Are you looking for a pup that enjoys the water for your Spring/Summer fun?  Patches says pick her!  Patches really enjoys the puppy pool so if you and your family like the water, she may really like hanging out with you at the lake, beach, pool etc. Bonus if she has a furry friend to play in the water with-how much FUN!  Patches loves the snow, too.  So if you are family that loves water and snow activities, think what a great addition Patches would be to your active family?  She has the biggest most infectious smile! Patches has been to doggie daycare, and she does well with all the other dogs and humans.  She has a lot of energy so other playful pups in her adoptive family will be awesome!  Check out some of her fun pictures at doggie day care!  On the flip side, Patches has some leash reactivity; just not her favorite way to be introduced to other pups.  Patches will need a home with 5ft+ fence because she has a lot of energy and wants to run around and play.  Patches could be an only pup or in a family with another sweet, playful and fun furry sibling(s). Patches lives with other dogs currently in her foster home. Patches is also a good companion in the car and well behaved. Wanna grab a coffe and a Pup-o-chino or ice cream, Patches is happy to join you!  This girl is a road trip fanatic!  She loves everyone she meets and vice versa. She is good with other dogs and children but may be too rambunctious for children under 10 years of age due to her size. She has that happy puppy personality and is still working on her manners but she’s improving every day.  She knows the words No, Sit and Stay and is crate trained. She is a sweet girl and loves to cuddle and be loved.  She loves food and is very food motivated which is helpful for training purposes. She is very smart and a fast learner. She will sit patiently while you prepare her meals. As part of Patches's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Patches, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org show less

Reece is a beautiful, brindle Plott Hound mix; he is so very handsome!  He is very friendly boy and gets along with other dogs, cats and kids!  He is so dog friendly, that he will need to be adopted into a family with other sweet pup(s) for him to play with and help him build his confidence.  He also loves to cuddle and sleep with his furry brothers/sisters.  He wouldn't be very happy as an only dog; he loves being with his foster fur siblings.   Reece's regular routine right now is waking up and having a yummy breakfast, followed up with playtime and walks. He likes to go outside every few hours and plays with his foster furry friends. Dinner is always delicious and he is ready to put on a few extra pounds.  At the end of the day, he sleeps in his foster parents bed or the chair in their room.   Some of Reece's awesome traits are; he is happy and playful; social with people including children and social with other dogs; he is gentle and has a sweet personality; he loves attention to inlcude pets and belly rubs and he prefers to be near you but neccisarily on you; he has found all kinds of toys to be a great thing and likes chewy ones, stuffed ones, squeaky ones all fun things! Reece could be a good dog for an apartment, condo or townhome. Even though he is a bigger boy; he just loves being with his people so does not require a fenced yard. His family would just need to get him out regularly throughout the day for walks, runs and playtime.  He is well behaved on a leash as well so another bonus for Reece. Reece is smart and food and treat motivate. He is easily redirected and wants to learn and be a good boy. He has a submissive personality which is very endearing.  He can be a little mischievious to include being a bit of a counter surfer.  He has the height, the nose and so his family will need to teach him what he can and cannot have through positive reinforcement training. Reece is a litle shy with strangers when he first meets them but quickly warms up with kindness and friendly rubs. Reece may even lean into you a bit to let you know he is comfortable, happy and secure. He is just a super sweet boy! He is currently crate training. He prefers to be out of his crate rather than inside of it.  This will be something his family will need to continue to work with him on.  He hasn't had too many car rides yet and did fine.  DOB 01/15/2021. As part of Reece's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Sam has cool black and white cow print and is a sweet boy looking for a loving, caring, patient and fun family. Sam Is such a sweet boy. He is shy with new people or strangers, but warms up as he gets to know them. He loves attention and pets. He can be a little greedy with the attention which his family is gently working with him on. Sam's ideal home would be one as an only dog or other female dog(s) in his forever home to play and burn energy and get lots of good exercise daily.  A yard with a 5ft tall fence would be best but not a deal breaker if his family is active and committed to several daily outings.  