APPLY FOR FOSTER TO ADOPT! Angel was found with her mom and 5 siblings and brought to Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center when they were about 4 weeks old. They moved into a wonderful foster home where mom could continue caring for her littles out of the shelter in the safety of a home. Now she is ready for adoption! Angel is a shy, sweet kitty that will need a patient adopter! After spending some time with her and seeing her come out of hiding a bit more, we knew something was off. When she walked, she would drag her hind legs a bit and seemed off balance. We took her into Harmony Vet Care and after and exam, we believe it's likely she's always had an odd gait but we could never see it while she was in hiding. At the time, it was not progressive and she was not in any pain so it was recommended that we monitor her for changes. A few months later, we noticed that her weakness seemed to be progressing in her hind end. We are now looking deeper into an explanation with more diagnostics being done. In the mean time, her foster mom is watching her closely.  Angel will need a quiet and patient home that understands she will be special needs for life. She is looking for a family that will help bring her out of her shell. We would love to see her go home with one of her foster siblings or to a home with a sweet and confident cat to show her that people are not so scary. All of our adoptable rescues have a clean bill of health (unless otherwise stated), are spayed/neutered, vaccinated (age-appropriately), tested (FeLV/FIV for cats, HW for dogs over 6 months of age), current on flea and heartworm prevention and microchipped. This is all included in their adoption fee that goes in as a donation to help us cover their medical costs and continue to help other animals in need. ADOPT ME! Carolina is one of many kittens and feline families that we have taken in this season. Carolina was found with her mom and 5 siblings and brought to Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center when they were about 4 weeks old. They moved into a wonderful foster home where mom could continue caring for her littles out of the shelter in the safety of a home. Now they are ready for adoption! Carolina is still a very shy and skittish lady so will need a calm and patient home, preferably with a young, confident cat friend that can be her support. Meet Ferdinand! Sweet and handsome Ferdinand had a rough life before he found a good Samaritan who helped him. When he was found he had heat exhaustion, was panting and pacing. Ferdinand was also diagnosed with a kitty cold, pneumonia, upset tummy caused by worms and had fleas. Living outside and trying to survive as best as he could took a toll on his body, but despite it all he remained the sweetest boy! Ferdinand has since joined our ALDR family, is fully vetted and ready for his furever home! He is a goofball that loves to play and will often be found having zoomies while playing with his toys. When he is ready for snuggles he loves pets, is a purr machine and will even drool from happiness. Ferdinand is a smart boy that will sit for treats and happily walk into his carrier as long as he gets a treat. He loves to hang out with his humans and will follow you around from room to room. Due to his calm and curious personality we think he would do well with another sweet kitty with a proper and slow introduction. This little guy was given to someone as a Christmas gift and shortly after that found himself looking for a new home so he joined our rescue! Finnegan is 3 months old, fully vetted, healthy and ready for a furrever family of his own! Finnegan, Finn for short, is a handsome ginger who is very chatty, playful and sweet, basically the full package! He is a high energy kitten that loves to play with wand toys, any automated toys and of course, other kitten friends. Once he is done playing, he loves to be held, or sit in your lap purring non-stop and getting snuggled. Even loves getting kisses! He happily comes when called, purring and looking for snuggles or play time. Finn needs a home with another young and playful kitty that would enjoy his personality, would want to play with him and snuggle once they are both tired out. We are not recommending a home for him with small kids, but he would love older kids to play and snuggle with.  If interested in adopting please fill out the adoption application on our website at animalluvrs.org under the ADOPT tab. Meet Firefly! Back in November 2021, we picked up a mama kitty and her 4 little ones from our friends at Pasco County Animal Services after they were brought in as strays. This sweet family was battling a kitty cold and while they all received excellent care and recovered easily, Firefly was still showing symptoms. We knew there was more going on than a typical cold so we got to work trying to figure out how to help this poor boy breathe a sigh of relief! After a plethora of diagnostics, medications, and discussions with doctors, an upper respiratory disease PCR test finally told us exactly what was wrong. Once we knew what we were dealing with, we were able to provide specific and targeted care and he was cleared by a veterinarian. Firefly is now a year old now and looking for his furever family! He is a very laid back cool cat that crawls into bed every night with his foster parents to sleep! He would much rather spend his time snuggling than playing, especially when it comes to his best kitty friend, Neptune, who is also available for adoption. Firefly gets along with every single