(DOB 8/29/2019) What we know now; He is a gentle giant. Dog-friendly with dogs of all sizes. People-friendly, but may be too much for little kids. Super handsome, Otra, is an Akita mix and is the goofiest most well natured boy you’ll meet! He weighs around 95 pounds and is such a gorgeous fluffy boy.    Otra is great on leash, is crate trained, and is house trained. Otra lovessss other dogs, sometimes too much for their liking. He loves chasing his doggy friends' tails, which can sometimes annoy them. When he gets corrected, he gets so sad. He is essentially a 90lbs puppy. His ideal home would be one where he has a doggy friend to play with and preferably a fenced in yard.    Otra is a very loving boy. He is very playful and is mouthy during his playtime. He will give you his paw to trick you into putting your hand within reach so he can chew on it. It is adorable and not malicious in any way, but his future family must know about this and be okay with it!    Otra has a degenerative eye condition and will continue to lose his vision over time. Right now his vision is pretty good, but sudden movements do spook him, and he can be a little bit head shy. Due to his vision loss and mouthiness, Otra is looking for a home without small children.       As part of Otra’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Otra, you can fill in an online application by going to our website and clicking the" Adopt"  button on his profile at:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

Patches has sent a letter to Sandy-Paws telling him how much she wants her new family for Christmas!!  This sweetheart deserves her very own loving family!   Patches has the biggest, most infectious smile! Patches is a good companion in the car and well behaved. Wanna grab a coffee and a Pup-o-chino or ice cream, Patches is happy to join you!  This girl is a road trip fanatic!  She loves everyone she meets and vice versa. Patches is really a big velcro dog and loves to be right with you. She will definitely lean right into you for some rubs and snuggles.   Patches has been to doggie daycare, and she does well with all the other dogs and humans.  She has a lot of energy so other playful pups in her adoptive family will be awesome!  Patches will need a home with fence because she has a lot of energy and wants to run around and play.  Patches could be an only pup or in a family with another sweet, playful and fun furry sibling(s). Patches lives with other dogs currently in her foster home. During the summer she loves jumping in the baby pool to cool off.   She is good with other dogs and children but may be too rambunctious for children under 10 years of age due to her size. She has that happy puppy personality and is still working on her manners but she’s improving every day.  She knows the words No, Sit and Stay and is crate trained. She is a sweet girl and loves to cuddle and be loved.    She loves food and is very food motivated which is helpful for training purposes. She is very smart and a fast learner. She will sit patiently while you prepare her meals.   As part of Patches's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Patches, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org show less

River would like to gently, slow and smoothly trickle into your life like a gentle stream. She has the kindest eyes that will shine in the sun and melt your heart.    River loves soft, plush toys to play with and would love a family to spend time each day playing with her! She will share a big smile, a wiggly tail to show you how much fun she is having with you! River would do well in a home that has someone at home a good amount of the day; she'd make a good work from home partner.   River is docile and unassertive and has a shier personality. She loves her furry foster sisters and having another sweet and confident pup in her new home would be the ideal home life for sweet River. She loves her people but does take a little time to warm up; are you the kind of person that would give her a little bit of extra patience so you get the reward of being the love of her life! You won't be dissappointed in her loyalty and the amount of love she has to give!   River needs a home with a fence. She doesn't love walking on a leash and will need time, lots of positive praise and yummy rewards when loud noises and cars zip by so take your time and/or go on strolls in quieter places like a trail or the woods. So a good ole fenced in yard to hang out with her loveable family and furry siblings is what River is looking for.   Since River is still learning that her new life will be safe, she can be a flight risk so a family that understands doors need to be watched, monitoring if outside in a fenced area and always walking on leash with a martingale collar are needed for this darling girl to remain safe and secure. She just needs time and patience and you will absolutely fall head over heals for this specail, wonderful girl! Give this girl a chance and you won't be disappointed!   (DOB 7/23/2022) As part of River’s $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt River, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

