Adopt Babbs

Female Domestic Shorthair

About

Beautiful Babbs! This gorgeous Torbie cat looks like a Tabby, but she has Tortie markings on her paws and head. She is about 2 years old and was pulled from a feral colony, but was just too domesticated and too SWEET to return – she’s anything but feral! She’s a little on the shy side at first, but she’s not shy when it comes to cuddling up to her human!

Babbs currently lives with 2 other cats who are pretty laid back and not too playful, and she gets along with them perfectly. Given her shy nature, she probably would do best in a home with mellow or older kitties – no young bucks who like to bite and wrestle! She’s probably lived with other cats her whole life, so she’s not fazed by other cats at all! Her foster hasn’t even heard her hiss at her cats! Babbs has also been in a home with dogs. She hid from them at first, but she is getting used to them and mostly just tolerates them and keeps her distance. She would do great in any home that has endless love (and snuggles) to give!

Babbs has been the perfect house guest in her foster home, always using the litter box and not clawing on furniture. She is very eager to please, with a loving nature that is contagious – you’re sure to fall in love with her!

It was discovered that Babbs was positive for feline HIV (FIV). While this sounds scary, and most people may tend to reject her because of it, FIV positive kitties can live long and healthy lives – they just probably won’t live to be 20 years old! At 2 years of age, Babbs is currently symptom-free and completely healthy! FIV is contagious but only through mating, mother-to-kitten at birth, or deep bite wounds. Babbs is spayed and a very cat-friendly girl, so the chances of her spreading it to another kitty are very, very low. Some vets, however, may recommend that she be the only cat in the home, or she be homed only with other FIV positive cats
