Say Hello to sweet little Andromeda; or Andy for short! This pretty little lady is a 3 year old white Chihuahua, with the temperament of a gentle soul. Andy already lives in a foster home with other dogs, large and small, with no issues regarding size, or behavior. This is already helping her to socialize, and acclimate to possibility of finding a home with other dogs, already in place....but she would be more than content to be spoiled as an only-dog as well! That being said, Andy also has the super loving and affectionate side, chihuahuas tend to have, towards their humans... She loves to lay near you, get belly and back rubs, and will even burrow down in covers, if there is a blanket near by, to cover the both of you. Andy doesn't bark, is house broken, likes being outside in the yard, yet is a perfect sized dog to be in an apartment as well. She will get excited to greet you at the door, when you come home, and give kisses just as an extra bonus! What would benefit her most, is a person, or owners who make the time to dote on her, and spoil her with outings, attention, and tons of reassurance and affection. Andy will most assuredly return the favor, 200%! She is still so young, and deserves to find a forever home to spend the rest of her life in warm, and secure comfort! With her promise of being such a well mannered, pleasant, and devoted dog, Andromeda is sure to win hearts over, and secure her spot in the arms of a wonderful home! Could it be yours? Meet Bighetti AKA "Big Head", named after the hilarious character from the HBO series Silicon Valley! This young happy-go-lucky pup has a very joyful personality and easily draws people to him with his adorable smile. He is so handsome with his giant head, black face mask, white socks, and black and white freckles. For having a rough start on the streets of Dallas, Bighetti bears no grudges. He was found as an injured stray, had knee repair surgery, and is completely healed and ready to play! He is excellent in his kennel as he had to spend a lot of time in it while he healed from his surgery, and goes in on command. He loves belly rubs and giving kisses! Big Head would love another big dog to play with! He doesn't know his own size, and has put on quite a bit of weight since being rescued, currently weighing in at 85 pounds! (But he thinks he's a lap dog.) He has been socialized in a home with other dogs and children. He knows sit and walks loose-leash. He would do well in any size home with any size family, with or without fur siblings. Could you be the lucky one who Big Head shares his big heart and goofy personality with? Apply to adopt Bighetti today! All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. Bighetti's adoption fee is $100. Bjorn Ironside is a spunky and fun loving young dog that has a zest for life and is house and crate trained, dog, cat, kid and all human friendly, and has even befriended his neighboring squirrels who he prefers watching to chasing. He's a medium sized dog a 52lbs, but is pretty low to the ground so he appears bigger than he is in pictures. He has tiny speckled ears and the most adorable double chin you've ever seen. He's already growing lots of soft, white fur on his face, and after spending time with him you can quickly see how handsome he is. Bjorn loves, loves, playing and toys, and playing with toys, and running and jumping and doing all of those fun things young dogs do. He is incredibly sweet and gentle, but he is still working on his manners. He is a rough and tumble player with dogs and loves to wrestle and run so active dog buddies are on his list of joys, but without them he happily self entertains and plays alone or with toys. He is cat friendly but does not seem to see cats as different than his dog buddies so cats that will set boundaries with him do better than those that flee or let him get away with too much. Bjorn knows how to sit, wait and stay but like most young, smart dogs he sometimes is selective on deploying this knowledge. He absolutely loves mental and physical tasks and being involved in daily activities. He's learned to love helping with laundry at his foster home and if included in activities is happy to learn what you'd like him to do. He's a willful but wickedly smart boy, with a lot of energy and tons of lovable attention to give. Bjorn is a dog that is constantly happy and ready for fun. Active humans would be ideal as he's always up for adventure, although he does know how to relax and widow gaze or lay quietly near you on the floor or his bed while you are engaged in sedentary activity. Meet the adorably affectionate Bruce! He is a five-year-old lab mix and despite his size, loves being a lap dog! He was rescued but now is in a loving foster home getting lots of play time as he waits for the perfect family to scoop him up. Bruce's foster dad says he is the very definition of play hard, nap hard. This cuddly pup loves playing fetch and throwing his toys around, but snoozes hard when it's time to relax. Bruce likes to cuddle up with his humans after play time and get lots of snuggles, ear scratches, and belly rubs. An ideal home for him would be one with space. He loves to shake his toys around and romp and play, so he would love a yard or at least daily outings to explore and play. Bruce is learning how to walk on a leash without pulling and is crate trained and house trained. He can also be left out all day and he knows that toys are toys, so he doesn't destroy other loose items in the house. He is one smart pup! This always-affectionate guy is deserving of the perfect furever home. Could it be with you? Apply to adopt Bruce today! Are you looking for a puppy who will love you just the way you are? Look no further than the studly BRUNO MARS! This 7-week-old pit mix doesn't need jewelry shining so bright or strawberry champagne all night-he just needs a forever home! For little Bruno Mars, 24-karat magic lies in his own army of snuggly squeaky toys and a good cuddle on the couch! Although he's still a puppy, Bruno Mars is already crate-trained! He also goes to the bathroom outside or on his puppy pads. He's a pretty quick study in pleasing his people. After all, he just wants to give you what you like! Ideally, Bruno Mars will find an active family that will take him for walks or will help him play in the backyard. This boy is too hot to stay still for long! He does enjoy the occasional lazy day, though. If you feel like you've been locked out of heaven for too long, then you need some Bruno Mars in your life. Apply to adopt this little treasure today! Meet Calliope! Calliope is a black domestic medium hair kitten who is looking for her new fur-ever home! Calliope is your average cuddly kitten! She has a high energy level and after her rescue and spending time growing with her foster family, she is ready for a full-time family to help expel some of this energy! Calliope should be a self-sufficient kitten as she is very capable of entertaining herself; she loves little mice or balls that she can toss up and chase after! She does great with her litter box (no accidents!) and scratching posts. Calliope would do great in any loving family and would make a great solo companion or another furry friend for any present pets - she is good with cats (loves to wrestle with her littermates), but