MaleDomestic Shorthair

About

This juicy pot-roast-bottomed boy comes with the most inquisitive face. Don't you agree? He's been cooped up with not enough space to run and kick up his heels to stay slim and trim. Tigger is a hunter extraordinaire. He likes to play games that satisfy his excitement for stalking, pouncing and catching pesky critters. And he'd so appreciate a big window in which to lounge and chatter at passing birds and squirrels. He's highly affectionate and loves to lasso your leg with frequent tail wraps. If you are looking for a one-and-only cat for your household, this marmalade boy would be good on his own. He likes other pets but they are not so fond of his beefy pouncing. Tigger would like to bounce into the arms of someone who loves to play as much as he does. He hopes you have a big toy box! Tigger was born in 2007. He would like to be your one and only pet and will give you all his love in return.

Shelter Description

Feline Friends Chicago is a, no kill, cat rescue organization serving Chicago. We do not have a physical site – we are completely foster-based. To meet any of our cats in the Feline Friends Chicago program, we arrange meetings between foster homes and potential adopters. Feline Friends is staffed 100% by volunteers, and is funded entirely by private donations. Feline Friends is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax deductible.

Our mission statement is: “to help alleviate the suffering of homeless pets in Chicago by rescuing, spaying/neutering, and responsibly placing as many animals as possible in permanent homes.

Feline Friends Chicago is a 100% foster-based program. The more foster homes we have, the more cats we can rescue. We are continually in need of foster homes, and would love to hear from you if you could provide a foster home. Contact us at felinefriendsorg@gmail.com. We respond to all emails promptly. If you have not received a reply within 24 hours, please check your spam folder.

Shelter Driving Directions

All cats in Feline Friends Chicago live in foster homes. As part of the adoption process, we have the potential adopter meet the available kitties by putting them directly in touch with the appropriate foster parent(s) to coordinate a day and time for a visit.

Areas Served

We serve Chicago and close in suburbs. We also rescue cats and kittens from downstate animal control facilities.

Adoption Instructions

The process for adopting a cat involves a couple of steps.

Step 1 Gather information
We gather information about the potential adopter's situation, what they are looking for, their current household and pets, etc.

Step 2 Cat “Interviews”
Next, we have the potential adopter meet the available kitties, by putting them directly in touch with the appropriate foster parent(s) to coordinate a day and time for a visit.

Step 3 Adoption application
Once the potential adopter has met the kitties, if they decide they want to do an adoption, they fill out our adoption application, which we then process. It takes a couple of days to process the application. Once the application has been processed and approved, the kitties are ready to go home.

Step 4 After the adoption
Once a person has adopted a cat, Feline Friends Chicago continues to stay in touch with the adopter to ensure a smooth transition for both the person and the cat. We remain available for questions and advice.

All of our kitties have been combo-tested for FIV/Feline Leukemia, spayed or neutered, vaccinated for distemper, microchipped, and dewormed. The adoption fee helps to offset the costs we incur to do all of these things.

Please keep in mind, we are a very small volunteer group and not set up to do out of state or long distance adoptions. If you live out of the Chicago area, we encourage you to look at your local shelters where there are wonderful animals waiting for homes.
