Just look at Mama Maybelle! What a beauty. We say she’s born with it, it’s certainly not Maybelline! My goodness is she a love bug - so if you like to snuggle, this is your girl! She even nuzzles into you with her nose. Maybelle is a 2-to-3-year-old bulldog mix who is a petite 45lbs; she’s a short mama (only comes up to my knee!). She's got the best radar ears and spots all over. She loves a good roll in the grass and playing fetch, although she might not always bring the toy back! She has a medium energy level. Maybelle has met her foster's dog-savvy cat, and they’re becoming fast friends. She plays gently and understands when the cat says playtime is over. She is always happy, happy, happy to see you! This mama sometimes gets a bit too excited, so we're working on teaching her not to jump up on people, and she's making great progress. This awesome girl loves to play with other dogs and humans too! Maybelle's puppies have been adopted, but she's still waiting to find someone who wants to give her the Southern hospitality she deserves. Maybelle made it up to New England to be with her foster family, so get your applications so that you can meet & adopt this mama! Please note: Our dogs are rescued from high-kill situations in the South and brought up to New England for foster and/or adoption. We are entirely volunteer-run and foster-based, so we do not have a physical facility, and we cannot guarantee a dog is housebroken or cat/kid-tested. Pre-approved adopters can arrange a meet and greet for dogs over 6 months old who are already in New England, and the adopter is expected to travel to the dog's location. Applications must be submitted at HarveysHope.org for consideration. We estimate it will be 1-2 weeks before you hear from one of our volunteers, depending on volume at the time of submission. Nala is ready to be the Queen of your household! This sweet puppy was found as a stray in Texas, and our vet believes she is a Collie/Catahoula mix and she would love a family who is active and understands that puppies need proper training and socialization to help them through this period. This 8-month-old pup is coming along really well in her training. She is now 99% housebroken and knows "sit," "stay," and "paw." She LOVES other dogs and does well with slow introductions with people... especially if they have a ball. She will play ball for hours. While she is still fearful of the crate, she will go in with a toy or treat. She rides well in the car and walks well on a leash. Nala currently weighs in at 37 pounds, and she's likely fully grown. She was adopted as a baby but returned due to no fault of her own - she entered the teething stage, and her adopters just weren't ready for a puppy.  Her foster says she's largely transitioned out of this mouthy stage and is doing a great job. We think this lovely pup would love to live in a home with dog-savvy older children as she has a high prey drive and will pounce on things she sees as prey. Due to this, she will not be placed with cats or small critters, and we think she'd do best in a single-family home with a fenced-in yard.  If this sweetheart seems like your gal, fill out an app today! Please note: Our dogs are rescued from high-kill situations in the South and brought up to New England for foster and/or adoption. Sinatra, like his namesake, is not afraid to express how he feels through song. This vocal two-year-old was rescued from Harris County, Texas, and is still hanging out with his Southern brethren while he undergoes heartworm treatment at our vet in South Carolina, but is ready to come up North to a foster home or foster-to-adopt. At about 50 lbs, he knows how to make an entrance and loves to run, so would be best for an active, experienced dog owner. We also think that Sinatra would do best as the only dog in a single-family home instead of an apartment so he has lots of space to play in and the freedom to be as vocal as he wants without disturbing the neighbors. Apply to foster or adopt Sinatra today if you want to join him on his melodious adventure! Please note: Our dogs are rescued from high-kill situations in the South and brought up to New England for foster and/or adoption. Hi!! My name is Stephanie. My puppies were all adopted and now it's my turn! I am a pittie mix, they think about 5-6 years old. It was evident I have been through a lot when Harvey's pulled me and this was not my first rodeo with babies, but it was my last! I haven't had many accidents in my kennel which my caretaker is very proud of. Also, I love food and being right by your side, especially if you have food. I would do best as the only pet in a house but love people. I've been through a lot, so I'd love an experienced adopter who can give me lots of love and patience. I am in New England, ready for my forever!    