Airabelle is a young adult cutie weighing about 20lbs.  Airabelle is a Terrier mix and we are guessing she is maybe 1-2 because she still has a good amount of puppy energy. Bailey is a 2(ish) year old sweet Collie/Lab mix weighing just under 30lbs.  Bailey was one of our dogs from the recent horrific hoarding case.  When she first came to us she couldn't even walk she was so terrified.  She didn't come out of her crate for a couple days and was just taking in her surrounding of what it felt like to be in a safe environment.   Fast forward two week and Baileys is almost a completely new dog.  She has been checked over by vet, fixed, and is a happy, healthy girl.  Here is what her foster family has to say about her: "Bailey is a good girl!  She has come a long way and we love her so much.  She is very good on a leash and seems to be potty trained (with us consistantly letting her out).  She loves to be scratched behind the ears and to get neck massages.  She will literally just sit at my feet and stare at me until I love on her.  She has been enjoying bully sticks and other chewy dog items, treats, and dog beds.  She has been great being kenneled in the evening when we are out running errands.  She is overall pretty mellow but as she comes out of her shell she is gaining more energy and confidence.  She really enjoys being around us.  It took her a little longer to open up to my husband but now she loves him too.  She doesn't play with the other dogs yet, but her sister is in a home with puppy who is constantly trying to instigate play, and so her sister is playing a ton now, so we think she would play if shes in a home with another super playful dog!  She is great with cats, she just sometimes wags her tail at our cats but thats about it.  She is very good at making eye contact and just giving us those sweet, loving puppy eyes.  She is truly such a precious, resiliant girl and someone is going to be very lucky to have her as a family member." Oh Billie, where to start with Billie.  She is a 2(ish) year old, 45lb squishy, loving dog.  She should probably be about 35lbs to be honest.  She is small is size, just pretty round.  Her family will need to keep her on a little diet :) Billie was one of the dogs from our hoarding case recently.  Over 60 dogs were shoved in a small shed, each living in crates too tiny for them, never being let out.  We are not too sure how long she endured living like this, but we are so glad she was one of the lucky ones who made it out alive, because almost half didn't.  We found out that the individual hoarding these dogs had actually accumulated them over a few months from a local shelter. Billie clearly had a family before ending up in the shelter, which head to her being in the hoarding case.  While Billie was traumatized and terrified when we found her, it took her almost no time to come out of her shell and for her personality to come out.  She is being fostered with other dogs and a kid and she loves them all.  She is truly one of the most loving dogs, despite what humans had put her through.  Billie loves to give kisses, roll on her back for belly rubs, snuggle on the couch, and she is started to learn to play with toys.  She even has a favorite toy now that she will carry around the house.  Billie seems to be potty trained and listens well.  She has been a dream dog the foster says, and is very easy.  She is easy to fall in love with and has soooo much unconditional love to give. Chester is an 8-9 week old sweet little Mutt weighing about 7lbs.  We are guessing she will be about 35-45lbs when full grown.  If we had to make a breed guess we would say Cattle Dog/Collie mix, but it's just an educated guess :) Chester and her 7 siblings were an accidental litter in Kansas.  There was a family living on a farm and their female dog "accidentally" got pregnant.  The humans said if a rescue was not found for them they would just dump them in the country side, so of course we couldn't say no.   Chester and her siblings are wonderful little pups.  Full of love and energy.  These babies will be perfect size/energy dogs to be adventure buddies but also snuggle buds.  Chester and Dexters foster has been working very hard to train them.  They already know how to sit, stay, lay down, and listen very well.  They are awesome pups!  They will need daily exercise and another dog to play with would be a good option, that being said, they are not the type of dogs who will absolutely need a 10 mile run daily to be okay (but probably could do one haha).  As long as they get daily mental stimulation and exercise along with tons of love and snuggles these babies will be as happy as can be. So far they are all social, loving, playful, and incredibly smart...and love toys!  They love other dogs and people and are just happy to live each day with the love of their foster families.  