Miles is a big, adorable boy, who loves to play. He is an 80 lb. GSD with the heart of a sweet, loving puppy. He loves to play with his toys, and thinks playing with children is even more wonderful. Miles is not a picky eater, so he is easy to feed. Miles probably never lived in a house before, but he is quickly learning house manners and is making great progress. Miles is learning to walk politely on a leash. Often times he still wants to lead, or pull, but does take correction well. He is gradually beginning to understand what it means to let the person be the leader. With consistency and patience, Miles will be a great walking companion in no time. Miles likes treats, but he also works for praise and petting - which is probably better for him as he is at an ideal weight. Miles' exuberance can sometimes get the better of him, and he has to be reminded regularly that jumping up on people is not usually welcome when you are a big, strong, 80 lb. boy! Because Miles suffered some trauma due to a snake bite before coming into our rescue, he will sometimes let his anxiety get the better of him. Patience, quiet talking, and petting will calm him right down, as he is always pleased to be in the company of humans. If you are looking for a really sweet dog, who would be a nice addition to just about any family, Mister Miles is your guy!

Greater Houston German Shepherd Dog Rescue
GHGSDR volunteers are dedicated to saving as many German Shepherds in the Greater Houston Metro area as humanly possible - based on current resources of available foster homes, the rate at which we can find suitably matched adoptive homes, and of course, financial resources for veterinary care.
GHGSDR Shepherds mostly come from animal shelters where they are awaiting euthanasia. All of these Shepherd Dogs need loving, forever homes and families to call their own. We have several GSDs available for adoption and we regularly take in more Shepherds under our wings and into our Rescue Program, increasing the numbers of dogs available for adoption. Whenever we can, we also work with other dog rescue groups in Texas and nationwide to help ensure the safety and security of these wonderful animals.
