Please read Almond's entire profile prior to applying. We're nuts over this litter!! These hound /terrier mixes were rescued from an abandoned house, but they aren't letting that hold them back. They are learning house manners and increasing their cuteness factor every day so that they get to go to their forever homes for proper training and a life of love. They'll be 3-4 months old when they're ready for adoption. We're encouraging you to get your applications in now for pre-approval because we're "almond" tempted to keep them for ourselves.   Please note: The information provided is based on our Southern partner's feedback we have been given as of the day of posting. HHAR does not guarantee the breed mix of any dog or the adult size of any puppy. Any breed(s) listed are the veterinarian’s opinion based on the information they have, usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a Super mutt! All dogs are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. Any dog adopted from HHAR will require professional training once adopted to become the best family member they can be. Our dogs are rescued from high-kill situations in the South and brought to New England for foster and/or adoption. We are entirely volunteer-run and foster-based, so we do not have a physical facility for you to visit or call, and we cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken, crate trained, or cat/kid-tested. To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must fill out an adoption application. To learn more about our shelterless rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website. Pre-approved adopters can arrange a meet and greet for dogs over 6 months old who are already in New England, and the adopter is expected to travel to the dog's location. Applications must be submitted for consideration. We estimate it can be up to a week before you hear from one of our volunteers, depending on the volume at the time of submission. Aurelia is a resilient lady who is ready to find her family! Her name means "the golden one" which is fitting because she has a heart of gold.  This 5-year-old pit mix is a funny girl who can be found shaking her toys around on the lawn. She loves, loves, loves food, and truly enjoys keeping humans company. Aurelia was abandoned in the woods with her baby, Plum, who was adopted. When we found her, Aurelia was completely emaciated and heartworm positive with serious gastric issues that have taken months of special food to try to fix due to the damage it did to her body. While she is still on special food, she's been recovering really well and is finally heartworm negative! She will need a patient adopter with a quiet home to make them her one and only, with a fenced yard. Add this golden mama to your home! Bambi is approximately 7 years old and is looking for her forever home. Just like her namesake, Bambi hasn't always had it easy, but she's really shown improvement in the time she's spent at a board & train program.  Her dream forever home would be with adults or older children (over 12) who will be gentle, loving, and patient with her, either with a submissive, smaller dog or only dog getting all of the loving (but no cats, please). She will need to work with a behaviorist in her new home, as she's incredibly submissive and clearly has been abused in the past, but she's a sweet girl who would make up for her shortcomings with lots of love! Her puppy, Flower, has already found her family in New England. A fenced in yard is a must for her. Can you help this mama and apply to foster or adopt her? Cadabra is a sweet, but shy little girl. She and her sister, Abra, were rescued in South Carolina and made their way to New England. Abra has been adopted but Cadabra is still looking for hers! Cadabra is a lab mix and is about 9 months old. She still has fun puppy time left! She is making great strides in her foster home and loves her dog sibling. She is slowly coming out of her shell, and playtime with other pups helps a bunch. She’ll need a very patient and loving forever family that’s willing to take their time showing her that she’s safe and loved. Cadabra will do best with another confident dog in the home to help her remember that she’s safe, and with children over 8 so she doesn’t get nervous while settling in. She is great with her crate and doing well with house training.  We don't want to jinx it, but we think she would make a family pretty happy, so get your applications in now to have a chance at bringing this magical pup home! Howie is an incredibly smart, high-energy dog who thrives when he is given a job. He has completed over a year of training and knows advanced obedience. He needs an experienced and active owner that can continue to challenge him mentally and physically. Howie has lots of energy that he can use to focus on learning some new skills, but he also needs a lot of physical activity. He does amazing with obedience and loves to learn. It takes him no time at all to learn something new, and we can imagine that he would excel in agility or obstacle courses. Howie also likes to have a good time and can be extremely silly, goofy, and has an awesome personality once he starts to trust. This 3 year-old Pitt/Hound mix is very food-driven and loves toys and playing fetch. While his trainer doesn't feel he's best suited for small children or small pets, she does think he would do best with older children/teens and a submissive yet confident female dog or as the only dog in the household. Howie has been exposed to horses and donkeys and has been completely fine with them. He loves hanging out with his people and does fine indoors. He will alert you to let you know if someone is in the yard, but once he’s told it's okay, he loves to get attention from them. While he loves to be outdoors, like all dogs, he should not be left unattended outside. If 5 ft fence was separating him from you or something he wants, he'd jump over it to get to you... he doesn’t want to go anywhere; he just wants to be with his people and occasionally explore. Because he craves this closeness, he needs a solid crate, as he will break out of the typical metal crate and airline crate in seconds if he wanted to. He also needs a fenced-in yard that is a minimum of 6ft and PVC/vinyl (he can climb). Howie needs to have an owner that will set boundaries for him and make sure they stick to them. He’s very easy to correct and loves any type of positive praise. Think we could be a dynamic duo? Apply today!   