the nature of her relationship with dogs is unestablished at this time. If you would like to get to know this cute black kitten Calliope, what are you waiting for!? Please apply to adopt today! Meet Camden, one of the cutest faces you have ever laid your eyes on! This little fella is around 1 year old, and believed to be a Chihuahua mix. You will notice his bright eyes, shiny coat, and eager-to-please demeanor right away. It's hard to believe sweet Camden had a 'ruff" start to his short life, being chained up outside, with a few injuries, including a broken leg! That has not hindered his happy disposition! Camden is full of puppy energy, and playfulness... going for walks on his leash nicely, rounding up toys to chew and play with, playing with dogs and people who will give him ALL the attention his little wiggly body can handle! His foster mom notes that one of his favorite attention-getting antics is to throw himself on his back, and squirm about! A patient and loving home, possibly with older kids, with or with out dogs, will suit Camden best. Indoor playtime, mixed with outdoor activity in a fenced yard to help Camden expend some of his energy would be fantastic for him. His foster mom also believes that he is a quick learner... already crating quietly, and is at the end of his potty training. What more could you ask for in a young pup? Camden is a star in his own right... quirky, fun-loving, likes to go for swims, is a smart cookie, and can provide entertainment and laugher just by being his silly self! If he sounds like the perfect match for you, feel free to contact DPA and make Camden's "furever-after" dreams come true! Camden is available for pre-adoption or completing their foster care with their adopter, as he is undergoing medical treatment. Say, Hi! to Casha! Casha is a pitbull, around 2years old, give or take. She was found as a stray, but luckily fell i to DPA's lap, and is thriving in her current foster home. Casha's foster home is a great environment for her to get acclimated to other dogs, and new surroundings. Her fur sublings are a Husky, Pit Bull, and 6lb Chihuahua! That being said, she still needs patience, time, and slow, proper introductions when it comes to meeting other pets, whether it's in an outdoor or indoor setting. A dog park may not be suitable for Casha just yet. Her temperment is as gentle, sweet and happy as can be. She is house trained, walks on leash, corrects with commands, and gets most excited when it comes to being fed! "Breakfast time! Dinner time! Treat time! Oh my! " This girl is described by her foster mom as being overjoyed when it comes to being fed! She loves to go onwalks, and bounce around-literally-in her secure backyard. Inside the home Casha is still figuring out how to play with doggie toys, and squeaker toys. Casha's ideal "furever home" could be with an experienced owner,(or owners) who has time to dedicate to her, educate themselves, and give the best possible home, a dog could ever wish for! Meet Chance. This guy is a white pit bull mix. He was left extremely emaciated on the doorstep of DAS and Dallas Pets Alive swooped in to give this boy some much needed loving and saved his life in the process. Even though he was severely neglected in his past, you would never know it, other than his weight. He is super affectionate towards humans and he likes to be around people at all times, following you around everywhere. He is sweet natured and very playful. He gives everything to his humans. He is 100% loyal to you and just asks that you love him unconditionally in return. He has the sweetest face and is already super adorable. His foster parents are working hard with the vet and resources from DPA to get him back to a healthy weight. He is getting healthier each and every day. He is currently working on housetraining, but he is very smart and is getting the hang of it. He gets along amazingly with other dogs. He obeys commands and knows "sit and "come. He is even willing to learn more if you'd be willing to teach him. He would do great in pretty much any household, whether you're an active family who likes to take adventures or a laid-back family that loves to stay at home and spend time with loved ones. Was it fate that he got this particular name? I think it was. He really does deserve a second chance and we hope that you'll give it to him. Please don't hesitate to apply to adopt this fella today! You'd make him eternally happy and in return he'd love you with all his heart! Chance is available for pre-adoption only at this time, as he is heartworm positive. Upon first glance, CJ almost looks like a cute stuffed animal! With his black-button-eyes, and sooooft fluffy fur, he may fool you! But this old man is an adorable 13year old Chihuahua-Terrier Mix. Sadly, CJ was an owner surrender, but DPA was willing to scoop him up, and he is in a foster home, waiting patiently for his furever home! As expected, CJ prefers a quiet home, with no children, low-to-very little activity, and likes to nap alot. He is house broken, can walk on a leash, and isn't too crazy about other pet company, whether it's a dog or cat... CJ is sweet on his humans, like to cuddle, and may cry for a second once he goes into his crate, but quiets down quickly. He may occasionally play with a toy or two, but other than that, you won't really hear a peep or bark from this senior citizen. CJ is as irresistible as can be, and is beyond deserving of a second-chance home. Hi! My name is Cooper and I am a Treeing Walker Coonhound. I'm not sure what that means but I have been one for all three years of my life. I have to admit that I am very good looking, especially my eyes. I can get all kinds of attention when I turn and look at you with them. My sad eyes make me so happy! I am currently enrolled in school. It is very exhausting but I am learning so many new things like how to walk perfectly on a leash, and some tricks as well! I am so well-mannered. I do however love to bark at the activity out the windows at times - but we are working on that. Can't blame the hound in me! I think that comes in my DNA....but I guess I will have to adjust. I love treats, my favorite times are playing with my rope toys. I'm really strong and sometimes I win! And I also love sitting with my head in a lap and dreaming of my fun filled days. Even though English is my second language, I am learning new words all the time. I know sit, lie down, down, come, back, hush, Good boy......and no. I really try to do everything right because I like to make my family happy. I love all my dog brothers and sisters and I really would like to be able to run and explore, but I have no place to do that where I am living now. Did you know that there are rabbits that love to be chased? Sigh! Maybe you need a Treeing Walker Coonhound to be your friend and companion. I am the most excellent one around! show less