Sam is learning leash manners and is doing really well. He likes to be reassured on his walks with a little head pat and positive reinforcement to help him know he is doing good! Like any new puppy he will need to learn boundaries and commands through positive reinforcement training and consistency.  Sam is goes out several times a day not just to play but for potty breaks; he is house trained. He isn't a huge fan of going in his crate but once in settles in fine.  He is kind of the same way with cars.  All of these things are new to Sam so his foster family is being patient with him and helping him learn about his new world. He is doing better and better with sharing his toys. His foster mom makes sure to properly supervise him and redirect as needed. DOB 11/25/2021. He is gaining weight and is about 40lbs currently; Bulldog mix. As part of Sam's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Sam, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

(DOB 04/28/2022)  Due to Savannah's young age, she has not yet been spayed.  For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC).  This little girl is a special as the City is she is named after!  We will require another active, playful and energic dog in the home that can match this cute puppy's energy level.  Puppies thrive with other dogs as part of their socialization skills development during their early years.   After play time, this sweetie is going to need lots of love and snuggle time!  Make sure your heart and home are ready for little kisses and soft snores.  Don't you want to be her cuddle partner? A home where there is not large gaps of time where the puppy is left alone is important as well.  So a home where there is work from home, flexible work or school schedules or family members that stay at home are important.  This cutie will need several potty breaks and playtime throughout the day.  So someone committed to the time invest is very important.   No young children (less than ~8 years) since puppies at this age are teething and putting everything in their mouths which includes little ones toes, hands, fingers, etc.  The adoptive parents will need to be able to monitor proper child and pup interaction.   Puppies need structure, routines, and positive reinforcement training to learn boundaries and how to be a well mannered adult dog.  Teaching a puppy at an early age is easy when you start young and spend a little time each day "playing" with new commands or behaviors.  The new family will need to be prepared for spending the time and energy into teaching this young pup how to be a well rounded and well behaved little angel.  Introducing your new pup to all kinds of new experiences is import in the first year - take them in the car to new places, meet new people, and ensure you  work with leash walking.   You will need to be prepared for the puppy stages of house training, crate training, providing proper chewing items etc.  Puppies need you to help them be successful as they mature month over month.  They have lots to learn from their new parents and family.   Can't wait to meet this little bundle of fur - then fill out an application to adopt! As part of Savannah's $275 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Savannah, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

This cutie pie is a shy, gentle guy looking for a playful, interactive household with older kids. When you see him up close, you will see he has the cutest little underbite! Sawyer is crate trained but would really enjoy a home where there is a parent who is either retired or works from home.  He also enjoys going to doggie daycare and has a blast playing with the other dogs. He is a sensitive, submissive boy who may benefit from having another dog-friendly dog in the home to help his confidence.  He loves toys of any kind!  He enjoys running and playing in a fenced yard and hasn't had much experience with leash walks, but he could learn if you are willing to teach him.  He will bark at newcomers/guests to his home until introduced, and then he will bring them his favorite toy to make up for it and will seek affection and pets. He is also not too shy to give you lots of sweet kisses! He is very smart boy and knows SIT on command.  He is very treat motivated so his new family should continue with positive reinforcement training. He is house trained and will let you know when he needs to go!  He is also well behaved in the car so don't hesitate to take him with you. If you are headed to one of those dog-friendly stores, he likes going in and checking things out.   If Sawyer sounds like a good fit, please apply to be his family. DOB 01/15/2018. "I'm all ears; ready to hear you say, we're adopting him!!" "Scooby dooby do!"  Who didn't love Scooby cartoons as a kid?  And you are gonna love this Scooby, too!  He gets a long with other dogs and his kitty foster siblings, too.  Scooby really prefers being with his family members so a home that has someone home the majority of the time is a great fit for Scooby.  He would make a great "work from home partner."   He doesn't require a fenced yard because he is pretty much a couch potato and likes to curl up in any of the available doggie beds.  He likes to be near his peeps but won't be on top of you.  