Pablo came to Paws Rescue League after animal control was called about a litter of dumped puppies by a road. There near the road and someones property were 5 starving puppies, a 6th puppy was found screaming in pain in a bush a few feet away. This little family of 6 siblings were discarded like trash on December 30th 2022. In the bitter cold, little 8 week old babies, who just stopped nursing, were deemed garbage by their owners. How awful calous, and heartless some people are, its sickening. Sadly this happens ALL the time in TN and other southern states where animal protection laws do nothing to protect innocent animals. We could go on about what is deemed acceptable in these areas when it comes to providing food, and shelter for pets but we'll save that for another day for now. Pablo, a beautiful, now 10.5 week old American staffy mix, with a gorgous tan coat, with white chest, and white socks!  He is a typical puppy, he is practicing housebreaking, and leash walking, and crate training. Pablo is still very much a very young pup, with his whole life ahead of him! He is good with all people, despite what his previous owner did to him and his siblings, he is good with all dogs, and cats. Pablo will grow to be a med- large sized dog. He would do well in most homes, who are willing to put the time and effort in to training a puppy. He would LOVE a back yard of his own, and some fur siblings to play with!    Pablo arrives in New England on 01/21/2023 and is looking for his FURever family! show less

Kaamos ( his name means "Polar Night", which in finnish refers to the days their is no sun in the arctic)  Kaamos was dumped at a kill shelter by his owners on December 8th, Owner surrendered dogs are give 24 hours to find a new adopter or a rescue. If an adopter or rescue arent found the dog will be destroyed (put to sleep, euthanized, killed).   Kaamos post was shared more than 780 times, to rescues and dog lovers.. Out of these 789 shares, no rescues wanted to take him in, many were full ( Like we are), Kaamos chances were very bleak. Despite being a healthy, sweet boy, who tested well with people and other dogs. People pleaded in the comments to "Save this boy!" "Don't let him die!" But no one offered to foster him, which is a guaranteed way to save a dogs life.  Finally, we were sent his post, and asked if we could help. He had NO ONE coming for him, we could not turn our backs on him in his hour of need, He deserved much much more than what his previous people delivered him to.  We have made a promise to Kaamos to find his PAWfect family who will love and care for him like he deserves! He is so grateful to be alive and he shows us every day, by his great manners and good nature, and affection. We have now had Kaamos for over a month in foster care, he has lived in a home with a loving family to get him ready for his FURever home!  Kaamos is about 55lbs, a neutered male Shepard/Husky mix. He is FULLY housebroken, and has not had an accident in the 5 weeks hes been in his TN foster home, he will alert you that he needs to go out by going to the door. He is FULLY crate trained and will go in his crate to sleep, eat or chew a toy or a bone. Kaamos is extremely dog friendly, and WONDERFUL with kids, hes been in a foster home since December 6th with 2 children 6 and 7 years old. He is great with them, very gentle, and sweet. He has not been cat tested.  He knows "Drop it", "Sit", "Off" and "Leave it",  and "Here" or "Come".  He is getting better and better with his recall training, hes not perfected it yet but he is doing well!   Kaamos is food motivated, which helps with training! Kaamos loves to play with toys, other dogs, or kids, or just running around the yard. He likes to go for walks, but he can pull a little bit when he sees a doggo friend.  He is great in the car and will jump in on his own happily to go for a ride,  He loves people, and takes treats gentley from hands, and he is not a barker, He does bark some when playing but most dogs do! Kaamos perfect home would be an average active family, who will take him for a couple walks a day, a hike would be lovel, here and there, a back yard to romp aroung in, and either doggo siblings, or human siblings or both!  He is going to make a family very very happy!  show less

