Bia is a Lab/White German Shepherd mix born on 1/13/2023. She was found in Texas with approximately 50 other dogs who had been left to fend for themselves. Bia was the lone survivor of her litter and with the help of various rescue partners, she made her way to Nebraska to start her new life! Bia loves outdoor adventures and will do great with an active owner or family. She likes kids but doesn't always understand her size and when she jumps it can be intimidating. Bia gets nervous around new people and recently had a hard time with a stranger in her house so we recommend an experienced owner with a training plan to help her overcome her fears and reactivity. She gets along with other dogs and doesn't mind playing rough. We think she would do great with having a "job" or skill such as agility training to keep her body and mind active. She is potty trained, kennel trained, and knows a couple of basic commands. Bonnie is a very friendly Rat Terrier and Chihuahua mix born approximately 8/26/2018 in Springfield, Missouri.  She reportedly lived outside and was neglected by an uncaring owner who threatened to shoot her.  Luckily, kind people intervened, and Bonnie is now in a Bullies-N-Beyond foster home. Dawsyn is an adorable blend of Great Pyrenees, Staffordshire Terrier and Bulldog, born July 16 2023.  Is there such a thing as being too sweet?  Probably not, but when describing Dawsyn, he comes close.  His foster mom describes him as “sweet and chill.”  He loves people and other dogs!  This is especially evident when his foster mom takes him out shopping in dog-friendly stores. Dottie is a cuddly Staffie/Bulldog, born in November, 2020.  She is doing well in her foster home.  Upon arrival, Dottie was submissive with other dogs, but she has now learned to stand up for herself with the resident dogs and does very well..  There are no children in her foster home, but we think Dottie would enjoy children who have been taught how to behave with pets.  However, during enthusiastic play, it's possible that this happy dog may topple very young children.  Dottie's future home should not include cats because Dottie views them as prey, which is also how she views bunnies and birds when she is out in the yard.  Dottie is kennel trained, but, when not in the kennel, she has not been destructive.  Since arriving in her foster home, Dottie has been gaining confidence when out in public, and she has learned to enjoy car rides.  She has learned that snuggling on the couch is heavenly.  Walking nicely on a leash is a skill that she is still working to perfect. Dottie is doing great with her house training, but she hasn't reliably mastered the skill of alerting when she needs to go outside.  Any puddles still occur by the door.   Dottie's background:  She was in the Dodge City shelter when she gave birth to our "Dodge City Litter." The shelter allowed us to take in her pups when they were of age but promised her original owner, that they could adopt her back. Shortly after Dottie's puppies came to Omaha, Dottie returned to the shelter when her owners left her tied to a tree and she chewed herself free. Dottie was then scheduled for euthanasia on November 1 but we couldn't let that happen! Dottie is now safely settling into her BNBR foster home. Elsa is approximately 2-3 years old and about 50 pounds. She is deaf but that doesn’t stop her from playing with other dogs and learning commands through sign language. She is very treat motivated and loves to be around people so training comes easy for her. Her food motivation has made her a little protective during feeding time and will need to eat and enjoy bones separate from other animals. She has really enjoyed playing with her foster brothers and has learned a lot from them so having a fur sibling would be good for her, but not required. She likes to chase cats so a home with no feline friends would be best for her. Elsa is very social and has been known to jump a fence to say hi to her neighbors so she will need to be supervised when outside. Cyrus was born 04/30/23 and is a beautiful mix of Staffordshire terrier and Mini Australian Sheppard! He loves attention and is up for playing with anyone willing to have some fun, human or dog. Cyrus loves playing tug and he’s not afraid to use his dashing good looks to try to win you over. He is almost fully potty trained and is very treat-motivated.  Cyrus was one of nine puppies born to Mama Ember who was brought to Nebraska after being dumped in the country in Oklahoma, she made it here just in time to deliver her babies in the safety of her foster home. There were some complications due to a breech puppy and Ember ended up being rushed to the vet for an emergency c-section for the delivery of her last two pups. Lacey is a sweet, 30-pound,Terrier mix, born 11/24/2022.  She is among the happiest dogs we have ever met.  She is very playful with dogs, cats, toys, and people, especially children.  She is a bit jumpy, and sometimes rough when excited or nervous so we recommend that her human playmates be at least age 8. Being very smart and curious, Lacey sometimes entertains herself by exploring.  She has never damaged furniture or done anything like chewing electrical cords — but she has found items and taken them outside or to her bed.  Shoes are a favorite.  The excuse “the dog ate my homework” could happen at your house if paper is left where she can find it.  Although Lacey is very smart, she can also be stubborn so teaching her sometimes requires patience.  Lacey is housebroken, but she hasn’t yet mastered giving cues when  she needs to be let out.  Following a good routine seems to solve the problem until she learns.  She also walks well on a leash.  Lacey is not a fan of butt and belly rubs, but she loves a good face smooshy! Moose is a Pit Bull Terrier puppy, born June, 2023.  He is a ball of energy and loves to play and wrestle with his foster sibling. Otto (formerly known as Rowdy) is a Terrier/Hound, born July 23, 2023.  