Amelia has the best ears and such beautiful expressions on her gorgeous face!  Don't you agree?  She is medium size (~48 lbs) and would love a home where she is given a lot of opportunity to play and be a pup. She loves playing with her foster fur family and would do great with another playful pup. She loves snuggles and play time with her humans.   She loves going for walks, is curious, eager to please her family, very smart and treat motivated.  She is learning good leash manners but does pull if she sees something that excites her. We use positive reinforcement training with treats, and she is responding well. It is a great part of her wonderful daily routine.   She is also content being outside and soaking up all the sunshine.  A fenced yard is required for Amelia; she needs it to run, play and burn of energy.  Another dog isn't required for Ameilia; however, a fun, furry sibling to play with would be great fit for this young, playful, happy girl! Her new family will need to make sure they have the appropriate amount of time to spend with her burning off her happy excitment. She loves all kinds of toys, so stock up on a variety for her to play with. Probably not a perfect apartment pup as she will bark when she hears noises outside.   Not only is she dog friendly, she was tested at the shelter and was curious about cats. Her foster kitty sibling has not given Amelia the opportunity to interact. She will chase if they run, and she likely wants to play.  So a family with dog-savvy cats should be ok.  Amelia is also good with kids and lives with 2 little ones in her foster family (2 and 4 year olds).  She knows no stranger and loves everyone she meets.    Once she has burned off her energy, Amelia is really a bit of a couch potato, so someone to sit with her and watch, TV, read and relax would be wonderful. She loves spending time with her humans, too!!  Ameilia is doing both crate and house trained; no worries there :). She sleeps in her crate night.    Amelia isn't quite sure about the lawn mowers and they scare her a bit. She has really become a road trip fan and loves going on car rides, so don't hesitate to take her with you. DOB 09/27/2021. She is a female Bulldog mix. As part of Amelia's $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Amelia, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

Annie is a quiet girl that would like someone who will snuggler her, let her crawl up next to you and lay across your lap.  She has a gentle and sweet personality.  She would be fine with a not so super active person because she is fine chilling out and is a bit of a couch potato.   She is quiet and happy to just be with her person.  She would be fine in an apartment, condo and townhome as long as her very special person would take her out 4-5 times a day to go for a nice stroll and make sure she has the appropriate number of potty breaks.  She would likely prefer having someone home more than away, so someone who works from or goes to school remotely would be a good fit.   Annie’s ideal home would probably be her as the only pet. She’s a sweety and would do well as your main priority.  She is ok with some dogs but needs a slow introduction.  Older kids who are familar with dogs would be fine in Annie's new home but not young, rowdy young ones as she likes a quieter lifestyle.   Annie is learning what life is like with lots of new people, places, pups and new things to do.  She is still shy and needs someone who is patient, understanding, and who will go slow.  Talking about going places, Annie does enjoy car rides and would like to take rides with you, so she would love for you to pack her up and take her with you.   DOB 12/30/2020. She is a 53lb female Shepherd mix. As part of Annie's $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Annie, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

Aspen would be an awesome addition to your family! When you see her you will see she has the most beautiful brown eyes that sparkle in the sun against her gleaming, sleek black coat.  She has a big, bright smile guaranteed to brighten your day with two great ears that are most often found - one going up and one going out. What's not to love??   Aspen is very smart, gentle, and loving. She gets along with other young, playful dogs and would love another fun, furry sibling in her new home.  This girl is also good with kids. She plays with her foster sibling who is 3 year old dog off and on most of the day.  Aspen would like a little time being introduced to new dogs and get to know them.  She isn't a huge fan of doggie daycare or dog parks...she likes a smaller playtime environment.   She loves toys of all kinds and has no problem "stealing" them from another pup!  Make sure to have a variety on hand for her to play with! Aspen does not require another pup in the home as long as her family makes sure to give her lots of love, attention and spends a lot of time with her playing and burning off energy.   Give this girl a yard with a 5ft fall fence so she can run and play.  She loves the out-of-doors and has a fun time chasing any of those little creatures like rabbits, cats, squirrels or birds so if they find their way into the yard off she goes giving chase! She would much rather be in the yard then walking on a leash.  She hasn't tried to jump so a 5ft fence should be fine; she will dart at an open gate so keep those latches/doors secured at all times.    Aspen also loves the car so feel free to pack her up when you are on the go. She will be a great road trip companion. Plus she is good with strangers; just a little shy at first.  With some love and attention, her beautiful Aspen smile will greet everyone! She has the shiniest, black coat with the cutest ears that go this way and that. She has a lady swish, swag, just a little limp that makes her have the cutest little Aspen shuffle.     She isn't quite crate trained at this time; she sleeps in a spare room and does fine.  She is already potty/house trained so no need to worry about that.  She uses a doggie door at ther foster house and let's herself out when she has to go.  She loves doggie day care as well.    She is smart lady and already knows basic commands like SIT and DOWN.  She likes going for walks and is good on a leash.  She will just be an overall AWESOME addition to almost any family!  So what are you waiting for?  Aspen is just a perfect girl so wait no longer to fill out an application and get approved for adoption!    DOB 06/01/2019, Lab mix. As part of Aspen's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Aspen, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org show less

