Bailey, Beautiful, Bouncy, Bailey...  a 5 yo large fawn female, approx 75 lbs, with a white chest and black face with a splotch of white on the nose, and white toes.  Bailey came to ABR with injuries similar to those of bait dogs, and spent several months healing.  During her time of having the wounds cleaned and packed, Bailey would lie there patiently and and never once was she aggressive.  In fact she would wait there until she was told "all done".  She would then get up, walk into the kitchen, and wait for her treat.      Bailey is a super sweet and very bouncy girl who has the perfect "wiggle butt" which shakes her entire body! It took Bailey a little while to figure out toys, but now she loves to play with all her stuffed friends, especially her favorite, a small pink pig [Peppa the pig], and she prefers small soft toys over balls or hard toys. Bailey is an angel in the house. She is house-trained and uses a doggy door and she has never chewed anything up nor messed in the house. She has not needed to be in a crate and does well in the house when left alone. She has been left  alone in the house for hours with no problems. She is also great when her humans come home - she never jumps up, but she does excitedly bounce all around!  Her foster family calls her Beautiful Bouncy Bailey because she bounces everywhere, especially when she is excited or playing.  Bailey will follow her humans all around the house and likes to be wherever they are. Her foster mom works from home and Bailey is a great companion - she will lay where she can see her human, all the while watching the deer, squirrels, and neighbors out the window. Bailey does get on the bed in the evening while her humans are watching TV, but when it’s bedtime, she is trained to go and lay on her bed for the night. However, if one of her humans is gone, she will take advantage and "sneak up" to sleep on the bed (she wants to make sure her human isn't lonely!)  Bailey has made great progress when meeting new people. She does best when people have treats and approach her very slowly.  Once she has been given time to warm up to people, she is very loving.  She absolutely loves to go on walks and starts bouncing when she sees her humans pull out their tennis shoes!  Bailey is NOT kid- or cat-friendly, but she may do well with other dogs with slow intros. She is an alpha, so calm, well-mannered males would be best. Because of past trauma, she will need to wear a harness, not a collar. She is HW negative, and has been spayed. Barton is a 4 yo flashy fawn male with a mid-range energy level -- he is quiet and calm in his kennel, loves to snuggle on the couch, and sometimes runs around the house and yard, squeaking his toys and throwing them in the air. He really loves squeaky toys. He actually puts his toy back in the toy box when he's ready to trade for another one! He is learning house manners and people manners and is anxious to please. He is initially timid around new people and flinches if they move toward him too fast, but he warms up pretty quickly. He's been fine with the small and big dogs in our home, male and female. He's working his way up to actually playing with them. For now, he gives up his toys instead of playing tug-of-war and is content to co-exist. Barton is NOT cat friendly. He is crate-trained and housebroken, but needs leash work. He's good on leash right up until something catches his attention, and then he's a wild thing. He's also really strong and will yank your arm off if you're not paying attention. Because of previous trauma, he still has a deep infection in his front left leg that is being treated with antibiotics. His other wounds are healed, and his prognosis is good. He willl get another x-ray in a couple weeks to make sure he's on track. He has many scars - most of them will fade and not be visible in a few months, but some will be permanent. He was SUCH a trooper during his recovery.  He was patient and sweet during all the bandage changes and hydrotherapy that he had to do for several weeks, even when what he was going through was uncomfortable and painful. The painkillers he was taking helped, but he really was stoic and just sweet about the whole process. He is heartworm positive. Barton is being virtually fostered by Cindy McWhirter.  She sure hopes they can get this poor baby better!     If you're interested in fostering, please fill out the Foster Application      https://austinboxerrescue.com/ways-to-help/foster/      If you're interested in adopting, please fill out the Adoption Application     http://austinboxerrescue.com/adoption-application/     Our volunteers will work with you to find the best dog for your home. show less

