BONDED PAIR: Ninja is a sweet, very quiet, cautious tuxedo boy. His first response in a new situation may be to hiss because he is trying to size things up, but it stops there with no following aggression. He is slow to adapt to a new environment, but if you can be patient, and let him progress on his own time table, he will show you what a good cat boy he is. When he first came to me, I gave him the space he wanted, making a point to pet him & speak to him without picking him up. Very gradually, he evolved into coming to me, rubbing up against me, and quietly purring when I held him.  This took almost 3 weeks.   He finds comfort in being with his brother Simba and would appreciate a quiet home. Ninja enjoys cuddling up with you on the couch with a blanket. He likes gentle touches. He doesn't like a lot of people around at one time. He will go and hide if there is a lot of people or a lot of noises.  He enjoys kids as long as they are easy with him and quiet. He enjoys playing with his brother, Simba! Simba and NInja were recently returned due to no fault of their own.  They have been together since they were adopted from MPR as kittens in June of 2021.  Meet them at PetSmart, Bleachery Blvd, on Saturday, 12/3, from 12-4pm.  They are currently in a foster home.     All cats and kittens have been spayed/neutered, FELV/FIV tested, microchipped, vaccinated (whatever they can have in the period they are in our care, some will still need additional vaccines after adoption), given dewormer and flea preventative and provided care for any known illnesses during their time with us.     Apply to adopt to coordinate a meet and greet with this lovely pair of boys! show less

BONDED PAIR: Simba is a handsome, large, orange boy. He is quiet, but more outgoing than his bonded brother, Ninja. Often times, Simba will stand on his hind legs and caress his person with outstretched arms.  He loves to utilize a variety of scratching toys : sisal posts and carpeted cat posts, and is fond of playing with the little plastic strips that are on gallon containers of milk & water. Given the opportunity, I think both Simba and Ninja would be accepting of another cat or older quiet dog.  Simba has what seems to be an old eye injury that flared up recenty.  With a few days of a steroid drop, it cleared up but there could be a recurrence on occassion.  There is a surgery that could be done if it became an ongoing issue not managed by medication and we can explain that further to any potential adopter.   Simba loves to play with bottle caps. He rather have this over toys! Simba is a very quiet cat, sometimes you don't know he's even around! He gets startled easily around loud noises. He is good around kids as long as they are not to loud or otherwise he will go and hide. Simba and NInja were recently returned due to no fault of their own.  They have been together since they were adopted from MPR as kittens in June of 2021.  Meet them at PetSmart, Bleachery Blvd, on Saturday from 12-4pm. Apply to adopt to coordinate a meet and greet with this lovely pair of boys! show less

I’m a sweet, active, curious brown tabby with a whole lot of love and silliness to give. I’ve come a long way in foster care, from being scared of hands and running off to hide to happily climbing into my foster dad’s lap and draping my arms across my foster mom’s hands to ask for more pets and treats. In fact, I’ve become a love bug. I enjoy greeting people when they come home or enter a room. I’ve been around big dogs, and after a few days of me telling them who’s boss, I’ll even curl up with them. I’m curious about other cats and am eager to make friends with them. I love to play with toys. A wand toy is the best way to help me settle in, along with lots of treats (I can be bribed) and petting me while I eat. It took me a week to settle in at my foster parents’ home. I might get scared of your hand at first if you approach my head, so it’s best to start scratching my back and butt. Go slow with me, give me treats, and I’ll learn to trust you. We’ll be besties for life.  My litter box skills are on point, and I eat well, both dry food and canned food. Did I mention I like treats?  If you have room to bring home some extra silliness, please consider adopting my sister, Norreen, too. We’ll keep you smiling and laughing for hours! He and his sister, Norreen, were in foster together.  Now they are at PetSmart, Bleachery Blvd, waiting to meet you Wednesday, 6-8 pm or Saturday, 12-4pm.   Get $50 off the combined adoption fee when adopting a pair of kittens.  All cats and kittens have been spayed/neutered, FELV/FIV tested, microchipped, vaccinated (whatever they can have in the period they are in our care, some will still need additional vaccines after adoption), given dewormer and flea preventative and provided care for any known illnesses during their time with us.    show less

Thackery is a gentle and sweet-natured brown tabby. He spent the first part of his life living outside, but now he has learned he enjoys things such as making a nest of his favorite blankets, sampling as many cat treats as you’ll give him, and playing with wand toys. He is a laid-back boy and is happiest when he is spending quality cuddle time with his humans. This little guy is a lap cat and has been known to cuddle up on the couch and wait on his foster parents to come home so they can relax with him. Thackery is also a wonderful conversationalist, meowing and chirping to let his foster family know exactly how he is feeling. He gets along well with the other cat in his foster home, and will snuggle up to her for their daily cat naps. Thackery is not sure how he feels about dogs, but would probably do best with a dog that is very calm like him. Thackery will be the perfect best friend for his forever family, and they will never want for someone to cuddle or talk to while he’s around.  Thackery's sisters are Myling and Rhoda.  Meet Thackery at Thrift Hound, 10-5, Mon-Sat (beginning Wed, 11/30).  His sisters will be at PetSmart, Bleachery Blvd, where you can meet them on Saturday, 12-4pm.   Get $50 off the combined adoption fee when adopting a pair of kittens.  All cats and kittens have been spayed/neutered, FELV/FIV tested, microchipped, vaccinated (whatever they can have in the period they are in our care, some will still need additional vaccines after adoption), given dewormer and flea preventative and provided care for any known illnesses during their time with us.    show less

Attention: This is a courtesy posting only! This pet is NOT available through Mountain Pet Rescue.  Please do NOT contact MPR for information about the pet or apply to adopt this pet on the MPR website.  Contact emily.spreng@gmail.com for more information or to adopt the pet. Bowie is a wonderful, one-of-a-kind, kitty! Once a parking lot princess, now a domestic diva, this fearless little lady has overcome huge challenges and is ready to start a new adventure with her forever family.   Bowie is a skin cancer survivor who recently recovered from a partial ear amputation.  The surgery was necessary for Bowie's ear to heal and to keep the cancer from spreading. Now her asymmetrical ears add to her already unique character and beauty. She has bright white fur and stunning heterochromia (different colored eyes)!  Throughout Bowie's difficult journey, even when she was scared or in pain, she has always remained sweet and gentle, and has quickly charmed everyone she's met.  Despite her time surviving outside, she is a people-oriented girl who runs to greet you at the door, rubbing on your legs and requesting pets. Once comfortable in her home, she will sleep quietly beside you all night! It took a little time for her to acclimate to her new surroundings, but Bowie has blossomed in foster care and become a confident, playful and healthy cat. Bowie needs to be an indoor kitty only. (She developed skin cancer because her light skin is extremely sensitive to sunlight.)  Bowie would be happiest as an only kitty, ruling the roost in a calm and peaceful household.  She would probably be ok in a house with another cat or dog who is very calm and friendly and leaves her to do her own thing. (She keeps her distance from her current kitty housemates.) If you are looking for a sweet and special kitty to take center stage in your heart, contact me today at emily.spreng@gmail.com to learn more about sweet Bowie and then possibly meet her at her foster house. show less
