Becks is a pale pooch with a lot of personality. She is one of the perkiest pups you'll ever meet. Becks is a 4-year-old pittie girl with dalmation-like spots on her ears (they're so cute!). Her ideal home would be an active one. She would love to be a running/jogging partner or a hiking companion. This happy girl is a play MACHINE! She loves toys, swimming and accompanying you wherever you may go. She is amazingly comfortable in the car. Having fun and being as active as can be is what Becks is all about. She also loves kids! Becks is just like any other female. She is a bit choosy and who can blame her? Lady's prerogative, right? This girl knows what she likes in a dog companion. She would prefer a submissive male companion. If you currently have a dog or dogs in your family, a meeting prior to adopting is a must. Becks is a very people friendly dog and she loves kids. When she finally takes a break from being her usual active self, she becomes a SUPER SNUGGLER. Lovin' on YOU and having you love on her is her second favorite thing. Becks is housebroken and crate-trained and does well with basic commands. She is smart and food motivated, so a good treat will nudge her to excel at any given command. Becks is a very unique package of canine character. Are YOU ready to take a run with Becks? You can apply to adopt Becks at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/.  show less

Eda is a 65 pound Boxer/Shepherd mix with a beautiful red fawn coat, white feet and a splash of white on her chest. She is a happy girl and her nub wags at the slightest bit of attention. She loves to be with people and will follow you around the house. Eda loves to snuggle on the couch and will roll over for belly rubs. Eda is energetic, housebroken and does well walking with an Easy Walk Harness. She knows most basic commands (come, sit, lay down, give a paw). Overall, she is a medium energy dog who occasionally gets excited and runs puppy laps around the yard. In the house, Eda loves to play fetch with her toy duckie. Eda is crate trained and is respectful of her foster home when left alone in the house. She loves car rides and is a great traveler. During a ride you might find her napping on a lap or on the back seat.  Eda is cautious with new people and they must be introduced slowly and carefully in order to gain her trust. Once she does trust you though, she will give you ALL of her love. She requires a home with older, considerate children where she can be the only pet in the house. She is not good with other dogs or cats. In a home where she is the only pet, she will love you, cuddle with you and shower you with kisses.  Eda has waited so long to find just the right person, who can love her for all the things she is - someone for whom her limitations are of no concern. Could that person be YOU? You can apply to adopt Eda at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/.  show less

Grayson is a 3 year-old pitty mix with a lush reddish-brown and white coat. Spunky is a word often used to describe this girl's personality. She loves, loves, loves toys! She will play with them for hours. Doggie kisses and hugs are Grayson's specialty. She likes them so much, you might need to remind her to give them gently. This muscular and active dog is super eager to go on walks, so the Mostly Muttz volunteers are working with Grayson to help improve her leash manners. She is very treat motivated and incredibly smart. We have begun professional training for Grayson. With patient and continued training, she will learn to follow your lead. An active family would be ideal for Grayson because she simply loves the outdoors. Grayson can be selective about other dogs, so a home without other pets would be ideal for her. However, this beautiful girl has come so far since she first arrived at Mostly Muttz Rescue, a home with another dog will be considered if proper introductions are done and time is taken to really find out if Grayson would enjoy the company of the other dog. She would most likely do better with a dog with a laid back personality. Grayson does best with adults, and we think children might just have too much energy for her. This lady has been waiting a long time and is ready for a family of her own. Will you consider inviting Grayson into your home and heart? You can apply to adopt Grayson at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/.  show less