Hi there; my name is Rocco. I must say my best trait is my personality! I enjoy playing in my fenced yard and really enjoy my play time with my dog brother. I can play with him all day! I enjoy being out in the sun, and I will search high and low for the sun spots. The sun just sparkles on my silky black coat! If not running around and playing in the yard, I also like to go for walks with my people, but don't be surprised if I just lay down in the middle of the grass and relax.   After a good amount of playtime, I enjoy my crate. I am very creative in my crate decor and do prefer the deconstructed look, ha ha. So if you give me a dog bed, I may take some liberty in how it fits into my style. I think they call it shabby chic or something along those lines. I must have been an interior decorator in a previous life. Once all fixed up just right, I sleep very well. In a nutshell, I am crate and housetrained for you already.   I do get very excited for food and treats! I'm really working on my manners, and I think I got the hang of most of them. I think "sit" means "lay" but other than that I'm good :). If you live in an apartment, condo or townhome, I could fit your lifestyle, too. All I need is a couple good walks each day and some playtime with my 2-legged or 4-legged family and friends (I could be in a home with or without other dogs). I just LOVE people and LOVE other dogs. I am still young and get so happy to see everyone!! You can tell by my big, huge smile! I'm learning cues from my pup friends and understanding boundaries from the other dogs. I'm a little smartie!   At my fun, young age I think I could say these are some of my cute charateristics; since I am learning a lot if I misstep, I'm easily redirected & very eager to please. I am a little bit submissive in the best kind of way and am a little shy with strangers but as soon as they show me love and affection, I know I have found another new bestie!! I still have plenty of curious, clumsy, and mischieviousness in my to make every day an adventure.   You know what I don't like - lawnmowers. Boy they are wierd and scary thing. Guess I might get use to them over time but for now, I'd rather go the other way if I hear one of those things wheeling towards me.    I love to be near my people. I'm a very happy, lovable bundle of energy and would love to be a part of your family! You won't meet a sweeter boy than me, I promise!!   As part of Rocco’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Rocco, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt tab on his profile our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

(DOB 4/21/2023). Roger is a fun loving boy who enjoys a good game of tug, long walks (and he's already doing well leash walking), or just hanging out with the kids in the living room chewing on a toy. He can easily entertain himself with different toys and bones to chew on; he will toss them around and chase after them. He's just adorable! He just loves being included.   Roger also loves playing with other dogs! So we are looking for a family with at least one playful furry sibling for Roger to play and hang out with. He loves his foster siblings; 2-legged and 4-legged! He also wants a fenced in yard to goof off and just be a playful puppy. Roger is very eager to meet new people and sometimes gets a bit excited and needs reminded of his manners and then he calms down.    Roger goes to the door when he needs out! Roger eats in his crate. He gets very excited at feeding time and sometimes barks at you and runs back and forth to his crate ready for chow time! He's all about getting your attention. At bedtime, Roger sleeps well in his crate.   He's a friendly pup with a happy personality. All he wants to do is share his infectious smile, big grin, and love for life with you! Any good day will be made great with Roger around. Have a bit of bad day, Roger will help you forget all about it!   Roger is also great with kids!!   As part of Roger’s $325 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Roger, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

(DOB 3/20/2023).  Do you prefer Sugar or Spice? This little Sugar has a little of both. She loves to play with her sister and bigger brothers. Even though she is the shyer of the two, she will still stand up to her bigger brother and let them know she's not taking anything from them. Sugar wants at least one other furry sibling in her fur-ever home. She loves other dogs and would be lonely; plus, other dogs are awesome teachers for young pups!   When she's done romping and playing in the backyard (which she loves to do), and ready for a little nap time she likes to snuggle up next to you or her sister on the couch. A home with a fenced yard would be perfect because she loves being outside. At her age, she also loves all kinds of toys and switching them up is a good way to keep her mind active and interested.   She can be a bit shy and will even les her sister eat all of the food. She loves to sit in your lap, but she seems to be more of one that rather sit beside you. Sugar would be a very sweet companion to sit on the sofa at the end of a busy day to watch some TV/read a book, and give her a little extra love and attention. She will likely fall asleep, and you will hear some cute, little puppy snores. Then when everyone is ready for bed, she will sleep in her crate with her sister. Or you may find her and her sister curled up in bed with their foster kitty; too cute!   Her new person will need to be prepared to spend time each and every day working on positive reinforcement training for loose leash walking, basic commands, and proper boundaries, so sweet Sugar will grow up into a well behaved and well balanced young adult! Puppies require time and attention so someone who is home a good part of the day is needed. She is still learning potty training so will need lots of outdoor breaks throughout the day.   As part of Sugar’s $325 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Sugar, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

