In order to alleviate the need to bring an animal into the shelter environment, The Anti-Cruelty Society has developed the new Home-to-Home Shelter Bypass service to help people find new accommodations for their pets privately. PLEASE REFER TO THE CONTACT INFORMATION IN THE PROFILE BELOW TO INQUIRE ABOUT ADOPTING.Dixie is a sweet, playful Italian Greyhound mix with a heart of gold and endless love to give. Although she's 7 years old, she's convinced she's still a puppy - she has tons of energy and loves learning new tricks (she can do everything from sit, to dance, to stick ‘em up - bang, and more). While she's got energy, she's also big on snuggling, and her favorite thing to do is curl up with you on the couch to watch TV or take a nap (she's snuggling level pro). She's a ball of love who just wants to show you how much she cares about you!Dixie is up-to-date on all vaccines, is microchipped, and is housebroken. Unfortunately, with our young daughter becoming mobile, it was too overwhelming for her, and too difficult for us to maintain a constant eye on their interaction. Dixie craves attention, and wants to be the center of your world, so it's best if she's the only dog in the house, with no small children. We hope to find Dixie a new home with a family who will love her the way that we do. PLEASE REFER TO THE CONTACT INFORMATION IN THE PROFILE BELOW TO INQUIRE ABOUT ADOPTING.Whenever I try to explain Maggie to others, I always say that she must have been a dog in her past life. She comes when you call her name, she wants to play all the time, and she loves attention. The red dot laser, and shoe laces are her favorite toys. Maggie lived with another female cat the first 2 years that I had her. They constantly played, licked each other, and cuddled together. I've never seen her be aggressive towards other animals. She tends to be timid towards other animals and people these days-- probably because I haven't exposed her to many other cats or dogs. She's not aggressive at all, though. I trained her as a kitten to be very submissive and non-aggressive. She's never bitten myself, my roommates, the doctor, strangers, or anyone. Take vet visits, for instance. She never hisses or bites the doctors. Instead, she will just try to hide and run out of their arms. And then even after that, she's rubbing her body on their legs like nothing happened. She just likes good energy. If she's insecure when visiting a new place (like being boarded or my parent's house) she will just hide until she gets comfortable, then she's her normal self. She hasn't been around any children for years. Though with knowing her behavior, her training, and her past with other animals and strangers, I can confidently say that she will not be aggressive towards children, even if they grab her tail or poke her (I do it all the time when playing with her).So far, all vet visits have come back with healthy lab results. Her only condition, which must be genetic, is that she had a lot of gingivitis, and some diseased teeth that had to be pulled. Many of her teeth are gone now, so I only feed her wet food. (Her favorite is the 3oz Purina wet food with gravy). I don't recommend feeding her solid food because she'll swallow it whole and that won't digest well. She may need more dental work in the future if she gets more gingivitis. Some food additives to help keep teeth clean can keep the gingivitis at bay.Maggie is litter box trained. Even when taking her to a family member's house for a weekend and bringing the litter dome, if I show her where it is and keep her in the same room as it for an hour, she has never had any "accidents" outside of the litter box.I am putting Maggie up for adoption for a couple reasons: I'm not home that often to give her the attention she looks for so I feel awful that she's always home alone most of the day without a playmate, and I cannot afford to take care of her anymore. I would rather try to set her up for a home-to-home adoption instead of give her up at a shelter. I have had Marty since he was a kitten, and he has never been exposed to children, however based on his general temperament I can assume that he would do better with older children who can respect his boundaries. He mostly loves to nap and hang out but can also be very active when he plays- if he joins a household with another cat, he would probably be happiest with one that also loves to play! Marty has gotten along with other cats in the past, including a younger cat he lived with for three years. Unfortunately we have decided that having to keep him separated from our other cat is not giving Marty the space or attention he needs to be happy. She was adopted from The Anti-Cruelty Society on May 17, 2018. She is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, already housetrained and does not have any health issues. Miso is the sweetest dog. She loves people and also she is the perfect dog for older kids. She is a medium sized dog and still has a lot of her puppy behavior so Miso might be too much for small children. She loves other dogs and she currently shares her space with one cat but she's never been around other cats. I'm currently working two jobs and I do not have the time to give Miso what she deserves. He's a big, clumsy, cuddly meathead of a dog. He's a great walking partner and loves being outside. Rambo has attended boot camp and knows basic commands, and he is very food motivated. He is crate trained, house trained and loves looking out the front window. Rambo is a strong boy on a leash and would love a fenced yard! Due to his strength, size and occasional clumsiness Rambo would do best in a home with older children.Rambo would do best in a home with an experienced owner and would need to be the only pet in the home. Though he currently lives with three cats (he is kept separate from them) and three dogs (all females) he is not fond of many other dogs and would like do best as the only pet in the home. Rambo is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and is healthy with no current medications.
