Sweet, endearing and gentle Amber was pulled from our local shelter after being overlooked for over a hundred days.   She is simply an amazing girl.   Amber is fortunate enough to have been chosen by one of our very good fosters which helps us learn more about the pet.   She’s fine with two small dogs in the home, is great with cats and ‘doesn’t mind my dogs snooping around her den or even laying in it.”    Learning to wait ‘quietly’ to be let outside and to eat her breakfast, Amber is learning a lot from her new experience.   “She did fantastic in the passenger seat riding to the 7-11.”    Amber was left in the car and showed no indicationg of any separation; instead, she waited and watched quietly for her human to return.   And, ‘Amber’s a big cuddle monster” said her foster.   This girl weighs 50 lbs, is estimated to be around two years old.   Her black and tan coloring could be indicative of breeds such as the rottie, dachshund, black and tan coonhound, etc.    This sweety does have an adorable underbite.    show less

Bojangles is a super handsome Australian Cattle Dog estimated to be about a year old.   Just a happy, happy fellow who loves to play with his companion pets, Bo is quite content to chase a stick or ball for hours on end and, if the car door opens, he’s ready to ride.    If left alone outdoors, he occupies himself by tossing a stick in the air, flipping it with his paws and then tumbling over and over playing with the stick.   Weighing in at 44 lbs., this fellow is fairly lean.   Bo loves his bed after a hard day at play and sleeps quietly with four other large dogs on beds in the same room each night.   He will wake you if he needs to go outside during the night; and, this food motivated fellow is always eager for breakfast, a snack or the next meal.    Bojangles is crate trained and has learned several words.   If you are able to give this loyal companion a job or, at the very least, an active lifestyle or way to expend his energy, please submit an application. show less

Brock was fostered for several months and is perfectly house trained and crate trained.   “Brock is a perfect gentleman” said his foster mom as she described him.    Sadly, mom is moving and this two year old is back at our kennel …. and very much missing the dedicated time and attention.   This 59 lb. fellow is ‘a companion who has never met a human he didn’t like’.   He has learned several commands such as sit, down.   And, his zoomies are impressive - - you may think he’s part cutting horse. Bo does need a fenced in yard and room to run, exercise and expend energy. Brock loves to play when he’s outdoors and, if he doesn’t have a toy, he makes one….be it a stick, pinecone or weed.   Brock gives freely and instantly and you don’t have to prove yourself to earn his trust because he gives it in bulk.   He only wants a true friend in his human.   While Brock sleeps quietly all night outside his crate; but, his perfect bed is nestled and snuggled alongside his human in the human bed.      ‘Peanut butter may just be the key to his heart’ said his foster mom as she provided this delicious treat most often in a kong toy.   “He may try to shower with his human but it is only because he always wants to be included.”  If you're interested in meeting Brock and adopting him, please submit an application.   show less

Josh is a super handsome, wonderful fellow who loves his humans and is always excited and ready for the next car ride.    Josh is house and crate trained and loves attention.    At 38 lbs., this medium sized fellow is energetic, playful and loves being a companion for the right human.    Josh is roughly two years old and believed to be an Australian Cattle dog mix.   Because this pet has strong cattle dog herding tendencies, we want to match this pet in a household without children.   Josh should be an only dog and not be in a home with other pets including cats.  show less

Layla, Landon and Lucas arrived at Godbey Creek Canine from a nearby county - - all three are simply adorable!   Their black and red ticking, so typical of the ‘heeler’, is likely indicative of an Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) although they are definitely mixed with another smaller breed.   They love nothing better than to run and play, chase each other, frolic through the leaves and run straight back to the nearest human.    They have settled in quickly and knew exactly where to go into their kennel by the second time they came inside to crate.   We estimate that the precious pups are about eight to nine months old; they are fully vetted.  Sweet Layla is the most ‘human addicted’ of the group and also the smallest of the three at 20 lbs.   Lucas, the red heeler mix, is the largest weighing a tad over 30 lbs. and he’s the most energetic.    Landon, the middle weight at 22 lbs., takes his time to assess but warms up in a minute and likes being around people.   All three are learning leash manners rapidly.    show less