This beautiful butterscotchy-brown sweetie is named Daisie! Just like the flower, this girl is pure simple happiness! Believed to be a stray, Daisie was lucky to have DPA rescue her, and set her up in a proper foster home. She is the perfect size dog for most living situations; abboxer-pittie mix, perfectly in between 35-45 lbs. She is training to walk on her leash, and already see's her crate as a safe spot, to lay and relax. Despite Daisie's unknown past she has been soaking up the "domestic" life- learning what is and is NOT a doggy chew toy, sniffing around the yard and enjoying the affection of actual people! She is also being introduced to other dogs, and so far doing quite well! Her favorite activity so far, is to receive affection from her owners, and relishing every pet, kiss, and snuggle she is shown! One fun characteristic Daisie has is that when she wags her tail, her entire body almost can't keep up and she almost trips! Hilarious! If your looking for a young, smart, lovable dog look no further! This pretty girl deserves to be shown what a great home life is, with a single owner, or family who is ready to nuture her, keep her active, and social, but most of all what it's like to be loved, unconditionally, in a healthy happy "furever home"! Meet Digby! He's an older chihuahua pup with a very sweet and snuggly personality. He was rescued after his owner gave him up, and now he's in a great foster home getting the love he deserves while he waits for his forever family! Digby will make a wonderful companion to whoever adopts him. He's a bit shy at first but once he trusts someone, he really comes out of his shell and wants to be near them all the time. In fact, he loves hanging out on the couch to watch TV and enjoys snuggling with his people under the covers! But he does understand the importance of exercise - he loves short, daily walks! Digby gets along with other pups and cats and is thriving with his foster family's pack. But he can be particular about larger dog friends. Digby would probably love a furry friend or two that are about his size, and he's fine with kitties, too. Digby prefers women and would do best in a home without children. Digby does well on a leash and is crate and house trained. He's the perfect pocket-sized pup! This little guy deserves the perfect forever home. Could it be with you? Apply to adopt Digby today! Feisty and fashion-forward, DONATELLA is prepared to walk right off the runway and into your heart! Donatella might've had a rough start in life, but that hasn't dissuaded her from chasing her dreams! Just like her Versace namesake, this playful, 2-year-old terrier mix is a real go-getter-and what she wants more than anything is a forever home to call her own! Donatella is active, affectionate, and always up for a new adventure-especially if she can accessorize with a cute carrier, leash, or harness! Donatella's foster parent says she walks well on a leash. And, at only 9 pounds, this stylish little lady is the perfect shopping companion! This wonderful white fluff ball is eager to please and well on her way to being fully house trained. Donatella does well with other dogs, but her ideal home is one in which she can be treated as the precious princess she is. Meet Dude. He is a 1 1/2 yr old German Shepherd/Bully mix. As you will notice he has a unique soft short hair coat, with gold and orange flecks in it, along with his semi-floppy ears to match his cute face! Dude is slowly learning the ways of being a domestic pet in his current foster home. For example, he is getting along well with his other foster doggy siblings, after slow introductions, patience, and showing him how to co-exist with other pets, in the house. Dude is a great mix of semi-active/semi-laid back dog. He likes going for walks, but needs a strong hand to help guide him, give him commands, and control him when other dogs are passing by. He loves to run in the back yard, and plays with every toy he can find whether it's a rope toy, nylon bones, or Kongs... Yet, if there is a cold, or rainy day, Dude is more than content to lay around the house, curl up next to you, in a nice warm ball, (sometimes in your lap!) and just chill out. When he yawns, there is even a cute squeaky noise that accompanies it! Mostly Dude aims to be loved, doted on, and played with. He would do best in a home with an experienced dog owner, (or owners) who is patient, secure, comfortable with giving commands, will keep Dude physically and mentally stimulated, and introduces socializing further down the road, to keep Dude well rounded. If Dude sounds like he is a perfect match for you, please contact DPA for more information on making his happily-forever-after come true! Elvis is a short-haired, gray tabby cat who's never met a stranger! He was a stray cat in Oak Cliff before deciding he needed a forever home, which he is so patiently waiting for. If you're looking for an aloof, standoffish cat, Elvis is not your boy - Elvis loves love! He wants nothing more than to be together and likes any activity as long as he's with someone he loves, but he's calm and quiet when he needs to be. He is curious and engaged with the small resident canine in his foster home. Now that he is adjusting to life as a pet, he enjoys athletic, active play with toys. He is a door-darter and will need to be in a home that can manage that. He's vocal around mealtimes but is polite otherwise. His foster home thinks he's a purrfect cat and has successfully won over cat-lovers and non-cat lovers alike with his charming personality. He's a petite boy at around 9 lbs, but he's full of character. Elvis is available for pre-adopt only at this time as he/she is undergoing medical treatment, but applications can still be completed. Applications for pre-adopt are processed in the order they are received. All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. Meet Fynn! He is a 1-2-year-old Lab/Terrier Mix with brown and white brindle fur. He was found as a stray with a broken leg and DPA swooped in to save his life. A little bit about this fella... He absolutely loves affection... kisses are the best! He's just a total love bug! Fynn is great with other dogs and even kids. He just loves interacting with other beings at every available opportunity. He is house trained, crate trained and walks great on a leash. Fynn is a very intelligent pup who already knows the command "sit and his foster parent is currently teaching him the commands "lay and "down. This boy loves to fetch also. Just throw a ball or a frisbee and he's off to retrieve it for you. He loves any toy that you can think of... chew toys, squeaking ones, balls. If you are busy, Fynn will be sure to amuse himself with toys laying around. But the most enjoyable part of his day is playing with us humans and other doggie pals. A great home would be with anybody that is active because he loves long walks. It's Fynn's perfect day... A combo of exercising and sight seeing. Also, if you have another dog in your family that is around his size, that would be an added bonus... because who doesn't want to have a best friend? Hello world! My name is Gem, and it certainly fits - there's no other pup out there just like me! From my puppy-dog eyes and little white beard to my tail that never stops wagging, every ounce of my pittie mix body just wants to love and be loved. I have a little limp, but that doesn't stop me at all when I'm running around with other dogs, big or small! I am learning to love my crate, and I already know how to let my humans know when I have to go outside to do my business! My ideal day centers around one thing: you. I love to be near you and see what you're up to (and if you want to pet me while you're at it, I certainly won't