Gidget and Smiley are a bonded pair of girls who will only be adopted TOGETHER. Gidget is a lively fun, little dog and these two love to play together. Smiley was raised in a hoarding situation in an outside pen with many other dogs, and was not socialized as a puppy, so she is nervous around new people. If you give her time and patience, she will come for pets and ear rubs. She is a good girl, who is quiet and very gentle, and she loves car rides. Both dogs enjoy toys and wrestling and napping together.  Both of the girls are young adults, so an ideal home will be willing to take them for walks and have a securely fenced yard. This pair is NOT recommended for a family with young children.  If you are reading this, we are still accepting applications on this pet.  Our Adoption Process: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo an in person or virtual home visit from an RHS representative. Complete Application.  https://www.richardsonhumanesociety.org/adopt/ Phone Interview. Compatible applicants will be forwarded to a counselor who will contact the applicant for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in. We will try to include the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at your home or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $125 for cats. Hi, I'm Jagger! I have gorgeous eyes and a beautiful coat and I absolutely love people! I like meeting new people and dogs when I'm out on a walk, but I like it even more when my humans pet me or cuddle with me on the couch. Give me a treat or play a game of tug-of-war and I'll be one happy pup. I have an issue moving one of my rear legs that makes me walk a bit funny, but that doesn't slow me down at all. If you throw my ball in the back yard, I'm still going to sprint to go fetch it. I'll do best in a house with more than one human in it and I get along great with other dogs. I've never been around cats or small children before. If you've got time to play with me and a nice back yard for playing fetch, if love to be part of your family! Hi, I'm Jemma! My foster family says I'm very smart and that I have perfect house manners! I love affection, but I don't demand it. I want to please you! I would prefer to be an only dog in a calm and peaceful environment, though, so I'm not going to be the right fit for a family with little children. I have made a kitty friend though. Since I'm part beagle, I need a home with a securely fenced yard. At 34 lbs, I'm a great size for a companion. I love to bark at squirrels and when people come to the door, but I'm pretty quiet overall. Are you my forever home? Ringo is a handsome 5 year old male Black Lab. He longs for attention and love from his humans, and will stay by your side every second of the day possible. Although quite large, he loves to cuddle but won't jump on furniture or beds without permission. He is smart and will do well with some light positive reinforcement training on basic commands like sit, lay down, etc. He is not currently living with another dog but has gotten along great with dog visitors in the foster home. With proper introductions and transition, he would be fine sharing a home with brother and sister pups!   Sweet Ringo is a lady's man! His ideal family will be a household with at least one adult female and a reasonably active lifestyle or at the least, a backyard for playing catch and running around. He prefers ping pong balls to tennis balls. He is wonderful with respectful toddlers and small babies - like a gentle giant. However, for his activity level needs, his new home might consist of older children that want to go out and play with him!  Please say hi to sweet Roo!  Roo is a love bug who loves nothing more than to snuggle with her person.  She's an older dog, so is calm and easy to be around.  Roo loves to go on walks, car rides and where ever you'd like to take her - your perfect day is her perfect day.  Well, more accurately, being with you is her perfect day.  :-) Being an older gal, she's has some "baggage" (don't we all):  she's not crazy about other dogs (prefers keeping you to herself) and has a kidney condition which can be controlled by diet.  Easy peasy. If you'd like to know more about Roo, please fill out an application at www.richardsonhumanesociety.com and a counselor will be in touch! Please meet Shay.  RHS rescued him from Collin County Animal Shelter.  He is 45 lbs and estimated to be 6 yrs old.  He has loads of personality tucked into this little goofy face.  His foster mom said that he is a wonderful dog and he has not met any person he doesn't like.  He welcomes people with a little dance and wags his docked tail vigorously.  He is very loving and cuddly.  He never says no to tummy rubs.   Due to his breed, he needs daily exercise.  He'll be a good walking/jogging buddy with some leash training, as true to heeler form he can tend to want to chase things that move faster than he does.  He gets along well with most other dogs, but can be reactive to bigger/aggressive dogs - so only nice dogs should apply ;-).  He is not a big fan of cats (I don't blame him). He will fit well with an active family that enjoys walking him daily.  A dog playmate will help to get his energy out.  It'll be a plus if you're familiar with the breed.   If you are reading this, we are still accepting applications on this pet.  Our Adoption Process: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. Sparky wants someone to love him. He is very skittish with new people but once he warms up to you he will be your best friend. Sparky was very neglected and abused in his past life.  He was just skin and bones when we got him. He is a healthy weight now and he is doing really well at learning to trust people again.  Sparky is a very special dog and he requires a patient person who is willing to work with him.  He is very skittish when meeting with strangers and he has his own timing to warm up to different people.  His adopter needs to beware of his bite history.  When he is nervous and being threatened, he may bite if you reach out to him.  Of course, he doesn't do that to people he knows well.  We also do not want him to go to a family with young children.   If you are reading this, we are still accepting applications on this pet.  Our Adoption Process: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria.
