If there is a dog with more joy, I have not found her.  If there is a dog less dimmed by their surrounding events, I have not met them.  Alani is full of joy, life, and all things exuberant. She is young and full of energy, but if you can match it by giving her a walk and some yard time each day, then you will be blessed with a creature so loving and grateful that you will wonder each day how you got so lucky.  She is smart as a whip and learns as fast.  Knows sit, down, stand - any order.  Working on stay, but not too worried. Alani is good with all humans and other dogs, has not been exposed to cats and may knock down a small child with said exuberance, so we would recommend kids older than 5.  Big yard a plus, but not required.   ****Prior to filling out an application or contacting RHS, please completely read the instructions below.**** ALL ADOPTERS/FOSTERS MUST LIVE WITHIN 60 MILES OF RICHARDSON, TX. Bluebell is a loving girl with striking green eyes. Taken into our program from a local shelter with a litter of kittens that she lovingly raised; Bluebell is enjoying the quiet life of a safe, indoor kitty in her foster home (and as with all our animals, she is now spayed and more comfortable than ever). While she is doing very well there, she wants nothing more than to find her forever home where she can receive undivided human companionship and affection.  Bluebell is playful when you want to interact with her, but also settles down to relax on the couch or rug. She loves to cuddle up in her owner’s bed at night. In her ideal home she would be the only pet, not having to share human attention. When provided with scratching surfaces, she is generally not destructive, but may nibble on paper once in a while, a habit she should outgrow in time. If you are reading this, we are still accepting applications on this pet.  Chip Grey is a 4 year old Schnauzer Yorkie mix with a sweet, funny personality to make your heart melt.  He loves to play with his foster brothers and sisters... but his favorite thing to do is sit in your lap and sleep right next to you!  He insists!  If you're watching tv or reading, he wants to be right next to you or in your lap.  He welcomes you home with bounces!   Chip loves toys and sitting at the window or door to see people go by. He walks great on a leash and does excellent on car rides.  He does shed some but with regular brushing his coat is lovely. He's looking for a dog-experienced adopter who will give him the attention and space he needs to be happy. Chip bonds very strongly with his person. His adopter will need to be very patient while he adjusts to a new situation and give him time to settle in. He's not an instant velcro dog, but when he bonds it's very strong. New situations are difficult for him. He does have a bite history when provoked or frightened but none have been severe.  Chip would prefer a home with no children under 18 because he doesn’t like to be disturbed while he sleeps. (Who does?) He will snap at you if you wake him.  Chip needs to be on a leash 100% of the time when outside for walks and potty breaks or car rides.  A solidly fenced yard is preferred since Chip can escape and go exploring through small holes. ****Prior to filling out an application or contacting RHS, please completely read the instructions below.**** ALL ADOPTERS/FOSTERS MUST LIVE WITHIN 60 MILES OF RICHARDSON, TX. Dexter is, quite simply, an amazing dog.  He loves all people and other dogs.  Be careful if you sit down, however, as he sees that as a clear invitation to come and curl up in your lap.  He's very clever (his name suits him), learns quickly, already knows basic commands like sit, stay and come.   Dexter is well mannered, with just the right amount of puppy rambunctiousness and a whole lot of love. Dexter's ideal home is with a family or person who's committed to having a dog. That means walks, playtime, engagement, interaction.  Good food, good cuddles.  Love, patience and kindness.   Basic stuff that we all need - dogs are not much different than us in that respect.  If you happen to have another dog - BIG BONUS.  If not, you'll do just fine.  :-) If you are reading this, we are still accepting applications on this pet. **PLEASE READ BEFORE FILLING OUT APPLICATION**Sweet Filomena (aka:Meena) came to us in February (right after the Big Freeze). Up until then she had lived her entire (short) life,  outside with 30+ other dogs. She had almost no human contact and because of the very limited interaction with humans she is very fearful.  Meena has made wonderful progress since she has been with us. It has been very slow progress. Baby Steps!! Lots of patience!  Meena is very smart. She knows her name. She will run outside to do her "business" when called and wait anxiously for me to call her back in. She LOVES her corner in my living room. She spends 95% her time in the corner. She only comes out to use the restroom and will come out and explore with the other dogs when I am not in sight.  She get very excited and "bouncy" at meal time. She will bound around the living room and watch me (from a very safe distance) prepare her bowl. As soon as I move towards her with the food, it's back to her corner. Food is placed near by and she will come out and eat it when I am back in kitchen. Meena, currently, is not a big fan of touching. She is choosing to "chill out" with us closer to where we are sitting, and will sniff us. She is just now (11/5) starting to show interest in going for walks with the "pack" . Everything outside is new and scary, so these are baby steps. Meena is a BEAUTIFUL dog with LOTS of potential.  She needs a quiet home and someone who has lots of patience.  She would do well in a home with another calm dog who can show her the "ropes" . She MUST have a secure backyard, as she is a flight risk.  