complain!) And I love other dogs, too! While it would be great to have a fur sibling, I'll be just fine on my own, as long as I'm able to get some exercise every day. And if you have kids, even better! I'm not a big fan of cats, though, so a home without any feline buddies would be best. Apply so you can meet me, and see just how much of a "gem" I am! Well, hi there y'all! I'm Hattie Mae. As you can probably tell from my name, I'm just a sweet lil southern bell. And just like a true southern bell, I have always depended on the kindness of strangers. When I found myself livin on the street, some sweet gentleman found me and brought me to the shelter. He actually cried when he dropped he off and that's when Dallas Pets Alive came in. Now I am learning to be a true lady and working on my manners in my foster home. I already know how to walk on a leash, potty outside, go into my kennel, sit, lay down, and shake. I do declare, I think that's pretty impressive! Don't you? After all, I am only about 10 months old, and still have quite a bit of puppy energy. But I do try my best to be a good hostess and not be rude. A lady never has to beg, so hopefully you'll see how wonderful I am all on your own. Until then, I'll be playin hard-to-get and will wait for your call or email. <3 Hattie Mae All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. Besides being a looker (check out that cinnamon coat!) Honey has a lot to offer her forever family. Here are a few things you need to know about Honey before you fall in love with her! Honey needs an active family that will take her on ALL the walks, as well as to dog parks and doggie day care. She has lots of energy and tends to bounce like Tigger when she is excited! After her play-filled day, she will be ready to snuggle with you on the couch and check out the latest episodes of your favorite shows. Honey is house-trained and crate-trained (YAY!) and while she hasn't quite warmed up to cats, she loves to be around other dogs! Her ideal home would have another pup or two for her to bond and play with. Honey loves her humans and wants to be around them all the time, but she is currently working through some shyness with new people and being more comfortable on a leash. Just being patient and kind to Honey will help bring her out of her shell and trust the world is a safe place. One more thing... QUIRK ALERT: Honey has been known to fall asleep standing up. Meet affectionate Isaac. We thought she was a boy until we had her "neutered and found out she was a girl. Since she already knew her name, we kept it. She is a 5-month-old gray and white striped cat who was born in our garage. The mother is a stray who adopted us. Isaac has been handled by adults and grandchildren since she was 4 weeks old. She has been spayed and had all her shots. Isaac is quieter than her sister. Once she gets used to you she loves to be held and petted. She purrs constantly. She loves to play, run and be silly - especially with her sister. She enjoys having her back scratched first thing in the morning. She gets along with dogs (we have 3 goldens) and other cats as well as people. Isaac is litterbox trained. She has the run of the house during the day and stays in the bedroom/bathroom at night. This kitten needs a loving home. She would be a great companion for anyone! Like a lot of the houses her namesake sees, this special pup was a little worse for the wear when she entered the Dallas Pets Alive program-but it turns out she was just a bit of a fixer-upper, because JOANNA "JOJO GAINES is a survivor who has healed, trained, and is ready for her forever home! As a puppy, this sweet lady suffered from distemper-and, against all odds, she fought back and made a full recovery. Having won her battle with a tough canine illness, JoJo is grateful for every day she gets! She absolutely LOVES playing with other dogs and kids-whether it's a good game of tug-of-war with a rope toy or a romp around the yard with some tennis balls. She's worked through her puppy stage, though. Mostly, this American bulldog mix just wants to curl up on the couch and snuggle! She's a big girl, but JoJo is very aware of her size. She enjoys serving her humans as footrest, armrest, pillow, and fellow spoon. It works out nicely, too, because JoJo has the softest coat for snuggling! JoJo is completely crate- and potty-trained, and she has mastered "sit. She's just waiting for a forever family who can help her get the hang of "fetch! Because she survived distemper, JoJo can exhibit tremors when she's stressed. For this reason, a loving family that doesn't need a very active dog would be the ideal home for JoJo. She just wants to love, snuggle, and make the most of the moments she's earned! She's a bit of a fixer-upper, but if you keep your eye on the beauty of this sweet soul, JOJO will make the perfect addition to your home. If you want to help this girl write the next chapter of her healthy life, apply to adopt JOJO today! Hi everyone! My name is Kuzco, and I'm a handsome pocket pittie with the goofiest head-to-body size ratio you'll ever see! My foster mom says I'm a sweet, gentle, happy, and playful boy with floppy, expressive ears - so you'll always have an idea what I'm thinking! Oh and don't forget about my tail - it's ALWAYS wagging (even at the vet!). And of course, I have a winning smile to match. So how do I spend my time? Well, lately I've been working on learning my manners. And boy, have I been learning a lot! I'm super food-motivated, so it hasn't been too difficult for me to learn basic commands like "sit," "stay," and "roll over." I'm still working on curbing some of the behavior I've learned my foster mom doesn't want me to do, like jumping on people or checking out the trash (so many fun smells in there!) I'm also learning to love my crate. Sometimes I'm not too thrilled about having to go in, but once I'm in there, I'm good. I've been known to sleep in, so you don't have to worry about me waking you up at the crack of dawn! Now let me tell you about some of my favorite things in life. I'll start off with the first: you! I just love being around you and giving you kisses. Second, I love other dogs! In fact, one of my favorite activities is playing with my 100+ lb. fur sibling in the backyard. Oh, and how could I forget toys? I love stuffed animals, and am learning to play fetch (I got the whole "get the ball" part down, but am still working on bringing it back to you. Although it's fun to watch you play fetch, too!) So what's my ideal home? I'm pretty flexible. I'd love a backyard where I could run around on my own or with other dogs, but if I don't have that, I'm more than happy to hang out at the dog park with all my doggie friends! And while I love to run around and play, I'm also pretty happy to hang out on the couch with you, and any older human siblings that won't get knocked over if I get a little too excited! I'm a major cuddlebug :) So what are you waiting for? Come meet me, Kuzco, today! Kuzco is available for pre-adoption only at this time, as he is heartworm positive. Heartworm disease is a non-contagious and treatable condition in dogs, but is fatal if left untreated. For more information about the spread, treatment, and prevention of heartworms visit: http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/dog-care/heartworm