He wouldn't make a great apartment pup though because he often has "something to say" and his bark may not be enjoyed the people next door.  He will bark at new people. He could be an only dog or live with a family with other pets...he's flexible! The nice thing about adopting an older dog is you don't have to work on a lot of the things you do with young puppies.  Scooby is already house trained, he isn't tearing up or chewing on things and is overall pretty chill.  He still has a little playful side (check out his video) and has the happiest smile that will warm your heart.  He is sweet and gentle boy that has an endearing personality.  He likes his stuffy toys and plays with them; it really is adorable. He is still working on things like crate training and doing well. He likes sleeping on his doggie bed in the living room when his family is around.  He is working on loose leash walking and his new family can continue to be his positive lead and reinforcement.  He does not love being left alone and has some separation anxiety which we are working on. Scooby has great Hound ears and those expressive eyes that just melt your heart!  He also has cool markings that accentuate his brows. Plus he big and loveable! He loves the car and would like to road trip with you wherever you go (except for the vet).  Like many pups Scooby doesn't love going to the vet and giving him some meds to calm and relax him is a good idea. DOB 03/22/2014. He is a hunk of Hound mis weighing in at 61lbs!  As part of Scooby's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Terra is very kind and patient with small children and seems to enjoy them.  Don't have a fenced in yard?  Not a problem with Terra. She LOVES to spend time walking with her people. She is well behaved on a leash and doesn't really pull so she makes a very nice little strolling companion.  She isn't very big either so a nice smallish-medium size pup. She is quite a couch potato and would rather be inside than out. So if you have a pretty chill lifestyle and want a furry companion to sit with you while you read, work, watch TV etc, then give Terra a chance to win your heart!  She is a bit of snuggler but tends to be near you rather than on top of you. She LOVES her humooons attention and getting a daily belly rub! This sweet girl is already house trained and crate trained; she sleeps in her crate at night but we think she would love cuddling on the bed with her new family.  She goes out to potty about 3-4 times and day and will let you know with a whine or bark if she is ready to go - such a smart girl!  These are just some of the benefits of adopting an older dog. You can skip some of the crazy puppyhood experiences and training required. When traveling in the car she tends to move around from front to back and won't think twice about trying to help you drive, so crating her, using safety harness, etc. is your best bet. Terra is well mannered and does not attempt to take food that has not been given to her. However, once it is hers she doesn't want anyone else taking back treats or food that was giving to her. She seems to be calming some in her new foster environment and this is something we/her new family should continue to work on with Terra. She loves all kinds of toys so be sure to stock pile some for sweet Terra.  She doens't care if they are soft, squeaky, stuffed, crinkly...she just wants them all. Ummm...can you say toy hog?  Maybe just a little and this is why she needs to be an only dog...she does resource guard toys.  Her foster family is working with her, and her new person will need to understand this and can certainly work with her to appropriately redirect her behavior. Terra is looking for a single family home and not a an apartment, condo or townhome. She is a bit talkative and will use her outdoor voice inside so best if she is in a single family home. She does have a little bit of seperation anxiety which, too, can be worked on through positive reinforcement. Her foster mom works from home so a lifestyle similar may be best for Terra.  Like many pups thunder and fireworks are a little scary too safe spaces, and other distracting noises can help. Terra has not been cat tested; probably a home without cats is best.  Though an only dog home is what Terra is looking for, she is lovely to walk on a leash, and seems to walk well with other bigger dogs. So like many dogs, proper introductions in generic environments work best.  Terra is DOB 08/18/2018, 35lb female Dachshund mix. As part of Terra's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Thelma has the best puppy dog eyes, doesn't she?  A pup with personality PLUS!  She is very friendly, playful, gentle and is a sweetheart.  Goofy and sweet - isn't that a fun combo?  Thelma could be an only dog as long as her family spent lots of time playing and entertaining her, taking her to doggie day care, or having pup friends to hang out with.  Thelma shares her toys nicely with other pups as well. She's SUPER easy and low maintenance!  Her independent style does not require someone's full attention at all times.  She comes around a bit slowly to strangers but warms up well. Thelma is great with other dogs and is also great with her foster's son.  