If the animal is returned, a part of the adoption fee MAY be refunded. Within 7 days of adoption, the adopter forfeits at least $100 of the adoption fee plus any other expenses accrued recovering the animal. All animals adopted through PNH MUST be returned to PNH. If an animal is rehomed, sold, surrendered to a shelter or dumped, a $2500 recovery fee along with all legal fees accrued recovering funds will be charged to adopter. We will require proof of expected training when relinquishing for behavior. The adopter is expected to utilize a qualified trainer when behavior issues are observed.
If the animal is returned after 7 days, the adopter forfeits the entire adoption fee and could be billed for any expenses accrued recovering the animal.
The refund will be returned by check or credit card processing within 14 days. Microchip must be transferred back to our organization.
Per the AVMA, puppies should receive a dose of canine parvovirus vaccine between 14 and 16 weeks of age, regardless of how many doses they received earlier, to develop adequate protection. Dogs/Puppies are at risk for several viruses and bacterial infections. Coccidia, Giardia, and Kennel Cough (Bordetella) is often brought on by the stress of shipping, a new home, new food, new people, change of climate or surroundings. etc. Kennel cough is self-limiting and like the common cold, it must run its course. Young puppies and dogs with limited vaccination documentation should not go to public places and caution should be used when interacting with other animals until they have received adequate vaccinations. I agree to keep my new pet current on vaccinations throughout his/her lifetime unless a veterinarian determines it would be detrimental to their health to continue vaccinations.
I understand that I will received a copy of the Rabies Prevention brochure, veterinary records, and any other educational materials. I will need to create a Petstablished Petlover account to view all records and electronic coupons. We are also able to send via email if asked.
Animal(s) are being adopted/transferred for the sole purpose of being adopted to suitable permanent loving homes. This animal will not be sold, traded, consumed, or disposed of in any way, nor will it be used for any experimental or breeding purposes. PNH will at its discretion, require after adoption home visits at 3 month intervals to ensure the adopted pet is settling in and the adoption is successful. There will be a minimum of 1 after adoption home visit and could be multiple in situations where we are helping with behavior modification.
Upon adoption, the animal has been examined by a veterinarian, received age appropriate vaccinations, deworming, has been microchipped and spay/neutered. If they have not been microchipped the Coordinator (foster/adoption) will set an appointment with you for a later date.
I will provide this animal with proper living conditions including shelter inside my home, adequate food and fresh water, humane treatment, and veterinary care to maintain his/her health and well-being. I understand that proper transportation methods are expected and enforced. ABSOLUTELY NO ANIMALS WILL RIDE IN THE BACK OF A PICK UP TRUCK! This inlcudes crated or tethered. Animals will ride inside the vehicle only. I understand that I am financially responsible for this animal, and that owning a pet/animal comes with expenses.
I will establish a schedule of preventative medicine with a veterinarian and to obtain immediate veterinary care if the animal becomes sick or is injured. Follow recommendations on housetraining, dog training, not allowing off leash, not attending public dog parks.
Animals adopted or transferred from PNH include no guarantees regarding health, soundness or temperament. I understand that, while every effort is made to ensure the health of animals offered for transfer/adoption, PNH cannot be held responsible for any undetected or any behavioral issue, illness, or disease that the adopted animal might be carrying, and that PNH will not be responsible for any veterinary bills incurred after the adoption/transfer. We cannot guarantee the breed or mixed breed of any animal. We use our best judgement to guess the breed or follow vet records. Visual breed identification alone is unreliable. DNA typing is at the owners’ expense and is the only absolute way of determining breed make up.
PNH, its directors, volunteers, property owners, foster homes, veterinarians are not responsible if this animal causes injury to a human and/or other animal and/or damage to property. This includes taking the animal on a foster, trial, or visit and interaction of any kind. PNH is not responsible for animal, human; property or vehicular damage, or driving accidents while the adopter is transporting or a PNH representative is transporting any animals for adopter.
PNH does not condone aversive methods of training even after the adoption; this specifically includes shock collars, prong collars, Starmark collars or any other "tools" that would be considered a physical correction. Positive, reward based training is the method of choice and will produce a kinder, gentler more balanced dog. We reserve the right to resume ownership if it is proven that any such methods are used to train a PNH adopted dog.

I hereby irrevocably authorize to edit, alter, copy, exhibit, publish, or distribute these photos for any lawful purpose. In addition, I waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product wherein my likeness appears. Additionally, I waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising or related to the use of the photo. I hereby hold harmless, release, and forever discharge PNH from all claims, demands, and causes of action which I, my heirs, representatives, executors, administrators, or any other persons acting on my behalf or on behalf of my estate have or may have by reason of this authorization.

Please understand that your new pet may require a decompression period. This will include decompression walks with other animals in neutral territory, a quiet place to relax and time to get settled in and understand their new home. Do not allow children to flood the new animal with attention as this may set them back. Teaching children to respect not only the animals space but teaching them to treat animals with respect, will keep everyone safe and happy with boundaries. This is the Rule of 3! 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months. 3 days to realize that they are in a new home, 3 weeks to start understanding their new home and 3 months to fully settle in and be comfortable. Some dogs may adapt faster or slower, please recognize that this is a stressful moment for them and they don’t know what to expect or what you expect of them. Starting their training process, required by your adoption contract, will help them not only bond to you faster but will also help them gain confidence in themselves and their new surroundings. Enjoy your new dog and find us at Families of Paws N Hooves Rescue on Facebook. This is a private group for adopters only.
PNH reserves the right to resume ownership and/or custody as the adopters’ agent of the animal if any of the above conditions are not met or the adopter is under investigation for animal cruelty or the animal is found at any other shelter/humane society or is found as a stray. I agree to pay all fees associated with PNH recovery fees along with any attorney fees if the need arises for PNH to resume ownership of above described animal. This fee is $2500 along with attorney fees recovering the animal.
I understand that some transferable parasites are out of the control of PNH and will not hold them responsible for easily transferred parasites or worms. PNH can offer resources to prevent and treat all manners of these transferrable parasites. We do not test for parasites unless there is reason. ie: diarrhea, vomiting, bloody stool. Seemingly healthy animals will be treated as such.
The adoption fee is $500 for puppies and $450 for adults. $100 will be refunded after successful completion of an approved reward based obedience class. Obedience classes can be done at any positive only, reward based and certified training center and are at adopters expense. This is expected to be completed within 3 months of adoption.
