Evander is a big beefy boy with a  beautiful fawn coat with white patches spread about. He is a very, very handsome boy who was initially listed as not dog friendly. His experienced foster mom recognized Evander was just painfully timid and scared, so she patiently introduced him to her pack, one by one, with close supervision and immediate correction. She helped Evander feel safe so he could learn how to make dog friends. He is still quite timid, but he is also able to play and snuggle as a member of a pack. Evander looks to his humans for safety and direction and needs a strong leader who understands he needs to lean on that rock. He is very sensitive and loud noises and harsh scolding send him scurrying. He is easily corrected and lights up with praise and pets. He has gained a sense of safety and belonging but this is just the tip of his journey to gaining confidence. He needs reassurance while he eats so his foster mom stands with her back to him while he fusses around for a bit to be sure there are no threats before he eats. Evander is house, crate and leash trained and except for the occasional squirrel does quite well. He lives with 11 and 17 year old kids who are old enough to know sudden movements and loud noises scare him, so he really is not suited to the animation, noise and unpredictability of young children. He could do well with a submissive female dog friend, but mostly he needs a human who sees what a terrific, warm, loving Boxer he is when he is safe and protected.   If you're interested in fostering, please fill out the Foster Application  http://austinboxerrescue.com/rehoming/adoption/foster/   If you're interested in adopting, please fill out the Adoption Application  http://austinboxerrescue.com/adoption-application/ Our volunteers will work with you to find the best dog for your home. show less

Frankie’s my name and making friends is my game! In truth, I’ve never met a person or pup I didn’t like. I look at life as one big opportunity for a meet-and-greet and I’d love to meet you! I’ve been with my foster family for a few weeks now and as much as I love them, I’d really, really love to find my forever family. I’m not a puppy anymore so that makes me harder to place but, on the other hand, I won’t chew your things or have an accident on your carpet!   I play well together with the other dogs in my foster home, especially the three-year-old Boxer. The vet thinks I’m about 11 years old but I can still keep up with that young ‘un! I adore riding in the car but I am not so crazy about my crate or cats. The crate is too lonely a place for an extrovert like me and cats, what can I say? If only they were more like dogs. Can I get an amen?   My foster mom says I’m a very clever boy. I move my bed around to a sunny spot or to be closer to her all by myself. Check out the photo of me with my bed. I like to fold it over to make me a pillow for my head! I also know how to sit and come on command. Smart, right? In other good news, I’m heartworm negative! If you have room in your heart and home for an older pup with plenty of pep left in his step, please fill out an application to add me to your family. show less

He is one handsome guy with classic Boxer clipped ears, docked tail and a beautiful dark brindle coat. He’s still young enough at 4 or so to be energetic, and old enough to know when it’s time to settle and entertain himself. His name is Galveston. He is heartworm positive but not symptomatic, and ABR always explains and helps with treatment. Galveston lives with a male Boxer near his age and an older female Boxer. He plays and plays with his male buddy and respects his female buddy likes to play just a little bit. He is a very good walker and does well on pack walks where he is eager to meet new people and dogs. He sleeps in his crate overnight with no fuss and no whining and he is house trained. Galveston does not live with cats or kids so we don’t know how he relates to them, but he loves his people and new ones too. It sounds like this handsome boy has not let his good looks go to his head so he is a well balanced, happy family member. And, Galveston is ready for his forever family.   If you're interested in fostering, please fill out the Foster Application  http://austinboxerrescue.com/rehoming/adoption/foster/   If you're interested in adopting, please fill out the Adoption Application  http://austinboxerrescue.com/adoption-application/ Our volunteers will work with you to find the best dog for your home. show less