Baxter's cute underbite will make you smile! He has a great personality, and he can be describe as happy, energetic, and loves attention. He loves to be with his people and leans into you for a ear or neck rub! Isn't he what's missing in your family?    He hasn't had an opportunity to be around kitties so he has not been cat tested.  As far as kids go, he is good with older kids/teenagers due to size/energy/playfulness. Baxter is social with people & dogs.   Baxter is crate trained and house trained. Baxter sleeps all night in the crate and is quiet. Since he is still young, he goes out to potty every couple of hours to build his routine and ensure his success.  Someone who is gone for long periods of the day, would not be a great fit for Baxter and his age. He has a few road trips and seems to be fine and adjusting well to the world on wheels. In addition, he is doing well practicing on walking nicely on a leash! He is eager to please and is also easily redirected with positive reinforcement only training. He needs someone to spend time training him as he is still young and learning.   He enjoys to be outside on a sunny day. In addiiton, he LOVES to play in the water so a doggy pool would be an ideal activity for him and his family to play in the back yard! Baxter also loves chew toys to play with and he is sweet and shares toys easily.  He is also up for a good game of tug-o-war!   Little Baxter could be in a condo, apartment or townhown; he does not require a fence. He does; however, require a family that would then commit to lots of daily walks, playtime and activities to burn off his energy.  Remember he loves being outside, so a family that enjoys the outdoors is best suited for him. At his age, he is high energy, so no couch potato for this cutie!  Baxter would do well with a family that has time to walk him a few times a day. He wants to spend time with his humans in the house but tends to be a bit overexcited running around and not setting down if doesn't get the appropriate outside energy burnt off and giving him lots of time for exercise. He would love to join your fun family.    He's DOB 01/22/2022, 35lb male Pug mix. As part of Baxter's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. (DOB 10/28/2022).  Due to Blake's young age, he has not yet been neutered.  For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC).    If you are looking for a sweet, fun, energetic, confident pup, Blake is your boy! He wakes up every day ready to take on the world! He LOVES to play! He loves his toys and can entertain himself, but would much prefer to play with another pup! His goal in life is to eat, play, play, and play some more and then rest to get ready to play again! He’s very curious and loves to follow his people around to see what else he can learn about! He talks to let you know what’s on his mind and has quite the conversations. He will snuggle up and nap when he’s tired and it’s the sweetest thing ever! Put in your application NOW for a fun loving dude who will have you laughing every day with his silly antics!   Blake needs an active home with other dogs with similar energy levels, so he can play and burn his puppy energy. He loves to be around his people and dog friends and loves going to doggie daycare.  Blake is sweet and must have lots of varities in toys to play with! He also loves car rides and is happy to run errands or go for rides with you.   He is very curious about everything so needs constant supervision until he learns what he can and can’t do.  Blake is at that age where everything is still going in his mouth so proper monitoring and positive reinforcement training is going to be required by his new family.  Puppies need lots of consistency, routine and boundaries to learn and build good behaviors. Luckily, he’s very smart and treat motivated. We can't stress enough how important it is to provide daily training with your new puppy that include loose leash walking which he is already working on with his foster family.   Blake gets a lot of opportunities to go outside to go potty throughout.  He still uses pee pads some, and we are working on house training. Since he has lots of puppy energy, his foster mom makes sure to break up his play time and give him rest breaks. He wants to play every chance he gets. He is good in his crate; sleeps in his crate during the day and at night. Since he is still chewing and nipping, no young children.   As part of Blake’s $325 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. At the time of adoption, a $100 spay/neuter deposit and puppy spay/neuter agreement will also be required. The deposit will be returned once the puppy is altered.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Blake, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.  show less

Will you BE MY VALENTINE? I love other dogs my size or bigger that have a lot of fun, positive, energy so we can play throughout the day.  So if you have a 5ft fenced in yard and at least one other dog that would love a playful, new brother, let me know!  I will definitely want to have furry friends in my fur-ever home. I also love kids, just no little children due to my size and energy.  I'm eager to please for sure and want to learn!! I like to be with humans and other dogs.  So I really want a family who will have someone home most of the time. Or if you are on the go, that's fine to, I LOVE car rides, so pack me up and take me with you.  I am a great road trip companion.  I love everyone I meet and everyone thinks I am so adorable, so bring me with you, it'll be fun!  I am good on a leash too, but will pull if I see something exciting. Cats really fascinate me and so far, I haven't taken the hint from my foster kitties, that they don't really like me back.  Silly, kitties what's not to like?  So if you have cats make sure they are big dog savvy and can hold their own. I AM A CUDDLER and licker, so I am happy to share lots of love with you!  I will easily bring a smile to your face and "wash your worries" away with lots of kisses.  