About Hanna

Introducing Hanna. Miss Hanna is a 2 year old Shepherd mix who somehow managed to find herself at Memphis Animal Services. It always baffles us as to how these amazing dogs end up in those situations, but they do time and time again. Hanna was heartworm positive when rescued her a few months ago but has since completed treatment. She is bound to be someone's best friend - she loves to play with other dogs and adores attention and affection from her human. Her infectious smile is sure to brighten up your bad days. Hanna's adoption fee is $500 and will include her spay surgery, all up to date shots, heartworm treatment, microchip, deworming, health certificate and transportation from Memphis to your area upon adoption. You may find our adoption application at www.wilsonanimalrescue.com/adopt. Fill that out and we are happy to answer any questions you have about Hanna.

One Monday afternoon we received an email from Memphis Animal Services with the plea to rescue on a dog named Elm. His medical records listed his injuries and our hearts sank. Fractured ribs, fractured leg, fractured jaw, puncture wounds, injuries in varying stages of healing; it all told the story of a dog who had suffered intentional injuries at the hands of a person. But what stuck out the most on his records were the vets notes “very sweet”. I opened the attachment with the kennel card and saw Elm's picture, the sweet soft eyed look from this “very sweet” dog. How could a dog who had suffered so badly seem to be smiling? In spite of the pain and unfairness of it all, Elm seemed to be happy. It reminded me of two words that a special friend shares with us - Choose Joy. Two simple words that speak volumes. The words that not only hang on the wall in her home, she lives by them and in doing so, reminds us that there are choices in how we respond to what life hands us. As is the case with each dog, we needed a foster and a spot at the vet and somehow, those came together very quickly and he was at our vet by 10 the next morning. He has captured the hearts of everyone he’s met along the way. After blood work, leg surgery, antibiotics and lots of rest his surgery is behind him and he’s healing from his injuries in the most loving foster home. There is no doubt that Elm has seen the worst people have to offer, and yet he has shown us the best of what dogs have to offer. His love is effortless and unconditional, a true example of the beauty we get to see in rescue. Elm is about 10 months old, he lives in a foster home with other dogs and a 5 year old little girl. He is darn near perfect in every way and deserves the best forever home. If that may be you- please complete an application at www.wilsonanimalrescue.com/adopt. Elm is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated and dewormer. Elm's adoption fee is $500 and includes transport from Memphis to your area via a professional rescue transport. show less

Introducing Nellie! We first met Nellie on a trip to a small rural shelter outside of Memphis. She was on a back row, bottom kennel, easy to miss, but hard to forget once we met her. This sweet girls eyes just begged us to get her. We wracked our minds for foster who could help get this dog out of what is one of the worst shelters in our area. We were overjoyed when one of our current fosters said she could help. Her foster has four other dogs, and another one of our dogs who is recovering from surgery. We knew that a dog would have to be able to get along with lots of personalities, and children if this home was going to work for her. Which is exactly what happened. Nellie went from the shelter to her foster home and never missed a beat. She fit in seamlessly and his adored by everyone who meets her, including her youngest foster momma, a five-year-old little girl. Nellie has been a wonderful house guest. We believe she is about 2 1/2 years old, and appears to be some sort of a low rider mix. Perhaps basset boxer mix. She’s heartworm negative, spayed, healthy and ready to find her forever home. Nellie is a shining example of all the gems that can be found in your local shelter and we are so proud to have her. We have no doubt she will be a wonderful loving family pet for the lucky adopter. show less