animal in his foster home, which other cats and dogs of all sizes and actually LOVES all dogs he has met. Due to his rough past as a kitten, he still occasionally has viral flare ups, which should get less as he grows and strenghtens his immune system. Firefly is absolutely perfect and would love a home of his own where he can snuggle with anyone that will allow him to. Even though it's not required, we would love to see Firefly and Neptune find a home as a pair since they are such good friends. *******NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION******* Meet Frosty! This handsome friendly colony cat needed immediate medical attention and Cat Man Chris was looking for a rescue to help. Thankfully, we had a wonderful foster take him in and Frosty has been getting all medical care since. Frosty was covered in fleas, anemic because of them and had tummy issues, so he saw the vet at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay for some diagnostics. We found out that he is 8-9 years old, his white blood count was elevated, he has gum infection, which could mean stomatitis, SDMA slightly high, as well, but he was very dehydrated. Thankfully his kidney values were normal, but he did test positive for FIV, which is not a big deal, but could slow down his recovery as it affects the immune system. He has been started on a plethora of meds and we have seen an improvement in his bowel movements, appetite and mood as well over the last few days. Frosty will have a recheck soon to see how he is doing and what else he may need. Stay tune for more updates on this handsome fella! Meet Gamora! Back in September we were contacted by a friend and trapper asking for help with 4 kittens she trapped while working on a TNVR job. If you are unfamiliar with TNVR it stands for trap, neuter/spay, vet and return which is the only way to control the overpopulation problem we have in Florida. If no foster was found she would have been forced to have them spayed/neutered and return them where they were trapped. Thankfully, we had a wonderful foster home step up to take them in and they are now safe indoors getting the care they need. Gamora and Groot are in a wonderful foster home working on socializing and learning that the indoor life is the good life. They love to play with each other and any and all toys they can find. Both are still a little hesitant towards humans, but they love to be snuggled with once they are done playing. They are in a foster home with other cats and a small dog and get along well with everyone. Meet Jennie and Sienna! 💔🐾 These two came to us in 2020 as nervous outside kittens who quickly bonded in their foster home. They were adopted together but due to unforeseen circumstances they have been returned to us. They are very shy and although they are showing some progress since being returned, they will need a very patient and understanding home. They use the litter box, love their treats and eating in general! They have no medical issues and are heathy, fully vetted 2 year old kitties that need a furever home. Their perfect adopter would be someone who is home often and can show them lots of love and affection. Meet our Stranger Things family! We were contacted by a good Samaritan regarding a mama kitty that seemed to be pregnant, or may have recently given birth, and was living outdoors. When our temps dropped they opened the garage to provider shelter and mama quickly moved her kittens in. All have been since fully vetted and are now ready for homes of their own! Joyce is an adorable petite little lady and estimated at 3 years young! She is incredibly sweet and can't get enough pets and snuggles. If you stop petting her she quickly head bumps your hand for more snuggles, all while purring non-stop and kneading. Joyce has been a great mama, but now it's time for someone to spoil her and give her all the attention and snuggles she deserves and wants. She does not play much, but that could change once she is out of "mom mode". For now we think a home with another sweet, relaxed and snuggly cat would be ideal, or someone who is more home than they are not so that she would have company.  If interested in adopting please fill out the adoption application on our website at animalluvrs.org under the ADOPT tab. Meet Mandy! This gorgeous, 9 year old was surrendered to us when her owner was no longer able to care for her. We had a wonderful foster home take Mandy in and she has been settling in well! Mandy is incredibly sweet, very chatty, and loves to snuggle with her humans. She's good with dogs and cats that leave her alone. Even though she's confident in herself, she doesn't like loud noises or running. Mandy enjoys playing with catnip toys, sleeping on the couch/bed with her humans, gently asks for pets and is overall a very laid back girl! After being evaluated by a vet for a dental cleaning, she was found to have a heart murmur. Mandy was seen by a wonderful cardiologist that did not have any concerns for cardiac disease at this time and cleared her for anesthesia. ADOPT ME! This handsome 4 year old kitty was brought to a local veterinary clinic for urinary blockage and his family elected euthanasia over getting him the procedure he needed. Thankfully, he had someone advocating for him at the clinic and convinced the owners to surrender him, so Mr. Kitty joined our ALDR family for a second chance at life. He has been in a wonderful foster home with us and doing exceptionally well. Mr. Kitty was overweight when he was surrender weighing 17Ibs, but with his prescription