is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (puppies under the age of 6 months may not be sterilized prior to adoption, if this is the case your adoption coordinator will discuss the process with you)  To adopt or learn more about: , you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, visit our website: WWW.SANDYPAWSRESCUE.COM\ Q: What is a Benefactor Puppy or Dog and why is their fee higher? Dogs and puppies with benefactor or higher adoption fees are sometimes purebred dogs or other rescue dogs that are in high demand for one reason or another. They are typically quickly adopted, even with their higher fees. Their increased adoption fees allow them to act as benefactors to other dogs in our care that require special medical care and a better chance at adoption. Some dogs spend over a year in our care and require expensive surgeries, heartworm treatment and professional training. Benefactor dogs help support the care of the dogs most in need with Sandy Paws Rescue. ** PLEASE READ: If a dog/puppy is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. In some cases this dog may be pending an adoption already, and their profile has not been updated yet. Please note, SPR does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated otherwise. All breeds listed are educated best estimates by transferring shelter staff, our volunteers or our vets. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them the All American MUTT.  Our dogs are rescued from various situations (kill-shelters, owner surrenders, strays, etc). It is most likely that both their parents were strays and mixes of some sort. If you are interested in this dog, you MUST submit an application. Sandy Paws Rescue does not a have a public shelter in Mass, so there is no building you can visit without an appointment. Our dogs live in private foster homes or boarding kennels down south until adopted, or in some cases in our very small private kennel facility on Martha's Vineyard and foster care homes through out MV, Cape Cod and other parts of MA. A large majority of our dogs are adopted/spoken for prior to transport and release from state mandated isolation. To learn more about our rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of FAQ’s on our website at WWW.SANDYPAWSRESCUE.COM. **The FIRST step in adopting an animal from our rescue is to submit a completed adoption application. show less

Clive is a nervous boy who was found as a stray so everything is new to him right now. We're thinking he probably had a tough life thus far as he's hesitant to lend his trust and we're only just seeing bits of his personality after a few weeks with him. He enjoys other pups and follows one of our larger females around for guidance and would likely do best in a home with another confident dog. He will need a patient home willing to give him the time and space he needs to continue building his confidence and just learning how to be a dog. Adopter must be willing to work with a trainer. Child free home.  Clive is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. This kiddo is still looking for a home  Mr. Vinny (aka Ricco), and he is looking for a loving family. He is almost 4yrs old , and his family wanted to euthanize him , only because their apartment wouldn't allow him to live there. He is a boxer mix, neutered, fully vaccinated,  and heart worm negative.  Despite all the stress this little man has been through, he still sees the good in people.  He already knows sit , lay down, and has been improving with his leash skills. He is good with big or small dogs, not fully tested with cats. We have now learned that he enjoys playing in the water, and does great for bath time. Ricco is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered.
