a pickup or being left unattended in a car.

Foster grants permission for a representative of GRR to visit the Foster Dog at any time to check on the health, well-being, and care of Foster Dog. Foster agrees that GRR reserves the right to remove Foster dog from the home for any reason and without prior notice.

Foster agrees to assess Foster Dog daily and take notice of issues regarding skin, coat, weight, energy level, temperament, behavior and overall health. Foster will immediately contact GRR if anything seems out of the ordinary or causes concern.

Foster understands that GRR does its best to evaluate a dog’s temperament and that GRR exercises due caution to prevent the transmission of disease.

Foster understand that because of the circumstances from which most rescue dogs come, any dog may carry, or could have already been exposed to, an infectious disease which may not be apparent or symptomatic for several days. Foster understands that GRR does not warrant or guarantee that Foster Dog is in good health or good natured.

Foster agrees and acknowledges that no representations about the nature, condition, or health of Foster Dog have induced Foster to sign the Agreement. Therefore, Foster agrees to use due caution when handling Foster Dog. Further, Foster is fully aware that any dog is capable of biting or causing injury.

Foster agrees that GRR is not liable in any way for any injury or damage caused by Foster Dog while in Foster’s care, custody, and control. Foster fully and voluntarily agrees to release and indemnify GRR, its officers, directors, members, agents, volunteers, and representatives from any and all actions, claims, and liability resulting from or related to injuries or damage to persons, animals or property caused by or arising from any act or occurrence involving Foster Dog while in Foster’s care, custody and control; including, without but not limited to, dog bites, illness, or any other action of Foster Dog. This release of liability and indemnification provision includes, without limitation, injury or damage to persons and children who come in to contact with Foster Dog while in Foster’s care, custody and control, Foster’s personal pets and other animals; and potential adoptive parties and their personal pets and other animals.

I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS ENTIRE FOSTER AGREEMENT AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND AGREE TO ALL OF THE ABOVE TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
