*Name: Abby *Age:  3 years *Current Weight:  50 pounds *Rescued from:  Texas *Adoption fee: $375 *Health: Up to date on vaccines, & microchipped, Abby is Heartworm positive and has started treatment. *Adoption requirements: Adopter must be 25 or older, Prefer fenced yard    Meet sweet Abby, although Mello Yellow or Super Chill would be better names for this sweetheart is cool as a cucumber.  Abby gave birth to her puppies under her owner's trailer home.  But, weeks after giving birth, her puppies became very ill and 3 passed away.  Luckily the neighbor reached out and we were able to save the remaining nine.  Just like her puppies, momma Abby is a resilient girl and she has not lived a comfortable life.  But that's in the past, we are thankful her owner agreed that he was unable to properly care for her and surrendered her to SNARR.  Just as SNARR is finding wonderful families for her puppies (Cleveland Nine Litter), it's time for momma Abby to find her perfect home.  Are you looking for a calm, quiet, relaxed pup?  Then, Abby is your gal.  She is sweet, laid-back, respectful and affectionate.  She is quickly learning the benefits of the good life at her foster home.  Abby loves to sleep on the bed, appears to be house trained, no accidents in the house and has been a perfect house guest. Just seems always happy to greet you and enjoys pets/kisses and if a treat is involved even better.   Abby is gentle with kids and good with other dogs but not cats.  If you are looking for a kind, loving appreciative, laid-back gal, you have found your perfect match, apply for Abby today.         To apply to adopt, fill out an application at https://snarrnortheast.org/adopt/ ------------------------------------------------------- FAQs -- PLEASE READ ALL BEFORE EMAILING ------------------------------------------------------- Please note that SNARR NE is a volunteer-based organization. ****Please do not send messages to the rescue asking if a dog is still available; if a dog is still listed on Petfinder, we are still accepting applications for them. PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO & FAQs BEFORE EMAILING THE RESCUE**** *Adoption requirements: adopter must be 25 or older Alfie was taken in by a very kind husband and wife, in a rural area of Texas, where there is no help for homeless animals. With there being no local animal shelter, The couple took in over 40 dogs to keep them from starving on the streets. When the husband passed away and his wife fell ill, SNARR NE was asked to help out with the placement of the dogs. Alfie is an active and incredibly smart boy who likes nothing more than to stretch his legs. He'd suit an active couple who wants an outgoing boy - if you can lob a tennis ball you'll have a friend for life. He presses his body into yours to show his gratitude for being pet. He's a strong bundle of enthusiasm, so he needs to join a family with adults or older children. He is looking for someone who understands that at some point in his life he didn't have much, so he finds it hard to share his food. He loves absolutely everyone human and K-9, except assertive males. He needs a playmate and tall fully fenced yard with no access out because he is an agile boy who can jump very high. He likes toys, lots of toys... and play time... He is crate trained. Although this boy is energetic he will absolutely calm down and snuggle up with you. Sometimes when Alfie gets really excited he will dribble, he can't help it, he is just really happy to see you. If you are an active family who spends a lot of time outside this boy would make a perfect addition! IMPORTANT: This dog has not yet been altered. For any dog or puppy that is not able to be spayed/neutered prior to adoption, SNARR requires a $125 deposit in addition to your adoption fee, as well as a signed Spay/Neuter Contract stating you will have this dog altered within 6 months of adoption. The $125 deposit will be returned once the contract has been fulfilled. *Name: Alfie *Age: 6 months *Rescued from: Texas *Adoption fee: $150 *Health: Up to date on vaccines, & microchipped *Adoption requirements: Adopter must be 25 or older,  My name’s Alfie! I’m a sweet girl & house panther with beautiful eyes. They say I’m on the chunkier side, compared to my siblings anyways. Being chunky just means I have a healthy appetite & a taste for gourmet food. My foster mama discovered my siblings & I in playing in their garage after they left it cracked for a possum to leave after it took residence. She caught us using a fishnet & food! Thankfully our foster mama has a heart of gold who decide to take us all in until we found a good home. I love playing with other humans, kittens, toys & scratching posts. I grew up with a lot of cats, so a home with or without other cats to play with would be amazing for me. I was born in the hot streets of Houston but thankfully I now spend my days playing with my siblings in a room with ac, yummy food & lots of toys! I share my toys pretty well, just don’t touch my food. I’m a beautiful girl with a short black coat. I’m vocal especially when it’s dinner time. They say I’m a brave girl because I’m a curious one, so if you’re looking for a curious kitten with a love for food I’m your girl. If you are looking for a fun, active, playful, loving girl, you don't have to click any further Aubrey is the one for you. Aubrey can be mouthy in playful manner