MEDICAL HOLD: Medical hold is to allow for treatment of heartworms which began in (Jan)2021. Expected medical release date approximately six months after the start of treatment which will be approximately Jul 2021. She can be adopted out on a special contract if you are in the local area.   Name: Circe Breed: Great Dane Age: 7 years Weight: 126 lbs Special Needs: N/A  Leash Trained: N/A Training: N/A Pet Location: Paw Paw, IL Good with Cats: N/A Dogs: Yes Kids: Yes Pupdate: Circe, we have been calling her CeCe since we can never remember how to pronounce her name. But she responded to it right away so I’m guessing nickname. She adjusted really well to our pack. Once she figured out the pecking order she fit herself right in. Now it seems like she has always been here. I know there was an issue that they were worried about at her old home and it was warranted. If she is pestered harder enough she will snap back. But she definitely knows how to hold her own. That was a one time occurrence only.  She has come to work with me a few times and has always been a very good girl. She is well manored on a leash. She has met many animals and has never shown any aggression towards them. She will make someone a wonderful lapdog. She likes to lay on the couch or a nice thick dog bed. Loves to be loved on and yes will try to sit in your lap. She is protective of her home and will bark at anyone she does not know. But that’s it. All and all an easy keeper. show less

Medical Hold: Undergoing treatment or receiving vaccines. Please contact JGRI for details on this dog. Thank you Name: Gibbs Breed: Mastiff Age: 6 years Weight: 120 lbs Special Needs: No Leash Trained: Yes Training: Will need Pet Location: Oswego IL Good with Cats: Possibly, I do like to chase at first but lose interest after a while Dogs: Yes, bigger dogs, with slow intros Kids: Probably OK Pupdate: Hi, I’m Gibbs! All I want in life is love and companionship! I love to roll in the grass and sit outdoors and watch things. I am afraid of strangers until I am properly introduced to them. My foster mom is teaching me some training and she says I am doing a great job! I get to meet lots of people (including kids) and dogs on my walks. I get really excited when they come up to me and I like to jump. But we are working on that and I know I need to lay down first before I get pets. I have been meeting the kitty in my foster home and I do well supervised but sometimes I try to play a little too hard. I am not much for toys or food. I don't beg though! I will just put my head in your lap while you are eating so you don't forget about me. I am a good boy that is very eager to please.   Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption.  Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters. Please check back to learn more about me!! UpdateHe’s absolutely obsessed with my husband, follows him everywhere and he’s an absolute sweetheart for us.  He’s been sleeping in our room at night, not in a crate. He wants to be by and play with our dog (who isn’t happy about it). You can definitely tell he didn’t have a lot of training and lacks confidence. He is set off by noises in and outside and will go on random barking fits. As I’m mentioned above, he’s extremely reactive to people and dogs outside. He’s going to need very slow intro with any new people. He loves toys and is super silly and playful.    Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption.  Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters. Name: Krampus Breed: Presa Canario Age: 1 1/2-2 years Weight: 140 lbs Special Needs: N/A Leash Trained: Needs Training: N/A Pet Location: Imperial, MO Good with Cats: Yes but supervised Dogs: Yes large Dogs Kids: Yes as young as 7 Pupdate: He had his 1st public outing to the vet today. He did very well and allowed full handling. Everybody loved him ♡ We've done introductions with everyone in the house and he is doing very well. He is kid, cat and dog friendly. My youngest is 7 and he does pretty good with him. He is a nibbler/chewer probably due to his young age and constantly trying to chew on them. He is very rambunctious and does not settle down easily.    Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption.  Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters. Medical Hold: Undergoing treatment or receiving vaccines. Please contact JGRI for details on this dog. Thank you   Name: Luna Breed: Great Dane Age: 4 years Weight: 95 lbs Special Needs: N/A  Leash Trained: N/A Walks:Walks. She loves her new squeaky toy that she got from her wish list. She has a stuffed animal that she came into rescue with, that she sucks on like a pacifier. I’ve washed it, because it was a little crunchy when it got here. She is high energy and will need an active family and lots of room to run around. Training: N/A Pet Location: Fort Worth, TX Good with Cats: NO Dogs: Yes Kids: yes Pupdate: She is very friendly, greets new people with curiosity and a tail wag. She’s adjusted quickly to the