If you have room for me on your bed, I would love to lay with you at night, but I also don't mind just laying on my own bed in your room. Can I come check out your place? A family who will continue working with me and helping understand will be awesome.  I try really hard to be a very good boy. If you'd like to meet a ROCK STAR!? Well, hheeerrre's BOWIE!  Handsome, entertaining and full of energy! DOB 6/29/21. This sweet young, handsome boy is a great size and only about 35lbs. He gets along with everyone he meets. Once you meet him you will fall in love with his gentle playfulness and charming nature.  He is a super soft cuddle bug and can rest his head in your lap for hours on end if you pet him.  He is social fellow and doesn't know a stranger.  He is good with kids as well yet older ones would be best as he could accidently knock over young children.   Are you looking to get more exercise starting in 2023?  Bronco is still young and has playful energy. He does not require a fenced in yard but does require to be walked several times per day. He is very good on the leash, and a great companion if you walk or jog. He could be a pup that could live in an apartment or condo with the proper amount of outside time. He is also a fairly quiet guy, but we are currently working on his crate training due to his barking when left alone in the crate. He is a great walker and will occasionally pull if he sees a squirrel or rabbit.  With that said, if you have 6ft+ solid fence that he could run and play in; he'd love that to burn off his happy energy. Bronco would really like an active family, likely another dog to play with regularly, and a family that likes to snuggle, pet and love on him frequently.   He loves all kinds of toys and wants you to spend some time each day playing together.  He shares his toys nicely with others and just another way he demonstrates his gentle demeanor. He can be a little curious and clumbsy with his long legs and hound nose...it's very cute.    He loves playing with other dogs.  He does not require another dog in the home but it would be fun if he had a furry friend or got to hang out with other pups frequently.  He has foster dogs and likes them very much.  He has not been cat tested but our guess is he would chase them if they ran.  He may do ok with dog savvy cats but that is undetermined. He is also a good companion in the car and is pretty chill.   He isn’t super fond of the crate, but once in it he usually settles down pretty quickly.  Just give him some high value treats to help him get in and get settled.  He would just much rather be hanging out close to you. Like many hounds, he is curious by nature and likes to check everything out. Just keep an eye out or he may get into things he thinks are fun.   He will do a little counter surfing if you aren't keeping an eye on him..."his nose just gots to knows." We are working on our boundaries, and he is responding very quickly to the training.   DOB 11/10/2019, male Hound mix. As part of Bronco's $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Bronco, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

He has a beautiful coat and those eyes! Who can resist?  Casper the Friendly Dog, is ready for his forever home! He is looking to fill it with his love, happy energy, and companionship!   He’s a smart fellow, too, and learns quickly; he’s now fully and reliably house and crate-trained and now working on basic obedience and leash manners. He’s entering adolescence, with a will and mind of his own but is making wonderful progress with positive training, consistency, and patience.   Casper has a great, joyous spirit about him and loves, loves, loves to play – tug-of-war and any kind of ball – fetch and tether ball, too. He has good energy, although not “over-the-top” and some solid play and run time in the back yard with a long walk or chasing a laser light will get him ready to snuggle with you on the couch and watch TV before he retires to his crate. He sleeps in his crate all night very well but loves to sleep with his human, too, if he gets the chance. He goes into “baby mode” at night and just wants to snuggle and be held.   Casper is looking for a few things in a forever home to be safe and happy: an active owner with good dog experience who has the time and patience to spend training a young, strong dog (hound and/or terrier experience would be very useful); experience in training using positive techniques; a fenced yard where he can get his play on; to be the only dog would be ideal; and, while his foster parent is a mom, he really responds well to men, so it would be ideal to have a man in the home that would spend time with him and treat him well.   Though Casper wants to play with other large, female dogs, he isn't really good at understanding their signals about when to back off and stop playing. He isn't a fan of little dogs or male dogs and likes to keep his toys and things to himself...just a heads up.  Therefore, we are looking for him to be an only dog in the home. Casper seems to be much more human-focused anyway so not having another dog won't be a problem.   He has meet his fosters great-nieces (7 and 9) and did great with them; they are dog savvy kids. Plus he still nips so kids should always be monitored with this friendly ghost as he still plays a bit rough.  So it is probably best for Casper to be in a home with young adults/adults.    Casper has great hearing and will let you know if anyone is at the door. He makes a great watch dog.   DOB 01/07/2022, male Hound/Husky mix. Casper is adorable and weighing in at around 45 pounds. He will likely get a little bigger but not over 50-55 or so pounds based on his size now. As part of Casper's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Adopt a senior and get a sweetie!  Daisy is a gentle Beagle who has the capacity to make a HUGE difference in someone's life!  Daisy’s personality is best described as humble. She isn’t one to make a fuss unless she spots you giving a treat to another pet. Then she bursts into action, waiting for her own treat! Daisy’s rarely barks and is a very quiet dog.  Therefore she could be a good condo, apartment or townhome pup if they were on the first floor as she has difficulty navigating stairs.   Daisy is definitely a low-key kind of dog and needs someone with an easy going personality to match.   