Please note: The information provided is based on our Southern partner's feedback we have been given as of the day of posting. Kiwi is a sweet, cuddly 60 lbs, young pittie mix. She came to Harvey’s Hope in 2019, starved, at about 30 lbs. She has done so much healing since then to get her skin back to normal, her GI tract on track, and for her to trust in humans again. Kiwi is one of our founder's favorite dogs and has spent time in her home. She is smart and loyal, loves playing in the water, and cuddling with her human(s). Kiwi has been around older children but will consider a cat a snack. She has been tested with dogs as small as 11lb and as large as 90lb and did great, but no food or toys can be within reach.  Because Kiwi was nearly starved to death, food is a trigger for her, and she has struggled with resource guarding behavior. She was adopted and then returned because of her food/toy aggression. Kiwi has undergone a board-and-train program and is now clicker-trained for taking toys and food. She has been doing phenomenal! Her next adopter would need to closely abide by the written instructions from the trainer and find a local trainer that can continue working with her. This three-year-old pup has lots of energy and needs a fenced-in yard. She is truly an amazing dog and would make someone so happy if they just give her a chance. Lululemon is a beautiful, sweet girl who was the mommy to the designer puppies. She is approximately 3-5 years old and a hound mix. Lulu was clearly a feral dog before coming to HHAR and has been in a board and train program to help her trust humans again. Initially, she was terrified of human touch; she would hide and defecate, and she was not afraid to dig out of a yard to leave for greener pastures that did not include humans. With being on the run for probably her entire life, she was unfortunately positive for heartworm disease and ehrlichia, both of which she has been treated for. She has made great strides in her board and train program and now is adjusting to live in her foster home! She loves to play bow, wag her tail, and stick her snout in the air to give sweet little "air kisses" when you call her beautiful. She is working on crate training, and loves the other dogs. Lulu follows them around and is more confident when she sees them interacting with people. Lululemon would love a nice, quiet home where she can be a couch potato. Loud noises aren't her favorite, and she prefers older children. She will require a fully fenced in yard, at a minimum of 6ft PVC/vinyl (non scalable), as she will still try to escape if she is spooked enough. Her adopter will need to be prepared to continue behavioral training with her and keep her on a leash at all times in the yard, as well as double leashed when in public situations.  Please note: Our dogs are rescued from high-kill situations in the South and brought up to New England for foster and/or adoption. Meet Marla! Please read Marla's entire profile prior to applying, which includes a link to the adoption application. Thank you! Mama Marla is going to make her furever family VERY happy. Her foster family here in New England just adores her! They say that she the biggest snuggle bug and is settling into their home very easily. Marla sleeps in the crate overnight for 8+ hours, without a peep. She gets along with everyone in their family, including their dogs and (older)kids, and snuggles all of them any chance she gets. She knows several basic commands and is extremely food motivated so would be easy to train. Marla has a great demeanor overall. While she seems completely house trained and hasn't had any accidents in her foster home, we never want to guarantee a dog is potty trained.  This hound/spaniel mix gave birth to the Field of Dreams Litter, and now it's her time to find her forever family! We rescued this sweet mama in rural Georgia and brought her up to New England at the end of April. We're loving her beautiful smile and those wonderful ears! The vet believes she is between 1-2 years old. She does have some working dog traits, so her ideal home will be someone who is active and has experience with like breeds. Because of her higher energy, while she loves older kids, we wouldn't want her to knock over little ones. Marla is spayed, UTD on vaccines, and she is ready to find a permanent family up East. Does this beautiful mama fit into your home?    Please note: The information provided is based on our Southern partner's feedback we have been given as of the day of posting. HHAR does not guarantee the breed mix of any dog or the adult size of any puppy. Mother Hubbard came to us after giving birth, completely emaciated and had to nurse 10 puppies! Her teeth are filed down and she is covered in scars, which we are assuming she was likely a bait and/or breeding dog. After she weaned her litter, the vet discovered a mammary tumor and heartworm disease. She has been treated and is loving life in her foster home. Despite all of this, this 8 year old, 60lb girl is learning to trust humans again. While she seeks affection from other dogs, she prefers a more docile furry friend. A calm, quiet household would be her preference so she can relax and be the house dog she deserves to be. She will take a little bit of time to warm up to her new home and family, but this gentle soul is worth the wait.      