Moose came to Paws Rescue League when animal control was called on an individual who had many dogs, who were not getting the care they needed, and were all living outside. Animal control asked the owner to surrender the dogs. 8 dogs were signed over, Hudson, Sheldon, and Moose are 3 of the 8 PRL agreeed to take in. Thankfully the Humane Society took in a few, and the remaining dogs were adopted!  Moose is a sweet boy, he is believed to be a golden/doodle mix. He is a very handsom boy! He is estimated to be about 2 years old, and weighs about 45lbs. He is friendly, good with other dogs, kids and people, has not been cat tested yet. Moose loves the water and the mud! He also loves to cuddle! Moose has been in foster with many other dogs, and has spent time at doggy day care while he was in foster in TN, He would love to finally had a family of his own who will let him live inside and be part of the family. Which is something his prior owner never gave him.    January 2023 Moose (Bailey) has been returned to the rescue. He is a very loveable dog. He walks well on a leash and is crate trained. He loooves to give love and kisses. He has been called Bailey by his previous owner and will respond to Bailey. Moose needs an adopter who is patient and is able to give him the training he needs. A confident owner with experience in anxiety in dogs is a preference- or an owner who is willing to provide the training he needs. He has some nervousness around cars outside and will also need to help with his potty training (due to the anxiety of things outside) as well as has some resource guarding with food. Moose is great with people as long as a proper introduction is done! A home with older children will be best for Moose until he learned to get over his fears. Moose is currently in a foster home with Paws Rescue League. We will continue updating his biography as we collect more information as well as see how he grows! If you are interested in giving Moose his FUREVER home and can be a patient and loving pawrent, please submit an application! He is excited to meet you and looking forward for a fresh new start.   show less

Thalia came to us, when the owner put our a plea for help with a momma dog, and 8 puppies, who they did not want. When we arrived to the scene, Thalia  (momma), was tied up with a chain and a padlock to a panel of fencing, on the outside of the yard, so. she was not protected inside a fence. The 8 puppies, some people had already came and took 2 of them. The reamining 6 puppies were free raoming, near a road, in the drive way, and some huddled up under some cars, wrapped up to try and keep warm. These puppies were saved just adter the bitter cold week, where temperatures in we the negative tens, -10 windchill.  These 8 puppies sleeping on a hard dirty gound, under cars for warmth and cover while momma was chained up with a pad lock. Both Thalia and the puppies were all very underweight. No food or water bowl were seen at the site the dogs were rescued from.   We took Thalia and the 6 puppies, placed them in foster home, where we worked on getting them all to healthy weights, and into the vet to make sure they are all healthy and recieve vet care.  Thalias foster family say she is such a sweet loving girl, with an easy temperament, She shows every day how grateful she is to be out of the awful life she was living before rescue. We beleive Thalia is a mix of German Shepard and Collie, people breed these two breeds to make " Mini German shepards" while theyre not a breed, sadily people cross breed dogs to try and make money off of back yard breeding.   Thalia is good with other dogs, great with kids and people, the foster mom has 4 grandchildren who visit daily and interact with Thalia and her babies. Thalis ia fully house broken, crate trained, walks well on leash. Her foster parents cant say enough wonderful things about her!  Thalia is spayed, and HW negative, and UTD on all her vaccines and vetting,  She arrives in New England on 01/21/2023 and is excited to meet her FURever family who will never chain her up to a fence outside again. show less

Tot is a male 11 week old small shepard/pug mix.  We were told by the owner of Thalia and puppies that a pug mix was the dad of the puppies.  We believe most of the 6 puppies will be small to medium in size. Mom Thalia is about 40lbs, and we expect the puppies to be under that weight when fully grown. This is an estimate based off mom, and dad, and the puppies current size ( this is not a gaurantee they will all be under 40lbs).   Thain is light brown brinde, with a small white stripe of fur on his head and an adorable smoosh face!  He is working on house breaking, and crate training. They are all young puppie and just now starting to discover what its like to be a dog, and not in survival mode.   Tot ( and siblings) would do well in most homes, as they are young puppies, who like small kids, take in everything you teach them. They will need adopters who have time to train and bond with a new puppy.  Tot will be arriving in New England on 01/21/2023 and is excited to start his new life with a loving family.  (Tot is pending adoption) show less

