Honey came to NovaStar after being a street dog for most of her life.  She was filled with heartworms and fluid and looked like she was pregnant.  The kind lady who turned her in had been trying to catch year for several years and watched Honey have puppies year after year after year.  Finally, days away from death, Honey allowed her rescuer to help her.  Honey was taken to the vet the next day and was diagnosed with, what we all feared, severe heartworm infestation.  After drawing an extremely large amount of fluid and getting some medications, Honey was sent home to see if she could pull through.  She was taken to one of our wonderful fosters, and within a few days, Honey started to improve.  The results were remarkable.  This little dogs will to live exceeds all of our expectations.  She is now at the point where we can consider a furever home for her.  This is an amazing little dog.  She has the most soulful brown eyes.  Honey has been treated for heartworms but due to the damage done she will be on heart meds for the rest of her life.  She is fully vetted and started on all preventative medications.  She will be ready for her own family shortly, and whomever has the privilege of adopting this girl, will truly be the lucky ones.  The vet estimates her to be between 3-4 years old and she needs to be the ONLY PET.  NO CATS AND OLDER KIDS ONLY.  show less
