Hi!  My name is Etsy and I am looking for a forever home.  Me and two of my friends were surrendered by our owner's family after she had to move into an assisted living facility but lucky for us, BCAA said they would help us.  No one seems to know exactly what I am a mix of but my foster parents say I'm super sweet especially after I learn that I can trust you as I'm pretty shy when meeting new people & in new situations.  I'm around 3 years old and was a little on the heavier side when I first came into foster but my foster mom has me on a diet and I'm about to get my girlish figure back and now weigh around 32lbs (I was 36lbs). I have gotten along with all of the other dogs I have met although I don't really interact with them a lot; and while I have shown some interest in the cats, I have not been aggressive with the ones I have encountered.  I have done really good in my crate which I consider my safe space without any accidents, barking or tearing up of any bedding (I also share it with one of my friends and we even eat together without any problems).  I do love my food and treats, which I take gently.  I am not good on leash 'cause I never had one on before and they scare me so a fenced yard will be needed for me.  If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at http://www.bcaaofnj.org. show less

Meet our special little girl Foxy. Foxy is approximately 7 years old and a chihuahua mix. She has bounced around a lot in her life which has taken a bit of a toll on her. She has a bit of an attitude and is currently under the care of a behavioral vet and we have found a nice cocktail of inexpensive medications that help to keep her relatively balanced. She needs a special person or couple who understands her quirks and who will give her all of the time she needs to be able to trust a new mom/dad. A household without children is a must for Foxy. Foxy is a resource guarder so she really should be the only dog in the house to avoid potential issues. She likes being outside, laying in the warm sun and going for little walks. Walking is very important for Foxy as she had two knee surgeries this year and did not use that leg for about 6 months, so her muscles have atrophied. We are currently working with an animal physical therapist who has gotten her using her leg again and we are building up her muscles again by doing underwater treadmill therapy. Despite Foxy’s issues, she really can be quite a sweet and funny dog. She just needs someone who understands her special needs and who will give her the space and time she needs when she needs it.Foxy is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccinations. Any questions about Foxy can be directed to her foster mom at kimr7296@aol.com.     show less

Hi!  My name is Luna and me and my brother Luther are looking for our own forever homes.  We got picked up as strays and placed in a small prison dog program.  We did really good there and everyone loved both of us but after being in the program for awhile and not getting any adoption interest (black dogs have a really hard time getting noticed and adopted), they asked BCAA if they might be able to help us and they said yes!  We are not looking to get adopted together.  We are about 8mos old and both of us are right at about 45lbs, so it is guesstimated once we fill out some and possibly get a little taller, we are going to be in the 50-55lbs range.  We have both done real good in our crates without any accidents, barking or tearing up of any bedding although we would really prefer to be out with you as we are typical labs who love to be with their people.  We have gotten along with the other foster dogs and love to play; so far both of us have ignored those things called cats.  We love to eat and get treats which we take gently.  We have learned some commands and our foster mom is going to send a letter from our primary trainers at the prison which will let you know everything we have learned which with continued work, we will get to be experts at (treats will help us learn faster!).  We are doing pretty good on leash and while we are a little shy when first meeting new folks, it doesn't take us long to figure out that you're safe and then we love getting attention.  If you would like to meet me or my brother Luther, please fill out an application which can be found at http://www.bcaaofnj.org. show less
