Please note that SNARR NE is a volunteer-based organization. While our volunteers will try to respond to you as quickly as possible, it is helpful if you review the below information about our adoption process before emailing: LISTED BREED(S) & AGE: We are taking our best guess on age, breed, and size when fully grown, based on the puppy's/dog's physical appearance and what we might have learned about one or both parents depending on the situation. *NOTE* We rarely know a dog's exact age, nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. Because we often do not have access to medical records at the time that we are listing for dogs for adoption, there are sometimes discrepancies between what is posted on their profile and what might be listed on a dog's medical records. This sweet boy was found extremely malnourished and being abused. He was taken in by a shelter in North Carolina and nursed back to health. Unfortunately, that shelter was getting filled up and they reached out to SNARR to bring him north and help him find his forever family. Bootsie is great with other dogs but we aren't sure about cats yet. He is neutered and up to date on his shots. Unfortunately,  he was HW+, and a kind volunteer helped pay for his HW treatment while he was in NC. Bootsie LOVES playing with his ball and would make a great companion for someone who wants to play fetch. He is very treat motivated and is working on his basic commands. Given Bootsie's past of living outside... he isn't so sure how he feels about these Northern winters yet and so far prefers to hang out and give you love inside. Can you give Bootsie a home to show him the love that he deserves?! She and her newborn puppies were rescued by SNARR Northeast when they were being kept in a small wire crate in a backyard void of shade, with only a piece of plywood laid on the crate to shield them from the elements.Dolly is a 50 pound bundle of energy. Vets have estimated her age to be 2 years old. Her favorite past time is zipping around a yard, and she is incredibly fast. She loves to try to engage other dogs in chasing her. Because Dolly rarely tires, she needs a family that is as active as she is. A fenced in yard would be best to expend her energy. This fun loving girl would make an excellent exercise buddy and loyal companion. Dolly is not a fan of cats, so she would prefer a home without them. I used to live with me mom, dad and little brother but my family had to move into an apartment and I tend to bark if I hear anything out of the ordinary, so they couldn't keep me anymore :( I would love to live in a house again so I can run and play in the yard! I am potty trained and know how to use a doggy door. I can be a little shy/timid when I first meet new people or go to new places, but once I warm up I am a little lovebug! I have an independent side and am full of personality! His ideal home would include a fenced-in yard, and he does prefer a home without young children or large dogs. Meet Waffles! We think she is a terrier/cattle dog mix and around 4 years old. She was rescued with her daughter Noodles from an area where there is an abundance of homeless dogs, and not a lot of shelter space for them to go while they wait for their forever homes.Waffles is fully house trained and crate trained. She loves dog beds and comfy places where she can look out the window to observe what’s going on outside. She knows her name and consistently follows the commands: sit, down, place, and here. We think she can learn many more commands. She is a smart lady! She loves adults and older children. She is alert and connected to her humans. She will be right at your side to make sure things are going smoothly. Her smile and ears are adorable. Her tail never stops wagging especially when there is the possibility of a treat. She loves to solve problems like finding treats under cups and chasing ice cubes. She also loves to be active outside! When she is tired after adventures, she loves stretching out to sleep in sunny spots. Waffles would prefer a home where she could be the only dog in the home to soak up all the attention. Waffles is a little unsure of new people at first and will require training and patience when introducing her to new people. Waffles is currently residing at our adoption center in Brewster, NY. She is looking for a foster or adopter!! In November 2020 she was heartworm positive. She completed the treatment and continues on heartworm prevention medicine (Heartguard). SNARR'S ADOPTION PROCESS: The first step in adopting or meeting a SNARR dog/puppy is to fill out an application at https://snarrnortheast.org/adopt/. Once we receive your application, one of our adoption application processors will contact you, review our adoption process with you, and answer any additional questions you may have. **We do not go on a first-come-first-serve basis for adoptions, but on best fit for a family and most importantly the puppy or dog. ** MEETING ADOPTABLE DOGS: Meet and greets will not be scheduled until after your adoption application has been fully processed and approved by one of our adoption processors. APPLYING ONLINE: If you fill out an online application, please do so from a computer (not a mobile device), make sure you answer ALL the questions in as much detail as possible, and that you receive a confirmation email. *Name: Alex *Age: approx 4 years old *Current Weight: approx 55 pounds *Rescued from: Texas *Adoption fee: $375  (plus $125 spay/neuter deposit, see below for more information) *Health: Up to date on vaccines, & microchipped *Adoption requirements: Adopter must be 25 or older,  Meet Alex! We think he is a shepard mix around 4 years old. This sweet boy's story is heartbreaking. He was seen on a rescue page in rural texas. A man had gone to fish and saw a dog, lost and alone in the middle of the mountains and hills. Poor Alex was so terrified he was crawling and hiding in the bushes. The man fed him and posted a video for help. SNARR said yes to helping! After his journey from Texas, Alex has been with his foster family in Massachusetts. He has a curious and playful energy and quickly made himself at home. He is currently about 55 pounds but with plenty of room to grow now that he's eating regularly. He would love a home with an active family who enjoys spending time outdoors and that would take him on plenty of walks. He needs a little practice with his commands and getting the hang of being an inside dog, but has proven to be a quick and enthusiastic learner who loves to please. Though he can be a little timid around new dogs at first, Alex loves playing with his foster fur-sister and wouldn't mind a home with another doggy companion to play with. If he was the only dog, he'd surely be equal parts snuggly and down for an adventure with you outdoors! He is truly a gentle giant who would be a great addition to any family. No home with no small kids. His prey drive is high so no cats or small animals. Alex is heartworm + and currenlly on medication for this. IMPORTANT: This dog has not yet been altered. SNARR requires a $125 deposit in addition to your adoption fee, as well as a strictly enforced Spay/Neuter Contract stating you will have this dog altered within 6 months of adoption. The $125 deposit will be returned once the contract has been fulfilled. *Name: Alfie *Age: approx 6 months *Rescued from: Texas (currently located with foster in Texas, transport will be scheduled once adopted.) *Adoption fee: $150 *Health: Up to date on vaccines, spayed, & microchipped *Adoption requirements: Adopter must be 25 or older,  My name’s Alfie! I’m a sweet girl & house panther with beautiful eyes. They say I’m on the chunkier side, compared to my siblings anyways. Being chunky just means I have a healthy appetite & a taste for gourmet food. My foster mama discovered my siblings & I in playing in their garage after they left it cracked for a possum to leave after it took residence. She caught us using a fishnet & food! Thankfully our foster mama has a heart of gold who decide to take us all in until we found a good home. I love playing with other humans, kittens, toys & scratching posts. I grew up with a lot of cats, so a home with or without other cats to play with would be amazing for me. I was born in the hot streets of Houston but thankfully I now spend my days playing with my siblings in a room with ac, yummy food & lots of toys! I share my toys pretty well, just don’t touch my food. I’m a beautiful girl with a short black coat. I’m vocal especially when it’s dinner time. They say I’m a brave girl because I’m a curious one, so if you’re looking for a curious kitten with a love for food I’m your girl.  To apply to adopt, fill out an application at https://snarrnortheast.org/adopt/ FAQs -- PLEASE READ ALL BEFORE EMAILING All adoption fees are non-refundable If paying by credit card, Venmo, or PayPal there is a set processing fee, generally this fee is under $15 per pet. *Name: Alfie (Trinity) *Age: approx 2 years old *Current Weight: 50 pounds *Rescued from: Texas (Currently located with a foster in Texas, transport will be scheduled once adopted.) *Adoption fee: $375  (plus $125 spay/neuter deposit, see below for more information) *Health: Up to date on vaccines, & microchipped *Adoption requirements: Adopter must be 25 or older, another dog in the home, Tall fully fenced yard Alfie was taken in by a very kind husband and wife, in a rural area of Texas, where there is no help for homeless animals. With there being no local animal shelter, The couple took in over 40 dogs to keep them from starving on the streets. When the husband passed away and his wife fell ill, SNARR NE was asked to help out with the placement of the dogs. Alfie is an active and incredibly smart boy who likes nothing more than to stretch his legs. He'd suit an active couple who wants an outgoing boy - if you can lob a tennis ball you'll have a friend for life. He presses his body into yours to show his gratitude for being pet. He's a strong bundle of enthusiasm, so he needs to join a family with adults or older children. He is looking for someone who understands that at some point in his life he didn't have much, so he finds it hard to share his food. He loves absolutely everyone human and K-9, except assertive males. He needs a playmate and tall fully fenced yard with no access out because he is an agile boy who can jump very high. He likes toys, lots of toys... and play time... He is crate trained. Although this boy is energetic he will absolutely calm down and snuggle up with you. If you are an active family who spends a lot of time outside this boy would make a perfect addition! IMPORTANT: This dog has not yet been altered.
