Meet Isa! Isa is a beautiful 3  year old torti with colors of black, tan, and cream. She was named after Dora the Explorer's lizard, Isa and was surrendered by her owners last year when she became pregnant and they could no longer afford to keep her. She was the mom of kittens Paisley, Paris, Jet, Grady, and Grant. Isa has a very quirky personality. She always wants to be near you; she always wants to eat what you're eating; and always wants to be doing what you're doing. LOL. She is just.that.way. She needs to be in the middle of everything. She is a lovebug (though not a cuddler) and her personality lends itself to a loyal companion. She is very affectionate and loves attention, literally **racing** to meet you at the door and "talking" to you. She will follow you around the room, and when you go inside a room and close the door, if she can't quickly squeeze through the door, she will meow to you as if to say, "Hey! Are you coming out soon? I miss you," put her paws under the door and meow every now and then so you don't forget she is out there. (As if!!) She will definitely keep you laughing. Isa gets along with other cats, but will hiss to put them in their place, if needed. Isa's purrfect home is a quiet, low activity home with teenage children or no children at all, as at times (1x in over a year) she has been known to nip gently. Isa is spayed, up to date on rabies and distemper vaccines, tested negative for FIV, feline leukema, and heartworm, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. Please contact us to meet Isa at GoodMews22@aol.com.  show less

Meet Miss Clara! Miss Clara is a 1 year old, brown tabby kitten with big green eyes. She is very small and petite and is full of people purrsonality and loves to talk to you. She will try her darndest to tell you what is happening in her life with her little scratchy meow, "Owww." She's a real heartbreaker! She will follow you around and enjoys being with you, and at times, she will let you pet her. Clara is timid, but right on the brink of being pet - so close. Clara came to us when a nice couple called to explain that Clara had been living under their deck in the hot temps and flooding rains for 4 months. They had seen Clara picking up each of her young kittens to get them away from flooding and bringing them under the deck to safety. Clara was just a kitten and already had a litter... sadly, she lost lost both kittens to dogs. I knew I had to get her inside. Miss Clara requires a quiet, low activity home that is indoor only. No children or children over the age of 15-16 years old. She would be a great companion cat and will definitely flourish in a quiet home. She is spayed, up to date on rabies and distemper, and tested negative for feline leukemia. Call me if you are interested in this precious little talker. 540-825-3744 GoodMews22@aol.com **Special Needs listed only due to socialization skills.** You can read more about Violets at our website. Meet Mulan! Mulan was found living on the street in Culpeper when she and her 2 older kittens were forced out of their home when their owner moved without them. Sadly, Mulan was also pregnant again. Forgotten Felines took her in, rehomed her 2 older kittens and 4 new kittens. Mulan is a blue tabby cat, about two years old. She is now ready for her own home. Her perfect home would be somewhere quiet where she can relax in a window and watch the world go by. She loves the opportunity to sit next to you and have you pet her (long strokes from top of her head to tip of her tail is what she loves best). She gives little love nips if you stop before she's ready. :0) While Mulan is good with her 3 year old jr foster mom, she may prefer a home that has teens or no children at all. She tends to get a little flustered wit so many cats in her foster homeand would really prefer alone time with her humans. She gets along great with dogs, as long as they do not chase her. She's good with male cats, and an older female cat that is submissive. She is a little hesitant around men, until she knows they are safe and then she will seek out their attention. Mulan thinks she is human and, when her foster family is called to dinner, Mulan will show up as well, seated at the table, ready to eat.  Mulan's wish is that she is in her very own home for the holidays. She is completely vetted: dewormed, distemper and rabies vaccines, spayed, tested negative for feline leukemia, FIV, and heartworm, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. Meet Penelope! Penelope is a beautiful gray and white female cat, about 2 years old, who came to us on January 18, 2019. She was trapped on a golf course in southwestern VA and sadly, was taken to a high-kill shelter. She came with, who we believe to be her daughter, PuttPutt (still available). They both have spots and appear to be semi-bonded. Penelope was also pregnant at the time and subsequently had 3 beautiful kittens, all since adopted. Penelope is very sweet and from time to time will allow me to pet her, although she would prefer to gaze out the window and not be pet by humans. She will look right into your eyes , as though she wants to trust you, but isn't sure. She is perfect with furniture and in the litter box. In the right home (indoor only, older children, low activity, quiet home), she will no doubt blossom and gain trust with her human. She currently is in the cat playroom and gets along well with other cats.  Penelope is spayed, up to date on her rabies and distemper vaccines, tested negative for feline leukemia, FIV, and heartworm, and can be microchipped with a lifetime registration. This is a beautiful cat who just needs a patient person to care for her and love her. Won't you take a chance on her? Meet little Petunia! Petunia is a rarity - a FEMALE, petite, orange tabby, about 2 years old. (Most/90% of orange tabbies are male.) This sweet girl was plucked from the Walmart Garden Center (we believe she was probably born there) and had been living on the concrete, behind the boxes, in the summer's excessive heat and the winter's frigid cold for over a year. She was rescued just days before the huge blizzard last winter and has recently decided she rather likes living indoors and is beginning to trust people. She has come a long way in the past month, meeting me at the door, following me around, and even letting her nose touch my hand. She loves to sit on my make-up table, very close to me, and just watch ... and every now and then, she will slowly and carefully put her little paw out to touch me on the hand. We have a ways to go yet, but she is blossoming nicely. Petunia will need an indoor only, quiet, low activity home, with no children or older children over the age of 15 years where she can bloom. Please give me a call if you would like little Petunia to bloom in your garden. Email me at GoodMews22@aol.com or call 540-825-3744. **Special Needs listed only due to socialization skills.** You can read more about Violets at our website. Meet Potato! This beautiful, sweet, and large brown tabby was found lounging on patio furniture by the poolside every day at a Culpeper home. The kind lady (whose house he was lounging at) was making an outdoor shelter for him, to keep him warm in the brutal cold this winter, and she sent me a picture of the shelter. "Is that the cat that you're making the shelter for? The cat sitting on the chair, watching you make it?" "Yes," she replied, "that's him." "He's not feral." I told her, "Ferals wouldn't sit so close to you and watch you make the shelter, and ferals aren't out during the day." So we made a plan for her to catch him and bring him to me. Sure enough, this sweet boy, wasn't feral. He is a little skittish, but allowed me to pet him within a day. After Potato let himself out of the cat playroom, a few times, he was allowed run of the house. He gets along great with other cats, is somewhat independent (in the fact that he won't bother you much for attention), but loves a good scratch between the ears. This guy is a sweetheart. He needs a quick vet update, but can be ready to go to his new home somewhat soon. Oh...his name? Named for his favorite activity - Couch "Potato." GoodMews22@aol.com P.S. Yes, Potato came to us ear-tipped. A lot of times when a cat is lost or dumped (as we believe Potato was) they go to a colony to get food. When a rescue neuters a colony, all cats are trapped and ear-tipped - to let others know they are already spayed/neutered. If someone had taken the time to get to know Potato, they would've seen he was not feral, but just lost. :0) show less