(DOB 12/23/2022). Sullivan wants to be your Little Spoon! Sully is a goofy, wiggly, fun-loving, bed-hogging young pup. His favorite pastimes include snuggling with his people, having his butt scratched, destroying his toys, and playing with other dogs. He has a big, fat personality with lots of charming quirks to keep you entertained. He is very affectionate - when you snuggle with him, he will give you lots of kisses and will rub his head all over you. He has classic "puppy eyes" and knows exactly how to use them! One of his adorable quirks is snoring! Think "congested walrus driving a bulldozer, chasing a grizzly bear carrying a chainsaw, with a fighter jet passing overhead". Though Sully be but smaller, he is loud.  When Sullivan is awake, he is generally a quiet little guy, but he does occasionally bark or howl. So unless you dislike your neighbors, Sully would not make a good apartment dog. He is almost completely house-trained, but timing is everything with Sully.  So, getting him on a schedule and keeping to it should make things go smoothly. His signal to go out is VERY subtle. Training him to ring a bell to go out might help, but having a fenced yard would be best for him, especially if he has a doggie door where he can let himself out. If going for a potty walk, he does reasonably well on a leash, but does pull sometimes, and will still need some training. Sully is generally a very relaxed little guy, but he is still a puppy, and will get regular spurts of energy throughout the day and enjoys the play company of other dogs. Ideally, he'd do best in a home with a larger, confident dog to teach him the ropes. Sully loves to play with toys – any toy! Squeakers, plushies, chew toys – Sully loves to destroy them all, so he’ll need a big supply of fun chew toys. He will gleefully rip off a chunk and swallow it if you don't keep an eye on him, so supervised play is highly recommended. He is very food motivated and uses a slow feeder dish; otherwise he inhales his food and gives himself hiccups. He doesn't guard his food, dish, toys, etc. but will try to eat the food of the other household pets (or people), so everyone is separated at mealtimes He is crate trained, but he doesn't much care for the crate and gets upset if he is left in it for very long. He has done fine being allowed to roam free when his people are out, but has other dog friends to keep him company. However, his exuberance upon your return could power a small village for the day, so there's that. Sully gets a little nervous riding in the car, but generally does well. He will get into a car on his own, if given a little extra time to do things at his own pace. Once he settles in, he'll curl up on the seat and ride calmly. It's been a while since he's gotten car sick, but it is always a possibility.   As part of Sullivan’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Sullivan, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.   show less

Hi, I'm Toastie short for Toasted Marshmallow.  My perfect home would have people that enjoyed my kisses, give me the attention I so deserve, and love spending time with me.   My temperament is carefree and happy - just look at my curled tail held high. I've had fun at my foster house living with a sibling Aussie.  I love having a doggie foster sibling and am looking for one in my fur-ever home!  My foster mom also has two resuce cats and they are so silly and hiss at me to leave their space.  That doesn't bother me; I am just trying to win them over!  If they run, I do like to chase; not so sure if they like it but it sure is a bit of fun for me...ha ha!  If there are 2 legged-kiddos in the home, better be about 8 or so, I get a little excited and may accidently knock over a wee-one.   I love to run free in my fenced in yard with my Aussie sibling, and we find new adventures every day. I am definitely looking for a home with a 5ft fence and a good size yard to call my own and to play with my new furry sibling(s).  I, also, love to curl up in my doggie bed and take naps in the afternoon, worn out from all the fun I had outside. Those 2 things are great ways to spend a good part of my day.   My favorite thing besides my squeaky toys and stuffed animals, are getting doggie treats when my foster whistles to come in from outside - I run faster than the wind, so I can be first for my treat. I've learned so many new things in my foster home, like being crate trained - but you better secure the opening or I'm Houdini :-). I'm doing well with walking on a leash, getting used to a new harness my foster bought me. I went for a car ride the other day, and did really well, enjoyed my adventure.   I am looking for a home where my person/family is home a good amount of the day. A work from home situation would be ideal. I am not a fan, yet, of being left alone and prefer to be with my people and my furry sibling. I like sleeping near you as well so get ready for a few relaxing night time snores to help settle you in for a good nights sleep.   I'm looking for my forever home and hoping everything I told you made you feel like you can't wait to meet me!   (DOB 10/06/2020) As part of Toasted Marshmallow's $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Toasted Marshmallow, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt tab on her profile on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

