We would love to think that Angel had the heavenly start in life that his angelic personality deserves. Sadly, judging by the fact that his former owner heartlessly tied him to a tree outside of our shelter, that would appear doubtful. But, the past is the past, and this resilient dog is ready to start the life he deserves in a loving home! Angel appears to be a mix of white shepherd and perhaps labrador retriever. His big pink bunny ears make him extra adorable! Angel is a young fellow, and he’s likely already reached his full size. Angel has been in a foster home since shortly after he was left with us. Angel’s foster parents report that he is studiously housebroken. He can usually make it through the night, but he wakes a foster parent with a sweet kiss if he needs a potty break during the night. Angel doesn’t love being crated, but he tolerates it (with a little whining). Angel is extremely affectionate, and very devoted to his foster parents. Angel gets along great with other dogs, and he especially loves playing with his larger foster sister! Angel shows evidence of having survived a case of distemper when he was younger. Few dogs survive that illness, so Angel was lucky. The main residual effect for Angel is that he exhibits a neurological tic when he is relaxed or falling asleep. The tic is not present when he is active or sound asleep. Angel was recently started on daily gabapentin therapy, and his foster parents are happy to report a noticeable decrease in the intensity of Angel’s tics! Potential adopters should be aware that, assuming that Angel is to stay on gabapentin, it requires oral dosing three times a day. Angel readily takes his medication when sprinkled on food. Angel is a sweet and fun dog who deserved much better than the lousy start in life that was meted out to him. Please consider adopting this wonderful special-needs dog. The little bit of extra attention that his medical condition requires will be paid back a thousand fold with snuggles and kisses! Angel is fostered near Ajijic, MX and can be adopted locally or to parts of the US and Canada. show less