They would do well with kids who know how to treat dogs right and are young enough to learn how to do well around kitties too. Cimbri is a young adult cutie weighing about 25lbs.  We are guessing she is a Pug/Beagle mix from her appearance, but she was dumped at a shelter without any information so we don't know for sure.  Cimbri was absolutely terrified in the shelter.  Since the shelter was so over crowded she was put in a kennel with another little Terrier, named Airabelle.  Airabelle quickly become Cimbri's saving grace.  They bonded very quickly and Cimbri starting looking to Airabelle for direction and confidence.  They were moved to a foster home where their connection became stronger, and they truly became best friends.  When they made their way to CO we put them in a foster here together and have decided they need to be adopted together. El is a 6MO Bully Breed cutie.  We keep going back and forth on what we guess she is mixed with, but we are thinking Boxer/Bulldog/Pitty maybe?  We are hoping her forever family will do a breed DNA test cuz that would be a lot of fun! Gilly is a 1-2 year old, teeny tiny, itty bitty Chihuahua weighing 5lbs (on a good day).   When Gilly was first found he was on deaths door.  Honestly, everybody thought he was an old, dying dog.  He was so skinny he couldn't walk, his back was hunched over, and he just layed there.  After getting supportive care at the vet for weeks, he started to gain weight, his eyes became much more alive, and we started to learn more about him.   Once he was strong enough to travel Gilly made his way to CO.  He is now ready to find his forever home.  He turned from mellow, quiet, skinny, sick Gilly, to: Puppy, happy, playful, goofy, nutty Gilly.  Gilly literally makes everybody laugh 24-7.  The second you go into the home he is all over you with kisses and love.  He loves all people and other dogs (big and small).  Gilly just absolutely loves to play and run around.  He loves playing with 30lb puppies and 5lb dogs.  He doesn't descriminate.  Gilly loves to snuggle so much.  During the work day he will sit on his foster Momma's shoulder or on top of her other dog, all snuggled up and relaxed.  Honestly, we are all OBSESSED with this little guy,  we just cannot put into words how amazing he is, and how far he has come.  Big personality in a little package is an understatement, but in the best way possible.  If you are interested in adopting Gilly, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com show less

Mary Lou is an 8 year old, 8lb goofing looking Terrier/Pug (we think?) mix.  Mary Lou's Momma died a couple months back, so we took her in before she ended up in the shelter.  She has been with us for a couple months and she is just a great little dog! Many Lou has a cute curly tail that she wags at an angle when she gets excited.  When Many Lou first got to her foster home, she was a little nervous, understandably, but quickly warmed up.  As she came from a house with multiple other small dogs, she has found comfort and confidence from being surrounded by other dogs, so another small dog friend is a must for her.  Mandy loves to cuddle all day and would rather lay in bed snuggled up than do zoomies around outside.  She is a low-energy dog, so a home with someone who has a low energy household and really wants a snuggle bug/lap dog would be perfect.  She enjoys going potty outside and hangout out sniffing around than going for long strenuous walks.  She is just an awesome little low key dog who needs a very loving, patient human with another dog to give her the most perfect home ever. While Mandy is a little older, she is not a senior and she is in good health.  We believe she has a looong life ahead of her and want to make sure her next forever family is truly her forever, so she never has to be shuffled around again..it's too hard on dogs! Milo is a 3(ish) year old  Terrier (maybe Schnauzer?) Mix weighing about 11lbs.   Milo was surrendered to one of our Texas rescue partners because his owner lived in an apartment where she was not supposed to have animals.  Once the landlord found out she surrendered to Milo to the rescue.   Milo has been here for a little while and is ready to find his forever family. **Mollie is a board and train dog through Brighter Days.  Please read all about this before applying to adopt** Mollie is a 2 year old Rottie mix Mollie was surrendered to Brighter Days Dog Resue because her previous owners had never taken the time to train her properly.  Becuase of this she was surrendered to Brighter Days to find a family who actually has the time and dedication a 4-legged companion needs.  When an adult dog comes to us lacking any sort of training we immediately get them into our board and train program.  One of the main reasons dogs get euthanized in an overcrowded shelter is due to lack of training.  When we started Brighter Days we made a commitment that we would make sure every single Brighter Days Dog would be set up for a life time of success, which includes training.  