She loves getting those silly zoomies, and it is so cute!  She would love other pups in the house to play with and a large fenced yard to run and round and play.  She is a high energy dog that needs the ability to run and play to burn excess energy.  She loves to be outside as much as possible so a solid 6 ft fence is definitely needed.  She is smart and can be a good escape artist; we want her family to be aware she can be a flight risk if provided the opportunity to run.  So even though she is gentle and good with kids, toddlers or those too young to understand accidently leaving doors open would be unsafe for this speedy girl. This girl wants a home with lots of windows that she can look out at the world outside.  She likes watching the world go bye. She is already house trained and crate trained as well.  She is learning how to walk nicely on a leash and still needs patience and practice.  The hound in her brings out her curious and independent nature.  Part of this gets her in a little bit of trouble...like counter surfing if you aren't paying attention and positively enforcing the correct behavior. She is a 2-year-old, 37lb female Hound mix.  As part of Thelma's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Todd is all the things you love about a true HOUND!  Life will never be boring with Todd.  He knows how to make his own fun and is happy to share his exuberance for life with you. Todd is quite a character and you are life will never be dull with this fun boy! Todd would LOVE a large fenced in yard (solid 5ft or taller) since he loves to sprint back and forth outside. He is playful and would do well with a furry sibling but doesn't have to have one if he has a playful family member to keep him entertained and throw toys with him. He would also love attending doggie day camp daily if there isn't another doggo in the home; it is one of his favorite things to do. He shares his toys nicely as well.  Todd loves all kinds of activities; walking/running with family, playing with other dogs, playing with toys, going to doggie daycare, hiking and enjoying lots of sniffing around.  Todd has an enthusiam and zest for life that he can not contain.  He will likely surprise you with some hound antics that will certainly make you laugh! You won't be able to keep a smile off your face with this silly, fun, vivacious pup; no more dull days for certain. Todd is good with kids; however, he has not been cat test.  He is very social and loves EVERY body!  He is a great compainion you can take anywhere with you becuase he also loves car rides!  So grab him and take him wherever you go. Todd is learning about house training and doing well.  A family that is home partial or all day is best and will continue to take him out regularly to build on his routine.  Todd is not going to be a good fit for an apartment, condo or townhouse.  He likes to "talk a lot" and his voice would like be heard through the walls.  When excited you can find Todd doing a professional hound baying for everyone to hear!! Note: Todd is only available for adoption within a 1-hour driving radius from Wake Forest.  We will be treating his heartworm soon at our local vet. He is a 4 year old, 40lb Hound mix. (DOB 06/14/2022)  Due to Toulah's young age, she has not yet been spayed.  For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC). Toulah is a smart and happy little girl with a side of mischieviousness and a fun and feisty pesonality! Toulah will need a little furry playmate, preferably a younger and still playful puppy. She has lots of energy that needs to be directed into play. Toulah is also use to going on multiple walks per day that include, earlier & mid-morning, afternoon, after dinner, early evening and right before bed. This is a good routine for her and helps with both a good amount of exercise and potty training. She also loves to stop and sniff and investigate everything while she is out and about.  Her new family will need to continue her leash training. Her new family should be committed to a similar routine and not be bound to the house all day. She enjoys playing with a variety of toys so make sure to have a toy basket filled with lots of different ones.  They can be all squeaker toys, chew toys, stuffed toys, she loves them all. Toulah also enjoys a fun little game of tug-o-war. She spends part of her day hanging out with her foster while they work. As long as she has had the proper exercise, she will snooze some and play with her toys. She is a good little office assistance.  During office break time, a little belly rub is always a good idea. At her young age she is still learning all kinds of things and her family needs to be prepared to help her be successful. She sleeps in her crate, but is not crazy about being apart from everybody else. She will occasionally let her displeasure be known; however, she is pretty good with being in the crate. She is also still a bit nippy and mouthy, so again no very young children for this cutie. One of the most important things her new family will need to know and be both prepared or and work with little Toulah on is she is still a FLIGHT RISK. She is still learning about security, confidence and trust so she is skittish. Therefore, a family that will ensure doors, gates are always secure, she has proper martingale collar and leash on whenever out for a walk, etc.  