Meet Anastasia and Windsor! These siblings were found in May 2022 under a Good Samaritan's porch with their mom and 3 siblings. and took a little while to warm up to people, but now they love attention and cuddles. They're a year old now but they still have a lot of kitten energy. They'll need a home with people who understand that they'll need a little patience at first, but these bonded siblings are worth it. Meet Anika! Anika is a beautifully marked, petite little tabby cat, still the size of a kitten, about 1 year old who came to us with her family from the kill shelter awhile back. She is sweet and loving and loves to get scritches on her head, under her chin, and on her neck and will purr sweetly for you. Anika has had a bumpy start to life.  As a kitten, Anika got sick with a bad cold and one eye remained slightly closed, not allowing for the retina to develop and she is now blind in that one eye.  She was adopted and then returned when the other cat in the home was found to be picking on poor Anika. Unbeknownst to the adopter, the other housecat would hide and lie in wait for Anika just down the hall from the litter boxes. When Anika would walk down the hall to the boxes, she would suddenly find herself being attacked by the cat and therefore would not use the litter box. But it didn't end there..The adopter placed Anika on a psychiatric med for 2 months due to the issue that was NOT needed (she was taken off of it when the adopter realized what was really happening). Anika uses the litter box PERFECTLY once the issue was realized, but sadly, because the bully cat was in the home first, Anika was returned to us. Anika is very loving  and is a lovebug but is very shy until she gets to know you. She has been through a lot. Despite being bullied in her former home, she was very sad when she came back to us. She didn't understand why she no longer had a home and didn't eat for the first few days back in her foster home. Meet this gorgeous threesome - Tokyo, Bangkok, and Singapore! These three kittens came to us with 3 (Osaka, Shang Hai, and Siam) others from their home under a shed. The Good Samaritan was having some work done on the shed and they all ran out to greet the construction worker. Tokyo is mostly white and black, a male. He is a little rough-houser and loves to wrestle and play. He is a cuddly little guy and loves to be held and loved on. Bangkok has the most gorgeous colors. He is a Siamese mix with sparkling blue eyes and spots of gray on his little self. He has little black triangles in the corner creases of his ears and his tail is mostly gray, then a single stripe of black, then white then a black tip - very unusual. Bangkok is also a big wrestler. Little Singapore is a little girl - a Siamese Lilac Point mix with bright blue eyes, mostly light gray with darker areas of gray around her nose and tail. She just likes to play with her brothers, but is usually the one being pinned down in the wrestling match. They are all loving, playful, purring, and cuddly and all 3 are extremely bonded.  BFFs Fisher, Gar"Bonzo," & Watson - A Tale of 3 Friends​ Every week we get many requests for Fisher, an orange tabby that came to us with his 5 siblings last summer. Fisher and his family were dumped at the dump and ended up at a high kill shelter – a double whammy. Forgotten Felines pulled Fisher and his siblings and all were adopted, except Fisher. “So…if you are getting a lot of calls for Fisher, what’s the problem?” you ask. Well…​ Fisher has always been a bit of a loner and always sat apart from his siblings. He never wanted to play with them, he seemed to be a thinker type kinda guy, quiet. He never seemed to have any self esteem or real identity. Last summer we got in an entire family of orange cats that set up “house” in an office parking lot, right on the side of I-29 – remember? Gar”Bonzo” was the dad of that litter. Bonzo is a large orange tabby with white paws with an easy-going personality, though he didn’t come to us that way, he is TOTALLY a smooshie-guy now.​ Bonzo took an interest in Fisher and cleaned him, slept with him, and even played with toys with him. Keep in mind, Bonzo never even knew what a toy was…but he did this for Fisher. He seemed to know what Fisher needed and saw the emptiness in him…and filled it. Bonzo let Fisher know that he was okay and everything was okay. He mentored him in a way. This big ol’ cat from the streets took Fisher under his wing and became a big part of Fisher’s life. “Okay then, so adopt them together.” Last summer I received a call from the high kill shelter to pull some cats bc they would be euthanized. We took in the cats and when I asked if there were any more that needed out, the reply was, “We have one, but he will be put down bc he is feral.” I said I would take him. (Lots of times cats are not feral, just terrified from being in a big, loud, scary shelter, wondering what their fate will be.) I was told, “No, you don’t want him. He really is feral. We will put him down.” “No I want him.” I replied. Thinking, even a barn home is better than death.​ Watson came to us the following day, a day before he was slated for death. This big gray and white guy just stayed in his carrier in the crate and I barely saw him for the first month he was with us. He came out of his carrier at night to eat and that was about it. Sometimes when I would come into the room late at night, I would see him lounging on top of his carrier and he would quickly run inside again, escaping interaction with me. I never heard a growl or a hiss, ever. Hmmm…I thought, feral, huh?​ After Watson settled in, he was fully vetted and the door was opened on his crate. He could now come out and meet everyone he had been looking at for awhile, or stay in his crate if he chose. The decision was his. He came out and within a week or so, became best buds with Bonzo – after all, they had a lot in common. These are 2 guys that most would’ve given up on and dismissed as unfriendly cats, without taking the time to get to know them. Soon, Watson began cleaning and grooming little Fisher, too, eating with him, sleeping with him, and bonding with him.​ Now the world seemed to shine down on these three friends and all was happy and good, but they still need to complete their story. This is where you come in.