diet he is losing weight and enjoying life! He likes his love bites for attention so we're not recommending him in a home with small children but he's good with dogs and other cats. He will always need to be on a special urinary diet but this wonderful boy makes it worth it. Mr. Kitty has been available for adoption for several months and has not had any inquiries. Meet Neptune! Neptune was adopted as a young kitten from ALDR, but then tragically his family's house burned down. As promised, we took him back into our care while the family tried to rebuild. Being that he has been in foster care for over a year now and his family is still displaced they have made the difficult decision to allow him to find a new home. Neptune is a very affectionate and chatty kitty who craves attention and will often come and curl up in bed with his foster family. He would prefer to be in a home that is very quiet and calm and is not a fan of other dogs or cats. However, he has befriended another foster kitty in his current home, (Firefly) and would love a home with him. Neptune can be found curled up with his bestie and while not required, we would LOVE for them to be adopted as a pair. Neptune is now about three years old and if there is another fur family member in the house it would have to be a very disinterested, submissive pet. Due to no fault of her own, after years in what we thought would be her furever home, Nova found herself back in foster care.  Even though she went through a stressful situation of losing her home of 6 years, Nova remained the absolute sweetest cat. Not only does she have an amazing personality, but she is also absolutely gorgeous with her fluffy, soft, shiny grey fur, adorable face and sweet amber eyes. She loves to be wherever her humans are and will happily climb into your lap the second you sit down for some snuggles, all while purring non-stop. She's also big on head bonks, rubbing against your leg and following you around. Despite her age, she still loves to play, especially with catnip toys and wand toys. Nova is currently in a foster home with other cats and small dogs and gets along well with everyone, but she would prefer a home with another mellow kitty like herself, or to be the only kitty in her new home. Last year, we took in two tiny kittens from our county shelter after they were found in the engine of a car that was sent to go to auction. They have since been in a wonderful foster home and have blossomed into their own unique personalities. Now that they are healthy and fully vetted they are ready for a home of their own TOGETHER! Ray, the all black kitten, is packed with personality and is not afraid to show it. He will meow for his human if he cant see you but is definitely skittish and very shy at first. He is super snuggly on the couch or in bed if household is calm and quiet. His sister, Tianna had a eye injury that has left a scar, but that just adds to her charm. She is an adorable little lady who is super sweet and always curious. Both kitties are extremely friendly, playful and outgoing, but get spooked by very loud noises, so a home without small children would be ideal. They are in a foster home with other cats and very kitty friendly large dogs and get along well with everyone.  If interested in adopting please fill out the adoption application on our website at animalluvrs.org, or email us at aldr@animalluvrs.org for more information. All of our adoptable rescues have a clean bill of health (unless otherwise stated), are spayed/neutered, vaccinated (age-appropriately), tested (FeLV/FIV for cats, HW for dogs over 6 months of age), current on flea and heartworm prevention and microchipped. This is all included in their adoption fee that goes in as a donation to help us cover their medical costs and continue to help other animals in need. show less

Back in September this adorable 10 month old kitten was brought into the Hillsborough county shelter as a stray and due to not being social was set to be TNRd (trap, neuter/spay, release). However, in order to be TNRd you have to be 3Ibs and little Willow did not make that requirement, but sadly still received an ear tip which is a sign an outdoor kitty has been spayed/neutered and vaccinated. Willow sat in the shelter for over two months waiting for someone to adopt her, but due to being overstimulated in the shelter environment she would often swat at anyone petting her, but also roll around her kennel for more pets. If you are not a cat person, these are very confusing signs from a kitty! Luckily we had a wonderful foster home step up to take Willow in back in November and she's been loving being in a home. Willow is incredibly sweet, loves pets and snuggles, is making friends with the other kitties in her foster home and enjoying life. She loves playing with toys, but will forgo playtime for snuggles any chance she gets. She is a little clumsy and wobbly, so we suspect Willow has very mild CH (Cerebellar hypoplasia), which is a neurological condition in which the cerebellum is smaller than usual or not completely developed. It is not contagious, requires no treatment and is non progressive, just makes them extra cute! Willow's ideal home would be with another sweet and playful kitty and humans that enjoy very affectionate cats!  If interested in adopting please fill out the adoption application on our website at animalluvrs.org under the ADOPT tab. We will require veterinary, personal and property references that we will verify. Feel free to email us at aldr@animalluvrs.org for more information.