especially when she is excited so small kids may not be the best for her. We would love a fenced yard for this girl. She needs an active family and/or another playful canine sibling with energy to romp in the back yard. Aubrey was saved with her puppies from a high-kill shelter in south Texas. This girl knows she is lucky and ready to live everyday to it's fullest. Audrey was rescued from an area where there is an abundance of homeless dogs, and not a lot of shelter space for them to go while they wait for their forever homes. Astrid is shy when she first meets new people but she is also very intelligent and once she figures out that you are safe and kind, she will seek out love and affection from you. She loves to be pet and have her chin scratched. She will lay down and roll over for belly rubs too! Her favorite pastimes are laying in the sun and chewing on her bones. Astrid is startled by loud/sudden noises so she would do best in a more quiet home without young children. Astrid is crate trained and house trained . Astrid does need a human who is willing to work with her on basic commands and manners, as well as socialization. Her Ideal home would be with another dog to help her come out of her shell. She has had a troubled past, but we can not stress enough what a great dog she is. She has loved everyone she has met since she has become part of the SNARR family. Everyone has loved her as well. We can’t understand why she hasn’t been adopted yet. Astrid deserves a family of her own. She will make a great addition to a family! Could you be Astrid's forever family? She thrives on being part of the family, sitting by your side at work, snuggling on the sofa, or romping with the kids. Sweet and easygoing from the start, she can be anxious at times and needs some extra TLC. Bambi has a sweet curiosity and loves taking “sniffy” walks where she can explore with her nose. She enjoys outdoor time, whether doing zoomies around the yard or basking in the sun. And she’s known to chase after a tennis ball or stuffed toy from time to time! Bambi thrives on affection and loves getting pets – be it her family or someone on the street! When you come home, she’ll run to greet you with a waggy tail. She is very chill around people and patient with children. When encountering other dogs, she will often bark fiercely and pull to get towards them – but it’s usually accompanied by an upright tail and, for all her ferocity, she just wants to sniff and say hi. She has occasionally been fearful of other, larger dogs. Her new owner will need to have the experience and willingness to work with her to get her comfortable in these situations. Bambi is fully housebroken and can be left alone in the house without being crated. At night, she is happy to curl up in her dog bed, as long as it is near yours. While our volunteers will try to respond to you as quickly as possible, it is helpful if you review the below information about our adoption process before emailing:   LISTED BREED(S) & AGE: We are taking our best guess on age, breed, and size when fully grown, based on the puppy's/dog's physical appearance and what we might have learned about one or both parents depending on the situation. *NOTE* We rarely know a dog's exact age, nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. She knows she’s a rare ginger female. She loves head and neck scratches and will roll on her belly to tell you how much she loves the attention. Based on her confident, human-centric personality Birdie was likely a pet abandoned outside. She was found emaciated and with a badly injured tail. After some TLC and successful surgery she’s got an adorable little nub that just adds to her diminutive cuteness.  Birdie is a small cat, only weighing about 9 pounds.  She has beautiful orange swirls on her sides.  Birdie wants to be the queen of her house so she would do well as the only female cat. She gets along with male cats and she also does well with dogs. This lovely lady doesn’t love to be picked up but definitely wants to sit beside you and comes when called.  She is looking forward her forever home and is so appreciative to be loved and cared for again. These cuties truly had a rough start first being born on the streets of rural Texas only to battle illness at an early age. Luckily, our little fighters beat the odds so their story doesn't end on those rural east Texas roads thanks to their fighting spirit and a few caring individuals to fight with them. These pups are curious, love to explore, chew and play with their toys, wrestling with each other and just enjoy life. Our handsome boy Blackie is full of personality and we know will make the best companion for a loving deserving family. Blackie just loves all the attention he can get whether it's belly rubs or playing tug a war with him. This litter of adorable puppies was rescued from an area where there is an abundance of homeless dogs, and not a lot of shelter space for them to go while they wait for their forever homes.  IMPORTANT: This puppy has not yet been altered. For any dog or puppy that is not able to be spayed/neutered prior to adoption, SNARR requires a $125 deposit in addition to your adoption fee, as well as a strictly-enforced signed Spay/Neuter Contract stating you will have this dog altered within 6 months of adoption. Bonnie will be placed in a home that currently has a friendly dog to help her come out of her shell. She will also need a secure fenced in yard (no electric fence, please).  