Diamond was found, along with his sister Pearl, in August 2023, living off the land in the orchards of Tulare County. At first, he did not trust anyone and wouldn't come within 10 feet of them. After some long-term trust building, he eventually came to eat from your hand and was ultimately trapped in October 2023, two months after first being discovered. Diamond was somebody's pet, and how he wound up living in an orchard is anybody's guess as he was fully spayed, chipped, and is very obedient & loving. Unfortunately, after a lengthy wait time, the registered owner did not respond to phone calls or texts, and Diamond was cleared for adoption. He can still tend to be on the shy (protective) side around strangers (i.e., the vet or groomer) but ultimately warms up once he sees there is no threat. Overall, he is responding very well to being back in civilization and living in a home setting. He is fully crate trained. Diamond is likely not a good fit for a cat-friendly home, as there have been two incidents of aggression. However, he disengages immediately when ordered to stop. Otherwise, Diamond is a lovable, gentle, friendly soul who has somehow been given the short end of the stick in life. He is great with other dogs, both large & small. Adult: 1-6 yrs $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip. Lastly, we spay or neuter each of our dogs. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match. Please visit https://www.calpaws.org/available-dogs for the adoption application! We are always in need of experienced fosters for the amount of dogs we have coming in. Being a foster is such a rewarding experience. If you are interested please review https://www.calpaws.org/fostering