All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. Hi! My name is Leo! I am the most handsome, dapper gentleman you ever did see! My foster mama says I am a social butterfly, but I am most definitely a cat; so she's really silly! I love to talk and tell you about my day, and especially to beg you for treats. Yummy! I enjoy sleeping next to my foster mom and chilling out next to her while she watches TV. I also really enjoy playing follow the leader with her around the house. I haven't yet met dogs or kids, but I'm such a friendly boy, I'm sure I could get along with just about anyone. My foster Mom tells me I am FIV Positive (I guess that means I'm happy or something?) Leo III has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), a condition that weakens a cat's immune system. FIV is only transmitted through blood transfusions, serious penetrating bite wounds, or intercourse (but of course all DPA cats are fixed!). Other cats cannot get FIV through casual contact with an FIV+ cat. It cannot be transmitted to humans, dogs, or any other pets in the home. This is by no means a death sentence, and most cats with FIV can live to spend many long, happy years with their families, but it does mean his immune system is weaker, making it extremely important to stay indoors, stay up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and be fed a balanced diet with regular vet visits. They can live their entire life without ever coming down with any symptoms of FIV. As long as they are not exposed to any other virus or bacteria that their weakened immune system can't handle, they can live healthy, normal lives! Would you like to have a roaring good time with Leo III? Leo is available for pre-adopt only at this time as he is undergoing medical treatment, but applications can still be completed. Applications for pre-adopt are processed in the order they are received. All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. Meet Leo! This loving, playful pup is a giant schnauzer mix and is around 3 years old. Leo is looking for his forever home where he can play fetch and pounce on dragonfly shadows. Ninety pound a Leo is a goofball with a constant smile on his face and a tail that wags a mile a minute. His fosters are sure that he has some muppet in his lineage. Leo is house trained, crate trained, and has been through board and train so he knows sit, stay, down, place, leave it and give. He's a master at fetching his ball and dropping it at your feet. He's a gentleman that knows to stay off furniture, not to beg or steal things off the table. While Leo does well on a leash on pack walks and off leash in socialization classes, he would do best in a single dog home. He gets along with his foster sisters but occasionally gets snippy with them. Leo can also be super protective and will bark at dogs walking by the window or people working in the yard. The ideal home for Leo would be one with adults. Teens he could play with would be great. Small children are not recommended since he can be sensitive to the way he's petted or led to another room. He loves sun baths and looking for squirrels so a backyard is ideal. Leo would do well with a patient family who is willing to continue working on his socialization. With a little time, Leo will the greatest companion there is! Apply to adopt Leo today! All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. Meet the adorable kitty cat named Lip! She has solid black fur and is a youngin'. She loves to get head scratches, for her it's like going to the spa for a day. Although shy, she opens up to you once you've been acquainted. She loves nap time and is one for lazy days. She saves all that energy for night time. She's definitely a night owl. If you've got a nice window to look out of, she will lay there and soak in the sun for hours, maybe even dozing off in the meantime. She is house trained and good with cats. Currently, Lip is being fostered with her birth sibling Fiona and they are as close as can be. Because of this, her foster parent thinks that the best situation would be if Lip could get adopted along with her sister Fiona, as to not separate them and traumatize them any further. Other than that, any home would be great. Would you like to play hide and seek full time with Lip? Could you welcome her into your home and help her get out of her shell even more? Then please don't hesitate to apply to adopt her today. She will be that one black cat that brings you good luck instead of bad! Lovely Louise! This elderly sweetie is one of the kindest pups you'll ever meet! After a lifetime of hardship, this little darling is ready to live out her golden years with a loving family. While she waits for them to find her, she's getting lots of love, attention and sleep in a foster home. Louise's foster mom says this Schnauzer mix is the most precious dog she's ever known. Louise is blind, but loves to happily sniff to find her people when they come home! She loves to sleep! She sleeps most of the day in a comfy spot she finds around the house, so it's safe to say she's a pretty laid back pup. For play time, Louise loves a good chew toy. She also enjoys all kinds of pets, especially belly rubs, which make her howl with delight! This sweetheart also loves to be held and cuddled, and loves knowing there are people who love her. Louise's ideal home is one where her family is home a lot with her. Someone in retirement or someone who works from home may be the perfect fit for her. She is prone to the occasional accident, so a potty schedule is a must! She also wouldn't mind other pups around, although she likes sniffing them rather than playing. This lady wouldn't mind kids if they are gentle. She also would like a yard to explore, or at least a family committed to daily walks so she can sniff along the sidewalk! Louise's biggest request, though, is love, and lots of it! Want to give her the love she deserves? Apply to adopt her today! Meet Lovey Howl! This precious pit bull is an older girl, around seven years old, who loves nothing more than being with her people. She was rescued from the shelter and now lives in a foster home while she waits for her perfect forever family! Lovey is very loving and attentive. She likes to follow her foster parents around the house and just be near them as much as possible. She also does well on walks and loves to cuddle. An ideal home for her would be a low-key one where she is the only pet. Given that she's an older girl, she is pretty mellow and would be a great companion for someone in a quieter home. In addition to her sweet nature, Lovey is also smart! She knows the sit and stay commands and is house trained. She's such a good girl. This lady deserves the perfect forever home. Sweet 6-month old Luna was found as a stray in Dallas. Because of poor nutrition, the ligaments in her feet didn't develop properly, but she doesn't let her big floppy paws get in her way. Luna, like any puppy, is learning how to be a dog. She is working on her leash training, potty training, and learning to love her crate- with a little patience and a few treats, she is sure to have them all down in no time! Luna loves to play with her puppy foster sister and knows how to read corrections from less playful furry foster brother. Though Luna is untested with