This adorable little man is named Dave! Dave is a ~10 year old Miniature Schnauzer who was found as a stray in Philadelphia and brought to the animal control shelter. Shockingly, no one came to claim him so City of Elderly Love whisked him away to foster care to help him land his dream family!
Though he has put on some much needed healthy weight, Dave is a smaller guy, weighing in around 15 lbs. He may be tiny, but he's got a big personality! Dave loves meeting new people, is super duper snuggly with his foster family now that's settled in, and is currently living with older kids who he loves to play with! Dave also loves playing with toys like a puppy, eats like a champ (and sometimes even prefers eating out of your hand!), and going for walks and exploring his neighborhood. Dave is currently living with other dogs and is pretty forward in how he introduces himself. He prefers to be the boss in the interaction and would likely be happiest in a home with other dogs who don't mind him being on the boss. While Dave loves his human friends, he isn't a big fan of being picked up though that may change as he settles in with his forever family and learns to trust them. Dave is crate trained and housebroken!
Since coming to the rescue, Dave has received a full veterinary workup and a badly needed grooming. He was diagnosed with a mild heart murmur at the shelter which isn't uncommon in dogs. He was neutered and received a dental cleaning under sedation at our vet. He has some age-related joint stiffness but is building muscle now that he's on a healthy diet and receiving appropriate care.
Dave is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is also heartworm and lymes disease negative. Interested in adopting him?
