Adele was found roaming the streets with Beatrice, another dog we rescued who was found with a jar on her head. These dogs have been thru so much sadness and pain. She is about 1.5 years old and is now in good health. She is a young girl and has so much life left in her. A sweet girl to the core, She rarely barks, never growls, and is tolerant of just about anything. She is still skittish and alert. She loves playing in the yard for hours at a time, is great on a leash, and her dog companions are still her "ride or die." She sleeps at the foot of the bed and likes to give kisses in the morning. She feels safe in her crate and will go there when she gets nervous or just to hang out, but if she sees you pull out a treat, she'll run there to wait for hers. She likes ear and belly scratches. She wants to When Adele was found she was extremely shy and afraid of human touch. But with lots of love and care she has come a long way. She is now more trusting of all humans and is doing very well in her foster home. She does well on a leash and is good with other dogs. She is house trained and is eager to please her humans. She has been thru so much and deserves a happy ending. We will be updating her with more pictures. Meet Blake! Blake was found as a stray dog struggling to survive during Hurricane Harvey. He was taken to NRG arena with 700 other homeless dogs and ADORE volunteered to help out. Blake was micro chipped and had a family, unfortunately the owners refused to take him back and wanted someone else to have him. ADORE took him into their care as well as a group of others that were in need of saving. Blake is approximately 2-3 years old and about 60 lbs. He is sweet and easy going. He loves to smile and he does like to play with toys. He likes people and is not high energy. but he has been tested with a low energy female dog and did well. Since he is not in a foster home, we cannot confidently say he is house trained, but he is very clean in his kennel. Blake is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, micro chipped, and earthworm positive. Don’t worry, heart worms are NOT contagious to other dogs or people and ADORE pays for his treatment and any adopter/foster could keep him through that time! His treatment would consist of 2 vet visits (paid for by ADORE), keeping him crated during the day, and short leash walks for potty breaks for approximately 60 days. Hi my name is Castle! My previous owner’s moved and left me to fend for myself along with a pig in the yard. The neighbors were very concerned and reached out to the authorities. Luckily, they were able to pick us up and ADORE took me in to their adoption program. Now, I am looking for a place to call home <3 I am a big boy who is full of love. I’m about 2 years old and weigh 78 lbs. I am looking for an owner to bond with and with some work, I will be easy to train. I prefer an owner with some Shepherd or Rottweiler experience since my temperament is a mixture of both. Adore says I have a great, friendly attitude. I have enjoyed meeting all the new people and do well on a leash. I am not hyper, but I can use some daily exercise. I do have some anxiety since my owners just left me in empty backyard, but with a regular routine, it won’t be an issue! I would be perfect for kids over the age of 7 so I don’t accidentally knock them over. I will be tested with other dogs soon, and I would have to see about living with cats once I’m in a home with them since I wasn’t sure what to do with them during the test. I might have been house trained in my previous home, but Adore doesn’t want to list that on my profile until they are certain. If you’d like to meet me, please fill out an application today! I am neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative. Meet Champ and Rocco! Champ was found many years ago tied to a tree. Rocco was found starving and eating out of the trash to survive. While they were both found separately, they have been together since 2012. They were both adopted into the same home, unfortunately the family could no longer care for them. Champ is a beautiful German Shepherd who is about 9 years old and weighs about 85 lbs. He is a very sweet boy who walks well on a leash and is dog friendly. He has some skin issues that requires at least one medicated bath twice a month. His hips are in good shape and he does not have hip issues. Champ needs a proper introduction to new people and like any German Shepherd, he grows protective of his family. He is very bonded to Rocco and we will not consider adopting them out separately. Rocco is an (equally beautiful) American Bulldog who is about 8 years old and weighs 86 lbs. Rocco is the definition of sweetness! He will kiss your face whenever he can. He is an old soul that enjoys being around people. Rocco walks well on a leash and is very low energy. Rocco helps Champ build confidence and Champ is more at ease when Rocco is with him. They are both completely house trained, and crate trained. They are dog friendly, but have not interacted with cats yet. These boys are ready to live out the rest of their lives in a loving home. They are neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Meet Cheyenne and Jake! Cheyenne has had a really rough past. She was originally bought from a breeder along with Jake the Yellow Labrador Retriever. They lived out in the country where their owner would leave them outside to fend for themselves. He would leave town for days at a time with no care for Jake or