Butterfly 🐾 Meet Butterfly, a delightful 2.5-year-old Newfoundland located on the eastern border of Missouri who so far is thriving in her foster home! With a friendly and outgoing nature, Butterfly adores people (you might call her a “Social Butterfly” 😌)and approaches everyone with enthusiasm, showcasing her excitement through playful little hops. She's well-mannered and refrains from jumping up on people, a testament to her good behavior. During walks, Butterfly has been showing some characteristic Newf stubbornness by stopping and guiding her foster's direction. While her foster is addressing this behavior, her forever family will need to be open to random strolls in directions they didn’t originally intend to go, and/or be happy to work on some nice leash walking with treats and encouragement. Butterfly's interactions with neighbors' dogs through the fence have been pleasantly neutral, and she will have some opportunities to let us know how she feels about other dogs when she’s ready. Butterfly's sleeping preferences are as endearing as her personality. Instead of a dog bed, she finds comfort sleeping on the floor right beneath her foster's bed. Remarkably, she has maintained her gentle and well-mannered demeanor indoors, refraining from destroying or chewing household items. There was a momentary incident involving an Apple Watch, but Butterfly demonstrated her obedience by promptly dropping it when asked. Good job Butterfly! So far, this sweet girl is not a fan of bath time but she loves to be brushed!  As Butterfly receives routine veterinary care for her wellness and spaying, her journey with her caring foster continues to unfold. Butterfly has had some preliminary vetting care and the vet discovered a heart murmur so she is awaiting her visit with a cardiologist to get an accurate diagnosis and treatment if needed. Her appointment is at the end of the month. Stay tuned to learn more about Butterfly's adventures and growth as we continue to learn more about her! 🐶🌟 show less

Ms. Dandelion came to NNR due to financial concerns. We are thrilled to be able to help this gal find a forever home. Dandelion recently turned 3. She is a delightful velcro girl. You will never be alone again with this angelic creature in your life. Dandelion's biggest requirement in life is people. She needs a person devoted to petting, loving and adoring her for as many hours of the day as possible. She wants to be near her people and soak up all of the attention. Dandelion is dog friendly and chicken safe. We think she could be successful in a home with dog savvy kitties but she is not currently living with cats. She is food motivated with the right treats and walks well on leash. We will consider families with age appropriate kiddos for this treasure. Dandelion is a mellow furkid who is happy to play a bit here and there but is mostly content to be at your feet. Or better yet, receiving belly rubs. No crates needed for this Princess. She is trustworthy in the home and house-trained. Dandelion can need some help and encouragement to get into a car but is a decent passenger. Dandelion doesn't counter surf or chew up furniture. She just wants to be with her people. If Dandelion knows your home but not available to her, she will whine to get your attention. She knows her place is with you. Dandelion alert barks but is not an excessive barker. Her best quality is her kiss giving. Be prepared for lots of love, drool and slobber with this furkid.   Dandelion's ideal home has someone home more often than not and wants a stage five (out of five) clinger to make their life complete.   Dandelion is currently located in PA. show less

Welcome to rescue Grasshopper! Here’s what we know so far: 🐶 Meet Grasshopper, the bouncy 10-month-old Newf boy! This big fella, lovingly known as "Hopper," has a big happy personality– you'll never be short on fun or giggles with him around. 🦘 🌾 Grasshopper is located in the heart of Indiana, but he's got his eyes set on a nationwide adventure. At 90 pounds (and growing!), he's a big, cuddly teddy bear who's ready to hop into your heart and home, you are only limited by the distance you’re willing to travel to bring your family member home. 🇺🇸 🌟 Now, here's the twist – this pup's talents go beyond just bouncing. Hopper has a secret superpower: he can channel his inner Wookie from Star Wars! Chewbacca would be proud of the hilarious sounds he makes. You'll have your very own intergalactic sidekick in no time. 🌌 🤓 But that's not all, folks! Hopper isn't just a fluffy ball of energy; he's a nerdy, silly guy with a heart of gold. Kabob is getting ready for adoption and accepting applications! 📍Location: Delaware 🐕‍🦺Breed: Newfoundland X Aussie 🌿Age: 9 months old  🏋️‍♂️Hobbies: cuddles and toys 🐱Cats: unknown 👧Kids: tested on kiddos ages 8+ 🐾Dogs: yes!  ⭐️Motto: Nothin’ what’s a motto with you? ✅crate trained: yes! ✨Leash manners: walks well and getting better every day! 💛Housebroken: yes!    Introducing Kabob, a resilient 9 month old puppy located in Delaware.  Kabob is a happy-go-lucky frisky and fun 70 pound puppy. His temperament is all the best parts of his Newfie ancestry with the most endearing little Aussie twist, mate! Just look at those cute little down-under ears! Kabob loves toys, especially tennis balls. 🎾  What else does he love? His canine foster brother for sure🐾, he loves his buddy and respectfully engages him for play with quirky play bows and awkward frolics.  Kabob is house-broken, crate trained and very responsive to praise and verbal commands from his humans. 👨‍🎓He’s engaged and loves to learn!  Considering Kabob's youthful exuberance, a fenced yard would provide the perfect space for him to frolic and explore to his heart's content. It's important to note that Kabob hasn't been formally tested with cats🐱, though he does exhibit some prey drive towards smaller animals like chickens🐓. Kabob's resilience is matched only by his affectionate nature. He adores people and is eager to be a part of their daily activities❤️. He's shown a strong affinity for chewable treats and toys, making playtime an absolute delight. Although Kabob's rough start might have affected others, he radiates nothing but joy and enthusiasm. ✨✨✨ An ideal home for Kabob would include a playful dog companion to share his energy with or a human who wants to be his play buddy. He would be happy with or without other dogs because his humans are his #1! He's great with children aged 8 and older, and his love for people extends to those of all ages. He is dog friendly and dog social.  He is very well mannered even at the vet! After his appointment with the orthopedic specialist his foster mama reported:  “He nicely listened to dogs barking. We practiced LOOK 👀and WAIT and COME SIT while we waited at the vet. He is so SMART and very responsive!” Why the appointment with the orthopedic specialist? Kabob's journey began in a rural area, where a compassionate individual rescued him from certain peril and brought him to the shelter. His survival story is nothing short of miraculous, as he overcame the challenges of having both hind legs broken at one point. Perhaps he was a pet who got lost and hit by a car, or maybe the streets were his home. The shelter attempted to find an owner but nobody claimed him. Due to the limited capacity of the shelter and the complexity of his injuries he was scheduled to be euthanized. A caring individual adopted him and reached out to National Newfoundland Rescue to find him a home. Kabob has completed 6 weeks of crate rest and received a number of tests and imaging. Fortunately, one of his legs has healed and is strong enough to support his weight! Kabob will have a chronic gait abnormality due to the disparity in limb length. (In other words, this silly boy has one leg that is shorter than the other) He is not in pain and requires no special care and is not limited in his abilities. He will need to continue joint supplement maintenance with his adopter. It is possible that this limp could worsen as he continues to grow. Any adopter will need to monitor him to see if the limp worsens or if the limb becomes a source of chronic pain because he may need an additional evaluation from an orthopedist as he grows.  If you're ready to welcome a bundle of joy into your life and provide him with the care, training, and affection he deserves, get your application in today or edit your application to reflect your interest in Kabob! show less