Rufio was dumped along with 9 other dogs, 8 small dogs and one large dog just days before Christmas. He was dumped by his owners late at night in negative degree weather. 4 of the dumped dogs were xolo mixes, for those that dont know a Xolo is a hairless dog, that does not much fur or hair to insulate them and keep them warm. 5 of the other dogs were Chihuhas. Paws Rescue League Inc, and anothr rescue stepped in right away to save these little dogs from freezing to death in the extreme cold chill that swept through TN, then made its way to New England around Christmas time.  Who can do that to 10 helpless dogs? Before the holidays? In arctic tempatures? We just will never understand what drives people to do awful things. We are thankful for the communties calls to us, so these precious lives could be saved. Rufio is a 2 year old male Xolo/Chi mix, he is super cute! And loves to be near his people, he does well with other dogs, good with kids and ok with cats. He is a precious litte guy. Note from Rufio's foster mom "Rufio is a chill and relaxed boy, he prefers to spend most of his time curled up on your lap or under his blanket (how ADORABLE), He has zero aggression of any kind. He shares well, doesnt know what a toy is. He can be nervous, and tuck his tail when meeting other dogs, but he likes to watch them, and you can see he is curious and interested. He is ok on leash with a harness, and he is crate trained and house broken. He occasionally will cry in the crate but a clap of the hands or a quick "no" or "quiet" he settles right down.  We believe Rufio is Trixies Dad, and dad of Momma Mias pups.  show less

She is about 10 months old, and weighs about 10lbs. She is a chihuhahua miix, and we beliebe Rufio is dad. Sassie may be part Xolo Sassie is a sweet gitl who just wants to be curled up on your lap, when we got her into rescue she was terrified ans shook for 2 days straight. Since being in fa oster home for 3 weeiks, she has opened up and showed how sweet she is. She would love a more laid bacik life style, she prefers to be with her peope , and is nervous at first when meeting new people, she is pad trained, and dog door trained, crate trained and understands a few words. Like many of the dogs we say Sassie does not know what a toy is, or how to play with a toy, Sadl she has never got to be a dog, That all changes now that she has started her rescue journey. She arrives in New England this weekened 01/14/2023 in CT.  Due to her shyness, and nerves we would love to place her right into an adoptive home instead of bouncing her arounf from foster to adopter in such a short time, show less

Crash and Flapjack, are two Rottweiler/hound  brothers who came from the same home. Their owner dumped them at a kill shelter. When an owner takes their dog into the shelter becasue they no longer want to care for, or have time for the dog, those dogs are euthanized (killed) first. Stray dogs are given 3-5 days for an owner to find them, or to be adopted/ or rescued. Crash and Flapjack were running out of time, no one was stepping up to takes these two sweet big boys in. We had our foster volunteer pick them both up for their FREEDOM ride out of the shelter! Crash and Flapjack have been in a foster home, with a few other dogs, and they are doing fantastic. Crash's foster mom has this to say about him:  "Hey there, Im Crash, or as my pawrents affectionately call me Bandicoot,. Im an older boy but still as spry as any youngin, I can be set in my ways, but also eager to learn new things.  Sometimes I like to talk, which the rescues ladies call me "old man grumble". In new environments it can take me a day or two to wam up, but i do warm up quickly, and once I warm up, I am a lap dog, albeit a big lap dog. ( My foster parents keep telling me Im not a lap dog, but how would they know? Theyre not even dogs! )  I love to snuggle up on the couch with my people, and get pets, and head and neck scratcies. I dont LOVE bathtime, but WHO really does? Am I right?!  Its not terrible, and once im in the tub I accept my fate, But i woudlnt consider it on my favorite things to do.  Walks on the other hand.. I live for those!  Fresh air, get to stretch my legs, and smell ALLLL the smells!  Sometimes I can get a littel excited and pull on the leash if I catch a good smell my way,  In my life before rescue I didnt get to meet many new friends, but since rescue I have met many new friends, and I am learning every day how to have better etiquite when meeting new people and dogs.  Some times I forget its not just me and my brother flapjack, and i can be a little bossy. I do best with lower energy dogs, I met a couple of human puppies ( The humans call the kids), ans they were loud, and i was worried someone was hurt, but after i decided the human puppies were ok, and no one was getting hurt, I dont mind them all the much.  I love all my people even the human puppies, and dont want to see any of them hurt, so i can be protective when i feel i need to be. I really want to make my people happy, and im eager to learn, giving my praise, love and some tasty treats I will do my best to learn eveything you want to teach me.    Crash is housebroken, crate trained, needs a treat to get him to go into the crate, he is ok on leash and gets better each day with more practice. He likes to play fetch. Crash would do best with a more laid back home, who can take him on short walks, or have a fenced yard he can go romp around and play in. He would do best in a home with submissive, low energy dogs, or no dogs. Has not been cat tested. Good with kids, but suggest kids who are 10 years and up, who understand how to give a dog space. Im full grown and wont get any bigger! I am hoping to find either my FURever home or a temporary foster home when I arrive in New England on 11/19! show less