Marlo is making the most of her foster pup experience and it is absolutely heartwarming to witness. Only a week ago, Marlo cowered when she walked into the foster’s house. This gentle and very timid two year old girl has steadily progressed with each passing day. Every morning, sweet Marlo comes bounding out of her crate with her tail wagging. Still staying close to the floor as frightened dogs often do, it is clear that her joy and excitement is now stronger than her past sense of fear. She heads over to get her foster sisters out of bed and begins dancing and play bowing as the foster attaches her leash. As she steps outside, her legs flailing and tail still wagging, she gallops about the yard still wearing the goofiest of smiles. Her ability to be open and silly after a long stint in a terrifying shelter is a true testament to her strength and loving nature. Marlo loves to lope around the yard and make new dog friends. She’s calm for her age but needs some space to play Marlo really likes to play with other dogs and seems more interested in people if her doggie friends get attention from them. She even enjoys the company of the backyard chickens. And yes, she play bows with them as well. Marlo currently prefers to lay in her crate during the day or quietly watch wildlife from the deck. She will quietly sneak up and lick your hand or ask you to pet her neck and under her face. She’s very observant and it is clear that she is often assessing a situation before engaging. This leads us to think she’s a quick learner. That being said, her interest in human contact and playing is a big step forward for a former introvert. This sweet two year old needs a quiet home and family that understands that she needs time and patience to overcome her shelter time. It took time for her to retreat into herself and her recovery will be no different If you have a kind hand, can take plenty of time to show this beautiful girl compassion and patience and respect her emotional and physical needs, you will see the beautiful girl that Marlo truly is. She will be a great companion for the right adoptee because she’s a remarkable dog. We will place her carefully and prefer someone who has experience working with pets who take time to adjust and recover. A privacy or very high fence is high on our wish list for Ms. Marlo. Momo is a 1.5 year old, 7 lbs. fellow who was one of three pets removed from a household by animal control.    The veterinarian concluded that Momo had a severe ear infection and could have been struck about the head.   As a result, this little fellow has a permanent head tilt.   While the infection was treated, Momo lost 85% of his hearing.   BUT, this doesn’t stop him at all.    His new family will need to teach him the routine and show him the ropes around the home.   Tiny Momo follows around his human looking for signs of what to do or what you want.   Do not assume he is a pet who can be crated and he should not be around small children - - he dislikes both!  He DOES get along well with cats.  Momo has been neutered, microchipped, has been vaccinated for rabies, parvo / distemper, bordetella, dewormed and is on heart & flea/tick prevention. show less

Beautiful little Niche is an adorable, 38 lbs. girl who appears to have some Aussie and perhaps cattle dog in her heritage.    One year old, Niche is a cuddler and loves to be near her human.   She’s content to lie at your feet and chew on a bone or lie beside you on the sofa nestled in blankets.   This active girl loves to run and play, adores every human she meets and gets along very well with other dogs where she interacted with several dogs while staying at her foster’s farm.    And, she loves her toys, especially her chew toys.   This cute faced girl with a reddish chocolate nose quickly made friends here at Godbey Creek Canine and is out with a different playmate almost every day.   One of her favorite past times is to be outdoors taking walks; and, she's become adept at walking on a leash in record time.   This little girl LOVES to eat, is very food motivated and thus should be relatively easy to train.   Niche is fully crate trained, has had no accidents in the crate and is super quiet when crated.    She will do best in a home with no cats and hasn’t been out in public a lot.   So, walking in areas where there is traffic stresses her as she’s afraid of cars.   One foster reported digging but her second foster has not seen any digging.   She has not been a digger while at the rescue and out in the play pastures.  If you are interested in Niche, please submit an application.    show less

Olive is a vivacious, out going young lady who loves being spoiled.    Her Australian Cattle Dog heritage is evident in her enjoyment of toys and having something in her mouth much of the time.   This two year old, 35 lbs. girl loves walks in the park, has over a dozen playmates and gets along great with cats.    One of our caregivers affectionately calls her ‘our gorgeous little princess’.    This little girl adores her caregivers and thoroughly enjoys a walk or hike on the leash.   She lives for her next car ride which is the highlight of her day.   Olive is a solid, dedicated companion for the right person who can see the true beauty in her and who leads an active lifestyle.   Because Ms. Olive can be active, she isn’t recommended with small children.   Olive is fully house trained, does require a fenced in yard and we would be thrilled for her to have a canine companion.    As always, we introduce our pets to any possible future siblings before they go home for a foster to adopt trial. “An absolutely darling little girl” is how Olivia’s foster describes her.    This little 10 lbs., 1.5 year old mix is believed to have some Cheweenie in her.   She’s quiet as a mouse, easy going and great with both adults and children.   Little Olivia is afraid of other dogs as she has not been socialized.    (If you only weighed 10 lbs, you would be afraid of others as well).    Ms. Olivia would thrive in an environment where she could be the only girl, have a fenced in yard, and enjoy lots of nice long walks.    This little jewel came from an environment where other siblings around her froze to death.    We will work diligently to find her the absolute best possible home environment for life.   Olivia is up-to-date on all medical but has tested positive for heartworms and will receive the heartworm treatment before she goes to her new home.    Please remember that small dogs such as Olivia can live well beyond 15 and sometimes survive into their twenties.    Our objective is match the right pet, right home environment and right pet.    We place our pets with every intention of them going to their final home. show less

