Grace was a local owner surrender who came to us pregnant. We all took bets and lost because she had TEN puppies! She is a pittie mix, approx 3 years old, and 45lb. She loves humans and is OK with other dogs with proper introductions. She does not like kitties. She has been around kids 5 and older. Unfortunately, Grace's previous owners did not keep her on heartworm prevention. She will be ready for her forever home mid to late April once she is scheduled for spay, receives her vaccinations and finishes heartworm treatment. You can apply to pre-adopt Grace today to make sure she comes home to you!! From her foster mom: "Grace is an itty bitty pocket pittie at 43 lbs. As she recovers from her litter of 10 puppies, the vet expects her to put on some much needed weight, but she will still be very petite for a pittie mix. Grace is an incredibly sweet pup, who loves her toys (especially ones that squeak) and snuggling on the couch. As she recovers from nursing 10 babies, the better she feels and the more energy she has for playing. Grace dislikes the cold and is only willing to do short walks in a sweater or jacket. She loves running in the backyard, though, where she can move fast enough to keep warm, and chasing toys inside. Grace almost never barks and is incredibly easy to handle. She patiently allows us to put on and take off her sweaters, lets us clean her paws every time we come back inside, and is okay with us moving her food or taking a toy why she is eating or playing. When she wants attention, she will sometimes get mouthy, but we are working on it, and she is very gentle with her mouth when she does use it. While we have not personally seen her with children, based on her patience and willingness to be handled, we think she will do well in a house with kids, as long as we and they continue to work on not mouthing things." Please note: We do not have a physical facility and the dogs are not located in Hudson, NH. We are a foster-based rescue and dogs can be located anywhere in New England. All adopters must be pre-approved to arrange a meet and greet, and the adopter is expected to travel to the dog's location. We do not transport once the dogs arrive in New England. Applications must be submitted at HarveysHope.org for consideration. We estimate it will be 1-2 weeks before you hear from one of our volunteers. Thank you!  show less

H O W I E ! Hello! I just turned 1.5 years old and I've been in and out of boarding since I was 4 months old. I am a Pit mix active boy, who went through a 4 week board and train program. I am back in another in home board and train program to learn some agility! I know basic commands and I worked on becoming a more confident pup. This will help me build the confidence I need to succeed in any environment, with any people and any other dogs. Howie’s adopter would need to also be confident, calm, work on socializing him, and start attending additional classes with him immediately. The rescue says I'm extremely silly, goofy and have an awesome personality once I start to trust. I can easily feed off energy in a room, so my handler needs to be aware of this and always work to keep my attention on them. I would NOT be a good fit for a family with children, small pets or someone who was not an experienced dog owner. Think we could be a dynamic duo? *Applications must be submitted at HarveysHope.org for consideration. *   Please note: We do not have a physical facility and the dogs are not located in Hudson, NH. Hello! My name is Joe Joe. I am a 2-3 year old long- haired chihuahua. Like my pal Smokey, I came from a hoarding situation and was used for breeding. I am a sweet guy. I weigh in at just 8 pounds. I want to like people but I am scared. I shake like a leaf and go into flight mode when you get too close but I relax if you hold me nice and tight and pet me. I wear a cone because I had surgery to correct a “cherry eye” but it came right back unfortunately once the stitches came out. It does not bother me and the vet does not want to redo the surgery unless it becomes medically necessary. If you are a patient, loving, experienced chi owner, I think I could someday be a great lap dog. I could share a home with Smokey or with another friendly, confident doggo. I promise that I am worth the effort.   JoeJoe was an owner surrender out of South Carolina where his owner had over 30 chihuahuas that she could no longer care for. He and his friend Smoky are very shy, timid lads who need a very patient adopter to help them come out of their shell. He is approx. 3 years old, 8lb and along haired chihuahua mix. He will NOT be placed in a home with young children due to undersocialization and unpredictable behavior. He is also not a first-time dog owner dog or one to be in an apartment setting. Once this little fella warms up to you, trusts you and understands humans aren't bad, he accepts and yearns for attention. He is in a foster home in NC learning how to coexist with larger dogs and be socialized. He is unable to be cat tested. He will only travel to New England for an approved adopter due to the amount of stress multiple moves will make on this little guy.   Please note: We do not have a physical facility and the dogs are not located in Hudson, NH. These sweet babies were part of a hoarding case in SC. There were over 27 dogs on the property who had never seen more than their four kennel walls their entire life. They are timid and shy, but warm up very quickly once they trust you. Kenny is in a board and train currently for socialization and basic manners. He is working on proper introductions with other dogs- but as of now until he completes training, he should be placed as an only dog. Due to being in boarding, they are unable to be cat or kid tested but quite frankly they would do best without young children or small animals they may have had to chase to eat while living outside. They are currently 5-7mo, projected to be medium size dogs, around 40-50lb when fully grown. The vet believes they are Fiest/terrier mixes. Kiwi is a sweet, cuddly 60 lbs, young pittie mix. She came to Harvey’s Hope in 2019, starved, at about 30 lbs. She has done so much healing since then to get her skin back to normal, GI tract on track and for her to trust humans again. Kiwi is one of our founder's favorite dogs and has spent time in her home. She is smart and loyal, loves playing in the water, and cuddling with her human(s). Kiwi has been around older children but will consider a cat a snack. She has been tested with dogs as small as 11lb and as large as 90lb and did great. Because Kiwi was nearly starved to death, food is a trigger for her, and she has struggled with resource guarding behavior. She was adopted and then returned because of her food/toy aggression. Kiwi has undergone an 8 week board-and- train program and is now clicker trained for taking toys and food. She has been doing phenomenal! Her next adopter would need to closely abide by the written instructions from the trainer and find a local trainer that can continue working with her. She is truly and amazing dog and would make someone so happy if they just give her a chance.   Please note: We do not have a physical facility and the dogs are not located in Hudson, NH. Mozart is the biggest cuddlebug and loves belly rubs. So sweet and loveable. He just melts when you hold him and gives so many kisses. When he met my dog, he was jealous at first but quickly warmed up to him and loves following him around giving him kisses. He is also so smart and quickly learned from my dog that if he sits like a good boy, he gets treats. Now he loves following me around the house to show me how good he can sit. He’s been great so far about only chewing his toys and has been sleeping through the night in his crate. He’s still working on his house training and just needs a little help. My dog has been helping to teach him. He’s a curious little guy and always trying to see what I’m doing. He sure has lots of love waiting to give to his forever family! - from his Foster mom   The Classical Music pups are approx. 4-5 mo old. They are listed by the vet as hound mixes but likely have some terrier mixed in. They will be medium to large sized dogs when fully grown. They are currently in a New England foster home without kids or cats.   Please note: We do not have a physical facility and the dogs are not located in Hudson, NH.