7.17.2021 Bella is a 9-year-old fawn spayed female with white on her chest, chin, toes and a small white line down her nose. She has a bit of silver on her face, her ears are natural and her tail is docked. Bella has lived with her current owners since she was two years old, and needs a new home because her mom is leaving Texas to take care of an ailing family member and cannot take Bella with her. Bella is up to date on vaccinations, but is not on heartworm prevention. She is on no medication, but is reported to have symptoms of arthritis. Bella eats dry and wet dog food twice a day. Bella currently lives outside and will benefit greatly from a loving, secure home where she can relax out of the heat and cold. Bella’s current owners described her as a loyal sweetheart who is friendly, active, smart, protective, playful, affectionate and nervous. She has no behavioral issues, knows how to use a dog door, walk on a leash and sit. She is crate trained, but due to her living outside, not yet housetrained. She likes dogs and cats. She does not live with a child, but her current owner reports that she does well with children, and she has not shown aggression toward adults, children or animals.  Bella does not mind being left alone. She loves walks, squeaky toys and riding in the car. She is afraid of thunderstorms and will dig if left alone outside for long periods. Beautiful senior boxers like Bella are wonderful companions for any adopter. They are affectionate, still have goofy boxer personalities, and love to relax.      If you're interested in fostering, please fill out the Foster Application      https://austinboxerrescue.com/ways-to-help/foster/      If you're interested in adopting, please fill out the Adoption Application     http://austinboxerrescue.com/adoption-application/     Our volunteers will work with you to find the best dog for your home. show less

10.26.2021 Bodie is a handsome 8-year-old flashy fawn male with a full white collar, cropped ears and docked tail. He is searching for a forever home where he can be the only dog. Bodie is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations and veterinary care, and he receives monthly heartworm prevention. He has no medical problems other than seasonal allergies for which he takes Benadryl and eye drops.. Bodie’s current owners say he is a great dog and describe him as friendly, smart and quiet. Bodie is good with children (he regularly interacts with several young kids) and he loves all people. He is not interested in dog friends and has reportedly been aggressive towards some dogs. Bodie is house trained and crate trained. He eats dry dog food and does fine when left alone. He is not a barker and does not jump on people. Bodie loves to chase the squirrels in the yard, ride in the car and eat. Bodie would do best as an only dog with a loving family that has time to play and cuddle with him. Bubbles II is a gorgeous, tall, sealed brindle 4-5 month old female puppy with a white chest, all white toes, and the tiniest sliver of white down her nose. She has natural ears and a docked tail. She has a cleft lip/palate which gives her a permanent “grumpy” look. Bubbles is a puppy through and through. She loves to play and run in the backyard. Her favorite thing to do is to be on the couch with her people and be cuddled, cover people in kisses, and hoard her toys on her dog bed. Bubbles is a princess and refuses to sit or lay on hard floors like wood or tile. She will stand and whine or walk around until a bed or blanket is laid down for her! She is housebroken and crate-trained and goes straight into her crate at night or whenever she wants to take a nap. She is not destructive, but will help herself to an unattended sandwich if you’re not watching!  Bubbles is not yet leash-trained. Like any puppy, she is still learning, so she tends to jump on people right now, but she is a quick learner. She is highly treat-motivated, which is helpful in her training. Bubbles loves her foster’s resident cat. She is very curious about her and has attempted to play with her. The foster cat, however, is older and quickly corrected bubbles. Bubbles took the correction well and now leaves the cat alone (besides giving her occasional kisses!). Bubbles LOVES other dogs. Bubbles is in a foster home with 4 other dogs, male and female, big and small. She plays nicely with them, with no growling or noises while playing. She lets other dogs take toys from her and enjoys playing keep away with the other dogs as well. Bubbles does tend to get scared in new environments, and really likes her fur companions. She will do best in a home with another dog. She has not been tested with children. Dicey is a 6 year old medium-sized white female with black spots. She has a docked tail and natural ears. Dicey is a such a sweet girl! She enjoys being around her foster mom and foster fur brother. She gets along great with him! Dicey is relatively calm. She gets excited when her foster mom comes home and during meal times. She loves attention, affection, and snacks. She has a difficult time walking on a leash in the neighborhood (pulls/barks at dogs and cats), so she’ll need some practice with her new family. When she first came home, she exhibited separation anxiety, and did not want to go into the crate. Once she got comfortable, she settled down and now she no longer stays in the crate when her foster parent is gone. However, if left out too long, she might have an accident in the house. Otherwise, she is housebroken. She is heartworm negative and spayed. She has recently completed an 8 week training course and did the intermediate obedience test and did great!