Dear sweet Rome was surrendered to a local shelter where he patiently waited his turn while the local caregivers rooted for his release and advocated for this fellow.     Finally, Rome’s big day came and he was free at last!    This 50 lbs. mixed breed wants nothing more than to be a lap dog and spend every second with his human.   Rome has so many competing characteristics that it’s hard to discern his breed but his coloration tells us he likely has either cattle dog or retriever in his background, his body build shows lab characteristics and his face and head looks Staffie.     Rome is recommended as an only dog.   show less

Super handsome Ryder is a gentle fellow who loves humans, does well with his walking companions and has a happy disposition.   Although this believed-to-be husky / shepherd mix has spent his life on an outside chain since he was a puppy, this three year old’s human sought us out to place Ryder well and to get him to safety.   This loving fellow loves to be outside and enjoying the sunshine and learning about toys.   He responds well to pets being walked with him and can be handled all over without any concerns whatsoever.    He's also good with cats.     Ryder will learn fast and quickly adapted to walking on leash.  We adore this kind hearted fellow and know his future family will love him as much as we do.   show less

Although Sammie came to Godbey Creek with a tough start, but has rebounded and now a healthy and happy boy!    He loves nothing more than to spend time with his human, ride in the car, snuggle and hang out.   As long as he’s with his human or one of his beloved canine companions, he is thrilled.    When he meets “Nessie”, his playmate, his entire face and demeanor lights up!  This handsome boy is estimated to be about 7 years old, weighs 55 lbs. and is a shining example of rescue.   If you are looking for a low key, laid back fellow to spend time with, snuggle and take relaxing walks, Sammie may be just the pet for you.   show less

Sesi (Inuit for Snow) is a blue eyed, 6-year-old husky who was surrendered because of her prey drive for small animals on their farm.    Her owners have a farm full of livestock and, after several attempts over the years, they remain unable to cull her prey drive.   This lovely girl needs a home with lots of room to run (a fenced yard is a must) but without the temptation of small livestock and poultry. Sesi is fun loving, toy driven and gets along great with her canine companions.   She adores her humans and loves to sing (howl) when prompted; still, she is otherwise as quiet as a mouse.   While she initially comes off as the Alpha of the pack, she quickly settles in and accepts all other dogs. Whether indoors resting in her crate or enjoying her human companions, she loves being outdoors just as much running with her canine companions.   While Seis is okay with indoor cats, she will absolutely give chase if a cat runs outside.    Ms. Sesi hops in the car for a quick ride and is an amazing companion; she can play fetch for hours on end then come in for a nap on her doggy bed.   Ms Seis is trained to sit, lay, fetch and shake hands.   Sesi requires a fenced yard and will do best in a household with no small animals or outdoor cats.   Either an electric/Invisible fence OR a privacy fence is recommended.    Seis is up to date on all vaccines, spayed, is on monthly heartworm & flea and tick prevention and is microchipped.   show less

Adorable Skye is an energetic, beautiful two year old black and white border collie mix who learns quickly and loves nothing better than to please.    She uses her soft feet gently to give you high five, get a well-deserved hug or enjoy a belly rub.   A few of her favorite things are loads of exercise, plenty of hugs and petting, chasing toys and playing with her companion canines. This 36 lb girl bundle of very high energy either needs a job, someone extremely active and/or someone willing to spend time understanding how to keep this gorgeous, loving and strong headed girl challenged.    Skye is obedient, does well in her crate and sleeps quietly on her bed at night inside with five other dogs.    Skye would make an excellent herding dog OR agility girl but again, requires someone with experience.    She does get along with most dogs but occasionally dislikes a particular pet for no apparent reason.    In a home with another dog, she would do best if with a dog that had a lower energy level than she does.  She does NOT like cats and she prefers women.   Skye has developed good ground manners that need to be continued and reinforced.    With a strong prey drive, small pets like squirrels will be challenged should they find themselves in her space.   Ms. Skye does love nothing better than the healthy chase of any prey………..a cat, squirrel, bird, etc…………..  For this reason, Skye will need a fenced yard.  The successful adopter will have a job for Skye, a safe secure fenced in area and/or some experience with highly active border collies or herding breeds who need a job.   Although Ms. Skye loves her walks and thoroughly enjoys her human, it is nearly impossible for her to expend all her energy without hours of exercise.    Skye enjoys an indoor / outdoor lifestyle where she can learn, be challenged, get plenty of exercise and hang out with human and canine companions, etc.   show less
