Name: Amaya Suspected Breed(s): Cattle dog mix Gender: Female Age: 6 mos old as of 4/1/22 Weight: ~40 lbs Personality: Friendly, playful, easygoing, independent. shy, goofy/funny, good running partner, rambunctious, smart, eager-to please, trustworthy, loyal, energetic, affectionate, gentle, timid/fearful, snuggler, and mischievous. Observations with Dogs: Good with other dogs Observations with Cats: Untested Observations with Kids: Untested House Training Progress: Amaya is still working on house training. Crate Training Progress: Amaya is making good progress on crate training Location: DC area foster. Rescued From: Roane County, WV Additional Information: 6-month-old Amaya has the MOST kissable face. This speckled, floppy-eared lady is like the dog version of the energizer bunny; she is fun, excitable, and wants to hang out with you 24/7. Amaya has literally endless love to give, and she will never hesitate to let you know how much she adores you! While she may be shy at first, she is quick to open up and show that she has complete trust in you. This little lady loves to hang out with her humans and is up for anything, whether that be a walk, playtime, or just having a snuggle on the couch. Amaya has a lot of energy, so she is always excited and eager to meet new friends and loves when guests come to visit (the more people the more pets, right?)! This friendly gal's #1 goal is to be your BFF, and she will show it by being your shadow; whatever you're doing, she will happily tag along. Amaya makes every activity into a party, even changing the sheets! She also has endless affection, and when it's bedtime she loves to cuddle in bed with her humans. Amaya enjoys walks but sometimes gets too excited about all the fun sights and smells and has trouble focusing and remembering that walks are also potty breaks. She has endless curiosity, and is interested in anything and everything! This little lady would be best suited for a home that can patiently work on some basic training with her, since she is learning these skills for the first time and needs some gentle direction and practice. However, she has been making progress on her training (she is adapting very well to her crate) and knows "sit." Amaya is clever and resourceful, she just needs some guidance and redirection! Amaya's sweet demeanor and loving personality is quick to steal hearts, and she is looking for a forever home that has lots of love and patience (and she has so much love to give!). We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDCK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.