At Chesterfield County Animal Services in South Carolina, Kimbo is a long time favorite.  Here is what one volunteer had to say about him: "Good afternoon, Where do I even start… We have a very special case. Kimbo came to our shelter in Chesterfield SC years ago. Kimbo was taken from a home that had several dogs tied out and severely neglected. The owner passed away and all these animals were left with his wife and she could not care for them. He was NOT dog friendly and was heartworm positive when he came in, he is now hw neg. After this many years living at the shelter, everyone has fallen in love with him. The shelter staff treat him as if he was their own. He loves living at the shelter and is not broken by it. He is a happy sweet, smooshy face who loves to run and play tug-o-war and fetch and ADORES people and kids. However, we, the volunteers, have watched his face grey and his wiggly body age and we KNOW there has to be a better life for him. He has watched hundreds upon hundreds of dogs come in and leave but it is never his turn. After all of these years some volunteers did a brief dog test with him on leash and he did fine. He recently had the opportunity to go have a mini-vacation with one of our volunteers who has 3 other dogs. He has met all of them through the door and through his crate. The only time he growled or showed any improper behavior was when one of the volunteers dogs growled at him first and he growled back. No lunging etc. She has been taking him on walks with her female and he mostly ignores her. They have let her off leash and she has sniffed him and he didn’t care at all. They have walked past barking, howling coondogs that were running around a neighbor’s yard only contained by an invisible fence and while he was interested in the ruckus he was very easily redirected. While we do think he should live in his forever home as an only dog, he can easily be around other dogs on leash without any issues.  We really feel now that he has had a taste freedom he really really deserves a chance. With a knowledgeable owner we really believe that he will flourish and be able to live out his last days. We estimate him to be about 8+ years old so he definitely deserves a soft spot to lay his.  We are truly desperate to find this guy his forever home. While he doesn’t mind the shelter, as it is the only place he has ever known love, I know that he deserves so much more. We fear that one day his sweet little body will give out and he will pass away of old age on a cold concrete floor all alone. We understand that this is a huge undertaking for someone to take on, a black, senior pit bull that has spent more than half his life behind bars. BUT I just know he can do it, I know he can love someone with all his being and he deserves that chance, so I will beg and beg until someone sees what I see. Thank you." Mostly Muttz Rescue is hoping to make Kimbo's dream of a furever home come true.  While he currently resides in South Carolina, for an approved adopter willing to love him forever, Mostly Muttz Rescue can transport him and adopt him out through our rescue.  So, if you know what it is like to be passed over again and again, maybe Kimbo is the kindred spirit you've been looking for.  You can apply to adopt Kimbo at www.mostlymuttz.org. show less

Are you Obi's only hope? Obi is a beautiful 43-pound dog with magnificent markings and soft coat. This playful 2-year-old hound/shepherd mix is energetic but also loves to sleep in and snuggle next to you at night. He is a curious and active boy who appreciates the company of other dogs, is very friendly and warms up to people right away. This lad is house trained and crate trained but can be trusted outside the crate as well. He enjoys the outdoors, walks nicely on a leash, but is happy to peer out the window and play with his toys when he is in the house. Obi would do best in a home with older, considerate children. He loves his 11 year old foster brother and was interested but very gentle with his infant and 2 year old foster cousins that he recently had the opportunity to meet. Obi is smart, knows basic commands and loves to please. He is not very food motivated but appreciates praise. Obi loves affection and will lean in for neck rubs or belly rubs but is not a dog that needs constant attention. He seems to prefer his four legged foster siblings over anything else. This boy would do best in a home with other similar sized dogs. Do you have room in your heart and home for this quiet, yet active dog?  Just look at that handsome face!  You can apply to adopt Obi at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/.  show less

If you're looking for a great jogging partner, look no further! Pepsi, is a lovable 6-year-old Boxer mix who is all about the outdoorsy, active lifestyle. She loves exploring the woods and wading in rivers and streams. Some of our volunteers even call her Pep because she is always ready for some fun! Pepsi has a cute Boxer wiggle and will jump with excitement when it comes time for treats, walks or playtime! Pepsi needs deliberate introductions to people. She is cautious when first meeting anyone she doesn't already know. Her adoptive family should understand this about her. Once she trusts you, then she can be warm and loving. But she truly needs someone who has the patience to let her bond in her time. She would only do well in a home with older, respectful children. Pepsi would be most happy with people who are physically active often. Pepsi is not fond of female dogs or dogs with too much energy. She can get along with laid back, submissive male dogs, only. If she is given enough time to warm up to a male dog, her playful side should emerge. She should have a sturdily fenced yard. This girl loves to run, play and swim. Sometimes Pep does the crazy "zoomies" in the yard when she gets excited. It is quite a sight to see. Pepsi has really thrived since coming into foster care. She is very smart, learns quickly and does best when she has a routine. Pepsi is housebroken. She has a calm side, too. During her lower energy times she loves laying on the bed with her foster brother. She likes snuggling on the sofa with her people, as well. She likes chewing on bones, loves her antler toy and always has the pep to run around the yard with her foster brother. An active family who would take her hiking, jogging, camping, exploring, etc. would be ideal. Is the outdoor life the life for you? Why not take Pepsi along, too? You can apply to adopt Pepsi at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/. show less