Our trainer works so hard to get these dogs to be wonderful, stable, balanced, obedient, great dogs.  To make sure their hard work is not lost over time due to owners who don't continue the training, we require each one of our adopters who is adopting a board and train dog to take our trainers classes in longmont.  It is an eight week course that is usually $300, but for Brighter Days adopters it is free! Smokey is a 10 week old Terrier (maybe poodle?) mix weighing about 7lbs.  Smokeys mom is about 10lbs and we don't know who his dad is. We are guessing Smokey will be about 15-25lbs when full frown. His mom and brother were dumped with one of our rescue partners in New Mexico who asked us to take them here in CO, to find them wonderful forever families.  Smokey has legs for days on his tiny body. He is a silly boy. The way he moves and plays makes you smile and laugh. He also likes to spend time with my son in his room playing. It’s great one on one attention for them. He has been socialized with small and large dogs and does well. He gets the zoomies also running from the living room to the dining room and kitchen. He doesn’t do quite as well with the potty training but is getting better. He prefers the softer toys but loves to play with his brother. He is a sweet cuddler too. It’s important for him to get all that energy out before he’s ready to chill out and cuddle. We have a story with a happy ending today, but it almost was a eulogy. An advocate for shelter dogs in an underserved NM town reached out about this incredibly beautiful and sweet mama dog and her puppies who were on the euthanasia list that week. Even with rescues being overwhelmed right now and too few fosters and adopters, we was sure someone would help them. Side note: in the rescue community, there is an unwritten code…if you take someone’s puppies, you NEVER leave mama behind. Yes, adult dogs have a hard time finding rescue and those babies are her ticket out. Leaving a mama dog behind is ludicrous. So imagine our surprise to hear that another rescue grabbed her babies but left mama to die, with virtually no chance of rescue due to her breed and age (adult mutt). She loved those babies with her life, and now might not have her own. with the help of Broken Shovels we were able to save her in the last hour before euthanasia. Yes, adult dogs die in crowded shelters every day, but to rob this girl of her babies and all hope was too much. She deserved a second chance, and was in this dire condition by no fault of her own. So, meet Wanda, now one of the happiest dogs I’ve ever met. She loves all humans and dogs she meets! She’s very polite and comfortably crate trained, potty trained, and good on a leash after her excitement for new smells subsides. She is smart and eager to learn. She would love to go through a training class with someone she loves, so that great habits can solidify. But most of all, this girl who’s never had much at all would love to be babied and treated as though she is the most special girl in the whole world. Willa is a 1 year old, crazy, loving, Terrier Mix weighing 18lbs.   Willa was surrendered to us from Texas becuase her Mom lived in a small apartment and the landlord would not allow dogs.  Not only that, but she is not an apartment dog, she has way too much energy to be cooped up all day! Willa has been in CO for a couple weeks now and is ready to find her forever family.  She is a ball of happy energy and love.  Her foster Momma says she is the most outgoing dog they have had to date.  She loves to say hi to everybody, loves to play with all the toys (including shoes) and tries to get the other dogs in the home to play with her, even though they are older and not too interested.  She does fine with the cats in the foster home, but also tries to get them to play with her.  We would really love to see Willa go to a home with another energetic dog to play with.  Either that or someone who wants a dog to take on daily runs/hikes or has kids to play with.  She really truly needs to get out her energy every day.  Her foster mom says if she takes her on a long walk she is usually good for the day and just love to snuggle, hang out, and watch TV after that.  She is so sweet and loving, and very, very snuggly.  Willa will need to go to a family who can work with her on potty training.  We believe since she lived in an apartment she learned to go on potty pads instead of outside, so going outside consistantly is new to her.  That being said she is very smart and with some consistancy and dedication she will get the hang of it! Willa does seem to show a very low amount if at all but we do not believe she should go to humans will allergies since we don't know her breeds and it's just a guess.  She will however need regular grooming appointments to keep her looking at beautiful as ever.
