Becks is a pale pooch with a lot of personality. She is one of the perkiest pups you'll ever meet. Becks is a 4-year-old pittie girl with dalmation-like spots on her ears (they're so cute!). Her ideal home would be an active one. She would love to be a running/jogging partner or a hiking companion. This happy girl is a play MACHINE! She loves toys, swimming and accompanying you wherever you may go. She is amazingly comfortable in the car. Having fun and being as active as can be is what Becks is all about. She also loves kids! Becks is just like any other female. She is a bit choosy and who can blame her? Lady's prerogative, right? This girl knows what she likes in a dog companion. She would prefer a submissive male companion. If you currently have a dog or dogs in your family, a meeting prior to adopting is a must. Becks is a very people friendly dog and she loves kids. When she finally takes a break from being her usual active self, she becomes a SUPER SNUGGLER. Lovin' on YOU and having you love on her is her second favorite thing. Becks is housebroken and crate-trained and does well with basic commands. She is smart and food motivated, so a good treat will nudge her to excel at any given command. Becks is a very unique package of canine character. Are YOU ready to take a run with Becks? You can apply to adopt Becks at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/. show less

Eda is a 65 pound Boxer/Shepherd mix with a beautiful red fawn coat, white feet and a splash of white on her chest. She is a happy girl and her nub wags at the slightest bit of attention. She loves to be with people and will follow you around the house. Eda loves to snuggle on the couch and will roll over for belly rubs. Eda is energetic, housebroken and does well walking with an Easy Walk Harness. She knows most basic commands (come, sit, lay down, give a paw). Overall, she is a medium energy dog who occasionally gets excited and runs puppy laps around the yard. In the house, Eda loves to play fetch with her toy duckie. Eda is crate trained and is respectful of her foster home when left alone in the house. She loves car rides and is a great traveler. During a ride you might find her napping on a lap or on the back seat. Eda is cautious with new people and they must be introduced slowly and carefully in order to gain her trust. Once she does trust you though, she will give you ALL of her love. She requires a home with older, considerate children where she can be the only pet in the house. She is not good with other dogs or cats. In a home where she is the only pet, she will love you, cuddle with you and shower you with kisses. Eda has waited so long to find just the right person, who can love her for all the things she is - someone for whom her limitations are of no concern. Could that person be YOU? You can apply to adopt Eda at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/. show less

Grayson is a 2-and-a-half-year-old Bully mix with a lush red/light brown & white coat. Spunky is a word often used to describe this girl's personality. She loves, loves, loves toys. She'll play with them for hours. Doggie kisses and hugs are Grayson's specialty. Her new family will need to continue to teach her to give them gently. Grayson enjoys getting out for a good walk. She is very strong and will need a family who will give her the guidance she needs to improve her leash manners. She is very treat motivated and incredibly smart. With proper, patient training, she will learn to follow your lead. An active family would be ideal for Grayson. She simply loves the outdoors. Grayson can be put off by other dogs. A home without other pets would be ideal for her. Still, this girl has come so far since she came to us and a home with another dog will be considered if proper introductions are done and time is taken to really find out if Grayson would enjoy the company of another dog. She would most likely do better with a dog with a laid back personality. She does best with adults. We think children just have too much energy for her. This lady has been waiting a long time and is ready for a family of her own. Will you give it up for Grayson? You can apply to adopt Grayson at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/. show less

Let me tell you a little story about a very special boy named James. James is believed to be about 10 years old and has lived the majority of that time outside on a chain without proper food, water, shelter, or love. Finally he was taken from that terrible situation to spend the next 7 months in a shelter waiting for rescue. Mostly Muttz stepped up and put James in a foster home where he could be treated for his heartworm disease. Since arriving to PA in Feb James has adjusted very nicely to life in a house with a family. It only took him a week to get housebroken and crate trained. He knows "sit" and is very food motivated. He loves to snuggle and roll around on couches and beds until he falls off. He's a goofy boy with lots of love to give. He's not very active because of his age but still has some energy in him for short bouts of play, either with another dog or a person. Although James is doing well he is not without some issues from his past that his foster family is working on with him. Being starved his whole life he is now very greedy with his food and needs to be fed away from other dogs. He's fine eating in his crate in the same room as his foster siblings. His foster mom has taught him to share the water bowl so hopefully one day other dogs will be able to eat around him without him wanting their food too. Even though he's come a long way with it since he first arrived, he is still learning boundaries with human food too. He is good with older, calmer children as he doesn't understand when people "rough house". James is good with other dogs but is better with females or smaller males. No cats for this guy though. In regards to James's medical needs, he does have an advanced degree of heartworm disease that is being treated. Due to his level of disease increasing the risk of complications that come with treatment, he is receiving a "slow kill" type of treatment that is less risky. This treatment is easy to administer on a monthly basis but can take upwards of 10 months to ensure all heartworms are eliminated from his system. James also does best with sensitive stomach food because other types of food caused diarrhea. His front teeth are worn down probably from trying to eat anything he could find while starving. This does not hinder his ability to eat or even chew on bones. Besides that he is healthy and once his heartworm disease is cured there is no reason to believe that he doesn't have many more years of life left in him. James is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. You can apply to adopt James at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/. Note: This animal is currently receiving heartworm treatment through a slow-kill method. show less

