Hi everyone! My name is Spanky! My foster mom picked out my name because my tail is constantly wagging or “spanking”! I always know where my foster mom is because I follow her everywhere. She and the vet think I am a 2 year old Cairn terrier mix. I’m 15 pounds with wiry blond hair, brown ears, and freckles on my nose. Nobody knows my history because I was found as a stray and brought to Dallas Animal Services.
A little about me – I know that dogs go potty outside. My foster mom lets me out a lot, but if she forgets, I’ll cry a little to remind her or scratch at the door. I’m so easy to walk! No pulling at all – I like to stay right next to my person. I live with two girl dogs – a big one and a little one. The little one is the boss, and I’m ok with that – I don’t need to be the leader! There’s also a cat here… He scares me so I stay away from him. I really like my foster dad – I sleep on his chest while we watch sports together. I’m not afraid of men at all. My very favorite person is the little girl who lives here. I love kids so much. I follow them everywhere hoping they will pet me or drop food! I stay in her room after school while she does something called “homework”.
My foster mom calls me the “perfect family dog”. I’m learning to like my crate, but I prefer to sleep on a towel on the sofa and since I’m potty trained and don’t chew things – that’s where I’ve been spending the night.
Do you want to meet me? I’ll love you the second I see you, I promise. I’ll wag my tail and roll over and let you rub my belly. Apply to adopt me, Spanky, today!
Spanky is available for pre-adoption only at this time, as he is heartworm positive. Heartworm disease is a non-contagious and treatable condition in dogs, but is fatal if left untreated.
