Adorable little Archie is in some trouble!  His current humans can no longer keep him and we need to find him a foster home asap.  The couple got Archie during COVID when he was a mere 5 weeks old.  Way too young to take from mommy, since the mommy dog sets a puppy’s boundaries between 8 and 12 weeks old.  They got him and were not able to socialize him with other dogs or other people.  Part of the COVID nightmare that a lot of people didn’t realize was a sad side effect of getting a puppy during that time.  Now when Archie is scared, he growls and snarls and has learned it will scare the people away.  He is scared and confused and having a hard time adjusting to real life.   He is only about 2 years old and needs training, socialization and a patient, gentle human to help guide him along.   He is very sensitive, so needs a kind person to help him.  He needs a quiet, non-chaotic home to decompress and learn the ropes.   Other dogs scare him, but a nice, non-dominant or non-aggressive dog would be ok.  No kiddos though!  He needs a dog savvy person to understand him and let him learn.  Archie is currently in Jamestown awaiting a new family.   show less

Meet Beans! She is the Queen Bee, Top Dog and King of the hill. She is a very special girl and a favorite with the volunteers. She has a forceful, loving personality and adores her people. She loves as much contact as possible, pets, cuddles, snuggles, you name it. She is also super active and will need a lot of excercise. A walk around the block isn't even a warm up for this girl. When she came to us she had been abused and took offense at your hands around her face. She is a million times better but no teasing her with your fingers/hands in her face. It brings back bad memories for her. This girl is only about 3 years old and a purebred English Cocker. She is drop dead georgous and leads wth her heart. Meet Bennie! Frannie Mae is an approximately 9 year old big girl! She is almost 40 pounds right now and could stand to lose a few pounds, so nice walks would be a bonus for her. Frisco is a happy puppy boy he loves to play give kisses and snuggle. He thinks he should rule your bed so he would do best to sleep in his own bed.   Meet Jimmy!  He is a 9 year old, 22 lb pure bred cocker spaniel This handsome boy is a total cupcake. Loving, silly, sweet he is looking for someone to be his bff. Joey is the sweetest, nub wagging little guy around!  He has totally come out of his shell and is a playful and happy guy.  He is on the smaller side, about 20 pounds and about 10 years old.  He loves belly rubs and is the best little guy. He likes females better than males, but will warm up to a male it just takes longer.  Unfortunately he does NOT  like cats and is not interested in sharing his life with another dog.  But he is interested in sharing it with you.   He does howl and bark at things outside, so he should stay away from apartments and condos.  His vision is not good, but he knows something is out there.  He would be a great watch dog!  Joey has a doggie door in his current home and he uses it to go potty outside.   Due to his reduced vision, he cannot live in a home with a pool or too many stairs.   All he wants is a nice quiet home with someone to pet him and love him.  Oh yeah, and feed him everyday and will happily accept treats.  He will repay you with more love than you can imagine.  He is currently in So. Little Jordan is about 4 years old now and quite the character.  He loves to run and play and chase toys, but he is not big on bringing it back to you.  It is much more fun for him to have you chase him around the yard.   Jordan is unsure of new people and takes a bit to warm up, but he will.  Once he is feeling safe, he will be your constant companion.  He does love to bark at boogie-men, so makes a great watch dog.  But that also mean he probably shouldn’t be in an apartment or condo. He has no clue that he is a little guy, thinks he is a big boy. He will snuggle up with you when you want and is always ready to play.    If you are looking for a sweet, kissie face boy who will protect you from all bad things, this is your boy!  He is housebroken as long as he can get outside when he needs to go.  So an open backdoor, or a doggie door without a flap will work great for him.  He will run and chase things, so no cats, pet rabbits, etc.  He is an adult only boy and is not big on sharing his person with any other dog, so will need to be an only child.  He is currently in Jamestown awaiting a new family to adopt or foster him.    show less

Meet Lulu! This is one party girl!  She loves a good time and is all about people.  She has the most amazing blue eyes and is probably deaf as many white dogs with blue eyes are.  This is one fun loving cuddly girl for a fun family!   Lulu weighs 14lb and is about 2-3 years old.  She is great with people and dogs. Sweet little Mabel has had a rough time after finding herself in the shelter.  We got her out and she broke with a severe upper respiratory infection a couple of days later.  We had to check her into the hospital for treatment, but she is a trooper and has recovered well.  She is a little girl, about 20 pounds, cute as can be, and about 12 years old.  She does great with other dogs, does not like cats, but thinks people are pretty good too.   She recently had a dental and a couple of little bumps removed and is a frisky girl.  She doesn’t hear very well and she has those darn cocker ears that require a bit more maintenance.    She would love nice neighborhood walks and lots of hanging out.  Mabel probably shouldn’t live in an apartment or condo as she has a high pitched bark.   She learns routine well and loves the freedom of a yard to check out.  Nub wagging, butt wiggling sweetie.           show less

