Wolfie is a one year old beautiful Dutch Shepard/GSD Mix. More than anything, Wolfie is a companion dog, she is not a service dog, nor a sports candidate. She is the perfect dog for a couple with another friendly, easygoing dog or family with older, gentle children who just want a great family dog. When Wolfie first came into MAD, she was a bit timid, but for good reason. When rescued, Wolfie was only a few hours away from being euthanized due to overcrowding in the shelter. Once out of the shelter environment, she realized she was in a safe place, opened right up. Wolfie is friendly, playful, and attentive. She is a gentle, sweet soul that really loves her people. Overall, Wolfie has medium energy and drive. She has shown an interest in playing fetch and seems to be pretty comfortable/confident on walks (e-collars or prongs would diminish her confidence, so not appropriate to use, instead positive reinforcement is encouraged). Wolfie loves all people including older, dog saavy, gentle children. Cats are unknown, but she has been calm around the foster's chickens. Wolfie sleeps in a crate only because she currently lives with several other dogs. She does not need to be crated and does not really like the crate. She does fine with a dog bed or open-door crate. She is not destructive and is house trained so good to have free-roam, if she needs to be contained, baby gates at door ways do the trick. Especially if she has something to make the restriction enjoyable, i.e., chew sticks, Kongs or a food puzzle. Wolfie will do best with a person, couple or family where someone is home most of the time. She loves company!
