If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adopt-a-city-kitty.html City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.  Cat specific: Rabies, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia vaccines. They are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a negative mother in foster care.  Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. Name: Jack Suspected Breed(s): DSH Gender: Male Age: 2 years Weight: 9 lbs Personality: Snuggler, Shy, Gentle, Friendly, Playful  Observations with Dogs: Unknown Observations with Cats: Loves his sister Jill and needs to be adopted with her Observations with Kids: Gentle with kids in his household, but a little skittish around other kids House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Galax, VA Additional Information: Jack is a sweet cat who enjoys watching the outside world and birds from the windows, running up and down the stairs, and especially LOVES belly rubs. Like loves them to the point of sprawling on the floor on his back to make sure you know his belly is, in fact, available and ready for a rub. Jack is shy with strangers but his trusted people are the center of his universe. He'll shower his lucky humans with affection, snuggling on the sofa in the evenings and in bed with the kids during nights, and his favorite spot is on top of a laptop. Yes, while you are working, but it's merely a gentle reminder that hey, you might need a little break. Jack loves to be fed and has a ceremony in helping choose the food and watching as it goes in his bowl.  Jack is very close to his sister Jill. They might have even gone up a hill together that one time. The pair will play, snuggle and do most things together. Are you looking for a pair of sweeties to join your home? Apply today! Jack has had age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes a veterinary exam, deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. An adopter will need to agree to cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. They will not be considered as singles. ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Just sayin'. Beyond her gorgeous looks, she's very independent and adventurous. She can be a little shy when around strangers but quickly comes around. Jill might not be much of a snuggler but she will demand pats and loves to be around while you cook, clean or watch TV. She's not a demanding lap cat, but when you work from home she will be on top of the desk or very close by during her naps. She's not into judging your housekeeping, but Jill likes to have things clean and tidy around her and has her favorite spots around the house, especially her tower. She is a little more courageous than her brother Jack and loves playing with her toys, watching the birds from the window and following flies around the house. During the warmer months she loves hanging out on a patio or balcony, if you happen to have one. Jill is very intelligent and answers to her name. She is very attached to her brother Jack and the pair spends most of their time together.  Are you looking for a pair of sweeties? Apply today to make Jill and Jack part of your family! Name: Cinder Suspected Breed(s): DSH/Tabby Gender: Male Age: 2 years Weight: 8 lbs Personality: Affectionate, Quiet, Gentle, Low-energy Observations with Dogs: Unknown Observations with Cats: Good with cats and plays Observations with Kids: Unknown House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Wythe County, VA Additional Information: Are you ready to make Cinder-fella’s dreams come true? This guy got off to a rough start but his luck turned when he was rescued by City Kitties. Cinder is a low key, quiet fellow who will make a terrific side kick. He can strut his stuff and hang with the other cats when he wants to, but, if he finds himself needing to regroup away from the commotion, a quick nap in the closet does the trick for him. Cinder has adapted quickly and easily to big city life, and he even gets along with his foster’s resident kitty. This guy likes to check out his people to say hello, ask for pets, or just join the family for breakfast. Cinder likes hanging out and is prone to hopping onto a chair next to you to see what’s up. He also likes to join family on the couch for a cuddle or snooze.  Cinder is even cool with belly rubs (once he gets to know you). Overall Cinder is very low maintenance, low key, gentle, and sweet—he’ll play if you like, but some snuggles and companionship are really all he needs. Cinder-fella is awesome, so put on a shoe that fits, pop into your own carriage, and take this guy to the ball, er, your home—he’s a keeper! ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Name: Daisy Suspected Breed(s): DSH Gender: Female Age: 1 year Weight: 8 lbs Personality: Sweet, Affectionate, Lap Cat, Playful, Friendly, Adventurous Observations with Dogs: Good with dogs and ignores Observations with Cats: Good with cats with proper introduction Observations with Kids: No observations with children, but would likely do fine  House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Roane County, WV Additional Information: Daisy is an affectionate cat who is done raising her baby and ready to settle into her forever home as an empty nester. She is a sweet, outgoing and playful girl who was a great mom to her kitten but very much prefers humans. Daisy is all about people and wants her pets all the time.  