​ These 3 friends are not traditional lap cats. Bonzo and Watson can be pet but do not like to be picked up – that’s okay. They often look out the French doors from the playroom and let me know when I am late to give them their canned food breakfast. They rub up against my legs when I come into the room. They can be pet and love affection. They are sweet cats who deserved to live. Meet Hickory, a handsome white and gray, short-haired 2 year old. He came to us with his mom, Constance and brother, Hunter on the Freedom Ride  year ago Thanksgiving from a high-kill shelter when their time had run out. Meet Woody & Jessie, two bonded siblings with a sad past. They were found dumped in an empty dumpster behind a Culpeper pest control company as 6-7 week old kittens. (Thank goodness it was empty or there would have been poisons in there!) There was no way for them to have climbed inside, they were too little. There was no reason for them to go inside - there was nothing in it that would be tasty - it was completely empty. No worries, They are safe. These two are adorable little white and brown tabbies, Woody is a bobtail, but not by birth - the vet believes there was some sort of blunt-force trauma a long before the dumpster.  He is  larger than sister, Jessie, and tends to want to wrestle and rough-house, more than she does. :0) Jessie is a quiet little girl, happy to sit on the sidelines and watch, but will get involved with Woody's highjinx if she must. They are both little lovebugs and enjoy being held and loved on, goodness knows, their past obviously did not have much cuddling and love. Meet Lucille! A beautiful brown tabbiy, and mom to Luke, Lilibet, Logan, and Lunella! She and her kittens were rescued from euthanasia at a high kill shelter. Meet Marla and bonded sister, Carla! These girls are just a year old and are beautiful gray tabby kittens who have had a rough start to life.They are bonded and MUST be adopted together. Adopt 1, get one free! Carla and Marla were found in early December living in a sewer on a busy Culpeper street with their mom, Darla Mae. These cuties are very playful and love, love, love to play with anything - their cat tree, laser pointers, even a piece of paper can provide hours of fun!! However, because of all have gone through, they are understandably very shy and currently only like to be pet when they are eating. That being said, they are only a year old, so once they are in a quiet home and grow to trust their new mommy and/or daddy, that will most likely change. Meet the Barbie crew - Barbie, Ken, Midge, and Skipper. These babies came to us from a lady who was overwhelmed with kittens when her mama-cat got out one night and came back pregnant. (Yes, she is getting mom fixed asap.) The kittens are currently about 9 - 12 weeks old (as of 10.8.23). This cfew loves to play - wrestling, romping, climbing, and rough-housing. Barbie and Midge are tabbicos - they have tabby stripes in places but have calico colors of soft creams, white, browns, and black. Ken is all black with white on his chin and paws and Skipper is all calico. Barbie and Ken are probably bonded as they are always playing together. They are cuddly and lovable, too and enjoy you holding them til they fall asleep in your arms. The Barbie crew is available now with an approved application. Meet Mocha! Mocha is a gorgeous, 1 1/2 year old, medium-hair, petite tabby/tabbico.  Mocha lived in a home with other cats and soon found herself in a cage, in a high-kill shelter, on death row. When we saw her last August, we immediately asked for Mocha and her friends to hitch a ride on the Freedom Ride and come into safety with our rescue.  All of Mocha's friends were vetted and found new homes. But Mocha was pregnant when she came to us. She was a fabulous and loving mom. She just finished her mommy stint and is excited to start a new, happy life with a family who loves her. We are hoping you are that family. Mocha is a lovebug who loves to be petted and will come to you for affection. She loves to rub up against you to say hello. She is curious and loves to explore, but will often sit back in a sunny window and just watch the world go by.  Mocha 's perfect home is a quiet, low activity home either by herself or with 1 or 2 friendly cats. Meet Otis (adopted), O'Malley, Oatmeal, Owen, Olivia, and Ouchie - cute little tabbies who came to us from a high kill shelter when they were slated for euthanasia. These babies are all playful and silly and love to cuddle. All kittens are listed under their name, unless adopted. Otis is a leader. He is silly, loving, and playful and the biggest of all the kittens. He is the brother of O’Malley and Ollie. O'Malley is a brown tabby with white around his eyes. He is active and playful and loves affection so much tat he will jump up onto your shoulder to be pet. He loves his siblings very much and likes to climb. Oatmeal is a male who also is playful and loving. He loves to cuddle with friends Owen and brother, Otis. He loves to run the zoomies and wrestle with Otis and Owen. Owen is the smallest of his siblings, Olivia and Ouchie. Owen is a brown and white tabby with a tiny tip on the end of his tail. He had a rough start when he came to us and was very thin and sick….UNTIL we realized that Olivia would not let him eat out of the food bowl. Olivia would literally put her paw on his head and push him away – every time. Once they were separated, Owen began to gain weight and did well. Owen and Olivia are very close but need to be watched to be sure Owen is eating. They love to cuddle, snuggle, and play together. Owen must be adopted with a friend. Olivia is identical to Owen and they are very chest and paws. Olivia is a little rascal. She loves to chase both of her brothers, wrestle, and zoomie around with them. Because she had to be separated from Owen, she is bonded to Ouchie. They are always together – and yes, she also tries to stop Ouchie from eating, as well. She is a little powerhouse. She is very sweet and likes to be pet and held – just a diva queen. Ouchie is a medium-haired Drama King. He got his name because he is always screaming when you pick him up as though you are hurting him. He is bonded to sister, Olivia and loves to zoomie and wrestle and climb. He is equally bonded to Owen. He is so sweet that he falls asleep in your hands when you pet his little head. No more drama, just nods off.