children or cats, she is sure to fit in to any kind of family with her curious and loving personality. When Luna isn't following her person around the house or playing with her rope toys and bones, she loves to take a nap snuggled up with you. Who wouldn't want a sweet and goofy pup to cuddle up with? Meet Marbles! She's a dark gray tabby, curious and full of energy! Marbles was rescued as a tiny kitten and raised as a bottle baby. She loves people and other animals (even if they're old cranky cats that don't want to play), and purrs loudly every time you greet her! Always ready to play, she'll climb, pounce, and sometimes roll on everything and everyone. When she's tired out, she always wants to be by your side, cuddling on your chest or by your neck. Marbles would love to live in an active home where she has an outlet for her energy. Without a mama cat to teach her manners, she can be a bit of a rascal at times! You'll want to be patient with her and keep teaching her not to play too rough with her friends. On the other hand, her litter box manners are impeccable, she's never had an accident. Marbles is ready to roll into your heart, and everywhere else! This pet is available for pre-adoption or completing their foster care with their adopter, as he/she is undergoing medical treatment. Meet Max! This precious shepherd mix is around five years old and a total goofball. He loves to snuggle his family and has an irresistible goofy look. He will be your best friend when he gets to know you - he is a very loyal pup! He was rescued after being found as a street dog, but is in a loving foster home waiting for the right family to come along! Max is a medium-level when it comes to activity. He likes to play but this pup really loves to cuddle with his people. He gets along with other pups and kids but can get testy about his food. He also would prefer not to be around cats. Max's foster mom says she loves his soft, silky fur and silly facial expressions. Plus, he's a great guard dog and loyal companion. So an ideal home for Max would be someone who could devote lots of time to him, to snuggle with him, pet him, and just let him be close. He would also need daily walks or runs so he can explore. Max is house trained and leashed trained, and he even knows the sit and stay commands! As for crates, he would rather be hanging out with his people because crates can make him anxious. Meet affectionate Meatball! He is a five-year-old pit mix. Meatball is a true survivor. He has been through such an abusive past, one that no dog should have to go through and has the scars showing how he has overcome that trauma. Now he's hoping for a family to give him a chance at a better life, one that he hasn't had and one that he deserves. Though his past has been tough, you wouldn't know or see it in him now. He's the most happy-go-lucky dog you'll ever meet. Meatball is such a love bug. Get ready for lots of affection from him! He is quite the gentleman too. Meatball is friendly towards all humans and just loves being in the company of other dogs. Do you love to cuddle? Because Meatball does! He's the biggest cuddler EVER! Although in pictures he looks huge, he is actually the perfect size for a snuggle bug companion. If you hold him in your lap, he will actually lay on your shoulder. By the way, Meatball is an equal opportunity toy lover. I don't think he's ever seen a toy that he's not liked. He'd love to go to your local pet shop with you to help pick out something to play with. A good home for Meatball would be with a family and if you have another dog, that's a bonus... he needs a doggy friend. He would always rather roam around the house and would be great on a doggie bed instead of a crate. Whoever adopts him needs to have consistency with continuing his training. But he is such a good listener and most importantly he wants to learn new things in order to make his humans proud. He is getting good progress on his potty training and knows how to sit. Can you give Meatball a second chance at first love? He sure could use a furever family! If he's the one for you, please don't hesitate to apply to adopt him today! This guy will be a great addition to whoever adopts him and will always be loyal to you. He just wants a chance to prove it. Meatball is available for pre-adopt only at this time. Meet the ever-so-adorable Mina! This sweet, gorgeous girl sports the most beautiful tuxedo coat and is sure to charm anyone she meets. Found living in a feral cat colony by Dallas Animal Services, Mina was deemed too young and itty bitty to return to this environment, so she is now living it up with her current foster family! Mina is gradually getting more comfortable with humans and other animals, slowly coming out of her shy, timid shell. She is great with using a litter box, taking to it right away! Mina does fine with small dogs, though she prefers to hide from them rather than play. However, she loves the company of other cats, getting along swimmingly with her foster family's current feline. While a little timid at first, Mina can be quite the cuddle bug. Her foster family gushes about how cute she is when she is happily curled up purring on their chests, snoozing away comfortably. She is still getting used to the concept of toys and playing, but she does love a good toothbrush that she can play with and bite the bristles of. Mina would do best in a home with older children and adults who can be gentle and patient as she learns to conquer her shyness. She would love to have a home with other cats and could get used to mellow dogs if introduced slowly. With some patience and a lot of love, Mina could be the purrfect companion! Napoleon Dynamite is a short-hair tabby cat with a beautiful coat and green-yellow eyes who came into DPA as a tiny feral kitten with his three siblings. He's reserved - loves the pets, but prefers to come to you. This cat loves to play on the cat tower and with various toys in his space. He is pretty active, but would benefit from some more dedicated playtime. Very sweet, but shy. He's timid until he's ready to get to know you. Napoleon Dynamite would love to be adopted with his sibling, Yu Darvish at a calm home where he's able to have his own space and get comfortable without a ton of distraction. Hi everyone! I'm Nero, and I am truly one of a kind. I'm definitely part lab, but the other parts are anyone's guess! Like most dogs my age and size, I love to run in the backyard, mouth joust, and roughhouse with other dogs that are up for it. I'm a floppy, happy, loving, eager-to-please pup who can't wait to learn about the world around me, and maybe even learn some tricks! I'm a great listener and super motivated by treats, so you know I can't wait to learn what you have to teach me! One thing I'm really starting to get the hang of is when and where to do my business, so any reassurance you can give me (read: treats!) when I do well would really help boost my self confidence! I also think having another dog around with a similar energy level would be great - he or she can show me the ropes of how things work in my new home. I can be lured into my crate with a bone or treat, and I've stayed up to 9 hours with no accidents, I'd much rather be hanging out with you though! My foster mom says I'm extremely affectionate - snuggling