Her beautiful tuxedo coat is very soft and she purrs as soon as you touch her. She is very easy going and likes new people, because that means more pets! Daisy has the makings of being a lap cat, except she has a hard time sitting still if you are petting her because she wants to lean in and all the pets she can. Daisy is still a young girl so she still has zoomies a few times a day and runs around the house playing. She's very over being a mother and now wrestles with her baby (who is getting adopted shortly). When not showing her affection, Daisy loves hanging out near an open window enjoying the nice weather. When you want Daisy by your side, just give her a call and she will come, just like a dog. Daisy can't wait to start her kitten-free life in her forever home - apply to adopt this sweet tuxedo mama today!  ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. He loves to purr, meow, and even grunts and snorts sometimes when he’s happy. He’s good with entertaining himself and loves to play with any kind of toy. If you want to keep him busy, buy him a laser toy or something stuffed with a bell and he’ll be busy for hours. Elf is very comfortable with people—he can probably get along with most everybody! He takes a bit to warm up, but once he does, he’ll be happy to sleep with you, play with you, or just hang out near you. This guy would also likely do well in a house with another cat if you’re looking for a second in command. He is deferential to other cats—both excited by them but he also knows boundaries and won’t get too close if warned! Little Elf is an easy going snuggler who will fit right in. He has great litter box manners and is a non-picky eater. If you’re looking for a sleek, sweet furry friend, Elf is your guy! Name: Ellie Suspected Breed(s): DSH Gender: Female Age: 1 y/o Weight: 6lbs Personality: Affectionate, Friendly, Adventurous, Curious, Playful, Energetic, Vocal Observations with Dogs: Unknown Observations with Cats: Best as only cat Observations with Kids: Gentle with kids House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Roane County, WV  Additional Information: Ellie is a super affectionate, energetic, and playful cat who cannot wait to find her forever home! She is a very sweet tabby with big, beautiful green eyes. She is a very low maintenance but social girl who would make a great new addition to your home. Ellie settled in very quickly once she arrived in her foster home and was so anxious to explore that she started scratching at the door and meowing to be let out of her room by the end of her first day. Needless to say, she was very eager to explore the rest of her new foster home! Ellie loves to follow her foster mom around the house and chirp and chirp and let out the occasional cute meow, asking for pets or wet food, or both. Sometimes she walks across her foster mom's laptop to show off her pretty stripes to foster mom's colleagues. She loves to be picked up and stretch out her paws from her foster mom's shoulder to make air biscuits while purring softly. Ellie shares her foster home with three resident cats and loves to be in charge. She has a dominant personality with other cats and is vocal when she wants space, so she would do best as an only cat where she can be the leading lady.  While she clearly likes to be around her foster mom, Ellie is not a needy cat and is very well behaved! She sleeps quietly through the night in the cat cave in her foster mom's bedroom. Ellie loves toys, especially any kind of ball, fuzzy mice, catnip kicker toys, and especially the laser pointer! She even brings her toys into her foster mom's bedroom at night. Despite Ellie's love of toys, she is not one to destroy your stuff. She conveniently does not like to chew on important papers or cardboard boxes, or knock things off tables, like her foster sisters do. She loves belly rubs and playing with toys.  If you are looking for a social, playful cat who is low maintenance and a super well behaved gal, please consider adopting Ellie! ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. She has the softest fur and the prettiest symmetrical markings centered around a pink button nose. Eloise makes the gentlest purrs to thank you for pets, and she sounds like a proper little machine! She eagerly seeks out attention of humans and there's nothing better in her book than a good scratch on her chin. When not getting chin scratches and giving purrs, Eloise enjoys practicing her Elastigirl moves by  stretching into long skinny shapes, and she also loves a good mouse toy or five! Eloise has playful kitten characteristics without the wild kitten antics. This sweet girl can't wait to find a home.