Although Daisy is crate trained, she does not need to use the crate at all; she prefers her large dog bed instead. She has never been interested in dog toys but occasionally will attempt to fetch a small ball. Daisy often enjoys having classical or relaxing music played and sometimes, you might find her “doing a little dance” if she’s really having a good day! She does have potty accidents but is working on that house training.    Daisy enjoys taking several walks (~20 min) a day and sometimes she is just as happy to go out to potty and come back in to nap. When on walks, she loves sniffing every spot and has been known to sniff out a grub worm or two! Daisy doesn’t mind other dogs, either but only minimally interacts with other canines. The days when her energy level is low, she is most content just napping or resting and enjoying her meals. Daisy is at the age where naps are often and awesome.    Daisy does not require a fenced yard; however, we think she would love having one to freely explore but she also is quite comfortable on a leash. If you do decide to walk her on leash, be aware she can be a bit stubborn about where she wants to go, as is a typical Beagle trait!    She enjoys all the attention you can give her!  So much so she even loves all kinds of grooming and pampering.  She really loves to be brushed often, bathed and having her nails trimmed. Daisy will also require regular ear cleaning. She never once has resisted any kind of personal care since being fostered; maybe she was a DIVA in a her younger years or previous life??    Her regular diet consists of dry kibble mixed with a little wet food and warm water. She will eat almost anything you give her but to keep her tummy happy, we have found sticking to the same food and treats is best!  She is definitely a hound; Daisy’s favorite time of day is feeding time! She gets fed twice daily with a few treats each day. Daisy weighs around 27 lbs now and is on a weight management dog food to help her lose a few pounds.   Daisy walks with a slight limp when but this has been evaluated several times with the Vet and nothing has been discovered that might be contributing to this. Once she’s up and moving it’s less notable, Like any of us aging, we get a little slower.  Daisy also needs a lot of patience with navigating stairs of any kind, so for that reason, a home that doesn’t have indoor steps to navigate, is required.   Daisy does need to be in a home where someone is available most of the day. This would not be a good fit for someone who works long hours or someone who doesn’t spend much time at home. If you work from home or are retired, Daisy may be the perfect fit for you!   DOB 07/29/2012. She is a 10 year old, 27lb Beagle mix. As part of Daisy's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Daisy, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

Would you like to meet this DASH-ing young gentleman?    His name fits his profile as he dashes all over the yard. If your looking for a "little guy ~31lbs" that gets along with other dogs, kids and cats, meet Dasher.  He is interested in the cats, but he hasn't chased them; he keeps his eye on them out of curiosity. He is a little shy with strangers but with a little love and affection he is quick to be friend!   He aims to please. He has the sweetest eyes that will melt your heart. Loves to snuggle up as close as he can get when going to bed. He really would like a person to sleep with, curl up on couch with or cuddle in a chair.  He loves being with his people.   He loves car rides, and big shocker, he loves being with his peeps so take him along with you when you are heading out.  He is young and still learning loose leash walking and leash manners but with continued positive reinforcement training, he will be a champ at that as well.   He loves to chew toys and tennis balls. This boy needs a yard with a fence so he can run and play.  He needs another playful pup and kids (would be great too) to run around the yard with.  A solid fence about 5ft tall is all he needs to burn energy.  If his family lives in an apartment or condo without a fence, it isn't required but his parents would be required to get him and his furry siblings out several times a day for run and romp. Once he has had play time, it's nap time.  He is already house trained and he is working on his crate training, too. He such a good boy   DOB 05/22/2022. Bulldog mix. Do you have a dog that needs another happy, playful, fun-loving and energic furry sister? She loves her pup friends at doggie daycare so a family with other playful and fun furry family members would be nice! Since she is on the shy side, another dog always gives her the boost of confidence she needs when she is out on walk. She is even playful on walks with her foster friends and it's just adorable to see. Cute head tilt and beautiful markings! Desiree is gorgeous and just absolutely stunning in person. She has the most gorgeous coloring and beautiful facial expressions. Her coat is silky soft, and she has velvty ears. She is a head turnner! She has a slight shy personality with brand new people, but she will quickly warm up to you and steals your heart.  A family that will have safety measures in place for doors, on walks, and in a fenced yard until she settles in and is safe would be great! A solid, sturdy 6ft fence is needed for Desi. She loves being outside and playing in the yard with other dogs and people.  She is currently working on leash manners, so a family wanting to work on positive reinforcement training is important.  She likes going on walks with her furry friends, so grab a partner and take two! She has learned SIT but not DOWN or the "infamous" word NO; however she is treat motivated so that is always a great way to train!  Also, within the fenced yard working on recall training with treats as well. She is very sweet and can definitely be a snuggler or lap dog and would like to cuddle with you on the sofa. She will lean in on you to give her some love and attention. She is crate trained . She finds her crate to be a comfort zone.  We are introducing her to car rides and she loved going for a ride for fun things like a pup cup treat.  We beleive she will be a good companion in the car. He walks on a leash like a pro and takes direction very well. Being crated is already a part of his routine which makes the process a breeze. Make sure to reward him with a treat every now and then 😉! He is the perfect addition to your family that you didn’t know was missing. Domino has typical puppy energy and loves to chase balls, play with toys and his stuffed bear. He will need a dog sibling or two that can match his energy in his life to help him corral his puppy energy and attitude.  