If you are willing to give Meena the time and love she needs, please fill out an application.   ****Prior to filling out an application or contacting RHS, please completely read the instructions below.**** ALL ADOPTERS/FOSTERS MUST LIVE WITHIN 60 MILES OF RICHARDSON, TX. He is a purr machine and wants nothing more than someone to cuddle with and love him forever. Kyler also loves playing with toys, especially hair ties, and can be quite vocal during play with the cutest mews ever. He gets along great with other cats and would be okay with a cat friendly dog. Kyler is neutered, litter box trained, doesn't mind nail trimmings or getting his medicine, and is estimated to be born around June 2020. Kyler does have a mild heart murmur which currently requires medicine every 12 hours. He may grow out of this condition, but will require medicine for the rest of his life if not. All dressed up in his tux, and he has a special place to go: your loving home! This young guy’s purr box never stops, he is contented as can be. Magpie has the ideal disposition of being both a loving kitty and playful whichever you want him to! He is happy to relax and be carried around in your arms, which is quite extraordinary for a kitten, but when offered a wand toy or laser pointer dot, off he goes to entertain you. Magpie is very laid-back and will probably like any age of human companionship. Mags happily accepts grooming, even nail trimming, no struggling from him! He is a most friendly and out-going boy, as the saying goes, “he never met a stranger.” He is a favorite at Meet the Pet events because he will lick anyone’s fingers that come put a hand close enough. His favorite treat is a cat gel lick stick. Due to his easy-going nature, he will get along with other cats and dogs with proper introduction. We would prefer if Magpie was adopted with his sibling Starling, or into a home with another animal. If you are reading this, we are still accepting applications on this pet. Maris is a playful older kitten, she loves climbing on the cat tree and playing Queen of the mountain on the top shelf.  She was very skittish at first, took a few days for her to warm up, but once the motor started she was all about head scratches, belly rubs and quickly becomes your best friend when food is involved.  She loves playing with other cats, and would do well in a home with other pets.  Maris is litter box trained, eats both wet & dry kitten food.   If you are reading this, we are still accepting applications on this pet. Rhett is very sweet and is still pretty shy with strangers. He has relaxed more in his foster home and will actually initiate contact. Rhett can be a little vocal some to people and will occasionally let you hear his purr. He is good with other cats, dogs and kids. Rhett plays with the other kitties in his foster home, ignores the dog, but most of the time tends to get on a high spot and watch everything going on below.  Rhett sleeps on top of our amoire, he's very quiet and will come to you for lovings.  He is very shy and will take a while to come around in new surroundings.  He is litterbox trained, loves treats and has a great appetite.  He's not big on being held, but will allow the occasional hug or two if you must.  He tends to come to you when he wants some attention. Rhett loves to look out the window and watch the happenings of our neighborhood. If you are reading this, we are still accepting applications on this pet. I cannot for the life of me understand why I am still in a foster home, or understand why I have not been snatched up by my "forever" people. Perhaps a higher power has known my perfect person has not yet been available? Or maybe it's because I don't photograph well...I'm very charming and my profile/physique just don't come across well in pics. I have striking, good looks! I've been with my foster family since Jan 2021, and we love each other a lot, but I'd really like to find my forever home.  I like to go on daily walks, and I am well-behaved in the house, so I do not use or need a kennel. I'm not too big, not too little, at 45lbs, and a sophisticated guy at around 7yrs of age, so you don't get silly, puppy antics from me. I love all people, of all ages. I'm loving, cuddly and never turn down a tummy rub.  I prefer dogs to cats, so if you have another dog at home, I could be okay with that. I'd prefer an opportunity to meet first, to see if we can be mates. I'd be very pleased to meet you, so just reach out and let's arrange something! ****Prior to filling out an application or contacting RHS, please completely read the instructions below.**** ALL ADOPTERS/FOSTERS MUST LIVE WITHIN 60 MILES OF RICHARDSON, TX. I’m Shorey. I’m such a good, sweet little girl. I love my human and my foster furbrother and fursister. We play in the backyard catching tennis balls and chasing squirrels. I stayed with a nice lady that has a cat for a week and we got along just fine.  Belly rubs are one of my very favorite things. I know how to walk well on a leash, I know how to sit on command (especially if you have a treat). I’m learning to stop and backup on command. I am a little jumpy around loud noises (vacuum cleaner) and surprise noises, but I generally just run to my safe place (crate or bedroom). It takes me a little while to get used to people, but when I do I am happy and comfortable with those that show me love. I fell in love immediately with my new friend Madeline, she is 7 years old. We played catch with the water coming out of the water hose. Fun!! I haven't been around a lot of men, I know I will love one who is patient and nurturing with me.  ****Prior to filling out an application or contacting RHS, please completely read the instructions below.**** ALL ADOPTERS/FOSTERS MUST LIVE WITHIN 60 MILES OF RICHARDSON, TX.