Cheyenne. They had litters of puppies together and Cheyenne was used for entertainment by the man...we do not want to think about that meaning. It has caused Cheyenne to have some anxiety, Jake helps her and is like her therapy dog. Jake and Cheyenne were then rescued, and lived a happy life indoors. Unfortunately, their adopter passed away, and they are once again searching for their forever home. They are currently in a foster home and are doing great. They are both 200% house trained and never go potty or chew things inside. Cheyenne loves attention and is a total sweetheart once she gets comfortable. They both walk well on a leash and enjoy couch time. Jake is your typical loving and sweet family Lab. He is big, but very gentle. They will be a perfect addition to any home. They do well with other dogs, and are great with kids. We have not seen them around cats. They are both spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Meet Dee Dee! Dee Dee was spotted as a heavily pregnant girl right after Hurricane Harvey hit. She gave birth outside in a dog igloo and ADORE hustled out to her location to rescue her and her babies. Unfortunately, 3 out of the 4 babies were dead upon arrival. Dee Dee was extremely protective of her pups and it was ADORE's first FaceBook Live rescue to save her. We rushed her and her remaining baby to the vet, only to hear that her final remaining baby had passed away. The ADORE team was devastated, as was Dee Dee. Luckily an amazing woman stepped up to foster Dee Dee and she has been living the best life ever since. She has a Vizsla foster sibling that she LOVES to play and snuggle with. She is now house trained and loves to cuddle with people. She is more of a couch potato and doesn't require a lot of exercise, just lots of pets and cuddles. She does not need to be crated, but sleeps in one for the night and during feeding. She loves to play with other dogs and will even whimper when she walks past a home where other dogs live. She walks GREAT on a leash, but occasionally gets distracted by cats and squirrels. She enjoys treats and will be a great addition to any home! Dee Dee is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm positive (don't worry she is getting treatment soon). Say hello to this handsome boy named Frank! Frank was one of the 28 dogs ADORE pulled from a small rural kill shelter on the day they were set to be euthanized. Frank is estimated to be 3 years old and weighs about 75 lbs. Frank is one of the SWEETEST boys you can find. He is great with people and loves attention. He smiles with his entire face and we think he is mixed with Boxer since he also does the Boxer butt wiggle! We aren't totally sure what his mix is, but he has traits of both Boxers and Labrador Retrievers. He is MUCH cuter in person than his pics can do him justice. He has a face you can just squeeze all day. We think he would be good with older kids instead of babies/toddlers due to his size. He did not react to cats at all, but he has not been tested with other dogs yet. P.S. He loves giving hugs! He is learning the "sit" and "shake" commands and listens very well. He takes treats gently and is all around a good boy! He is not high energy and we think would be great for a home with moderate activity such as a walk or two a day or a backyard to play in. Frank is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm positive (don't worry, ADORE gets him treated at no expense to adopters). My name is Gilbert. Right after Hurricane Harvey, a woman found me in her backyard. I could barely stand up I was so beaten down. She took me to the doctor who said I was severely dehydrated and probably just crawled someplace safe to die alone. He gave me some fluids and medicine, all of my vaccinations. The nice lady gave me a bath. It didn’t look like anyone had ever really loved me or taken care of me. When I was brought inside, I just laid by the door, not understanding what it even meant to be allowed in someplace where it was soft and warm. I would rest quietly on the floor beside a bed or blanket, having no idea they were there for me and it would be okay for me to lie on them. I’m a very gentle soul. I make deep contented sounds and sighs when you hug me. I love toys like there’s no tomorrow. I even got to go to the beach one time! Who would have ever known such a miraculous place existed? I was ecstatic to be there. I’m about 10yrs old, and I would love a forever family who would love me, too, for the rest of my life. Um, about the belly band. I have Cushing’s Disease and sometimes I leak a little bit, but the belly band helps so much. And the doctors are working on getting this to stop with an antibiotic. Otherwise I’m potty trained and have nice indoor manners. I love other dogs and children, too. If you’d like to gave me your last name and your heart, please fill out an adoption application for me with team ADORE. Love you to the moon and back?? GILBERT show less