Domino is cat friendly especially with dog-savvy cat(s), but he will likely learn quickly what a non-dog-savvy kittie(s) boundaries are since he is a quick learner. In addition, Domino’s new family will want to be ready for the time commitment of a puppy; he needs quality play time, teaching and training time, introducing him to new and different places and activities, so he can continue growing into a well adjusted, confident, and well mannered young adult. Domino loves to learn especially when treats are involved and making it a game with lots of love and positive reinforcement is fun for him! Like all puppies, Domino is teething and learning bite inhibition, so if their are children in the home, they should be no younger than 8 years of age.  Remember puppies put everything in their mouths which includes kids fingers and toes, so very young children are not a good fit for equally young puppies.  The family will need to show Domino what he can and should not be chewing on and redirect him to appropriate teething and chew toys. He does love all kinds of toys and swapping them out and giving him new or different ones are good for his budding puppy brain! This little guy has been good with new people and other dogs. He is a friendly, happy go lucky guy and ready to hang out with you wherever you are. He is good in the car and wants to be close to you so if you don't want him helping you drive, you probably should get a doggie car seat or travel crate. He loves attention and sweet petting and rubbing from anyone that wants to share some love. Domino is well on his way to potty training. His new family will just need to continue a regular routine with him and take him out to potty regularly. He loves going on walks with his family and is good on a leash. A fenced yard isn't a 100% required; however it would be preferred so he could play with his new furry siblings. If there is a fence it must be 5ft tall and solid. His thin frame allows him to get through slotted fencing. We would consider apartment/condo lifestyle as long as his family gets him out mutliple times a day to burn off energy. At night, he sleeps soundly in his crate and is a good little sleeper.  (DOB 02/28/2022)  As part of Domino's $275 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Domino, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

How cute is Gizmo?  You tell us from 1-10 -- an 11? Gizmo is a happy boy weighing at right under 25 lbs. He will put his front legs on you for attention. He is happy to jump up right into your lap. Gizmo loves to receive belly rubs and neck scratches.   Gizmo is good with other dogs and good with older kids/teenagers due to size/energy/playfulness.  Gizmo has a lot of happy, playful energy and will require a solid 4ft+ fence, since he is small and could squeeze through fences with spaces (sides or bottom).  He also loves the car so if you tend to be on the go, grab him up and take him along with you.    Gizmo could be an only dog or be in a family with other dogs with his similar energy level.  Though he could be an only dog, he would probably be happier with furry siblings that would play and romp with him. He seems to like bigger dogs bettter. If he is an only dog, the family needs to be active and ready to keep him occupied with the proper amount of play and walks to burn off his puppy energy.  He may be a smaller dog but he is not a dog for a person wanting a lazy, lap dog all day...that is not Gizmo!   Gizmo's foster family is working crate training.  Remember younger dogs need lots of routine and boundaries to build successes in what they learn. So his adoptive family would need to prepared to understand, be patient and continue working with Gizmo. Gizmo is house trained but as a young dog with lots of energy still needs to go out regularly to walk, run and play...in the yard and on walks to help burn off energy.   Gizmo loves all kinds of toys so be sure to have lots of variety on hand. If you don't keep him occupied with proper toys, bones and other things to chew on at his age something else might end up in his little mouth - say a sofa pillow or something like that.  So make sure you are monitoring and playing with him. He also will play tug of war with you or round or two of fetch. A variety of games and play are awesome.   In addition, Gizmo hasn't had a lot of previous experience with leash walking and that is something he foster mom is working on; he definitely pulls still.  His new family will want to work with him on loosh leash manners and take him for several walks a day to practice often until he learns consistency.   Gizmo has not been officially cat or kid tested.  Based on his personality, responsible older kids should be fine.  He loves everyone he meets and doesn't know a stranger so he gets very excited. Because of this, a family with older children will be okay, but Gizmo’s excitement may knock over a smaller child.   DOB 01/04/2022. Male Jack Russell Terrier mix. As part of Gizmo's $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Get lost in the sweet, brown eyes of Ms. Gypsy Rose! Gypsy sometimes has spurts of energy but she can also be the perfect couch potato to cuddle and watch movies with you! She is so much fun to be around. She loves being outside, running, chewing on sticks or chasing her foster siblings. She has adorable head turns and will certainly make many heads turn as you walk this beauty down the street! Gypsy would thrive most in a home with another dog to play with and to continue to learn socialization skills or a plan to take her out to doggy day care or play dates daily, hiking or walks. She has grown up with cats but will chase them since she thinks they want to play, so a dog-savvy cat family would be fine.   