Please note: The information provided is based on our Southern partner's feedback we have been given as of the day of posting. HHAR does not guarantee the breed mix of any dog or adult size of any puppy. Any breed(s) listed are the veterinarian’s opinion based the information they have, usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a Super mutt! We are entirely volunteer-run and foster-based, so we do not have a physical facility for you to visit or call, and we cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken, crate trained, or cat/kid tested. To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must fill out an adoption application. To learn more about our shelterless rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website. Pre-approved adopters can arrange a meet and greet for dogs over 6 months old who already in New England, and the adopter is expected to travel to the dog's location. Applications must be submitted at HarveysHope.org for consideration. We estimate it can be up to a week before you hear from one of our volunteers, depending on volume at the time of submission. Meet ℝ𝕀𝔼𝕊𝕃𝕀ℕ𝔾! Like her namesake wine, she is a sweet girl. This two-year-old, 50lb wiggly girl hops right into the car for new experiences, especially long walks or hikes, and loves to fetch with any toy. ℝ𝕀𝔼𝕊𝕃𝕀ℕ𝔾 did a great job taking care of her ELEVEN pups in the wine pups litter, and now it’s her turn to find her furever home! Mama dogs are a special kind of K9 and this girl is no exception. ℝ𝕀𝔼𝕊𝕃𝕀ℕ𝔾 is so much fun and has lots of energy. She would love an active person or family. This mama is a love bug and makes friends everywhere she goes. She sleeps well in her crate and spends her days playing and chewing on her favorite Nylabones. Check out her funny expression while she itches her favorite scratch spot. This pup is entertaining! She is working on learning new commands in her foster home and is food and toy motivated.    ℝ𝕀𝔼𝕊𝕃𝕀ℕ𝔾 is kid and dog friendly, however, she is looking for a feline-free home. If you’ve got room for a young adult, ℝ𝕀𝔼𝕊𝕃𝕀ℕ𝔾 is your lady!    ℝ𝕀𝔼𝕊𝕃𝕀ℕ𝔾 is UTD on vaccines & preventatives, and she is spayed and microchipped.   Please note: The information provided is based on our Southern partner's feedback we have been given as of the day of posting. Meet Sky! She is a beautiful, approximately 8-month-old, 30 pound, pit-mix girl. This typical bubbly puppy is a good listener and wants to please. She knows her basic commands (sit, heel, come) and is easy to train when she's on her leash. Sky is housebroken, but she’s not a big fan of her crate. She still has lots of puppy energy and is looking for a forever home where she can get lots of exercise and play time, oh and cuddles too, LOTS of cuddles! Because she loves to jump around, we wouldn't want her to knock over the little ones, but she's a total sweetheart, so we bet she'd do great with older kids. She would be best in a home without other dogs since she is not very confident with others right now, so proper introductions help a bunch. Sky would benefit from an experienced adopter who can help her work through some separation anxiety issues; she's gotten better in her training program, but still needs love and help from new her family.  Please note: The information provided is based on our Southern partner's feedback we have been given as of the day of posting. TBone has stolen our hearts with that charming, award-winning smile. He's just an independent two-year-old pup who marches to the beat of his own drum and values playtime above all else. This 60-pound teen would do best in an active family with a tall fenced-in yard and another young dog who he could play with all day. While he'd be too much for cats, he LOVES playing with other dogs. He pulls initially on leashed walks but then settles in and is a confident walker. TBone soaks up attention and hasn't met a person he doesn't like! We originally rescued TBone from Harris County, TX, but this Pittie mix is hanging out in South Carolina where he runs and goofs around with the other pups all the time. We'd love to bring Tbone up North, so apply to foster or adopt him if you think this guy could join your crew! Yana is a super typical husky female. She's very silly, playful, and independent. Yana has a middle-of-the-road temperament with a low-moderate activity level. She's got the husky beauty and drama, but is not a noisy backtalker like your typical husky. Yana is perfectly happy doing what Yana wants, which is almost always something sweet and funny. Most of the time, she just ignores other dogs; she simply prefers human company. She thinks she's a lap dog and will be content to lay next to you on the couch. She'll be most successful if she's placed as an only dog so she can be the center of attention. Yana has some food resource guarding behavior, so while she was indifferent to the cats, we wouldn't want to see them try to steal her food!  She's got a household conversational vocabulary, but has very little interest in commands like sit, down, etc. She has a low level of energy and needs no specific exercise, but she does need to be in a home with an enclosed yard where she can do her thing until she's good and ready to come in. She'll usually come when she's called in, but sometimes she'll give you a Husky stare and she's just not gonna do it.  She would likely do well with a single person or couple who has little interest in dog bars or big dog buddy gatherings, and prefers quiet walks in the woods. She'll do best with a quiet, kind person who has some dog sense and is a confident handler. Yana walks well on a leash and enjoys her time out. Her new family should expect a honeymoon period where she's good as gold before she starts to push her new person's buttons to see what they're made of. She really is a very sweet dog, so husky people should really enjoy her. Yana is approx. 3 years old and about 65lb. She was heartworm positive, but has completed her treatment and is now waiting patiently for her forever home. Yana has completed a board and train program to work on manners and basic obedience, but will still need a fenced yard since she will not come back should she get loose. She will be in South Carolina with our boarding partner until she has an approved adopter or foster in New England.   Please note: The information provided is based on our Southern partner's feedback we have been given as of the day of posting.