Say hello to PuttPutt, trapped on a Virginia golf course, with what we believe to be her mom, Penelope. Both Penelope and PuttPutt came to us as a last ditch effort to avoid euthanization. They were deemed unfriendly, unsocialized, and unadoptable, and other rescues didn't want to pull them ( a rescue term, meaning to take them from the shelter). Enter Forgotten Felines of Culpeper dah dah DAAAAHHHHH! If you follow us at all, you know that being unsociable won't stop us. They deserve to live, too. Poor PuttPutt got VERY sick...and long story short....from receiving frequent medications several times a day, decided she couldn't resist my charms (LOL) and decided that people weren't so bad after all, especially since we saved her life TWICE. PuttPutt is now loving, happy, a regular purr machine, who comes to you for attention, talks to you, is easily able to be held and carried....and is TOTALLY adoptable now. She is about a year old, a Bengal/tabby mix with beautiful Bengal spotted markings. She gets along great with other cats and would do best in a quiet, low activity home with older kids. Her purr-sonality lends itself to being a loyal companion/support cat. She is just plain awesome. Making her debut....PuttPutt. (Applause.) PuttPutt is spayed, had 2 distemper vaccines, a rabies vaccine, tested negative for FIV, feline leukemia, and heartworm and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. show less

Meet Stripe Magee and you won't forget him! Stripe is a DSH male, black and white masked tuxedo, with a white stripe down his forehead, just over a year old. He was born in foster care on April 5th, 2018 when their mom, Valerie was transported to us from a high kill shelter.  Stripe is a loving, affectionate explorer, and investigator. He likes to think of himself as somewhat of a James Bond - danger and intrigue are his game and he is often getting into things he shouldn't - all in the name of exploring. He is a quirky little guy in that he doesn't seem to understand a cat's personal space. He will bound right up to a cat and be face to face, like "HHHHHELLO!!" You can often tell where he is just by the hissing. LOL He gets along great with other cats, though. Stripe is like the Energizer Bunny - always moving, always exploring. He is into everything and follows you everywhere.  Stripe's purrfect home would be an indoor only home with cat-friendly children over the age of 7 or 8 years old. He would love to have a cat playmate.or no children at all. He must be an indoor only cat. He is neutered, dewormed, had 2 distemper vaccines, a rabies vaccine, tested negative for FIV, feline leukemia, and heartworm, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. You can adopt Stripe Magee  by going to our website at ForgottenFelinesCulpeper.org, , filling out an application, and email it  to GoodMews22@aol.com. show less