Like all puppies, it is time for teething and learning her boundaries. Because of this, a family with older children will be okay, but Gypsy’s excitement may knock over a tiny tot. Gypsy may make the mistake of finding the wrong household items for toys, such as shoes, but she responds very well to positive reinforcement and happily takes her toys in exchange. Gypsy has very good leash manners when walking alone or with another well-behaved dog to “show her the ropes.” Gypsy responds very well to learning through her foster siblings. In addition, lots of play time with all kinds of different toys, tug of war, and teething toys will be needed to keep her mind and body active. Gypsy Rose is looking for a family/person who understands puppyhood is work and she needs lots of love and will be patient with her as she grows and learns. She is constantly learning and will require gentle, positive reinforcement training and correction as she grows into a young adult.   At her age, she is housebroken, but accidents still may happen, and that will be something her new family will need to continue to work to ensure lots of outdoor potty breaks throughout the day. Gypsy is very smart and learns quickly what is expected of her. Gypsy is crate trained. She takes her meals and sleeps in her crate at night. A solid fenced yard to run and play is preferred for this little cutie and it should be 4-5ft tall minimum height without gaps. If no fence, her new peeps will need to ensure 4-5 daily outings for walks, play and running around.  Gypsy Rose may not be the perfect apartment dog, as she loves to voice her opinion. She has a beautiful bark and she knows it very well!   DOB 04/03/2022  As part of Gypsy Rose Lee's $275 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. This is a big boy with an equally big smile!  He loves being with his people and spending some good quality time couch chillin'.  He is quite couch potato and happy to just chill out and watch TV, read a book, or take a nice nap with you.  Harley has a very good personality, he loves attention then is good to hang out on the sofa or dog bed. He makes a great partner. He is house trained as long as his family takes him out regularly. He isn't really crate trained...just FYI on that but he doesn't really need to be crated.  He will hang out in the living room with his foster brother and is a well behaved.  He has good leash manners and walks easily without pulling you around.  He also loves car rides and going for a road trip, so pack him up with you and GO!  He does have a bit of separtion anxiety so having a happy home with people who either work from home, and/or are home more often than not, is the kind of family Harley is looking for. He is good in the car so instead of leaving him at home...take him with you. He will be the star of any place you go. Harley is a sweet boy with a great big smile.  He has started to chase his foster kittie some in a playful way. We haven't had an opportunity to have Harley meet the wee-ones since he is new to our rescue so we are unsure about the kiddos at this time.  Harley definitely wants another friendly dog friend in the home, so make sure you have another dog friend for him!  His confidence is better and he is happier with a furry sibling to hang out with each day.  He loves everyone he has meet. This handsome with the cutest little nub of a tail and his whole hind end wiggles when he is happy!  He does NOT require a fence because he is happy to hang out inside with you.  He could be a good apartment, condo or townhome pup as long as his family took him out a several times a day for a good walk and potty breaks.  Harley's DOB is 06/01/2013, and he is a 67lb. male, Lab/Hound mix. As part of Harley's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Harris is a young dog with an old soul. He is such a joy to have around and is a great companion. Harris "imitates' an older dogs personality because he is truly a chill boy and quiet just like older dogs are. He is a laid back, low-energy dog. Harris is a quiet dog and does not bark. If you are looking for a chill dog that doesn't demand much out of life, Harris is a great choice.   He loves all people, including children. Strangers are just another word for friend to Harris; he loves everyone he meets and vice versa. Harris is the best co-pilot; he rides well once you get him in the car. He is also a great companion if you are working or going to school from home. Harris loves his person and will stay by their side, so someone who is home a better part of the day would make him very happy. He would be a good pup for an apartment, condo or townhome since he is well behaved, quite and does not require a fence.   He is very smart, obedient, and is house trained. He is also already crate trained and sleeps 8 hours through the night.  He is leash trained and loves getting out for walks with his family and meeting other people and dogs on his daily walks.   Harris does have another dog and cat in his foster home. He likes to go on walks and play dates with his doggy friends, but he prefers to be the only pet at home to keep all the love and affection to himself. A home with a fenced in yard is not required but if you have one Harris does like to roam and play on his own or with his doggie friends. He likes playing with toys and a good ole game of tug-o-war is fun, too. Harris really is good with dogs in public, but really prefers to be the only at home. He does best with submissive dogs. Harris would be ok with a home cats. Harris is interested in cats and will curiously follow them. He will chase if they run so dog savvy cats are best.   DOB 01/11/2022. He is a 71lbs Lab/Shepherd mix. As part of Harris $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Harris, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

(DOB 07/21/2020) Whether it is sweet chocolate kisses or smooth ice cream treats, who doesn’t love some Hershey delights?  This girl is a pure delight who will give lots of kisses but eat all your ice cream.   At just 48 lbs, she’s a perfect size—not too big or too small.  Athletic, super smart, and engaging, she has tons of personality and is so much fun to have around. She loves toys and can quite often make her own fun, but she prefers you join in. She is quite the conversationalist and will talk with you when she wants you to play or when she needs to go out for potty.   She is a foodie (especially when it’s yours) and this makes training easy. She learned to sit on cue in just a few minutes. When it is time to go out for potty, she now knows she has to sit calmly at the door before going out.  She loves to be outdoors and explore all the smells, but she will chase after cats and squirrels in a flash and can easily scale my 5ft wooden fence (with horizontal braces). If her new home has a fence, it will need to be a flat-sided 5ft vinyl fence or any fencing type fencing that doesn't give footholds for her to use for climbing. No underground fences for her.  If no fence, she will need to be on leash when she is outdoors.   She would do okay as an only dog if her family had a work for home or stay at home parent and she was given lots of opportunities to play with other dogs, but she would do BEST with another playful dog in her new home.  She is house-trained and crate-trained.  Crating when you are away from home is recommended so mischief doesn’t find her while you are gone. With her energy and playfulness, she would do best with kids 10 and older. No cats, please!   As part of Hershey’s $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Hershey, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