Meet McDuff!  He is bit shy at first but once he is ready McDuff is a lover.  His personality is all terrier.  He begs for attention and pets.  He is smart as a whip and will train fast. He is a good guard dog and will let you know when you have visitors.  Once they come in they are just another person to give him loves. He loves hikes and adventures.  He is fine with kids 7yrs old and older, likes other dogs but NO CATS!   McDuff is a young adult currently in Jamestown ready for a foster of adopter. This adorable little bundle of energy and fun is only about 1-2 years old and still full of all his puppy playfulness!  He wants to play, play, play so will need an energetic, but not chaotic, home.  He does well with other dogs but we don’t know about cats.  He is sweet and lovie, and will give you all the kisses you want.  He is not ready to be a couch potato and will be a  perfect dog for a young couple or person who is active and works from home.  He gets bored easily and needs a big yard to be able to play in, as well as go on outings with his person.  Short walks will not work for this boy.  He is not a big barker, but he does like to chew, so have those chew toys ready.  He can leap like a gazelle and even springs straight up when he is excited, which is all the time!  He could use some basic training and needs to learn not to bolt out the front door when it is opened.    He is very food motivated, so training with treats should be easy.  He is very sensitive and responds well to positive reinforcement.  He definitely wants to please you.   Mickey is in Jamestown and ready for his new home. show less

Meet Moose! He is a purebred English Cocker Spaniel.  Playful and loving he does a great snuggle.  Moose is a favorite with the volunteers. He leads with his heart and is a sensitive, loving boy. Meet Noah! He is a sweet, tail wagging boy who wants lovies.  He is a big active guy doofy boy who loves to play. He prefers to be an only dog. Oliver is a true Rockstar!  He is very playful, happy, and just really all kinds of fun!  He knows his basic commands, but he still could use everyday training upkeep.  He loves treats and will work for them.  He also loves to be where the humans are.  He deserves to be in a home where he can run around and gets lots of love.  Oliver  is looking for a quiet country lifestyle in an ADULT ONLY home without CATS and No Other Dogs. The hustle and bustle of the city is too much for him.  Oliver will give you love as much as he receives from you if not more!  He is a pleaser!  He has been so much fun to hang out with and we hope you have as much fun with him. Remember when we welcomed Wilbur and Orville to our SCCR family a couple of weeks ago?  Well, they are ready for adoption so taking this opportunity to remind you about their story. Their human’s last name was actually Wright, but unfortunately he passed away and there was no family able to take them in.  They ended up in the shelter, scared and stressed  wondering why?  Wilbur is the older boy, about 9 years old and Orville is a youngster at 2 years old.  These boys were loved pets and being in the shelter put them into a tizzy.  The staff even separated them for a bit and Orville because visibly stressed and anxious.   The shelter asked us if we could take one or both and we didn’t hesitate to say we’ll take both.  They have been through enough emotional trauma and they need each other.  In a perfect world we would love to see them be adopted together.   We know they would also prefer that!  Even though Wilbur is the more mature boy and generally going to be a bit more chill than Orville, just remember Orville is a 2 year old youngster and will still be acting like a youngster.  These boys are fine with other dogs, and will be wonderful companions for the right person.  Wilbur and Orville are a bonded pair and cannot be adopted separately. show less

Pappy was a mess when we got him out of the shelter.  He was picked up as a stray in mid-November, blind and with one eye enlarged from uncontrolled, untreated glaucoma.  Oh the pain…….The shelter did remove his eye, and unfortunately he is blind in the other eye as well.  He has cocker ears and they are chronic.  Will need treatment long term.  Sadly, he is also deaf.  But he sure has a great sense of smell!  Pappy is not an active boy and probably doesn’t even want to go for a walk.  He is happy to relax in his golden years.  Shelter aged him at 10, so we’ll go with it.   Pappy rarely barks or makes any noise, he just eats, sleeps and cruises around.  He is fine with other dogs and since he is so low-key he probably wouldn’t even notice if there was a cat in the room.  His skin is back to where it should be, but he does not like having his head touched which is no doubt due to years and years of untreated ear infections.  In a perfect world, you have a nice fireplace with a dog bed right in front where Pappy can curl up this winter.         show less

If you want a cling-on dog, here's your girl.  Sweet Pepper is about 8 years old now.  she was originally adopted from the shelter at about 5 months, but then had a seizure and the owners surrendered her back to the shelter.  We did witness another one and after numerous tests to determine cause, we came up with nothing.  She is now on seizure medication and is doing great.  She loves all people and all dogs, unknown with cats.  When her coat is longer it is very curly  Unfortunately Pepper also has a little incontinence (but she is housebroken), it is only when she sleeps.  She is on medication for it and it is working great.  So yes...she takes two different medications everyday, but she is so worth it.  She will cocnstantly be by your side and you will soon wonder how you could have lived without her.  She does like to run around in the yard and doesn't like it when you are gone.  She is going to want a house with a yard, no apartment or condo please.  A nice lap to snuggle up to is a nust.  Pepper is in Southern California. show less

Ritchie is a sweet, good natured boy who loves his people. He loves snuggling and belly rubs. Not a fan of other dogs and definitely no cats! Older children (late teens and up) are ok, but no young ones as sometimes his patience runs out. He loves to run around the yard doing zoomies and after a particularly happy cuddle and belly rub time, he runs in circles! Ritchie biggest issue is he is not housebroken. He just doesn’t understand that outside is the place to go potty. He would need to wear a belly band while in a new home while you work on this issue. He currently has access to outside 24/7, yet he still goes inside sometimes. Ritchie is about 10 years old, neutered and just had a hernia repaired. He has good eyes and good ears for a cocker!  His adoption fee is $400. show less

  Meet Scully! He is a big boy with a full tail but make no mistake he is all muscle. We think he is a lab/cocker mix. He loves attention and tons of pets. He also loves to rough house and play with the younger dogs.
