Pearl is as sweet as she is beautiful, and she should win Mama of the Year! This stunning young lady was found at an apartment complex with her two newborn kittens and brought to the Mesquite shelter. A little 2-week-old, orphaned tabby in desperate need of a mama was there. To save him, the staff gave him to Pearl, who adopted him. Pearl nursed him, groomed him and taught him to be a strong, fearless little man. They created a special bond and he is still her little shadow. Pearl is a very affectionate 2-3 year old girl and welcomes pets from everyone and loves attention. She likes to be picked up and carried around while gently receiving head scratches. She'll even nuzzle her little head against your shoulder while you hold her. Pearl's foster mom thinks she will easily adapt to a new environment, but she does require lots of bright windows for birdwatching and sun bathing. When her kittens are napping, and she gets to be a kitten herself, she loves to play with yarn, cat nip and shoe laces. She loves to talk to you, and has the cutest little "purr-meow" she does to let you know she's here and wanting love or play. Don't worry, it's not loud or annoying. It's adorable.  She loves to rub against her foster dad's feet, so we know she will be happy with a mom, dad or both. She hasn't met any kids, but we think she will enjoy being around them if they are gentle, calm and understand she's a kitty and not a toy. She's very intuitive and nurturing, so if you have a bad day, she will likely come comfort you. We have not yet introduced her to dogs or other cats, but with a proper introduction and time, we think she will get along with other pets. However, she is a dominant cat, so she would do best with calm dogs and/or younger, more submissive cats.  show less