I know you can't keep your eyes off how stunningly handsome I am. I know you want to bring me home and give me all your love...and your favorite chair! Wait, how rude of me, let me introduce myself...I'm Q*bert (think 80s kids cartoon) and I actually am pretty handsome.  When you meet me in person, don't let my big block head scare you because this blockhead is only for kissing!  I am actually a low key kind of dude. I like to romp around a little, play with a toy here and there, but mostly, I like to snuggle, on the sofa with you, on the chair with you, in bed with you...basically, anywhere you are I will snuggle. Even though I am a pretty big muscular guy, the ladies who walk me say I am extraordinarily well behaved on leash; not only do I not pull, but I look back every so often to check in with you and make sure we're going to the same way because, you know, I never want to be too far away from you! Not only do I walk well on a leash, but I am crate and house trained, too. I am polite and affectionate: Loving a good ear scratch and giving you smooches in return. I like children and other dogs, but please give me a little time while meeting a new dog - I warm up slowly. I know some people might be intimidated by a strapping fellow such as myself, but I promise, if you give me a chance, I will give you all my love and loyalty (and I will probably steal your favorite chair)!   You can apply to adopt Q*bert at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/.  NOTE: This dog has completed Heartworm treatment. show less

Q is a very unique boy. He has had a terrible past of spending his life up to the time of his rescue of living in a crate in a basement. Could you imagjne never seeing the light of day or walking and feeling the earth under your feet. Q will love his person unconditionally but he needs time to know you are his person, can you give him that time ? Q-tip or just Q is a very sweet older boy. He weighs in at 30 - 35 pounds. We think he is a chihuahua mix. At 9 years old he led a very hard life of being locked in a cage in a basement living in his own filth. What his WV foster and his PA foster have learned is that he just wants to lay on your lap in a blanket and be loved. He will lay on the back of the couch and look out the window and wait for your return, so leave the blinds up a bit so he can see. He is great on a leash. While walking, fast cars or trucks might scare him, but that is getting less and less. He likes other dogs as long if they are laid back. If the dogs are energetic and in his face he will growl and retreat for safety. He has shown bouts of play, but when it gets to high energy he panics. Cats seem to be a sense of curiosity for him and he is overly curious. If they hiss or swat and hiss at them him may begin to ignore them. He is crate trained, he might whine for less than 5 minutes but will settle after that. He loves ALL people. He no longer has a nervous shake. Do you have room in your home and heart for this special boy? You can apply to adopt Q-Tip at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/. show less

Our sweet, happy go lucky people loving Rajah has made some changes. She has slimmed down to a mere 41 pounds. Which now means she can enjoy even more activities with her people. She also had surgery to remove her eye, which she was blind in already, but her drops were no longer doing their job, so it needed to be removed to stop the pain. Rajah came through her surgery with flying colors and now no longer has to worry about any meds. So Rajah is a new and improved model and all she needs now is her family to love with all of her might. Could you be her family? Rajah is a sweet fun loving girl. Don't let the fact that she is blind stop you in your tracks for loving her because it doesn't stop Rajah in the least. She loves life, enjoys her people and likes to play with her small group of dog friends. She can be dog selective, and seems to like submissive males the best. Rajah would love a family of her very own that she can shower with all the love she has inside for her people. Would you like to give Rajah a chance to show you just how much love she has to offer!!! Sweet Rajah lost her vision due to Glaucoma. She is a beagle mix who is good with other dogs, and kids. Her owner could no longer care for her, so Mostly Muttz Rescue stepped forward to help this precious girl. If you love specials needs pups as much as we do, apply today for this beautiful girl! This Handsome Hunk of a dog is 2-year-old Samson. Check out his gorgeous eyes. He is 65 pounds of people luvin' pittie boy. There are many reasons that Samson is a volunteer favorite in two states, not the least of which is his inclination toward giving warm doggie kisses. He is a MAJOR people lover who just wants to give affection all day!  Samson walks superbly on a leash. He is great with kids and has a gentle overall demeanor. He is not high energy but rather blends with the energy level of his people. This guy is very responsive to commands and he is that rare dog who prefers praise over treats.  Samson's start in life was not ideal. He was not shown the kind of love every dog deserves. Because of this Samson can only be placed in a home without other pets. He is perfectly fine when he is out on a walk and he encounters other animals and he can be in a yard and see them nearby without reacting. He is such a Special dog that we know there is someone out there who will want to be his one and only. There are some dogs that come along in rescue who everyone just pulls for totally, even despite any obstacles there might be to finding them the perfect home. Samson is one of those dogs. The way his life started will never matter again once he is in his furever home. Is your home "The One" for Samson? You can apply to adopt Samson at https://www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/. show less