sudden change of circumstances. I don’t think she will have any trouble finding her perfect family. She is a great candidate for almost any family, with children as young as 8. She is HIGHLY prey driven, does have an affinity for chasing bunnies so a firm grip on the leash will be required. She requires a slow intro to all dogs because she is wary of new dogs, probably due to her situation before coming into rescue. She has been introduced to my dogs and has gone on walks with household dogs. She can be quite vocal and she will let you know she needs out to go potty or when she needs water in her bowl. She has been let out to free roam throughout the day (and a night, once) and has displayed no destructive behavior. She is very energetic and has catlike tendencies to rub against you. She is very affectionate and funny. She has really come out of her shell and plays with me and the other dogs.    Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption.  Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters. Thank you ● Name: Princeton ● Breed: Great Dane ● Age: 8-10 mths ● Weight: ● Special Needs: ● Leash Trained:  ● Training:  ● Pet Location: Findlay, OH ● Good with o Cats: o Dogs: Yes o Kids: Yes but recommend older kids. He is a puppy and XLG. ● Pupdate:This guy is exactly what one can expect from a Great Dane “puppy”. Clumsy, much like having a bull in a china shop. He loves all the toys, thinks he’s a lap dog, wants all the love and attention. He’s such a goofy boy, rarely serious. Has really started showing confidence and his personality in the last 4 weeks or so. Rarely barks but every once in a while barks (more like a howl) at the neighbor dogs. He’s alot of fun to have around. I think he would absolutely thrive in a household with another dog companion to play with. My girl tolerates him well but really doesn’t play too much. ● Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption. ● Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters. ● To apply to adopt from Just Giants Rescue, you can visit https://justgiants.org/adopt/ to fill out an application. ● All dogs adopted from Just Giants Rescue are up to date on shots, microchipped, and spayed or neutered.   Name: Rex Breed: Cane Corso Age: 1 1/2 year Weight: N/A  Special Needs: N/A  Leash Trained: N/A Training: N/A Pet Location: West End, NC Good with Cats: N/A Dogs: Yes Kids: Yes Pupdate: Hi, I am brand new to Just Giants Rescue and am still getting to know my foster family! Please check back to learn more about me!! UPDATE: So far Rex is a good sport about almost everything.  He is not a fan of water spray.  He wants to be involved in everything, loves car rides, allows touching all over, when really relaxed has invited a belly rub, seeks interaction with confidence and is prone to leaning against his handler. Rex is indifferent to the horses he shares a fence line with but alerts me with a soft bark when deer show up in the pasture.   Rex is confident without being dominant.  I tied him loosely and asked him to sit and wait while I placed his meal nearby on the porch.  It took a few tries, but he quickly realized that the food would not be offered unless he remained seated and tied.  The very next day I didn’t even have to tie him.  SO intelligent! I can’t say enough good things about this dog’s personality.  Rex is brave.  He is curious and not afraid of the vacuum, or other household items.  He wants to learn about anything new and is easily motivated by praise or food.  He does not trust water spray or the hair dryer but will take any opportunity to enter a vehicle.  Rex is not anxious or destructive,  Although he is crated regularly he does not bark excessively or chew his bedding. Rex sleeps through the night in his crate.  Rex is a velcro dog, but is capable of sustaining himself emotionally without constant reassurance.  I should also mention that Rex is prone to counter surfing but is easily redirected.     Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption.  Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters. Update 1/15/21: We are no longer accepting applications on Winter. Thank you Medical Hold: Undergoing treatment or receiving vaccines. Please contact JGRI for details on this dog. Thank you ● Name: Winter ● Breed: Great Pyreness ● Age: 8 mths ● Weight: ● Special Needs: Dog not like Chickens ● Leash Trained: ● Training: ● Pet Location: Hinckley, IL ● Good with o Cats: Yes o Dogs: Yes o Kids: Yes ● Pupdate: Winnie/Winter loves being outside and playing in the snow. She is good in her crate and does need to be crated when not supervised, for her own safety -She is a chewer; dog bed, throw rugs, blankets, and yes, she does have appropriate things to chew on, she just prefers the other items. Winnie/Winter is still afraid of non-carpeted floors, we bought 20’ of carpet runner to get her from her crate area, through the kitchen and to the back door to go outside. She will venture over small un-carpeted areas, but large open areas are too scary!
