Meet Ellie, a bag of sugar who has been at the shelter for two years. Ellie has been through a lot, including knee surgeries and the stress of living in a shelter for such a long time. As a result, she has become defensive against strangers since her arrival. However, we are working hard to help her overcome her fears and remind her that strangers can be fun. Because of this she has a special adoption process. Ellie is not a dog that will be terribly social right away, but she can learn to trust new people if given time and patience. She is learning a routine for how to meet people comfortably. Right now she requires a couple of meetings before fully earning her trust, but once she does, she is incredibly loyal and affectionate. She loves to snuggle up next to her favorite people and soak up all the love and attention she can get. In addition to being a snuggle bug, Ellie is also a fan of naps and tasty treats. She loves to curl up in a cozy spot and take a good nap, and will always be up for a snack or two. We predict she may hog the couch- make sure you have a large one. We understand that Ellie may require some extra time and patience, but we believe that the right family is out there for her.
