Panda was born last summer in a vacant lot in Sunset Park with a bunch of other adult stray cats. His two siblings were caught, vaccinated, and adopted into happy homes, but skittish Panda - always looking over his shoulder and running scared - avoided being caught until he was 7 months old. Up until then, he was a typical beta cat; getting beat up by the other adults and having his food stolen by them. Poor Panda!! Once he was caught and in foster, however, it became evident that Panda had one mode aside from fear - mushy sweet love. Within a week, he was purring, playing, and rolling over for belly rubs!! He learned how to play with toys for the first time, and how to relax. He became a cat, instead of a furry ball of worry. He was briefly in a house with another cat, and desperately wanted to be her friend, no matter how much she hissed and growled at him! So he would probably be a GREAT fit with another cat who is outgoing and playful, to help bring Panda out of his shell even more. He is still shy, but getting more outgoing and trusting each week and doesn’t have an aggressive bone in his cute little body. Panda is negative for FIV/FeLV, neutered, and up to date on vaccines.