This super sweet boy may seem shy when meeting new people, but doesn't take long for him to think everyone is his best friend.  He is easily intimidated when other dogs begin to play with him, but he quickly gets the idea and even plays roughly at times.  With people, he sometimes gets grabby but he is easily redirected.  Otto loves toys and chewing on things.  Luckily, he knows the "leave it" command if he gets into something that he should not have.  Otto is already kennel-trained and potty trained-- and he even rings a bell when he needs to go outside.  At this time, Otto may not be a good choice for apartment life since he has a tendency to bark, when excited. Pepper is a Shih Tzu/Poodle, born September, 2014.  This sweet senior will do best in a home where someone is home with her most of the time, perhaps a person working from home or retired. She is very shy and easily frightened by sudden movements and loud noises; therefore, she will do best with no children in her home.  She enjoys having the companionship of patient dogs her size who can help her learn daily routines, such as going out to potty, eating and playing. She ignores cats. When the weather cooperates, Pepper loves to sit in the sun and will sometimes take long naps outside. She also enjoys finding the sunniest spot in the home where she can nap. This princess prefers resting in a cozy dog bed or on a fluffy blanket, and the kennel is her safe place when the vacuum monster comes around.  She is interested in learning what goes on throughout the house and will follow her foster mom from room to room from a distance. Pepper does not like to have her kennel door closed so her foster mom leaves the door open, when possible. Pepper loves chicken chews and chicken jerky. She has learned very quickly that after her morning bathroom break, it is breakfast time and will sit quietly while watching it being prepared.  She is still learning not to take the food from other dogs. Pepper is not yet fully potty trained, but has come a long way. She knows the word "outside,” watches when the other dogs do their business, sees her foster mom praise them. and then earns that praise for herself.  She gets really excited when she gets praised, too.  After that, she is ready to go inside for the yummy treat that has been earned. Pepper enjoys her bath time.  Although she is nervous at first, the warm water eases her tension, and she enjoys a relaxing massage with the nice smelling shampoo.  She stands completely still and simply enjoys. Pepper is slow to trust and will need a home where she is allowed time to develop that trust. Raya was born Dec. 2022. Sailor, an American Staffordshire Terrier, was taken in as a stray by a vet clinic in Holden, KS where she gave birth to eight beautiful puppies in September. It is estimated that she was born in April, 2022. Sailor is currently thriving in her foster home where she enjoys ice cubes, peanut butter, and playing with her human kiddos. She gets along well with other dogs her size and will tell you how happy she is with grunts of delight!  When she hears "night night," she knows that it's bedtime, and this little smartie gets right in her kennel with a small treat.  She also knows "wait" and "gentle."  When playing fetch, she sits politely without being told.  When relaxing, Sailor enjoys watching the dog channels on YouTube.  We've learned that Sailor doesn't like loud noises, which seems to be her only negative trait.  We predict that Sailor will be a valued addition to some lucky family. Pearl is a Staffy mix puppy, born September 4, 2023.  She is sometimes slow to warm up to people so it's better if there are slow introductions at first.  Once she feels at home, her silly side comes out, and you may see her doing her army crawl or hopping with excitement.  Crinkly toys and teething toys are her favorites! Shaggy, born June 2017, was released from a breeding facility.  He is enjoying the comfort of his foster home and settling in nicely. As a breeder release, he had never touched grass or experienced love from humans but considering this, Shaggy has finally learned how to be a dog! He enjoys playing in the evenings and does little circles and a head tilt to let you know it is go-time. He absolutely loves playing with other dogs close to his size but if they are too much bigger than him, he is quite nervous and takes a while to warm up. He would be good as either an only dog or with a fur sibling around his size to play with. He has an eye that either didn't develop fully or was injured in the breeder's care and not treated, so he has a hard time seeing but as long as his human is nearby he will do his business outside. He is completely house-trained and has done so well that he does not have to be in a kennel! He does best when kept on a schedule though, so having someone who is home often, or even retired would be preferred. Shaggy would do well in a home with older kids because he has a tendency to growl if he doesn't know you. He needs someone who is patient and will slowly work to gain his trust. Once he trusts you, he will become your shadow and best cuddle buddy! He knows "outside" will do his business quickly and then will try to stay out for as long as he can! He has learned that fresh snow tastes pretty good and rain is not his favorite. Walking on a leash isn’t something Shaggy enjoys, he usually only has patience for a short walk in front of the house. He loves sun spots in front of windows and once he trusts you, he wants to cuddle all the time! Since he is missing a lot of his teeth, he doesn't like bones or chewys but he does enjoy softer treats that he can easily chew and digest.  He is around a resident cat which does not bother him and he would prefer a home with limited steps as he can only handle about three stairs. He will try to mark the shoes of visitors that have dogs at home but if you see him sniffing, he is easily redirected with a treat. Topaz is a handsome, young Scott American Bulldog, born 3/27/2021.