Kodak is a sweet boy. He will put his front legs on you for attention and pets but will not get up in your lap. Reach down to pet him and he will allow you to pet him but he remains on guard. This guy needs a home with a 5ft or taller fence so he can run, play and have fun with his 4-legged family members!!! He is a bit on the shy side and other dogs help with his confidence. This handsome fellow is looking for a home with another furry sibling to play and hang out with.  After a play date, he is happy to chill out indoors. He is a good companion and already crate and house trained. He sleeps comfortably through the night in his crate.  He likes to chill out and take an afternoon siesta in his big doggy bed. With is shy personality, if you walk into the room he may shy away at first, so give him some time. He just wants love and trust. He is good on a leash as well. No condo, apartment or townhome because he is a bit of a talker. Kodak does get vocal at times, especially at meal times or when ever the mood hits him. He makes the funniest noises. We think you will see how cute it is; we certainly do. He is a good protector of the home and bit wary of strangers, so give him a little time to warm up to new people. He would like a home with a family that is kinda calm and chill like him; too much activity makes him a nervous so a quiter home will be best for him. Teenage kids and not young children if there are kids in the family. He likes to be able to see you while he is eating and not be "sneaked up upon." Kodak's DOB is 02/28/2021. As part of Kodak's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Can you say "Pretty in PINK?!" It's Ladybug's preferred color with her gorgeous black & white markings!  She just pop, pop, pops!!   This "little" fire cracker of a girl is full of happiness and enthusiasm for life. It radiates all over her face with the best, goofy smile. She loves to play. When she gets tired, the couch and TV are good for her, so sit down and take a load off with her. She is quite the gem and so funny! This girl will quickly steal your a place in your heart! She likes to snuggle with her family and prefers to be near you but not on top of you. She is happy to give you some much needed love and attention after a hard day to include kisses and licks of love.    Ladybug could be an only dog as long as her family made sure to give her lots of attention, several daily walks and lots of playtime. Otherwise another large dog (no little dogs for this girl) will need to be in her new family.  She needs a confident dog because she can be a bit bossy at the time. Ladybug needs a very active home or a large fenced in yard so she can run. There is nothing more fun for Ladybug than chasing another dog or even her human around the backyard! She will need a fenced yard and should be 5ft+ to keep her safely contained.  She can be a bit of an escape artist so keeping her safely in the yard is important. As far as children, good with older kids/teenagers due to size/energy/playfulness/little nippy. Cats are okay but she will chase them if they run, so a family with dog savvy cats should be fine for Ladybug.   The benefits of not adopting a young puppy...Ladybug is already house trained and crate trained. So check both of those things off your list of things to teach her.  She is very smart and in a short time has already learned a few simple commands. She does need more leash training so a family that will work with positive reinforcement training on her daily strolls will be needed.   She a little shy/timid with new people and is fine once she has some time to get to know them. Just know to be a little patient at 1st introductions. By nature, she is really gentle and sweet and just wants to be loved and spoiled. So please take the time daily to give her lots of attention becuase she loves to get pets and a good ole belly rub.   It would be nice if her people would take her places as she loves to be with her people. She loves a road trip and going places with you so don't leave her behind; take her as many places as you can!  Plus, she loves to dress up and she super cute!  We kinda believe "Pretty in Pink" for this doll!   Ladybut likes curling up with a bunch of blankets or grabbing all of the toys out of her toy box and spreading them all around her. You can tell how happy she is to have simply pleasures in life.  She will SMILE and she will have YOU smiling with her!   Ladybug has a funny little thing...she is "afraid of wooden floors but will follow other dogs over it."  It is a cute little thing to watch.   She is a 61lb Bulldog mix. Part of Ladybug's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. I'm ALL EARS and ready to hear you want to meet me!! I've been searching for my forever home for a long time. If you want a nice boy with a friendly attitude, I'm your guy! I keep getting overlooked, and I don't know why!  I am sweet boy with a great personality!   Bath time is my favorite! I love the water and the pets I get when you soap me up. Keeping me squeaky clean and smelling good will be an easy task.    I love going on walks.  And since I like bath time, it would be fun to find out if I like other water activities too!  Maybe I would enjoy pools, lakes or streams...adopt me and let's find some new adventures together! While out on a walk, I prefer a harness to a collar - it's much more comfortable.   The vet's office took me in when the shelter I was staying filled up and had no more room for me. It was so nice of them, and I do really, really appreciate them, but I VERY ready to find my fur-ever family!  I’m a sweet boy, and I love to make new friends.    I do have a cough, though, and that makes some people nervous. But don’t worry; I’m not sick or contagious! We aren’t sure exactly where it came from, but we think it may be due to scarring from the heartworms (they treated me and I am happy and healthy now!!) If I have a little coughing incident, I take some cough medicine and I’m good to go!     I want to find a nice warm bed to call my own that I can sleep in and be close to you! show less