up with you is so nice. Oh and how could I forget? I LOVE my toys, I'll even toss them to myself - it's like a mini game of fetch! I'm great out in public, I just want to come up and give kisses and have a good time...I think I'd have so much fun if you wanted to take me to patios and relax or to a dog park! Overall, I'm a handsome, smart, and loving pup that can't wait to find my forever home! Could it be with you? Get ready to set your eyes upon one of the cutest snouts a.k.a faces you have ever seen! Meet Nori-an 11 month old chihuahua/lab mix! Her face is so expressive-you can almost hear her thoughts, and her eyes are so shiny, you might even see your reflection! Miss Nori gets along well with other dogs, would do best in a home with older/no children, crates well (especially with a Kong full of frozen peanut butter), is doing very well with house training, and is learning her leash manners while she goes on walks. Despite her demure size, Nori doesn't mind being active, and playful! She enjoys playing with her doggy toys, will run around the yard, or doggy park, and might even go for a small brisk walk, or hike! Nori is very smart, trainable, and sometimes even lovingly stubborn! She is going to do best in a home where her new family has time to carve out specifically for training, play, and affection/cuddle time. Nori will blossom under the right care-with a loving, nurturing home, she will make a wonderful lifelong pet! Feel free to contact DPA, to meet and greet this little babe! Feast your eyes upon the tremendously handsome, yet gentle and sweet, Odin. He is a bright boy of 7 years old, and already well trained and acclimated to home living. Unfortunately, his living situation changed, and he is lnow ooking for a new Furever Home opportunity, to live out with care, and happiness! Upon first glance, you will fall in love with Odin's bright blue eyes, and fluffy, soft coat. He is housebroken, knows and enjoys walks on his leash, and falls asleep in his dog bed, or any spot he can find that's comfortable. Odin was not raised in/with a crate, or kennel yet still behaves calmly when in the house, during the work day. Odin loves to run and play out in the yard, as mentioned-he loves brisk walks- and can be kept entertained by chewing and playing with doggy tennis balls, rawhides, or other safe toys. Despite keeping moderately active, Odin is still described by his foster family-as being more low key than other Husky's. He will charm you over with his sweet demeanor, may try to lovingly lay in your lap, or snuggle near you. Odin will also make you laugh when he fully lays outstretched with his back legs behind him, like a frog, too! Anybody looking for a friendly, happy, medium-activity level dog, who is already well trained and obeys commands- will hit the jackpot with Odin. A home with a large fenced yard, someone to challenge his smart side once in a while, and most importantly, provide a long-lasting home where Odin can become the beloved family pet, once again-would make this boy's dreams come true! If Odin's story speaks to your heart, contact DPA to set up a meet and greet! All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. Once upon a time, this sweet boy was an afterthought in a house that would put Hoarders to shame. He was a shadow-at worst, a ghost, and at best, a sidekick. Now PERCY, with his soft black cape and sweet, brown-eyed mask, is learning to be the superhero in his own story. Since coming into foster care, Percy the chihuahua mix has learned a LOT about being a canine superhero. He's learned to fuel up on cheese and hot dog slices. He's learned how to swoop in and play with his fellow superhero siblings. He's even begun assembling his own team of stuffed Avengers! While he is crate trained and puppy pad trained, Percy is still learning how to be a dog. This canine superhero-in-training needs a patient and loving forever family who can help him continue his progress. After all, being a superhero is tough stuff; you need the right support system! Meet Porter! Built into his pint-sized frame is all the character and personality of any typical large sized-dog... He's a 1 year old black Chihuahua mix with white tipped paws and a long, always-wagging tail. After being found as a stray, he stayed at the shelter for over a month. Before his time was up, he was finally pulled out of the shelter and into a foster home. Little to his fosters' knowledge, he had acquired ringworm at the shelter and was rocking "the cone of shame, with surprising confidence! Now, after a visit to the vet to clear up the ringworm, he is thriving and wiggling around in his foster home, until the right family decides to adopt him forever! An average day in Porter's life now involves getting a lot of attention and belly rubs from his foster mom and dad, as well as having a good play time. Porter loves playing "chase and "hide-and-seek with his foster parents-when he's feeling rambunctious, he'll even let you know with a little howl or yip of success after finding you in your failed hiding spot! After play time, he'll find comfort beside you on the couch for a mid-day nap. He finds nothing more relaxing than sprawling across his foster's lap, face buried in blankies, and catching up on some much needed Zzz's. Porter is not a fan of being away from his humans, and can be quite the Houdini crate-escapist... he once got out of his crate and was found snoozing on his foster's bed! Now, with the help of a couple of zip ties, he is becoming more accustomed to his crate and has not escaped since. When you come home from work or just a day out, he'll be eagerly waiting to greet you and catch up on all the missed snuggles by hopping you're your lap for a good head scratching or belly rub. He's also been making huge strides in becoming officially house-trained, and is almost 100% there! Porter loves taking strolls around the neighborhood and walks well on a leash. So far, he's not had any issues with any fellow dogs he's encountered. Porter's ideal home could be either an apartment or house, preferably with a yard. Although he can be high-energy at times during play, he's a pretty chill dog and will loyally follow you around the house, making sure that you don't forget that you loves you, indefinitely. Porter would be best with older kids, since he will jump up in excitement at times, and might be overwhelming to some smaller humans. Most importantly, Porter just wants someone to give him the love and attention (and treats,) that he deserves! Please consider adopting Porter today! This smart and playful pup is ready to give you all the sweet licks and cuddles he has to offer! I promise you won't find a better, more entertaining, or loyal companion! This pet is available for pre-adoption and may not be officially ready for adoption, as it is still undergoing medical treatment. Depending on the medical status, a Meet and Greet may be put on hold until they can safely participate in a meeting with potential adopters. In some cases, this pet may be able to move to its forever home while it is still under the medical care of Dallas Pets Alive. If you are interested in learning more, apply now and one of our Adoption Counselors will discuss the options available so you can bring home your new furry family member! Meet the amazing