Please Read Frankie’s Full Bio before Applying. Yes, he is super cute, but he is looking for a specific home. Frankie is a 1-year old male poodle and schnauzer mix, He is a low shedding dog and possibly a non-shedding dog, but due to not knowing his exact breeds (it is only a guess) we cannot guarantee he is hypoallergenic. Frankie found himself at one of the highest kill shelters in Southern California, where he was quickly labeled rescued only for growling at the staff. The staff was so afraid of him that they used a catch pole to move him from the kennel he was in into our crate. He was also severely matted. In less than 48 hours, he became a different dog. While he has become very sweet in his foster home, he is still looking for a certain family so that he can continue to grow and succeed. About Frankie: Knows commands “sit”, “wait”, “off”, “lay down” House trained Good with other animals Non-destructive in the house, but may get into things like trash cans and food items left out Does not bark too much, but does bark sometimes when getting to know new people and may bark when people come to the door. Velcro dog, he wants to be close to you at all times. His favorite thing is “YOU” (once he gets to know you) He is sensitive and does not like any rough play and at this time does not play with toys or other dogs. Warms up to woman faster than men, but will favorite the person who gives him the most attention Loves cheese and Ham On medication for anxiety (he will likely be able to be taken off this in the future) He can be snappy and growly with situations that he doesn’t like, but every time he has always given a warning and never went for a full bite. But he is to not be pushed into a situation where he could bite due to anxiety. He has never actually bitten anyone, but will show teeth and ask for space. He is a good mix of energy and snuggles. He is happy to go on walks, but also loves to stay home and snuggle What is he looking for: Prefers a home where someone is home most of the time. He has some separation anxiety, but is not destructive in the house. Does not like to be crated or put in a pen. His ideal day is to snuggle with someone all the time. Someone willing to continue to put boundaries in place so he doesn’t think he his in charge. A home with or without other animals, he doesn’t care for them either way, but coexists well. A home willing to give him time to adjust and understands that he is sensitive. He will get snappy if you are too rough with him or try to do too much too soon after meeting him. Once adjusted, he is a very sweet dog and very easy. A home willing to spend extra money on grooming. He needed to be sedated to be shaved down. Must understand that he may not ever be the most social dog with new people and taking him to public places may put him and others at risk if he becomes uncomfortable, he may snap. Requirements: No children under the age of 12 (no exceptions) Home or apartment- If you are in a home, the yard must be 100% secure and he cannot be left outside alone or he will escape. Him wanting to escape is just temporary and once he is adjusted in a new home, he no longer tries, but still should not be left outside alone. Other animals in the home are ok as long as they don’t pester him too much. Frankie is very good with other dogs, but prefers human companionship. He does not play or snuggle up with other dogs and prefers them to just leave him alone. He prefers to potty outside with privacy and doesn’t like other dogs in the yard at the same time 😊 Must be willing to give him time to adjust before picking him up or handling him too much Must be willing to let him come to you to engage Thank you for wanting to adopt from Hank's Legacy Foundation.