Noli is a goofy girl that likes to roll around in the grass and bushes. She loves checking out her surroundings on walks or while going on runs. She will quickly snuggle up in your lap and is the greatest companion.  She does that cute arm crawl on her belly with her legs splayed out in frog style.   Noli is very social with people so meeting the neighbors while out walking or running will be fun for her, she loves attention.  She literally loves everyone she meets, including children, and always has a smile to share. Fashionista, I love to dress up, and I've been told I look quite stunning! I probably should have taken up a career in modeling, but it was more important to me to stay busy snuggling and giving kisses to my human friends. That’s right, I know I am cute but I am also a love bug!   I love taking my humans on a leisurely walk. I have even trained them to give me a treat because I am so good on a leash. They must like giving me treats because every time they ask me to sit, stay, or get on my bed they are so amazed with my talents, and they give me a tasty morsel. They must appreciate that I am very well behaved because they are always patting me on the head and calling me a “good girl.”   I am now 11 years old, but don’t let that stop you. I am looking good with my girlish cute figure and even with all those treats I am only 38 pounds. I also still love to run and play outside. I like to chase a ball but I must tell you a secret; I like tricking my humans because they actually believe I will bring the ball back to them after they throw it.     At the end of the day, I like to curl up on my bed or enjoy my quite time in my crate. Sometimes I even tuck myself in at night because my humans like to stay up past 10:00. Patches has the biggest, most infectious smile! Patches is a good companion in the car and well behaved. Wanna grab a coffe and a Pup-o-chino or ice cream, Patches is happy to join you!  This girl is a road trip fanatic!  She loves everyone she meets and vice versa.   Patches has been to doggie daycare, and she does well with all the other dogs and humans.  She has a lot of energy so other playful pups in her adoptive family will be awesome!  Check out some of her fun pictures at doggie day care!  On the flip side, Patches has some leash reactivity; just not her favorite way to be introduced to other pups.  Patches will need a home with 5ft+ fence because she has a lot of energy and wants to run around and play.  Patches could be an only pup or in a family with another sweet, playful and fun furry sibling(s). Patches lives with other dogs currently in her foster home.   Are you looking for a pup that enjoys the water for your Spring/Summer fun?  Patches says pick her!  Patches really enjoys the puppy pool so if you and your family like the water, she may really like hanging out with you at the lake, beach, pool etc.  Bonus if she has a furry friend to play in the water with-how much FUN!  Patches loves the snow, too.  So if you are family that loves water and snow activities, think what a great addition Patches would be to your active family?    She is good with other dogs and children but may be too rambunctious for children under 10 years of age due to her size. She has that happy puppy personality and is still working on her manners but she’s improving every day.  She knows the words No, Sit and Stay and is crate trained. She is a sweet girl and loves to cuddle and be loved.    She loves food and is very food motivated which is helpful for training purposes. She is very smart and a fast learner. She will sit patiently while you prepare her meals.   As part of Patches's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Patches, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org show less

(DOB 12/12/2020) Do good things really come in small(er) packages?  Remi says, “Yes, yes they do!”   Always the life of the party, Remi really knows how to have fun. She is outgoing, bubbly, funny, engaging, and she can shake her booty like a true dancing pro.  Her ears are always alert and at the ready for you to tell her how pretty she is and how much you love her. While she is a little lady, she is rough and tumble when she plays and she snorts like a pig when excited—which is often.   She loves toys and chews and peanut butter filled Kong’s—you will need those in abundance-- but what she wants most of all is your attention. She tends to always keep you in her line of vision, especially when outside. She loves being near you and will roll into you for cuddles and pets. She is good in the car and typically falls asleep within minutes.  Her second most favorite thing is food.  This girl can eat and is very exuberant at mealtimes.    We are learning how to ring a bell on the door when we have to go out for potty, but this little stinker sometimes rings the bell just for the fun of it.  She is doing well on her potty training, but she will need to be kept on a routine for success.   She is crate trained, but really does not like the crate because it means being away from you.  If she can see or hear you, she will cry and whine for a good bit, but eventually settles down. Crating when you are away from home is recommended so mischief doesn’t find her while you are gone.   She would do okay as an only dog, but she would NEED a family that has a work for home or stay at home parent and she was given lots of opportunities to play, or a family that will take her to daycare.  She is very energetic and playful, and is a nibbler when she plays, so she is looking for a home with kids 10 and older who can help properly correct and re-direct her play.  She does not need to be in a home with those other famous furries...kitties.   As part of Remi’s $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Remi, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less