Hello, my name is Bonnie. I may seem a little shy but give me some time, lots of patience, as well as some treats and you will gain my trust. I do like having another dog around to follow and make me feel more comfortable about people and going on walks. I am cat friendly, too! I have been around kids before and am okay with them, but when they get loud I get a little nervous. I am kennel trained and know to get into my kennel when I am told “kennel”. I know the command come, sit, down and shake. I am doing well with house training but still have my moments, just keep your eye on me and watch for me to wait by the door. Since I feel more comfortable and confident with another dog, my furever home must have a friendly age appropriate canine sibling. I love going on walks but am a little hesitant when I see people or cars driving by, but after a while I become more comfortable with it. I may be unsure with you at first but give me some time(and LOTS of treats) and we will become best friends! Meet Bruno!!! Bruno is  3 1/2 years old,  weighs around 45lbs, neutered and UTD on all his shots.  This sweet boy was rescued from Chesterfield SC when his owners lost their housing.  Bruno is such a good boy and just looking for someone to love.  When his prior family lost their housing they had to give up poor Bruno and the shelter begged us to take him, as he is such a wonderful boy and boy were they right.   Bruno would do best in a home without children.  We are also looking to place Bruno in a home with a fenced in yard and a quite home.  Bruno is now in foster and they can't say enough good things about this beautiful boy. He is calm and loving and just an all around good boy. He loves to just cuddle up on the couch and let's out a breathe of relief as to say thank you for saving me.  Bruno is not over the top active,  just happy taking a nice long stroll with his person.  And he walks just beautifully on the leash. His foster family said if they didn't want to continue to foster this one would definitely be a keeper. The pictures don't do this boy justice, he is even more beautiful in person. If you are interested in meeting him please go to our website and fill out an application at https://snarrnortheast.org/adopt/.  **PLEASE READ ALL BEFORE EMAILING** If you are interested in adopting any of the puppies, our adoption fee is $495 ( puppies) $375 (adults) which includes transportation from the South and we do suggest putting a 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice on your application if applying for a puppy with several littermates. **Please understand that we are a volunteer based organization. While our volunteers try to answer all emails/questions as quickly as possible, below please find answers to some of our most frequently asked questions. We ask that you please read these FAQ's to see if your question has already been answered before emailing additional questions: - If a dog or puppy is listed on Petfinder, they are still available. Please do not email asking if they are still available. If a dog or puppy is still listed, then we are still accepting applications :-) We do not go on a first come first serve basis, but on best fit for the family and most importantly, the puppy or dog. - We are taking our best guess on breed and size when fully-grown (or already an adult), based on the puppy's/dog’s physical appearance and what we might have learned about one or both parents depending on the situation. We rarely are able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time.  - Currently we do not have a physical shelter to visit our animals. Our expected opening will be in February-March 2019. Our dogs/puppies are either in foster care or are adopted straight from transport. An application is necessary to meet any dog/puppy. Often, dogs and puppies are spoken for before they arrive. Many people feel more comfortable with a meet and greet which we completely understand and respect, however please know you are taking a chance of that puppy/dog getting adopted by someone else before hand. - The way to start the process for any dog or puppy is by filling out an application. Applications for foster or adoption can be found at www.snarrnortheast.org and by clicking either adopt or foster from the main menu. If you fill out an application, please make sure you answer all the questions in as much detail as possible and that you receive a confirmation email, otherwise we did NOT receive it. show less

Meet Brutus. The sweetheart has many loves, his people, napping, mealtime, playing catch, playing in the water and being a coach potato.  Brutus is up for the latest must see on Netflix or Hulu and he’s not picking, he is happy for you to pick every time.  But you better move over, at 70 pounds he needs some space, but Brutus considers himself part lap dog so if you’re taking up too much room he doesn’t really mind, your lap or couch makes no difference to our boy.  Brutus enjoys being outside (not as much as inside) but maybe the Texas heat tires him out fairly quick, we are sure he will enjoy those cooler northern temps.  If you are looking for a snuggle buddy maybe this hunk of love is your prefect match.   IMPORTANT: This dog has not yet been altered. Once we receive your application, one of our adoption application processors will contact you, review our adoption process with you, and answer any additional questions you may have. **We do not go on a first-come-first-serve basis for adoptions, but on best fit for a family and most importantly the puppy or dog. **   MEETING ADOPTABLE DOGS: Meet and greets will not be scheduled until after your adoption application has been fully processed and approved by one of our adoption processors.   APPLYING ONLINE: If you fill out an online application, please do so from a computer (not a mobile device), make sure you answer ALL the questions in as much detail as possible, and that you receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive a confirmation email, that means we did NOT receive your application. show less

PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO BEFORE EMAILING**** *Name: Vanilla Bean & Butters *Age: 1 year & 1 year *Current Weight: 30 pounds & 51 pounds *Rescued from: Texas *Adoption fee: $600 for both (must be adopted together)  *Health: up to date on required vaccines *Adoption requirements: adopter must be 25 or older There is one lucky family out there perfect for these girls. Surrender by their owner to a high kill shelter, these lucky girls were saved by SNARR. They are both wonderful medium sized dogs. Vanilla Bean is 30 pounds and Heartworm positive, she is currently being treated and SNARR will continue to pay for this treatment. Butters is 55 pounds but is a bit over weight and should really be under 50 pounds. She is heartworm negative. The girls love each other so we can't bare to separate them. Butters doesn't meet a stranger and enjoys playing with her toys. Vanilla Bean can be a little shy especially compared to her very outgoing buddy. But VB is quick to warm up and was happy to be in my lap after a few minutes. If you are looking for a wonderful pair of buddies to share your life with, these are the girls for you. Vanilla Bean & Butters was rescued from an area where there is an abundance of homeless dogs, and not a lot of shelter space for them to go while they wait for their forever homes. They will be arriving at SNARR's Adoption Center in Brewster, NY on April 14th ready for adoption! ****Please do not message the rescue asking if this dog is still available; if a dog/puppy is still listed on Petfinder, we are still accepting applications for them. PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO BEFORE EMAILING**** *Name: Cassie *Age: 5 years *Current Weight: 60 pounds *Rescued from: Texas *Adoption fee: $375  Cassie is a sweet, smart, special girl! We estimate she's probably about 5 years old and has a beautiful mostly black coat with a bit of brindle in it. She's currently 60 pounds. We found her running alongside the road in the country where we live. She was a bit skinny, had a bit of mange and really long nails. She jumped right into my car though! We felt like she had owners before but could not find them despite our efforts. At first meeting, she can be a bit timid but warms up pretty quickly to both human and dog friends. As long as other dogs are friendly to her, she's friendly back. She loves attention, cuddling and rubs just as much as she loves to play as well! She LOVES to run and play chase and boy is she a fast runner! She loves companionship and would love to have another companion that would love to play chase with her as well! And a big backyard to do all the running in! She's currently spoiled right now because we live on 10 acres, so she has tons of room to run around. For a doggie companion, I think she would do best with a male as she does have a bit of jealousy sometimes towards one of our female dogs. We have one male dog and that is her pal and the one she also plays chase with as well! Her chase/wrestle behavior I've observed is different and a bit misleading. She will sometimes raise her hair and show her teeth but then do a play bow all while wagging her tail. So she really is just playing and having fun! She will also run with her tail tucked if she's the one being chased. We've figured it's actually a tactic so the other dog won't try and snap at it. She's smart! She also loves to play fetch and tug, but only tug with humans. She hasn't mastered tug with doggie friends yet. She prefers to play keep away with them instead! She does love any toy with a squeaker! With kids, she now does fantastic! When she first arrived, she was very skittish of our 4 year old son. Especially when he would run around the house or come up from behind her and touch her and spook her, not meaning to scare her on purpose. She has now settled in nicely with him and loves giving him kisses and getting attention from him! She would now relish having children to dote sweetly on her! She also showed quite the maternal side when our sister in law and her month old baby came to stay. Cassie would lay outside her door and wait for them to come out and say hi to them. She would also check on the baby if she started fussing. It was very sweet! She is a very loving dog and can't wait to meet her perfect forever family! *Health: up to date on required vaccines *Adoption requirements: adopter must be 25 or older Cassie was rescued from an area where there is an abundance of homeless dogs, and not a lot of shelter space for them to go while they wait for their forever homes. She will be arriving at SNARR's Adoption Center in Brewster, NY on May 19th ready for adoption!
