Hello, my name is Buckwheat (or Bucky as my foster mom calls me). I’m a 7-year-old cutie who lost his home along with my 3 siblings when our mom had to go to a nursing home. I was very scared of strangers at first and did some not nice things just because I was scared of everything.  But I have now learned to trust other people and am a good boy! I do potty outside, walk on a leash, love to snuggle (LOTS) and play with other doggos. I share toys and food well, not being a meanie beanie. I like to sleep in the bed with my hooman, but also do well in doggie bed. I like my belly rubbed and even like taking a bath! But please give me a little time to learn to trust you and get comfy in my new place. Go slow and don’t give up! I will get there in about a week or so. I do snap when scared, but don’t bite. So little hands that don’t understand when not to touch me at first may not be the best. But once I love you, I am totally in and LOVE YOU right back. I give good kisses too. Can’t wait to meet you and find my forever home again. An open letter from my twins Dear Facebook,  Our names are Frenchy and Bunny. As we sat and watched our siblings and our mommy get adopted, nobody ever wanted us. We are now 3 years old and love to do everything together. Our perfect home would be someone willing to be patient with us as we transition into a home, since we have now grown up in a kennel. We share the same water bowl and sometimes even the same bed! ( even though we have our own beds) We love to play with other doggies and people too! We love to chew on our nylabones, and run around playing with sticks. We are almost 100% potty trained every once in a while if we can't hold it in, we may peepee but we are working really hard on it.  Even though we are very much loved by our rescue mommas, we really would love our very own furever home. We are both neutered and utd on all shots as well as monthly preventatives.  If you think you can love us (if possible together,  if not we will understand) let our mommies at How to Save a Life Rescue, Rowan County-Salisbury NC know!  With love,  Frenchy and Bunny   Applications can be filled out at www.piedmontanimalrescue.com/adopt!  Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet does NOT send us Applications.   We do charge a nonrefundable application fee of $10 to ensure that you are serious about adopting the pet.  We receive many applications and many never respond after processing GREATLY delaying the pets forever home.  Please only apply if you are serious about adopting.  Please also make sure your pets are up to date on you species applicable Vaccines (rabies, Distemper/Parvo, FVRCP, Bordetella), spayed/neutered, and on Heartworm prevention if a canine.   The adoption fee includes their age appropriate vaccinations(DA2PP and Bordetella), Dewormer, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test as well as the registration of their microchip information to you. Buster is a super sweet dog who loves to be loved on when he’s relaxed. During family time, he’s right there at your feet, chillin’ alongside you. However, prior to coming into rescue he was mainly an outside dog, so he can be very skittish. He will require patience and understanding as he clearly has a fearful streak. He is afraid of doors and is hesitant to come through so will need time to adjust to your home. He is mostly housebroken, but will need consistency with this, as he continues to learn to be an inside pet. He loves treats and takes them beautifully. He does very well with other dogs and has indicated that he would benefit from the companionship of another young dog who has the energy to play with him. He’s still learning to walk on a leash, but is doing well so far and really enjoys his walks. Because he is still learning to walk on a leash, we will require a fenced yard for Buster.  He does well in the car once he settles down from the excitement. He is crate trained, goes in the crate easily and sleeps well though the night. Overall, Buster is an awesome, friendly dog. But he will need training and patience as he learns to move past his fears and become a well adjusted companion   Applications can be filled out at www.piedmontanimalrescue.com/adopt! Gypsy has had to adjust to a lot in her young life. She was abandoned and pregnant and very skittish of people. She found her way to a feral cat colony, and was nourishing herself with their food. Now, three months later, she is no longer terrified of people and has given birth to four healthy, happy puppies (10 weeks old now) and is the best mama. In addition to people, she overcame her fear of a television…..it took awhile to get over hiding every time it was on but she has since made friends with the “beast”.