She will run away if you approach her; however, will come to you if you are sitting down. So patience, understanding and lots of positive reinforcement training will help Toulah work through some of her nevervousness. Her home will also needs a yard to run and play in--has TONS of energy. It will need to be 4-5 ft tall and solid.  Because of this an apartment or condo would not work for little Toulah.  Toulah has not yet been cat tested. As part of Toulah's $275 adoption fee, she will bespayed, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Toulah, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

Tyson can't see that 50% of his adoption fee is being paid for by a kind sponsor but you can - only $125 to adopt sweet, special Typson! Are you one who roots for the underdog?  Then go no further than Tyson.  Tyson is partially blind and totally loveable!  Even if it makes him a little clumsy times, but it is a little bit endearing.  Regardless of his special quality, he can get around and play quite well.  His eye doctor thinks he can see shadows but not clear images.    Tyson has a gentle soul and likes to snuggle up next to you.  Couch potato, lounger, dog bed crasher are all attributes he displays proudly!  While he may be a little bit on the lazy side, he is a great companion and LOVES to be around his people and loves to get pets and scratches.  He is a little shy/timid around new people but warms up to them in a quick minute.      He likes to follow his foster mom around the house while she talks to him, so he knows where she’s going.  When his foster mom is busy, he loves hanging around with his gal pal dog.  She unwittingly serves as his eyes and leads him around the house and yard.  He loves all the furry friends that come and go in his foster mom's house.   He enjoys being outside. A yard with a fence would be best for Tyson as it's easier for him than going on daily walks.  He prefers a quiet home as he gets nervous when there’s a lot going on.  Little kids are too unpredictable, loud, busy for his comfort, but he’s good with older kids/teenagers.  He could be adopted as an only dog or into a family with furry siblings, but admittedly, having at least one other  low-key, friendly dog is probably best.  No male dogs for him—he is a ladies’ man all the way. Staying in touch with his hound-y side, he is not a fan of cats either.   DOB 09/30/2016; 62lb hound mix.  Even though he is a little older, he still loves soft toys, squeaky toys, stuffed toys and he shares them easily.  He, also, loves meal time...yum yum!   Going on car rides with his family is a favorite activity.      He isn't perfect but he sure is close!  We are still working on fully house training and he does love to SMELL tasty food and counter surf and grab a tasty treat if it is close to the edge. He does well in his crate but doesn’t need one as he isn’t a mischievous boy.  So a family ready to continue working on consistency, routine, and proper boundaries with positive reinforcement training will be great for Tyson.   As part of Tyson's 50% reduced $125 (standard $250) adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Tyson, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org show less

Velma is a happy girl and isn't too shy to share kisses with you. She can be a bit of a talker so be prepared for a little chatter box. She prefers to be near you but not necessarily on you. She loves attention and allowing you plenty of time to give her lots of pets and snuggles. She loves being with her person.  Velma doesn't just run up to strangers; she needs a little time to get to know them as she is a bit shy at first. She, also, is not a fan of dog parks so let's not take her there. When meeting new dogs, in general, she needs some time to get to know them before they are buddies. She has the cutest ears and typically one is out and one is down.  Her little face has the best expressions and you will quickly just fall in love with her! A home (no apartment or condo life) with a solid fenced in yard is what this girl is looking for; Velma is not yet leash trained and pulls when walking. This is something her foster family is begining to work with her on and her new family can definitely continue to work to reinforce with positive training.  She is already house and crate trained which is always a little bonus. Velma sleeps in her crate. She goes outside 4-5 days for potty breaks and a little fun. When outside, she wants her people to be outside with her. Velma does have a few "habits" and can be greedy with her food, treats and toys. She will resource guard these things, so her family will need to be aware of this and know how to properly work with her on these behaviours. Velma can live in a home with dog-savvy cats but sorry no children, just not their thing. Velma is good with submissive dogs and will need to be adopted into a family with other furry, friendly four-legged family members.
