I am Princess, as you can see, the name suits me well since I am regally stunning! I am playful, gentle, cuddly and goofy, but as a through and through German Shepherd I am also smart, energetic and protective of my people and home. You can count on me to let you know immediately when a stranger is at the door! I love to spend time with my people, playing with kids and other dogs, or going for long walks. By the way, not to brag, but my foster mom says I have great leash manners. I am also house and crate trained, and know basic commands like sit, down and stay, and I am eager to learn more!... Hint, I love food, so it is easy to train me! As a work breed, I need a good amount of daily exercise and structure. I really thrive when sticking to a schedule (meals time, walks, potty breaks, play & bed time) My ideal furever home would be with an active person or a family, who would take me for long walks, hikes or jogs. Perhaps somebody who works from home, since I love to be at your side and cuddle. Please note, due to her breed and age, Princess must have access to a good size backyard (she wouldn't do well in an apartment). Experience with the breed or working dogs is MANDATORY since GSDs require training and a life purpose. We will not accept applications from new dog owners. Princess is very loving and smart, and has so much potential. If you understand the breed and have the time and love that she deserves, please fill out an adoption application. This love bug will be a perfect member of your family! ****Prior to filling out an application or contacting RHS, please completely read the instructions below.**** ALL ADOPTERS/FOSTERS MUST LIVE WITHIN 60 MILES OF RICHARDSON, TX. RHS IS NOT A SHELTER; OUR PETS LIVE IN FOSTER HOMES IN THE DFW AREA. Adoption Process: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events every Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $125 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets.