Princess Grace! Each morning, I wake my foster Mama up with a gentle purr, a nudge and the crinkling of my favorite Mylar ball. I sometimes bring her the ball in case she wants to play with it too! Then I snuggle under the covers with her for morning cuddles! Ahhhh! I love having my chin and cheeks rubbed. Heaven. Then we get out of bed and play follow the leader around the house. Working out with my catnip banana, pet cube and playing "sheet monsters" while my foster mom makes the bed keeps me in tip, top shape. And my favorite kitty cardio is chasing The Red Dot! I love to run all over the house after The Red Dot. Napping in sunbeams and playing with toy mice helps me relax. My foster mom says I am a whiz at the litter box too. In fact, she says I am the total package, whatever that means. Humans are silly, but I love them. Won't you adopt me so I can cast my adorable spell on you? I'll bring my Red Dot! Whether you're a damsel in distress or just a human in search of a dog, SIR FLOOFS is ready to be your knight in shining armor! At a whopping 90 pounds, Sir Floofs may seem larger than life, but this knight is a gentle giant with soulful eyes and a heart of gold. A mix of St. Bernard, husky, and Great Dane, Sir Floofs prefers to think of himself not as a BIG dog, but as an especially mobile body pillow. This regal gentleman will do anything for a good cuddle! (Luckily, he has the perfect coat for cuddling-soft and super fluffy!) Sir Floofs is not much for cats, but he loves lady dogs and kids. He's completely potty trained, which means that you don't need to leave him in his crate unless you're gone for long periods of time-but don't leave Sir Floofs for too long, because he loves his people! This gentleman minds his manners; he doesn't chew or bark. He has, however, been known to howl along with the occasional ambulance. He also gets VERY excited when he meets new humans, so he's working on learning not to jump. Get ready to meet the sweetest, most dapper gentleman you could ever meet...TEDDY! Teddy has had a ruff go in life, but that all changed when DPA snagged him from the local shelter! Teddy is a big boy, but just like his namesake, he's just a big ole Teddy Bear! He's aware of his size and is extra gentle with taking treats and interacting with humans. He is great with other pups of all sizes, and kids...but he may knock over smaller children just due to his size! Meet the adorable Topochico! He is a senior Chihuahua who would love nothing more than to spend his golden years being pampered and loved. This little guy was rescued from the local shelter, but is in a loving foster home waiting for the right family to come along! Topochico is a mellow pup who sleeps most of the day away - preferably right next to his humans. When he's in the mood for activity, he enjoys some toys and never turns down a peanut butter Kong! He gets along with other dogs and currently lives in a foster home with dogs. He would love canine companions as long as they respect his personal space! Topochico likes to cuddle up with his humans on a blanket on the couch. Although he may seem shy at first, he warms up to people quickly and becomes their best friend. His foster mom loves the dance he does when she comes home to see him! An ideal home for Topochico would be one with adults and where his people can be with him most of the time. He craves companionship and love, so the more time his people can spend with him, the better. He would do fine in any setting, but since he's an older guy he has some trouble getting around. Good thing he's so small - he's easy to pick up! Topochico is working on his house training and does well in the crate...especially if there's a Kong to lure him in! He also walks well on the leash, but can't walk very far. This little pup is deserving of the perfect furever home. Could it be with you? Apply to adopt Topochico today! Meet one of the sweetest compact-bodied dogs you've ever seen-Trinity! Trinity is a young bulldog mix, with the most beautiful and unique traits! Believed to have been hit by a car, when first rescued-Trinity has only one eye and a recovering leg, but that doesn't stop her from living her life to the fullest!~ Trinity is a very loyal, fun and smart pup! Her past does not slow her down at all- although she does rest a lot, until she is healed 100%. Trinity is very bright, knowing most commands already, and learning new ones quickly. She crates quietly, and will even go in just to play with her toys, and relax. She also goes potty outside, with no accidents in the foster home. Trinity has been around dogs of all sizes, and is equally comfortable around both. Furthermore, she nurtures and lays next to one of the bigger dogs, and comforts them, when a thunderstorm comes and goes, since they suffer from storm-anxiety. It should just be a short period of time before she is scooped up by the right owner, or owners, to start building a life with! Trinity shows such great promise, and will thrive within a home with lots of affection, doting, and socializing. A house with a small fenced yard, or apartment living could be fine, as longs she is kept active. Her future appears bright, with endless possibilities! Let's make her happily fur-ever after dream come true! Trinity is available for pre-adoption or completing their foster care with their adopter, as she is undergoing medical treatment. If you are interested in learning more, apply now and one of our Adoption Counselors will discuss the options available so you can bring home your new furry family member! Say "Hi" to Twinkie! Just like one of your favourite all time desserts, Twinkie is deliciously wonderful, in a lot of ways! She is a small 5 lb blonde chihuahua, (of COURSE similar to creamy filling of a Twinkie!) with the added cuteness of one floppy ear, and one up right ear! Twinkie is currently in a foster home, who has praised her from day one! She is full of energy, in spurts, is learning to walk on her leash like a pro, and gets along great with the other dogs in foster household. Twinkie mostly loves to be close to her humans, snuggling, touching and cuddling any part of body she can touch! She listens when her name is called, enjoys chew toys, and can hold her own when it comes to rough house-playing with bigger dogs. Twinkie could best be described as a true companion dog, and will do best in a house hold with a family who is home more frequently, or has other dogs to keep her active and content. This little girl can be a little tart Twinkie at times too! A fenced yard must be checked, because she likes to try to chase any animal around perimeter, be it cat, or squirrel, and even tries to escape to chase! She can bark when meeting a new face, coming into "her home", but makes friends after 5 minutes. Twinkie will also need assistance and patience with crate training, as she still isn't used to that element, quite yet. This sweet girl is ready to meet everyone and find herself her "furever home", whether it's in a house with secure yard, or an apartment with owner who has time to dedicate to Twinkie, as much as she is ready to dedicate to them! If your interested, contact DPA, directly, or look/ask about Twinkie at an upcoming meet and greet! Twinkie is available for pre-adoption only at this time, as she is heartworm positive.
