Beau and Iris are a beautiful pair!  They were originally found in a hoarding situation and taken in by Genesee County Animal Control in 2021 and were adopted to a family.  They do not seem to like kids and their family is getting ready to have a baby, so they need to find a new home.   These kitties have Feline Leukemia, but are healthy and happy kitties. While cats with Feline Leukemia will likely have shorter lifespans, they are very special cats and deserve all the love.   Beau is a very energetic, loving boy.  He will follow you around the home and has loved being a lap cat until the owner became pregnant.  He still loves to be petted, brushed, have his belly rubbed, and always wants to be around you.  He has lots of energy and loves chasing laser dots, mice on strings, and balls.  He loves Iris a lot and always wants to play with her but he can be a bit much for her sometimes.  He loves food and churus.  He is a little more timid and takes a little time to warm up, but he is very affectionate when he gets comfortable.  He is a healthy boy but seems to get hairballs or vomiting sometimes, but he goes 4-6 weeks without issues.   Iris isn't really a lap cat but she does let her family carry her around or will sit in laps for a short period of time.  She is still really affectionate in her own way.  She really loves pets and will often plop down while getting pets because she is so happy.  She also comes over to her humans throughout the day for pets or to ask them to throw coils so she can chase them.  Iris is curious and fearless.  She is an excellent jumper and likes exploring.  She got comfortable right away in her new home and will probably be much quicker to adjust than Beau, who may take a bit to warm up.  She is vocal and lets you know when she wants pets.  She doesn't like being away from her humans for very long, so we think she would be happiest in a home where she could sleep in bed with her humans. She has a history of some digestive issues but she is on prescription food and probiotics which seem to really help.   They are also eligibile for our Forever Foster program, which means that our rescue will supply anything you need, including vet care, but you can keep the kitties in your home like you adoptd them. This helps cats who have special needs find homes without the worry of medical bills or care they need. You can read about our Forever Foster program here: https://ferndalecatshelter.org/forever-foster/ They would love to find a home together. They also come with a litter robot and lots of kitties supplies!   Please apply to foster or adopt these cuties today! show less

*Costello and Whitney are a BONDED PAIR* Costello and Whitney were rescued from Hamtramck in summer of 2021. They are VERY eager to find their furever family! Whitney is a sweet and cuddly purr factory that loves to explore. Her brother Costello takes things at his own pace and is bit more cautious than his carefree sister. They love to play, snuggle, and spend quality time with their foster mama. Whitney and Costello have been raised around other kitties and are very comfortable being a part of a pride. They have not had any dog friends, but may do well with a calm and gentle dog sibling. Costello and Whitney are FIV+ FIV Is often the easiest of the three viruses for humans to wrap our minds around, because it’s very similar to the “human” version of the virus: HIV. As in humans, the virus attacks and weakens the cat’s immune system, making her more vulnerable to other viruses and infections. FIV+ cats mostly live very normal lives, and they can safely cohabitate with non-FIV cats. It’s recommended that FIV+ cats see the vet every 6 months (versus every 12 months for a “healthy” cat).  These adoprable panther siblings are currently in a loving foster home. Please apply to meet these sweetie pies today!  Adoption fee: $300 for the pair show less

Uno, Kira, Punky, and Dax are 4 littermates that were rescued in June 2021 by a very kind woman when they were about 10-12 weeks old.  They came from a feral colony that predominantly lived on the second floor of a recently condemned home. They were dirty and sick but received a lot of love and care to be become very sweet, healthy and socialized!  All kitteis are spayed or neuthered, up to date on vaccines, and tested negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV.  All they need now is you!  They would love to go home in pairs.  They are marked in 2 bonded pairs so they go home together, but the ycan go home with any of the other 3 siblings and don't have to go with the sibling they are marked bonded with.  All four absolutely love to play, whether that be with one another or with a person! Playing with them with toys was a big factor in socializing them in the beginning, and they carry the love for that to this day.  They will take a little bit to warm up to new people. If you have a treat and a toy, all it takes is about a half hour and they begin to warm up to someone new.  They all get along with, and very much enjoy, being around other cats. They've never been around kids or dogs so we aren't sure how they would do.  Due to their more shy nature they may do better in a home with older kids or a quieter home without kids.. Dax is completely solid black male, with no white patches anywhere. He is about 9 or so pounds as well.  He had a nasty cold when he was found. Unfortunately, his stuffy nose lingers to this day. He essentially has an on and off stuffy nose. It doesn't affect his wellbeing or quality of life. He is so shy but sooo sweet! He is the shyest of the 4 and took the longest to come out of his shell, but when he did, he just became the biggest love! He wants to be loved on and paid attention to constantly. He loves to cuddle and be with you.He also has a super loud purr!  He tolerates nail trims.  Apply to meet them today!   Adoption fee: $250 for a pair.   show less

*Goldie and Rod are a BONDED PAIR* Goldie and her bro bro, Rod, were rescued from a Southfield yard as part of a litter, in the summer of 2021. Goldie and Rod have been been in a loving foster home learning how to trust humans. Their foster mom has done a wonderful job of helping them feel safe and loved. They love to snuggle up on the bed with their foster mom at night and lounge on the couch with her during the day. Goldie and Rod also love to watch tv - especially bird tv! With the consistent love and patience of their foster mama, they have blossomed into increasingly confident and social kitties. They LOVE LOVE LOVE sitting by the open window, feeling the breeze on their whiskers. Rod loves to chirp and chatter. Goldie enjoys stealing Q-tips from her foster mama's stash; she plucks one out, throws it around and comes back to pluck more. Goldie also enjoys batting a ball back and forth with her foster mama on her favorite ball tower toy.  Goldie and Rod both go cuckoo for the squeeze treats and that has been one of the best ways to engage and build trust and adoration with them. They are searching for their FUREVER happy ending together and will be a great pair for a hooman that can provide devotion and patience for a couple of kitties that got a challenging start. Please apply to meet them today! Adoption fee: $250 for the pair. show less