Please note: Our dogs are rescued from high-kill situations in the South and brought up to New England for foster and/or adoption. Talk about happy accidents! Usher and his siblings were an accidental litter, but we're pretty happy to welcome them to our crew, and we hope you will be too. Since they seem to be Cane Corso x Australian Shepard mixes, we imagine they will be big when fully grown and full of love and energy, but right now, they're all about the snuggles and love. And look at their gorgeous coloring! These pups were surrendered to HHAR due to what his owners thought was a neurological condition and were going to be put to sleep by them. After multiple vet visits, a new diet, vitamins, and clearing severe parasite infections, Usher seems to be all better! His tremors have been gone for a month now, and he is acting like a normal, happy puppy! His siblings also recovered and joined their furever families. Usher has come up to New England to be fostered, and he's ready for his fairytale ending! Look into my eyes! This slightly shy pup is about four months old, part of our latest litter of sweet southern mixes. His mama, Wilma almost gave birth at the shelter in Harris County, Texas, but luckily hung on until she got to our vet in Georgia where she gave birth to her beautiful babies. Each puppy in this troop is totally unique in its coloring- from blues to browns and creams to caramels. They should be about 50-70 pounds full grown and are currently being fostered in the Northeast, so if you're wanting one of these irresistible angels to join your family, get your application in today! Wilma's ears have the most personality we've ever seen! They go in every direction and match her expressive face. We rescued Wilma (fka Sammie) from Harris County, TX. She gave birth to one of our favorite, most colorful litters, the "W" litter who have almost all been adopted. At about four years old, and 35 lbs, Wilma is a cute pocket pittie with a lot of life left to live. She is a very easy, clean dog. Wilma gets along with the labs and will play with other dogs, but she isn’t high-energy, her foster says she's more "medium energy." She loves to snuggle up into her crate. This southern belle is sweet as pie! She loves treats, and while she may initially bark at strangers, once she is introduced to them, she loves them too! Wilma is looking for a sweet foster or adopter in the Northeast.  Please note: Our dogs are rescued from high-kill situations in the South and brought up to New England for foster and/or adoption. Yana is a super typical husky female. She's very silly, playful, and independent. Yana's best match would be with someone who's familiar with and enjoys the husky way of life; she's a lovely companion and loves to be brushed, but she's going to come when it suits her and finds repetitive obedience tasks to be tedious. Yana is a middle-of-the-road temperament with a low-moderate activity level. She's got the husky beauty and drama, but is not a noisy backtalker and does not carry on like a husky when bathed/groomed. Yana is perfectly happy doing what Yana wants, which is almost always something sweet and funny. She is pretty much a cat, without the random snotty behaviors some cats are prone to. 95% of the time, she just ignores other dogs; she simply prefers human company. She'll be most successful if she's placed as an only dog so she can be the center of attention. Yana has some food resource guarding behavior, so while she was indifferent to the cats, we wouldn't want to see them try to steal her food! She's got a household conversational vocabulary, but has very little interest in commands like sit, down, etc. She will take treats on occasion, but pair them with a command request and she's done taking rewards (see what we mean about her being kind of a cat?). She has a low level of energy and needs no specific exercise. Meander, dance, play bow, wander, she just kinda goes around doing Yana things until she's good and ready to come in. She'll usually come when she's called in, but sometimes I get the Husky stare and she's just not gonna do it. She's sort of an introvert type of dog and would likely do well with a single person or couple who has little interest in dog bars or big dog buddy gatherings, she's more of a walk in the woods kinda gal. She'll do best with a quiet, kind person who has some dog sense and is a confident handler. Yana walks well on a leash, she responds to leash pressure if she starts to pull, and she enjoys a walk. She'd be ok without a fenced yard but is not likely to ever be a compliant off-leash dog if no fence is present. It did take her quite a while to get comfortable enough to push things. Expect a honeymoon period where she's good as gold before she starts to push her new person's buttons to see what they're made of. She really is a very sweet dog, so husky people should really enjoy her. Yana is approx. 3 years old and about 60lb. She is a sweet, happy girl who was unfortunately heartworm positive. She has completed her treatment and is now waiting patiently for her forever home. Yana has completed a board and train program to work on manners and basic obedience. She will be in South Carolina with our boarding partner until she has an approved adopter or foster in New England. Please note: Our dogs are rescued from high-kill situations in the South and brought up to New England for foster and/or adoption.
