In order to alleviate the need to bring an animal into the shelter environment, The Anti-Cruelty Society has developed the new Home-to-Home Shelter Bypass service to help people find new accommodations for their pets privately. THESE ANIMALS ARE NOT LOCATED IN ANY OF THE SOCIETY'S PHYSICAL SHELTER LOCATIONS. PLEASE REFER TO THE CONTACT INFORMATION IN THE PROFILE BELOW TO INQUIRE ABOUT ADOPTING.
Monty is an energetic goofball! When he's relaxed he just likes to snuggle but when he's ‘on' he needs some focused exercise to help him blow off some steam. He has shown an interest in chasing squirrels so he'll need some training to learn how to ignore small, fast-moving furry creatures but he may in time prove to be a motivating jogging partner.
He knows key commands, sit, come and leave it. He raises his paw to shake as a sign of affection and appreciation that you are by him and will always take a good petting and cuddling from his family. He is curious and smart, stopping to take in a new sound or sight while on his walks and loves to be outside playing or lounging. Training will help with leash walking and proper behavior when meeting a new dog. Monty would do best in a home with a yard and multiple family members and no other pets.
He is current on all vaccinations and rabies until March of 2019. He has a current Cook County rabies tag as well as an Oak Park dog tag. He has had a new pet visit to PetVets in Oak Park that I am sure you would be able to just take him there without incurring the new pet fee visit.
He is not crated in my home and is allowed to be on my bed but not on the couch and follows the rules. He will often snuggle a little before I fall asleep and then again when my coffee beeps in the morning, but you will find him sleeping on his blanket next to my bed or on the rug at the foot of my bed. He is completely housebroken and does not wake in the night to go out. He is patient in the morning for the potty walk and will not grab the food bowl but will wait till it is placed next to his water bowl.
Monty has been a part of my life a very short time, just 3 months, and his love and gentle nature has captured my heart. I was fortunate to find him at the shelter and brought him home with high hopes our lives would melt together. I am excited to find his new forever family.
I look forward to chatting with you to see if you too will fall under the Monty spell. I will charge a nominal fee of $150 for his adoption to cover vet visits and items I plan to provide with Monty, i.e. dog bowls, leash and collar, toys, flea drops, heartworm pills, blankets, food.