(DOB 5/16/2023).  Get ready to meet the life of the party - it's our boy, Toffee! Nothing brings him more delight than a room full of toys and playtime! When it comes to humans, he absolutely craves their love and attention.   With his engaging personality, this charming pup is always ready for some fun. He's bursting with energy and is eager to embark on thrilling adventures with his new family. This playful spirit will keep you entertained for hours on end, as he's always up for games, tummy rubs, and endless play sessions. But here's the catch - this social butterfly will absolutely thrive in a home with another doggie friend who can help him continue his socialization journey.   Toffee is a social learner, feeding off the presence and guidance of his fellow canines. By having a furry companion by his side, he'll gain the skills and confidence needed to navigate the world around him. So, if you're ready to double the pet love and enjoy the heartwarming bond between two pups, this boy is the perfect addition to your pack.   He's an open book, yearning to please his people and learn new things. Training sessions will be a delightful experience with this intelligent and motivated buddy. Teaching him new tricks and manners will be a breeze, and he'll soak up the positive reinforcement like a sponge.   While he is still learning the ropes, it's important to note that he would do best with older kids. As he's growing and developing, his enthusiasm and exuberance may accidentally cause him to knock down a little one or unintentionally scratch them with his sharp teeth or nails. Therefore, a home with older children who can understand and handle his energy levels and are willing to participate in his training would be ideal.   As part of Toffee’s $325 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.   If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Toffee, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

Tyson can't see why he hasn't been adopted yet!! Even though he is partially blind; he loves playing, he gets around really well, and his "difference" makes him even that more special! Even if it makes him a little clumsy at times, it is very endearing. He still enjoys all normal activities liking going for walks with his furry siblings and romping and playing in the yard. RHis eye doctor thinks he can see shadows but not clear images.   BONUS: Tyson can't see that 50% of his adoption fee is being paid for by a kind sponsor but you can - only $125 to adopt sweet, special Typson! Are you one who roots for the underdog?    Tyson has a gentle soul and likes to snuggle up next to you.  Couch potato, lounger, dog bed crasher are all attributes he displays proudly!  While he may be a little bit on the lazy side, he is a great companion and LOVES to be around his people and loves to get pets and scratches.  He is a little shy/timid around new people but warms up to them in a quick minute.      He likes to follow his foster mom around the house while she talks to him, so he knows where she’s going.  When his foster mom is busy, he loves hanging around with his gal pal dog.  She unwittingly serves as his eyes and leads him around the house and yard.  He loves all the furry friends that come and go in his foster mom's house.   He enjoys being outside. A yard with a fence would be best for Tyson as it's easier for him than going on daily walks.  He prefers a quiet home as he gets nervous when there’s a lot going on.  Little kids are too unpredictable, loud, busy for his comfort, but he’s good with older kids/teenagers.  He could be adopted as an only dog or into a family with furry siblings, but admittedly, having at least one other  low-key, friendly dog is probably best.  No male dogs for him—he is a ladies’ man all the way. Staying in touch with his hound-y side, he is not a fan of cats either.   DOB 09/30/2016; 62lb hound mix.  Even though he is a little older, he still loves soft toys, squeaky toys, stuffed toys and he shares them easily.  He, also, loves meal time...yum yum!   Going on car rides with his family is a favorite activity.      As part of Tyson's 50% reduced $125 (standard $250) adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Tyson, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org show less