You can read Goliath's article here --- http://www.houstonpress.com/news/some-a-hole-is-training-his-dog-to-attack-strays-in-clark-park-6749715 Hello! My name is Goliath! I used to have a very rough life. I was living on the streets of Houston just trying to live day to day. However, a mean man had another idea for me. He decided to bring his trained fighting dog to the park and allow him to fight all the strays. Unfortunately, I was one of his victims. This experience left me badly injured on my face, but luckily things have turned around for me! I was rescued by ADORE Houston and had all of my wounds tended to. Now, you can barely notice my scars, but I have a really cute droopy lip on one side. I am understandably timid around new people, but I am still a sweetheart once I get to know you. When I am comfortable and in my element, I like to jump around and play. I have had such a hard time, and now all I want is to relax with a loving family and spend the rest of my years being pampered. If you want to bring me into your home, please fill out an adoption application! I am heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. Not everything in life comes easy. My name is Roscoe, and I am a testament to that fact. Life hasn't been easy for me at all. I have spent most of my life on the streets in the East End of Houston. I had a few doggy pals, but I never had the opportunity to learn what loving a human feels like. Now that I'm off the streets and safe, I'm happier but still very nervous around people. But please, don't stop reading there. I know that I'm scared, but I want so badly to learn to trust. I just need that one constant, steady companion who won't give up on me. I need patience and time, but mostly I just need love and security, something that my life has been totally lacking up until this point. Sure, it's tempting to take the easy road and adopt a more outgoing dog, but with me, you'll get so much more. The feeling of being loved by a dog that is learning what companionship feels like for the first time is indescribable. If you have the patience and compassion to allow me a life of happiness finally after all these years of waiting, you will never regret it. I am low energy and get along great with other dogs, too. I am heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. Adoption or Foster applications can be found at www.adorehouston.org! Meet Rufus! Rufus is fighting an uphill battle with nothing but a friendly and happy attitude. Rufus was found as a stray and rescued off the street. He was rushed to the vet where he almost died from a kidney infection. Luckily, he recovered and is now being spoiled. Rufus is estimated to be at least 10+ years old and weighs about 80 lbs. He is a gentle giant and is very good with not jumping. He is low energy but still enjoys to romp around outside with his humans and play with a toy. His lump on his front foot has come back as cancer and unfortunately, we aren't sure how much longer Rufus will live. His fur has been damaged from not being treated and we aren't sure it will ever fully grow back in, but some patches are slowly growing more hair. He still has so much love to give, he smiles and dances when you give him attention, and he loves other dogs. We are looking for a HOSPICE adopter who understands that Rufus needs a safe and warm home to live out the rest of his precious life. We don't know exactly what his life story is, only that we can make it better for him from here on out. Due to his age, he might cannot hold his bladder overnight, but he never purposely potties inside. Rufus loves people and deserves a forever home-for however long that may be. Rufus is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Adoption applications can be found on our website www.adorehouston.org/adoption-application/ show less

I was wandering around the gym parking lot, feeling down-on-my luck when I spotted him. I ran up to him with my tail wagging, looked up with my big brown eyes, and nuzzled his leg. Then I followed him to his car and jumped on in. Any place he could take me would be better than here. It was starting to get cold and I was hungry. This was the start of my rescue story. I wasn’t the prettiest. My body had seen better days. My girlish figure was all gone – you could see all of my ribs sticking out! I had spots of missing fur all over my body. Pesky ringworms. It’s hard to keep those guys away when you’re living on the street. Look at the “Before” first picture of me… I am embarrassed! I am glad that he noticed my beautiful spirit, eyes, and temperament and took a chance on a gal like me. I got taken to a nice vet to fix me all up. Besides the ring-worm, he found out I was suffering from the dreaded Heartworms. Before treating the heartworms, I wanted to get spayed so that I could try to find a forever home. Unfortunately, I had one more hurdle to overcome on my story. While waking up from surgery, I suffered from a pulmonary embolism (due to a heartworm dislodging). Luckily the nice vet was able to save me! This video was taken the same day that I flat-lined and came back to life. As you can see I am a happy go lucky girl that doesn’t let any obstacles slow me down. All I want is a human of my own to love on. I have completed my heartworm treatment, healthy, and ready to go to my forever home! I am a goofy clown who loves making you laugh. I love to smile and wag my tail constantly. I try to be really good and listen to my foster parents. I always sit for my food and to go out on the leash. I am working on potty training. I am dog friendly but have not yet been tested on cats or children. Despite all of my positive qualities, I know I may look scary to some people. I promise I am not scary! I love all people and want to be best friends with any new person I meet. I promise if you give a girl like me a chance, I will be your best friend forever. I want a family of my own – please give me a chance! I am up to date on vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped. show less