If you're looking for a great jogging partner, look no further! Pepsi, is a lovable 6-year-old Boxer mix who is all about the outdoorsy, active lifestyle. She loves exploring the woods and wading in rivers and streams. Some of our volunteers even call her Pep because she is always ready for some fun! Pepsi has a cute Boxer wiggle and will jump with excitement when it comes time for treats, walks or playtime! Pepsi needs deliberate introductions to people. She is cautious when first meeting anyone she doesn't already know. Her adoptive family should understand this about her. Once she trusts you, then she can be warm and loving. But she truly needs someone who has the patience to let her bond in her time. She would only do well in a home with older, respectful children. Pepsi would be most happy with people who are physically active often. Pepsi is not fond of female dogs or dogs with too much energy. She can get along with laid back, submissive male dogs, only. If she is given enough time to warm up to a male dog, her playful side should emerge. She should have a sturdily fenced yard. This girl loves to run, play and swim. Sometimes Pep does the crazy "zoomies" in the yard when she gets excited. It is quite a sight to see. Pepsi has really thrived since coming into foster care. She is very smart, learns quickly and does best when she has a routine. Pepsi is housebroken. She has a calm side, too. During her lower energy times she loves laying on the bed with her foster brother. She likes snuggling on the sofa with her people, as well. She likes chewing on bones, loves her antler toy and always has the pep to run around the yard with her foster brother. An active family who would take her hiking, jogging, camping, exploring, etc. would be ideal. Is the outdoor life the life for you? Why not take Pepsi along, too? You can apply to adopt Pepsi at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/. show less

Q is a very unique boy. He has had a terrible past of spending his life up to the time of his rescue of living in a crate in a basement. Could you imagjne never seeing the light of day or walking and feeling the earth under your feet. Q will love his person unconditionally but he needs time to know you are his person, can you give him that time ? Q-tip or just Q is a very sweet older boy. He weighs in at 30 - 35 pounds. We think he is a chihuahua mix. At 9 years old he led a very hard life of being locked in a cage in a basement living in his own filth. What his WV foster and his PA foster have learned is that he just wants to lay on your lap in a blanket and be loved. He will lay on the back of the couch and look out the window and wait for your return, so leave the blinds up a bit so he can see. He is great on a leash. While walking, fast cars or trucks might scare him, but that is getting less and less. He likes other dogs as long if they are laid back. If the dogs are energetic and in his face he will growl and retreat for safety. He has shown bouts of play, but when it gets to high energy he panics. Cats seem to be a sense of curiosity for him and he is overly curious. If they hiss or swat and hiss at them him may begin to ignore them. He is crate trained, he might whine for less than 5 minutes but will settle after that. He loves ALL people. He no longer has a nervous shake. Do you have room in your home and heart for this special boy? You can apply to adopt Q-Tip at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/. show less

Our sweet, happy go lucky people loving Rajah has made some changes. She has slimmed down to a mere 41 pounds. Which now means she can enjoy even more activities with her people. She also had surgery to remove her eye, which she was blind in already, but her drops were no longer doing their job, so it needed to be removed to stop the pain. Rajah came through her surgery with flying colors and now no longer has to worry about any meds. So Rajah is a new and improved model and all she needs now is her family to love with all of her might. Could you be her family? Rajah is a sweet fun loving girl. Don't let the fact that she is blind stop you in your tracks for loving her because it doesn't stop Rajah in the least. She loves life, enjoys her people and likes to play with her small group of dog friends. She can be dog selective, and seems to like submissive males the best. Rajah would love a family of her very own that she can shower with all the love she has inside for her people. Would you like to give Rajah a chance to show you just how much love she has to offer!!! Sweet Rajah lost her vision due to Glaucoma. She is a beagle mix who is good with other dogs, cats and kids. Her owner could no longer care for her, so Mostly Muttz Rescue stepped forward to help this precious girl. If you love specials needs pups as much as we do, apply today for this beautiful girl! This Handsome Hunk of a dog is 2-year-old Samson. Check out his gorgeous eyes. He is 65 pounds of people luvin' pittie boy. There are many reasons that Samson is a volunteer favorite in two states, not the least of which is his inclination toward giving warm doggie kisses. He is a MAJOR people lover who just wants to give affection all day! Samson walks superbly on a leash. He is great with kids and has a gentle overall demeanor. He is not high energy but rather blends with the energy level of his people. This guy is very responsive to commands and he is that rare dog who prefers praise over treats. Samson's start in life was not ideal. He was not shown the kind of love every dog deserves. Because of this Samson can only be placed in a home without other pets. He is perfectly fine when he is out on a walk and he encounters other animals and he can be in a yard and see them nearby without reacting. He is such a Special dog that we know there is someone out there who will want to be his one and only. There are some dogs that come along in rescue who everyone just pulls for totally, even despite any obstacles there might be to finding them the perfect home. Samson is one of those dogs. The way his life started will never matter again once he is in his furever home. Is your home "The One" for Samson? You can apply to adopt Samson at https://www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/. show less