Now that most of her babies have all gone to their FURever homes, its time for her to find her FURever family! You would be hard pressed to find a dog like Sage. Incredibly sweet, friendly with everyone, people, children, dogs, and cats. She is just wonderful! Very sweet, calm, and easy going temperament. She likes to be with her people, loves affection, and pets and cuddles. She is also very very smart. She is great on leash, she has great recall, and does like to stay right with you on walks. While in foster she learned, "Sit", "Paw", "Down", and "No" very quickly. She is very gentle, and sweet, she is always happy, and happy to greet people.  She is AMAZING in the crate, she seems to prefer plastic crates as opposed to wire kennels. She is FULLY house broken, and does great with letting you know she needs to go potty,   Anyone who spends even 5 minutes with this love bug will fall in love with her. She is soo good with kids, and dogs,  and just ignores the cats, She takes direction amazingly well. If shes smelling somewhere and you call her she will immediatly stop and come back to you, When shes done pottying and playing she will sit by the door and give barely audibale cries. She weighs about 16lbs, and wont get any larger. She is fully vetted, neutered and HW negatvie. We believe she is Twinkles mom, and Bingo is dead. Blue Belle is a happy girl and likes attention from her people. They are all doggy door trained, and crate trained. Good with other dogs, ok with older kids, and cats, she would do well in most homes. Blue Belle came to us along with Bingo and Twinkle just a few days before Christmas, when a good samaritan found them out in the freezing cold. The week of Christmas there was an unusual cold spell in TN and most of the USA, where wind chill temps were in the negative 10 degrees. The good samaritan spent 3 days trying to catch the 3 dogs, on the 3rd day he caught the last 2. He stated to us they were barely moving due to being so cold. We took them in and got them to the vet immediately to make sure they were all ok. These poor babies were not in the best shape when we got them in, their fur was matted and covered with fecal matter, they smelled terrible, and had some raw sores on their paws from standing in their own feces and urine.  show less

Jack Frost, Kris Kringle  and Noel came to Pawws Rescue League the week before Christmas. They were found as strays together, they were presumebly dumped by their owners in the cold. The week before Christmas TN had an extreme cold blast, where temps were below 0 and windchill temps were -10 degrees. This is unusual for TN weather. And sadly, we took in MANY dogs the week before and the week of Christmas. Families dumping their dogs to make room for newer dogs, peopole abandoning litters of puppies in the artic temps not caring if they survive or not.  Luckily these 3 were picked up by animal control, and we pulled them into rescue before they could be euthaized for shelter space ( again the amount of dogs being deserted, dumped and left for dead those 2 weeks was and is overwhelming for shelters and rescues,) Jack Frost is a 15 week old Boston Terrier mix ( we are not sure what else they are mixed with, our vet gave thier best educated guess as to thier bred. They all have adorable features of Bostons, and each have the cutest faces and underbites! He is a typial 4 month old puppy, curious about the world, friendly, playful and sweet. Jack is great with other dogs of all sizes, did ok when cat tested, great with children.
